11 Night/Day:
It had been a total of two weeks that Kagome was residing with Inuyasha. She grew to not only depend on him when she was ill, but as she got better she grew used to him teaching her how to live in the rain forest. They still shared the bed, but it was purely just for sleep. Though secretly both of them hoped that they would be sharing the bed for other activities.
She found out a lot of things about him, like that he was an orphan. He wasn’t sure where he came from, but a village chief found him and took care of him. When he realized that he was vastly different then the other villagers, he decided to live in the heart of the forest. It was there that he found two pups cowering near their dead mother’s body. He took them in and the three of them lived together since. What he failed to tell her, was that he and his furry companions lived there for decades. And that he wasn’t raised by the villagers, but in Japan. After all that is where Youkai came from right. Or that he was an ex-government agent. But those details weren’t that important.
Kagome was walking down to the hot spring that Inuyasha told her was by the hut. She was alone but sensed no threat of being by herself. She was glad to be out of the house, or hut so to speak. She was tired of being cooped up in a small room with a sexy guy and his two pets for days. The storm passed and her knee and arm were healed. She felt good as new. She felt that if she continued being held prisoner, she might have done something to him that she might regret. Or not.
Despite the fact that she had a few fantasies about him, she didn’t want to sleep with him yet. She still wasn’t at all clear what his purpose was, and she didn’t believe that he saved her because he was a great and nice guy.
Walking past some fallen trees, she felt something hit her head. It felt like a small a corn or small rock. Looking up, she saw a little girl laughing and smiling at her. Feeling no evil in her she frowned and said, “That wasn’t very nice you know?”
She was adorable, with long black hair, with some of it pulled to the side in a pony tail. She like the first little girl looked about 6 or seven. The little girl laughed again and climbed down the tree. Kagome looked at her curiously and let the child approach her. “ Your funny lady.” She said smiling big showing a missing tooth in the front.
Kagome smiled back at her and bent down to her so they were eye level. “What is your name little one?”
“Nope I can’t tell you no I can’t. Not supposed to. But I know yours Kagome.” She said as she started skipping to the direction of the hot spring. Kagome’s eyes narrowed and followed the child.
“Wait, why do you know my name little one.” She asked.
“My friend told me. He said that you are really nice and you saved him.” She said as she continued skipping.
“What friend? Is he a dog? Or a man?” Kagome asked
“No, not brother, though he likes you too. My friend, he’s right over here, you want to talk to him?” the little girl asked as she stopped by some bushes.
Kagome nodded and waited to see what the little girl had in store for her. Out of the bushes came the mongoose. He looked up at the little girl twittered then looked over at Kagome. ‘Oh! It’s him again.’ She thought as she smiled at the girl and looked at the creature that she met yet again.
Looking around, Kagome found herself in a small clearing filled with fragrant flower bushes. ‘So pretty.” She thought, and then looked at the two others. I don’t know how to react to these two.’
“Don’t be afraid Kagome, I wont hurt you, neither will my friend either.” The child said as if reading her thoughts. Kagome sighed knowing that she can relax.
“I wanted to meet you so bad! I heard so many things about you.” The child said excitedly. “ I wanted to show you my favorite place in the whole world do you like it?” she chattered.
“It’s very nice here, do you play here often?” Kagome asked humoring the child.
“Uh huh, sometimes I play with all my friends, and sometimes I play with just him.” She said pointing to the mongoose.
“There’s another little girl that is by herself a lot too, isn’t there?” Kagome asked suddenly.
At the thought of the other girl, everything around them grew dark. The wind started to pick up suddenly as if a storm was approaching.
“You shouldn’t have mentioned her Kagome.” The child said sadly. The mongoose suddenly fled as if his life depended on it. The child walked up to Kagome and took her by the hand and led her to another path.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know. What do we do?” Kagome cried as her senses told her that something dreadful was to happen.
“We just let it happen. You will see her sooner or later anyway. You know she doesn’t like you much.” The child said mournfully.
Kagome gulped as she saw the white haired child appear with her entourage of dogs.
“We see that you didn’t leave yet Kagome.” The White-haired child said as she folded her arms on her chest and her lips set like a pout.
“We were playing, she didn’t want to leave because brother would be sad.” The raven-haired child said.
“We don’t care what you were doing. Leave now!” She said.
“No wait, can’t she do anything to make you like her like brother does?” The child at Kagome’s side asked.
“NO! She has the smell of danger on her, brother will be hurt. We don’t want brother hurt.” The white haired child said. Her face started to turn red in anger.
“What do you mean danger? I’m not dangerous.” Kagome said. Looking at the child she knew that it was futile in trying to change the child’s mind.
The little girl who still held Kagome’s hand dropped it suddenly, and walked to the other child. She gave the other girl a hug and looked at Kagome and said sadly. “You still have to prove yourself to her. If you do not, you will die.” With that the raven-haired child walked away.
Still left to fend for herself she asked the remaining child. “How can I prove myself to you?”
“You can’t, it’s impossible. You can’t understand. Now leave, I will give you running start. I’ll even count to 50.” The child said. With no hesitation, Kagome bolted. At the number 50 the child commanded her beasts to attack mode.
Kagome immediately ran toward the only place of salvation in the jungle. Inuyasha’s hut. She didn’t even make it halfway, when suddenly the dogs pounced her on.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” she screamed as the began to tear her to shreds
----------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
It was the mid-morning when a scream was heard coming from the Hut. Inuyasha who was hunting heard the blood-curdling scream raced to his home. Within minutes he was there, and saw Kagome thrashing franticly in her sleep.
He was at her side trying to wake her up. Her eyes immediately flew opened and she looked around as if expecting her greatest enemy. He pulled her to his lap, and held her close. Not knowing what to say, he said absolutely nothing. He could smell her fear, but didn’t know how to relieve her of the problem.
About ten minutes later, when he was certain she was calm enough he asked what any normal person would ask. “What happened? Did you have a bad dream?”
“God, it was a dream, or vision or something, I wish I didn’t have them. Two children, one scary, one not. I wish I didn’t have them. Tried to kill me.” She said looking at the door like someone at anytime was going to come in and get her.
Not trying to understand what she was saying, he nodded and put her back on the bed. He gave her a warm smile and told her. ”Don’t worry about the dream. You’re still a little feverish. You are safe here. You have me, Kiba and Tama. We won’t let anyone hurt you.”
She smiled at him, knowing that he spoke the truth, and thanked him. He smiled again and leaned down to place his lips to hers, “I promise, I will kill anyone or anything that would try to hurt you.” Then he deepened the kiss.
Whatever anxiety Kagome had disappeared instantly, as she opened her mouth to welcome his kiss. She moaned in protest when he pulled away, then suddenly blushed at his boldness. “I’ll leave Kiba here. He can show you were the hot spring is nearby incase you’d like a bath. I went to a village and got you some soaps. They’re on the table. I’ll be back by twilight.”
Kagome immediately looked up at him and asked. “Where are you going?”
Realizing that she didn’t want to be alone, he said, “Hunting we need more then fruits to live off of.” Nodding Kagome agreed, but still had a slight fear on her face. Kiba walked in the hut and immediately planted himself next to Kagome. She smiled at the dog and started to pet his head.
Satisfied at the fact that Kagome was safe and occupied he headed out along with Tama.
It took him one hour to get to his destination. He told her that he was going hunting. That was true. Yes he was going He had a score to settle with two little troublemakers.
“Rin! Kanna! You two show yourselves this instant!” He bellowed
