A/N: Once again, thank you to my reviewers! You guys make me happy! Cookies for everyone! I hope everyone enjoys this chapter, I think this is the longest chapter I've written yet. Have I mentioned that this is my first real fic? Obvious much? Haha, I think so. But thank you all for your support!! Once again, I really do have a lot of music here. It's strange because when I write, it's basically like a movie in my head. Some parts need music so they have more of an impact… (I'm such a dork. XD) Anyway, let's get started….
Disclaimer: I wish I did own Inuyasha, but I don't. I do, however; own an Inu plushy! Wee!

Chpt. 5 Dragula
It was a cool, early September morning; the moon seemed to smile on the world as it slowly descended the dark sky, bidding its farewells to the still earth.
A good way from a quiet, lifeless Shrine, in the center of downtown Tokyo, stood a large, gray, corporate building. Large, tinted windows adorned every which side of the building like dark eyes, neatly aligned row by row, up and down, left to right. Most people didn't have any business in this peculiar office building; only supervisors, executives, businessmen and women alike graced its interior.
To the public eye, it depicted the plainness of any old, office building, allowing the employers and employees inside to go about their business undisturbed and unnoticed…most of the time.
But one supervisor bastard had slipped, if only momentarily. It was enough for him; it was enough for all of them. They had waited long and patiently, week after week, month after month, and now all that waiting had paid off. That idiot had given them an inch, and soon all those corporate assholes would find out that they had decided to take a mile.
And now, after careful calculating and planning, they were ready, and they were gonna show everybody just who they thought they were messing with.
“Ready?”
“I was born ready.” Amber eyes blazed.
“Wait for it…”
A small, crimson sphere ascended into the dark sky above the building, briefly shimmering before bursting into a million small, glowing pieces.
“Let's ace this bitch.”
As if on cue, several dark silhouettes emerged from their hiding places around the empty streets, silently creeping towards the towering building. A few seconds later, the two glass doors to the main entrance broke apart, allowing the dark figures permission for entry.
The entrance to the office building led into a large, dark foyer. Black leather sofas and seats adorned the middle of the room, circling a round, glass coffee table. A rich, plush, Persian carpet graced the white, marble floor. An elegant, brick fireplace could be seen on the wall across from the entrance, in between two staircases, one on each far corner of the foyer.
The slightest nod from one of the figures sent the rest of the shady bunch running up the stairs, throughout the dark building, and towards their main destination.
At every new floor, the air around the building became thick, heavy, almost unbearable.
Had the intruders not been youkai, they wouldn't have lasted long, not to mention, they wouldn't have been able to see very well in the dark abyss.
“Oi, found it!” Icy blue eyes darkened as the youkai easily lifted an offending black bookcase that revealed a large, bolted door in its wake. The demons had scattered throughout the building, up and down floors, hell bent on locating their prize. And now they had found it, on the 24th floor, hidden behind a stupid bookcase, behind a bolted door, which was also probably secured with a padlock security system.
Several other youkai who were on the top floor of the building joined the ookami demon as he heaved the bookcase aside, wood splintering and breaking under the impact with the floor.
It hadn't been a challenge for them to get into the building unnoticed. Though the corporate `assholes' knew how to conceal and secure their secret, they had gotten cocky and underestimated their enemies. Getting into the tightly secured office building had been only too easy, sending an inside job into the building impersonating one of the businessmen, no one ever saw it coming.
Now, with the security system down, in the wee hours of the morning, stood a small army of youkai inside the defenseless building, hungry eyes burning with a fiery intensity. The only thing standing in the way of their prize was a bolted door, another security system and…
“Fuck. The fucking door is blessed!” growled one of the demons, red eyes narrowing down at the burn mark marring his left hand.
“Serves you right for trying to play hero,” jeered a fox youkai, emerald eyes dancing with laughter.
“Hah, they truly underestimated us,” the ookami demon laughed, taking out a small, silver ring from his coat pocket, “ I'm offended.”
Placing the small ring before the bolted door, all the demons stepped back as a bright, blue light filtered through the library room, the tiny inscriptions around the ring emitting the vibrant glow.
As the spiritual barrier around the door became visible, the blue light instantly disappeared, the barrier's energy becoming violent, glowing multiple shades of crimson.
A pregnant silence fell over the room as it suddenly became pitch black again, the glowing lights shutting off as if someone had turned them out with a flip of a switch. A slight crackle echoed through the room as the barrier cracked and shattered, a few demons letting out the breath they'd been holding.
“Too easy,” smirked the fox demon, snapping the fingers on his right hand to create a small, blazing, azure flame.
“Hold on, the system's still up.” Stated the red-eyed demon, eyes flashing like lightning as he looked down at a small, black device, much like a radar.
“Shit, we're wasting time.” Another ookami demon sporting a mohawk hissed.
“Shuddup, he'll get it.” Amber eyes rolled, ears twitching in annoyance. `Or else…'

“Hmm..” Violet eyes narrowed, dark brows furrowing together in concentration.
Hacking into the building's security system had been a bit of a challenge but nothing he couldn't handle. Being a human, the populace within the building had nothing to suspect, too busy with their `work' to notice the imposter as he weaved his way around the offices and different floors.
Once he had reached the top floor, all he had to do was make sure to be the last one to leave, move one of the ceiling tiles and squeeze his way to the power lines and electrical boxes.
He had kept a close eye on his watch, waiting until the set time to clandestinely disarm the building and send out the signal. Those bastards never had a clue.
The easiest part of the task was over, now he had to make sure he didn't cut and rewire the wrong wires, they couldn't chance getting caught, not now.
Wiping away the sweat from his brow, the young man's eyes widened. “Aha,” skillful hands carefully snipped and rewired three wires. “Done.”
Below him he could hear the roars and cheers of victory.
“Took him long enough,” growled the red-eyed demon as he put away the black device.
“Break it.” Demanded the fox demon, eyes fixating on the bolted door.
“Keh. With pleasure.” A vicious growl echoed throughout the room, followed by the violent sounds of the bolted door breaking and exploding into many pieces.
“Calm the fuck down, sparky.” Icy blue eyes rolled as the ookami walked towards the door.
“Bite me, asshole.” The inu-hanyou spat back, following the wolf demon.
All eyes widened as the small group of youkai gathered around the entrance to another room. It was a small, dark, damp room covered in dirt and dust. Many shelves and boxes graced the wooden walls, and at the back of the room, placed on a small silver pedestal sat a black, velvety box.
“That it?” whispered the fox demon, narrowing his gaze on the small object.
In one of the lower floors of the building black-clad footsteps could be heard shuffling up a staircase.
“Shh,” hushed the red-eyed demon, ears vigorously straining, “ hear that?”
“Shit!”
“Son of a bitch!”
“What the fuck do we do now?”
“We do as planned,” the hanyou gruffly stated as he rushed into the room and grabbed the box, shoving it in his black coat pocket. “Let's go.”
At full speed all the demons rushed out of the room, jumping whole staircases and weaving through office mazes. At the foot of one of the staircases, the small army was met with wide eyes and twisted faces.
“You! What the hell are you all doing here?!” bellowed a stout security guard, hurriedly using his walkie-talkie to call for back up. “This is private property!”
As another bunch of blue-clad security guards rushed into the room, guns cocked and loaded, ready for firing, a loud roar shook the building.
“Move the fuck out of our way!” Shouted the head ookami demon, shoving two security guards out of the way.
A loud gunshot reverberated through the room, followed by angry screams, yells, roars and cries.
The slightest rays of light peeked through the horizon, alerting the world that dawn was nearing its arrival. Groans and moans of pain were the only sounds in the still room, as the bunch of security guards lay scattered around the room, bloody and beaten.
As the small army of youkai finished beating the last of the security guards, the inu-hanyou stood right in front of what looked like the head of security, towering over the injured man as he growled. The group of youkai dusted themselves off, trying to straighten their disheveled appearance before continuing their walk towards the exit.
“Tell your corporate bastards The Assemblage says thanks,” he smirked as he threw a small, orange coin at the semi-conscious security guard and then left the room, his long, silver hair and black coat swaying with his movements.

“Early in the morning it was reported that bandits had broken into Chouhou Corporations. Officials have yet to determine if anything of importance was stolen. More on this story later on.” A short, brown haired anchorwoman stated as the T.V. continued on to a commercial about cleaning appliances.
“My, my, how horrible!” Miori shook her head as she sipped her coffee. “What's the world coming to these days…”
“Morning mom.” Kagome greeted as she trudged into the kitchen dressed in a pair of jeans and a gray sweater.
“Good morning, Kagome, sleep ok?”
“Uh.. hehe yeah…” Kagome lied, praying that the dark circles under her eyes wouldn't betray her. “Just fine.”
“Oh, what's this,” Miori tilted her head in confusion as she walked over and grabbed the smooth, silver ring hanging from a silver chain around Kagome's neck. “ Is it new?”
`Shit!' “Um..no, it's just something I found lying around.” Kagome tensed up, averting her mother's scrutinizing gaze.
“Hm, well it's very nice, dear. But what's this writi-”
“Uh, mom! I should really get going,” Kagome grinned sheepishly; stepping away from her mother's grasp, “ don't wanna be late again.”
“Alright, Kagome. Have a good day.” Miori waved at her daughter's retreating form.
“Bye mom, love you!” Kagome shouted over her shoulder before closing the door behind her. ` Close one…'
Ten minutes later Souta walked into the kitchen, rubbing the left over sleep from his eyes. “Morning, mom. Where's Kagome?”
“Oh my, Souta, your sister already left.” Miori wiped the round, kitchen table clean with a blue, dishrag.
“Oh oookay…” Souta yawned. “Wait, what?!”
Miori giggled, “ I'll walk with you, Souta. We haven't had a good walk in ages.”
Souta's mouth fell open. `Wa..walk to school? With my mom? Hell. No.'

“Hahaha, higher Inuyasha! Higher!” squealed a small, raven-haired girl. The warm, night air drying her tear-streaked cheeks.
“Higher, Kid? You sure?” laughed a young, eleven-year-old hanyou as he leapt into the air for the 100th time that night, a slight wind ruffling his hair as it blended with the black mane that was of the girl on his back.
Inuyasha had found Kagome huddle against a tree in the forest near the Shrine, eyes and nose red from crying, brown orbs glazed with sadness. She was wearing a yellow sundress with big, white flowers scattered throughout the fabric. Dirt and grass stains marred the young girl's attire. Her dark hair falling just over her shoulders, small twigs and leaves protruding from the shiny strands. Large, red, dirt-covered abrasions adorned the young girl's elbows and knees, crimson liquid trickling from the wounds.
Anger had ripped through Inuyasha as the small girl quietly whispered her story, fidgeting with her dress as she tried her hardest to maintain a calm, steady composure.
`The other boys…. They wouldn't give me my dolly back. I fell and they.. they laughed and pushed me back on the ground.'
The hanyou growled in response, suppressing the need to track down the boys who had done this to such an innocent girl and rip them apart, limb from limb.
`Inuyasha…what's a hanyou?' the girl had whispered, brown eyes glimmering in the moonlight.
`What?'
`The boys… they called me stupid for hanging out with a …a hanyou. What's that?'
Anger and disgust throbbed through the young boy, a silvery curtain falling over his eyes as he lowered his head in defeat. Someone else had suffered because of him… because of what he was. He couldn't do that to this little girl, she was too small, too fragile; he would never subject her to that kind of torture. Not again, not if he could help it.
`They're right, Kid. You shouldn't hang out with me. Go home, Kagome.' He whispered, squeezing his eyes shut as millions of memories flooded his mind, as all the pain came back in violent waves, crashing against him.
A small, soft hand rubbed against his cheek, amber eyes slowly opening, colliding with sad, chocolate orbs. `Inuyasha…'
The hanyou quickly blinked, trying to erase any evidence of the pain and sorrow, only a single tear escaped the dam, traveling a path down the young boy's face.
`I don't care what you are, Inuyasha,' the young girl smiled as she sat down beside her friend, snuggling closer to the boy's shoulder, ` I like you just the way you are.'
Amber eyes widened in shock. She didn't care what he was? Didn't she realize he was tainted blood? Always running away, followed by curses and rejection. This small, fragile girl beside him… she didn't care, not like they did, not like the rest of the world.
And now as the young hanyou raced through the forest, Shrine ward-bound, he couldn't help but feel content. Tonight, just for tonight, he wouldn't care what they thought either.
“Did you touch them yet?” teased Inuyasha as he set back down and continued running on the mossy forest floor.
“Not yet! You have to go higher!” laughed the little girl, never once tightening her hold as the couple rode on into the night.
“Alright Kagome, you'll get to touch the stars, hang on!” And they both burst into the starry, night sky once again.

Kagome softly laughed to herself as the memory vanished, swept away with the cool air that rustled the leaves above her in the mighty god tree.
`I never did get to touch those stars….' The girl mused, leaning her back against the rough bark of Goshinboku, lifting her gaze upwards towards the stars.
“Heh, how silly…”
“What is?” came a gruff voice from above her.
“Jesus, don't do that!” Kagome sharply inhaled, bringing her hand up to her heart.
“Keh. You really do scare too easily.” Scoffed Inuyasha as he softly landed on the ground beside the raven-haired girl.
“Mean as ever,” Kagome rolled her eyes, bringing her knees to her chest as she wrapped her arms around them.
“You love it,” the hanyou laughed, taking a seat beside the annoyed girl. “So watcha doing out here all alone? I mean if I can scare you twice without meaning too… think what bandits could do”
“Bandits, huh?” Kagome arched an eyebrow. “Well then, good thing you're just a mean little doggie.” She reached up and rubbed one of his ears.
“Oi, I'm not mean, bitch,” he argued, tilting his head to give Kagome better access to the appendage. Ever since they were younger Inuyasha only trusted Kagome with his ears. Kagome and his mother. Besides the two of them no one would ever dream of touching his fuzzy, triangular ears. Anyone who tried got a good ass kicking.
`I wonder if he lets Kikyou touch his ears…' “So how's uh.. Kikyou?” She hesitantly asked, ceasing her assault on his ear. `Oh god! Why did I ask? Oh no, he's going to find out! Damn! Damn! Damn!'
“She's good, busy with work.” He stated nonchalantly, pointing to his ears for Kagome to continue.
“Here,” Kagome motioned for the hanyou to sit his head in her lap so she could access the small triangles better.
Amber eyes closed in contentment, a soft rumble coming from the hanyou as Kagome's long, nimble fingers massaged and rubbed at the fuzzy appendages.
“So how's school going for ya, Kid? Having fun being a senior?”
Kagome sighed, “Hah, it's alright. I just can't wait until it's over.”
“Well it just started,” Inuyasha mumbled, the soft rumbling slightly increasing.
“Yeah…” Kagome trailed off, realizing that this was the closest she and Inuyasha had been in a long time. Brown eyes outlined the muscular features of the hanyou's face, the smooth, tanned skin, the curves of his full, pink lips. He really was something to behold. Feeling her face getting hot, Kagome averted her gaze, fixating it on the starry sky above them.
The two stayed in comfortable silence for some time, enjoying the quiet serenity in each other's company. The sound of Inuyasha's rumbling filtering the night air around them, bringing back the sense of nostalgia Kagome had felt only too many times before.
“What's that, Kagome?”
Kagome's head snapped back down, molten gold colliding with brown. As her gaze followed Inuyasha's she realized he was looking at the silver ring on the chain.
`Oh no….'
“It looks familiar…” he reached for it, maintaining his position on Kagome's lap.
