Author's Note:
Hey =] I'm revising In One Breath a bit and before you freak out on me, it's gonna remain the same plot and all. It's still gonna be crappy and short, very sappy and a bit unrealistic. -grins- But I know lots of readers out there dig that stuff rather than the long novels I like, so I'm just gonna revise it so it's a bit more to my liking but not to the point of making it too er….whatever. I just don't have enough time to continue updating my other fanfics, and I hate leaving things undone so long, so I'm gonna take this up and fix it. Keep in mind that this was my first fanfic ever, so I want to keep it sort of bad and all. Anyways, enjoy.

[Prologue]
"Kagome!"
A tuft of soft black hair peeped above the edge of the well. A hand shot out and waved, searching for a hold to support their weight. With a brief huff, a young teenage girl pulled herself out of the hole and sat on the rim, taking in the much-needed oxygen after her vigorous workout.
Before long however, a bubbly brown ball of fur shot forward and launched itself into her arms, tackling her with a massive hug. The girl gave a small "oof!" and fell gracefully leaned backwards, into the hell she just climbed out of. Just before she lost her balance, someone grasped her outstretched hand and pulled her back up. Her momentum at a loss, she fell forward into the arms of another, with the wiggling kitsune still in her arms.
She peered up into radiant golden eyes sheepishly and winked. With his arms still around her, Kagome turned her eyes down to smile at Shippou.
"You know Shippou," Kagome waddled a finger in front of his nose. "You have got to stop doing that. As much as I love having the wind knocked out of me, I don't think I'd like to fall on my butt again from such a height."
The kid wrinkled his nose and mumbled an apology while he snuggled into his surrogate mother's neck. He inhaled her sweet scent and turned his pleading eyes towards Kagome. "Please don't leave again. I hate it here without you. Inuyasha is so m-mmph!"
Inuyasha glared at the kid he was muffling. He snarled. "Shut up brat."
"Inuyasha!" A playful slap was heard.
He smirked.
It was great to be back.
"Aww, just look at the sweet couple!"
The two teens blushed at the comment and threw a half-hearted glare towards the taijiya. The demon-exterminator gave a small shrug and smirked at the picture the three make together in each other's arms.
Sango beamed, barely able to control her excitement. "No denials? Oh my god! Miroku! Come here!" With a small grunt, she dragged her companion until they were in front of the living family portrait. "Don't they look so adorable?"
The monk mumbled an incoherent string of words where only "can't bear my children" was audible. Steaming, a hand swiftly smacked the guy back to his senses and he smiled as if nothing happened and replied, "Yes, ofcourse!"
The original "couple" had already shifted, shuffling their feet awkwardly. Kagome cleared her throat and shot her girlfriend a warning glance and nodded at Inuyasha who seems preoccupied ignoring their previous comments. Sango gave a knowing apologetic look with just a touch of sympathy towards Kagome and gave a sad sigh.
Somethings just can't be.
Miroku, sensing the tension, held up his staff and smiled at Kagome. "Welcome back Kagome-san. Shall we continue on our way then? That is, unless you have to get something from Kaede first ofcourse…"
Shaking her head lightly she laughed in relief, grateful for a distraction, she replied, "No thanks. I just sensed a faint pull towards the west just now anyways. We should get going before it leaves my range of detection."
"Indeed"
And so they tread lightly towards the west. Neither gave little thought as to exactly where in the west their pursuing will take them, so none questioned. This will turn out to be a slight problem in the near future.
For unbeknownst to them, the were treading on dangerous paths. Paths that will lead to certain opportunities of different outcomes.
Paths that will change the bonds the five now share. A change the will cause them to let go of a past they so dearly hold on to, trying to salvage the remaining pieces of friendship they had. A friendship where none of them were able to trust one another with their deepest thoughts.
Thoughts of betrayal. Of pressure.
Of doubts.

AN: The chapters will be kind of short compared to what I normally write sometimes. My apologies. Anyways, this is a repost of the revised version of the original In One Breath. It is still the same story with a little change in events and such as well as the format of proceedings. Please be patient and if you've read this before, I'd appreciate feedback. Actually, feedback of any kind is welcome. -winks- (that means reviews people)
