Queen Esther of Albion knew she was brooding, her staff knew she was brooding, her subjects knew she was brooding; even the local vampire lords knew she was brooding, but only her friends knew why. She would not admit more than the fact that she had lost a good friend and colleague and she was over with it. Caterina knew she wasn't, because sometimes on business she went to Albion and had heard soft whimpers at night. Today was one such night as she had come here to discuss the replacement matter, this time as a friend. As she knocked on the door of the Queen she was surprised that she didn't find a red puffy eyed Esther this time. Her table light was on and she was writing something. When Caterina entered Esther was a bit less formal than when in court, she just knew she had something she needed to talk about and wouldn't to anyone, not even Father Tres who had been the closest of mutual friends she and Abel had. There was a small box beside her king sized bed, which was half open. It had a lousy four dinars placed in it. Caterina being the expert she was at her finance knew just why they were kept there.
During their private meeting Esther didn't say much, she tried her hardest to be cheerful and said that the idea of the replace could be taken ahead although the Duchess of Milano could sense the layer of sine on her eyes, she agreed. But that didn't change that fact that she hated it and was doing it only for the sake of humanity.

She walked back to the room in the guest's wing which was assigned to her. She didn't think much of the deal either, but knew it was important and slightly content with the fact that the replacement was female, maybe Esther would feel better once she had a friend. That night as she sat in her window she didn't hear the whimpering while the rest of the palace was asleep.

Wish upon as star tonight
Wish upon a star bright
That you'll come back to me soon
As beautiful as ever, like the silver moon

The notes of the melody blended with the velvet of the black night and the moon shone its fullest and brightest as Abel had done through the darkest of their fears.

So hard to forget what we left behind
So hard to hold back the sands of time
When I was asleep you were
Holding my hand to protect me
Now when I open my eyes,
I wonder where you would be

It was the most beautiful song that Ion had ever heard, “We're nearing,” he whispered “Do you want to do this?” His companion didn't answer; he just kept following the song.

When my window is draped in moonlight
I know there shall be no time for sorrow tonight
First I had fun with this life
And now I'm done with this life
Ever since you've gone I don't feel alive

He wanted to go bad to go to her, he knew she wanted it too, but there were other's who mustn't know about this at all and to be honest he wasn't doing this for himself. There was a lot she and he needed to talk about, catch up on. But first he needed to speak to Caterina, he had to explain that why one of their allies had died. But he was getting lost in the music, he was struggling to get out of the trance he was walking in. yet he had to send Ion first, it would take a long time before he could show himself.

Wish upon as star tonight
Wish upon a star bright
That you'll come back to me soon
As beautiful as ever, like the silver moon

Caterina, a strong woman almost cried listening to the song, though she would never admit.

Esther didn't know why she was doing this, she didn't know how she was singing but she did know that Abel would hear her. She wondered what had they done that he left; she couldn't remember anything out of the ordinary. She had been on her best behavior around him, tried her hardest to make him feel ok. As she neared the last two lines she just knew that he would hear them, they said everything about the relationship of a mortal and an immortal. The differences they both knew about.

And love you know I wont stay long
Don't forget me please darling, love me when I'm gone

A hot tear trailed down the cheek of Abel Nigthroad.
