Inuyasha briefly acknowledged the merchant's gleeful departure. The merchant had just left with two handfuls of the money Inuyasha had brought with him.
“Miroku….”
“I've already explained everything to you Inuyasha. Why don't you believe me?” Miroku huffed as he sat on the bed of the inn they, well he, paid for.
After that incident in the market place Miroku would be paying for many of the things they both needed.
Inuyasha growled. Bogus. He didn't believe for a second that Miroku was telling the truth. How on earth did he manage to get himself into such situations?
It hit him like a brick.
Women.
The only reason Miroku would go through such measures and do so much damage.
Inuyasha glared suspiciously at his partner-in-crime. He only needed to stare a little bit longer….
“Inuyasha would you stop looking at me, what I said was the truth. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to bed.”
Well Miroku was half telling the truth.
Stretching it you could say.
He hadn't meant to blow up the merchants' shop. He'd only wanted to get some firecrackers for tonight festivities.
Who knew the same man who sold firecrackers sold bombs?
It was all that bumbling idiots' fault. You don't shoot at someone who standing near a bomb merchant. Granted he had touched his daughter's rear end, but it was her fault for making it looked so unbelievably soft.
Miroku almost growled. He wanted to damn the world that was against him and his accursed hands….
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
How could this happen……
Voices. More like lost whispers….
You mean to tell me……
My fault……
Never……
I wish she would just……
Die……
What's going on….
Are these my thoughts…… are they some one else's…….
Kagome……
Die……
No they're not mine…….are they Kikyo's…….does she want me to die……
Well I won't!
I can't!
I have something to do………
I wish I just could remember what it was………
Kagome tried to open her eyes. Nothing but painful lights swirled around in her vision.
So she just closed her eyes again.
Kagome……
If you only……
Would… just go away……
She tried again. This time the painful light turned into black, white, and grey blobs.
“What's going on……?”
Kagome! Can you…
Just stop……
Breathing……?
The Voices they were getting louder. Clearer. She tried again to open her eyes. The red and gold fabric of the Queen's bed was the first thing she could make out. The steady thrum of someone's breathing could be heard.
What had happened to her?
How did they get out of the Den? She knew she had to have hit something on her when she fell but the throb she felt in the back of her head wasn't painful.
What was going on?
“Ugghh…”
“Kagome! Kagome are you awake?”
The Queen gentle face came into view. She had worry lines like Mother used to whenever she got sick. Delicate features were crumpled with fear and relief.
“ My queen…” a raspy voice called out. Was that her own? She swallowed and tried again.
“My queen, what happened to me?”
The queen gave a small sigh. Confusion welled up inside Kagome.
“ Kagome no one knows what happened in that cave yesterday. The strange fox child pulled you out of the Den with some sort of demon magic. We found you and Kikyo unconscious just outside the town.”
`Strange fox child?'
She tried to remember seeing some fox demon along the way.
The thing!
So that's what hit her. But what she really wanted to know is how did he get down in the Den of Midoriko.
“Okay so that explains that but…..”
“Kagome let me finish. When we undressed the two of you to check for any injuries well…”
She pointed towards Kagome's hip. Kagome looked down at herself and found a strange glow emitting from her hip.
“What the hell is that?”
“That ,Kagome, is the mark of Midoriko.”

The people of the Kingdom of Edor who just happened to visit the Market one particularly nice morning would have been in shock. Not so much from the fact that half the Market was missing, but more so from the fact that two of Nobility were half clothed and running for their lives from an extremely angry man with a gun.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Kagome stared out of the window. She pulled at the neckline of her uncomfortable dress. Beautiful but uncomfortable. Her maid drabbled on about some sort of disturbance in the Market today.
Naked men running around.
Normally she would have had a good laugh at that but she was under too much stress. She was to meet the prince from the Kingdom of Inverno today.
Sigh. Things were never going to be the same again. They couldn't be.
She was the next Goddess of Midoriko.
The prince she was supposed to meet?
The man who was supposed to help her defeat some great evil.
This isn't fair! Things weren't supposed to like this! Kikyo was supposed to go off and have herself a little adventure, rid the world of this evil.
And Kagome?
She was supposed to go and visit Mother. Clean and put flowers on her grave……
“Kagome are you ready?” Her maid asked.
She nodded. Everything was different now. She had maids to wait on her. Though she didn't need them, they were still there. She tugged at the uncomfortably beautiful dress then walked out of her new room.

The first thing Kagome noticed when she entered the Queen's private chamber's was two men bickering. One had silvery-white hair and was adorned with white and red robes. A large white dog was placed on the back and on his pants was the crest and symbol of the Kingdom of Inverno. Kagome had briefly been taught about how one distinguishes royalty.
The other man had short black hair pulled into a small ponytail. His robes were a purple and black with the same crest and symbol on the pants of robes as the other man but he lacked the large white dog on his back.
They both seemed to fail to notice her and continued to bicker about subjects unknown to her until her maid announced her presence.
“The Kingdom of Edor graciously presents to the Prince of Inverno her majesty, Princess Kagome.”
Kagome almost fainted as the Prince's eyes fell on her. They the most wonderful ochre color, shocking Kagome into staring.
Ahem.
The simple cough made her throw herself into bow that she was used to doing around royalty.
A blush crept up on her cheeks as she remembered the Queen's words.
`Princesses don't bow, they curtsy.'
Kagome slowly pulled out of her bow and shifted into a curtsy that was longer than it should be.
`Oh crap……'
Kagome looked up to see the Prince looking at her strangely. She would look at herself like that if she was in his position.
Just then as the staring became too much for Kagome the Queen and Kikyo entered the room.
She was saved.
“Ah Prince Inuyasha, welcome to our kingdom.”
