Chapter Eight:

'So, this is how I'm going to die' Kikyou thought as her eyes closed, her head was going to explode from the lack of air 'by the hands of my reincarnation' her head began to spin and she lost all feeling in her body. She knew this was going to be the end for her. Kagome pulled the string tighter, her anger was rising quickly.

"This is for everything" she growled, the young miko could feel Kikyou loosing consciousness as her body grew limp and she hung lifelessly from Kagome's hold. She looked around for Inuyasha, but she couldn't find him anywhere.

"Stop it Kagome, let her go" The hanyou said placing his hand over hers "She doesn't deserve to die"

Kagome held tighter, ignoring Inuyasha's voice and touch, 'No!' she thought. She pulled on the string only to see Kikyou's fingers twitch slightly.

'Let go Kagome, just let go!' Inuyasha thought as he grabbed her hand. He had realized everything when the bright light hit him. He looked down at his kimono and sighed his blood darkened the already red garment. "Please let go"

Kagome's eyes flared "No Inuyasha, it has to be this way!" She growled, she could feel her hatred growing stronger by each passing second.

"Stop this and stop it now!" Inuyasha threatened the miko as he dug his claws into her soft hand. She didn't even budge at his actions 'what the fuck!' he thought., and then he sensed it. The Shikon no Tama.

The sun began to set as Sango and Miroku kissed, but it didn't last long as he heard Kirara growl angrily. Sango pulled away from the monk to see the cat demon's hair standing on end and her fangs barred.

"What's wrong Kirara?" she said walking next toe the full sized demon. Kirara growled deeply then Sango noticed what her friend was growling at the god tree. Her eyes probed the massive giant, hoping for an answer but nothing came. She jumped as Miroku appeared next to her side.

"I sense some foreboding energy from the well where Inuyasha and Kikyou went into" He placed his hand on her shoulder.

"We must go find Inuyasha" Sango whispered as she glanced up at the monk. He nodded. They both turned and broke into a run "How are we going to get to Kagome's time with out the Shikon Jewel?"

She stopped as they approached the well. She saw Miroku's mischievous smile "Uh. I have the faintest clue" He reached into his robes and pulled out a little less than half of the jewel and showed it to her.

"Miroku! How did? How long have you had that?" She gasped touching the jewel's smooth surface.

"I'll tell you later" then he grabbed her hand and together they jumped into the well.

The priestess dangled lifelessly from the bowstring, and Inuyasha couldn't stand to see what Kagome thought needed to be done, would be killing Kikyou. He walked in front of Kagome and sighed "Kagome I'm really sorry for this and please don't hate me!"

He punched Kagome's face, soft enough not to hurt her too badly, but hard enough to knock her down. Kagome gasped as he hit her, sending her tumbling backwards.

Sango held onto the monk's side as a bright light surrounded them, 'What's going on?' she thought gripping the monk tighter. She closed her eyes, and prayed for Inuyasha's safety. Miroku tapped Sango's shoulder.

"We're here," he said softly. And then they listened to their surroundings for a moment and they heard:

"Please let go!" Inuyasha begged

"NO! Inuyasha!" Kagome hissed "It has to be this way!"

"Stop this! And stop this now!" The hanyou threatened angrily.

There was a moment's silence before Miroku heard, "What the Fuck!" Everything went silent, the monk began to climb the inside of the well, with Sango not far behind. They both quickly squirmed out of the well house just as Inuyasha stood in front of Kagome.

"Inuyasha NO!" Miroku yelled as the Hanyou planted one of his fists into the young miko's cheeks.

Kagome went falling backwards dragging Kikyou with her. Kagome hit the ground with a loud thud. The priestess landing on top of Kagome, knocking her unconscious. Sango screamed as she fled to Kagome's side, pushing Kikyou off she saw how badly injured the priestess was, but she still hadn't noticed the bowstring clasped in Kagome's tiny hands until Sango saw the ring around Kikyou's neck, blood oozing out of the wound.

"How dare you Inuyasha!" Miroku swung at the hanyou with his staff, barely nicking his ear.

"What in the seven hells do you think you're doing monk!" Inuyasha growled dodging another one of Miroku's swings.

Kikyou twitched, and breathed in the air heavily. She gasped and coughed holding her throat. Sango looked at the priestess horrified, but Kikyou ignored her, pulling out a seal and sticking it over Sango's mouth before the girl could even been able to move. Sango went headfirst into the ground. The badly injured priestess crawled a few a inches to reach the unconscious miko, and tearing open Kagome's shirt (A/N: don't get perverted, she's not going to do that.. sicko)

'There it is' she thought coughing. Kikyou fingered the healed scar on Kagome's shoulder. The priestess pulled out a tiny knife and wiped it clean. Then she gently punctured Kagome's skin, blood poured out slowly and soon as the wound was big enough, Kikyou tosses the knife to the side and took her thumb and index finger putting them inside of Kagome's wound, digging into her skin.

Kagome's eyes flew open at the twinge of pain through her entire body. She screamed as Kikyou sat on her, pushing her fingers into Kagome's skin. Miroku and Inuyasha turned to see Kikyou over Kagome, blood covering what was left of her blouse.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled his eyes wide with surprise, pushing the monk to the ground as he ran to Kagome's aide.

"I..Inuyashhh…" Kagome began passing out from the blood loss. Then, a flash of light burst from her body.

Half of the Shikon no Tama was glowing a dark red. 'It's tainted' Inuyasha thought as he stopped behind Kikyou.

The light grew brighter as the jewel began to consume Kikyou. There was a bright flash of blue light and a gigantic wave of wind as everything disappeared into the light, even the darkness was consumed.
