Yay!!! I finally got off my lazy butt and wrote the story!!! This is my second story. I think it's much better than the first. I hope I'll improve this much in between all my stories. This story was originally an idea where people gave me their story ideas and I chose the best one and made it into a story. I picked fireash's idea, so most of the credit for that part of the story goes to her. I also don't get credit for any Inuyasha characters. What do I get credit for? I wrote this story. I put a lot of time into it. That credit goes to me. N e wayz, I hope you enjoy my fic.

Disclaimer: As I already mentioned, I do not own Inuyasha and co. Don't you people have anything better to do?

Chapter 1:

First Comes Love, Then Comes Loss

Life is a game. In it, players can be added or they can be removed. Risks are taken. And when you lose, you can wait till your next turn, and start over in hopes that you'll do better next time. But is there really a way to win in this game, or is the finish line just something our minds make up to keep us going, to give us hope that there really is a way to make it through all the obstacles, big or small? Is there a place that you can go to be safe from all the dangers that face you? Do you ever just want to give up?

"Kagome, are you sure your ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Hehe." Kagome put on a fake smile for the worried hanyou. She had lied, but she didn't want him to worry. She had been having a bad feeling about the place they were staying. She couldn't explain it. She didn't want to bother the others with her "strange feelings", but her gut wouldn't shut up. "Inuyasha?"

"Uh huh."

"Well, do you think we could sleep somewhere else tonight?"

"Kagome, I know you don't like sleeping outside, but the stupid monk over there failed to get us a place."

"I tried, Inuyasha, but the man simply did not believe me."

"Yeah, well it didn't help that you'd been there before."

"I have stayed in many places, how am I supposed to keep track of them all?"

"No ...that's ...not what I meant, I__" Before she could finish, she was cut off by a loud rumble, and then the earth shook. "Was that a ...earthquake?"

"That was no quake."

"I smell demon."

The rumble came again, and then another shake of the earth. Some trees fell and a huge demon could be seen. It was a giant rock. It was taller than Sesshoumaru was when he was transformed, but not by much. It spoke in a deep voice "Inuyasha, I have come for ye. Prepare to die."

"Heh, you weakling, you're the one who should prepare to die." *cracks knuckles*

"Wait Inuyasha, there's no need for you to waste your strength; I will take care of this one. Besides, I can't just let you have all the fun now can I." He removed the prayer beads from his cursed hand. "Wind tunnel." The strong wind began to pull the monster inside. While being sucked in, the demon started to laugh. Miroku cocked an eyebrow. "Have you gone insane?"

"Kukuku (in the manga, this is an evil laugh that all the "bad guys" use). You don't know do you?"

Again Miroku cocked an eyebrow.

"My body is made out of the same poison that the saimyoushou (Naraku's poisonous insects) carry."

Miroku seals his hand up again with the beads. "But, then that must mean that your___"

"One of Naraku's creations."

"Very good little hanyou. Naraku made no mistakes with me. I am invincible."

"Heh, yeah right. Kagome, you take care of Miroku. It looks like it's my turn."

"Hey, what about us?"

Inuyasha turns around to see an angry exterminator and a young kitsune (fox demon for those of you who don't know) staring at him with their arms crossed. "Your not forgetting about us are you?" "Yeah, we can help too you know."

"You guys, protect Kagome."

Inuyasha turns back around to see that the demon is closing in on him, ready to attack.

"Tetsusaiga." Inuyasha swings down his sword and slashes through the wind scar, but only the demon's arm is blown off! "What?!"

"That's just not possible."

"Kukuku. Stupid hanyou. As I said, I'm invincible." After having said that, he furrowed his eyebrows. He seemed to be concentrating hard on something. Just then, a new arm sprung out from where the old arm had been. Everyone was surprised at this. "Kukuku, do you believe me now?"

"What's going on?"

"This demon... can... regenerate its body parts."

"What do you mean Miroku?"

"Well... you just wit...nessed it for... yourself, did you not?"

"Miroku, you should save your strength."

"Oh... don't... worry about me... Kagome. I'm just fine." Miroku puts on a fake smile. "You should help Inuyasha."

"Yeah, you should go, Kagome, Miroku is feeling just fine, as he said."

"How do you know?"

"He's rubbing my butt again." *smack*

Kagome picks up her bow and arrows and runs to the battlefield, where Inuyasha is trying to dodge the attacks being thrown at him. Inuyasha gets his chance to attack. He gets in position to attack, and...

The demon slams his giant foot hard on the ground and the earth shakes. Inuyasha is on the ground and has made his own little hole. It looks like he was pummeled with `sit' commands.

"Damn, that was a lot bigger than the others." He says to the ground.

The demon now has the best chance to attack the fallen hanyou. He moves in for the kill. Inuyasha doesn't even see him coming from his hole in the ground.

The demon is moving in for the attack, but so is Kagome. She aims her arrow, and fires. The demon sees the arrow coming towards him and jumps out of the way. "At least he's away from Inuyasha."

"You bitch; I'll get you for that." He starts running towards Kagome when he hears "Hey, ugly." This caught his attention. He turns around to see a pissed off hanyou. "This is between you and me; you leave her out of it."

The demon walked right up to Inuyasha and said "Stupid half- breed." This angered Inuyasha and he jumped into an attack. The demon simply lifted one of his arms and swatted him away. Inuyasha crashed through the trees until he was too far away to see anymore. Then the demon looked over at Kagome with an evil smile plastered on its face.

"Hiraikotsu." The giant boomerang flew towards the demon. It still had that evil smile. Again it reached up one arm and caught the exterminator's weapon and then crushed it in his arms. He then knocked the surprised exterminator and her pet into the same woods Inuyasha landed in, but with less force.

"Fox fire." Now Shippou was attacking the demon. It picked up the little kitsune and laughed. "Do you really think that if that stupid hanyou could not harm me that you could even scratch me?" He was about to throw the little fox into the woods also when another arrow flew past him.

"Put him down." Kagome was really angry now and tears were streaming down her face. She wasn't sure if her friends were alright. She had to finish off this demon and help them.

The demon made his smile even wider. It let go of Shippou and he fell to the ground. Then, it started charging towards Kagome. Kagome reached for another arrow, but she felt nothing. She was out of arrows!!

Kagome is like a sitting duck. She has no way to protect herself and the monster is heading straight for her, but for some reason, she isn't scared. She isn't even thinking about herself, she is wondering if Inuyasha is alright. She doesn't even seem to be bothered with death. As long as Inuyasha is safe, but she knew that the only way to keep him safe was to defeat this monster herself. But how would she do that? She was out of arrows. She felt a power rise within her. Kagome was ready. She got up and put her hand out towards the demon just like she had done before. She felt the power ready to emerge. The demon was ready to attack. They were both cut off by a flash of red and silver.

The demon sunk its teeth deep into Inuyasha. He screamed in pain. The demon one again threw Inuyasha into the woods. Inuyasha hit a tree, and was knocked unconscious.

Kagome runs to him "Inuyasha, Inuyasha wake up.

"Kukuku, stupid hanyou. I might have even forgotten about him if he had stayed down."

Kagome was really pissed off. Her eyes began to glow an eerie blue. And her body was wrapped in a blue haze. The demon started to back away. Naraku never said anything about this.

"Fuck you, you bastard. You'll pay." (Whoa, did Kagome just swear?) The monster was now running away.

A bright blue light surrounded the entire area. When it disappeared, the demon was completely gone. Nothing was left of it. Kagome looks normal again.

Kagome runs over to Inuyasha. "Inuyasha, are you alright?"

Inuyasha starts to open his eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a scratch."

"I'll go get the medical kit. You wait here okay?" Inuyasha just rolls his eyes.

All of a sudden, he starts coughing. His throat is really dry. He can't stop coughing. He covers his mouth with his hand. When the coughing finally stops he removes his hand which is covered in blood. He wipes it off on his red pants, and then checks to see if there is anything at his mouth. He feels a small trickle of blood. He also wipes that off onto his pants.

"Okay, so lets see how your doing." Kagome starts to take out her emergency kit. She kneels next to Inuyasha and starts to remove hi shirt.

Inuyasha blushes "Uh, Kagome, what are you doing?"

"I'm checking your wound."

"I said it's just a scratch."

"Inuyasha, you can't even move, so how do you plan to stop me?" Kagome removes his outer kimono, then the inner." When Kagome sees his wound, her eyes well up with tears. "Just a scratch huh?" She hears no answer. "Inuyasha?" nothing. She looks over at his face. Blood is coming from the corner of his mouth. There is complete silence.

Kagome moves close to Inuyasha and sets his head on her lap, and cries.

Kagome's tears had stopped, not because she had stopped crying, but because there were no tears left. She had been there for at least four hours now. She didn't want to leave him. She still thought he would wake up and tell her it was all a joke and call her names, but his body did not move.

Then, she heard someone whisper in her ear. It was... Inuyasha's voice!! She looked towards where she had heard the sound. There was no one there. She heard the sound again. He was calling her name. She started running towards the sound. It got louder and louder until it sounded like he was yelling in her ear. Then the noise got soft again, but this time it said "I'm waiting for you Kagome."

The voice had led her to the well. "Is he in my time?"

Kagome stood looking into the well. This would be the last time she would see this place. She did not want to miss this place, with the bad memories that had been formed, but she did miss it. This was the place her and Inuyasha were together.

All of a sudden, she heard footsteps from behind her. Still hoping to see a tall man with silver hair wearing a red kimono, she blurted out "inuyasha?", however it was not who she expected. Instead, she saw a rather tall woman with black hair and brown eyes. Her stare was cold and full of hatred. Kagome was as a mirror image to her. "Shouldn't you be dying now?" Kikyo's face remained the same. "Look, you got your wish. Inuyasha is dead." Her face stained with tears once more, but Kikyo's still did not change. "Don't you get it, you've won. You can be with him now." Kikyo walked right up to Kagome until she was so close that Kagome had to bend back slightly to keep from touching her.

"Silly Girl."

"Eh!"

"He died protecting you, he chose you. Go to him." With that, she pushed Kagome into the well and then disappeared.

Kagome sat at the bottom of the well crying. She knew what she had to do.

Kagome finally got out of the well. She heard laughing inside. She went in to see her mother and Souta having a pillow fight.

"Come join us Kagome."

Kagome turned to her mother, an empty look in her eyes. Everything was gone. There was no happiness, no pain, no life. It was as if her very existence was forced from her being. Her body was lifeless, a zombie. Her heart was an empty nutshell. It had been cracked and the yummy center removed.

Her mother recognized this look and knew that she was not lucky enough to be a zombie. She deserved no punishment, but received the worst of all. Yes, she was very much alive, for a lifeless body feels no pain, but she felt pain, the pain is what made her seem lifeless. Her mother knew what had happened the moment she saw her daughter's eyes. She wanted to pull her close and remove all the pain, but she knew she could not. "Kagome must handle this on her own... just as I did when her father died. I just hope she makes the right decision."

"Hey, Souta, Grandpa (yes, this is Kagome's mother speaking, I seem to remember in the English episodes, she called him "Grandpa" even though, I think, he's her father), why don't we go out to dinner tonight." "Wow, really?" "Yes, but we should leave now to make reservations." "Yay!!! Thanks, Mom, you're the greatest." Souta gave his mother a hug and ran outside. He was followed by Kagome's grandfather. Surprisingly, he didn't even ask about why Kagome was back so soon from the Feudal Era or why she wasn't coming to dinner. Before Kagome's mother walked out, she smiled at Kagome and said "Everything will be alright sweaty, you'll see."

Kagome was glad her mother understood that she needed to be alone, but she was wrong if she thought everything would be alright, she was wrong.

Kagome looked outside the window to make sure that her family was gone. She then walked into the kitchen and grabbed the sharpest knife she could find. She didn't even think twice about this. She walked outside and over to the God tree. She sat down against its trunk and remembered everything that had happened because of this tree. She met a man and fallen in love with her at this tree, and she had also lost him. This was the perfect spot.

Kagome held out her wrist and pressed the knife down hard. Blood flowed freely from the wound. The pain was intense, but she managed to hold the knife with the other hand and slit her other wrist. Everything started to go black, but before her vision was completely gone, she saw Inuyasha come towards her. "Damn it, what have you done to yourself, you stupid girl."

Kagome smiled "Inuyasha."

"Inuyasha?! Who's he?" The man shrugs his shoulders, picks her up, and runs off.

Sorry for those of you that thought it had rurouni kenshin in it. Mediaminer is taking forever to update and I must have forgotten to change that part, sorry. This is just an Inuyasha fanfic.
