Chapter Five

See with unclouded eyes

Kagome stood in the girl's washroom as she pondered what had just happened. Sango stood beside her, a thoughtful look on her usually calm, pleasant face."Why do you think he asked me, Sango?" Kagome asked worriedly. Sango shrugged, her face filled with confusion. "I don't really know, Kagome-chan. I have asked many people and they are curious as well." Kagome sighed and sat on the sink.





Sango continued. "Also, from expeirence, Sesshomaru is a very enigimatic person. He is probably curious about you, a ningen, who stood up to him where other's wont." Kagome blinked."You mean, it might just be curiousity and nothing more?" Sango nodded and proceeded in washing her hands.





"Hai. You are a very curious and puzziling person, Kagome-chan. You take hits and assualts from Kagura yet come back for more. You don't let anyone push you around and you aren't easily fazed. No wonder Sesshomaru is intrested in knowing you! He is probably wondering about your mental stability probably!" The two girls laughed at that.




Leaving the washroom, they continued down the hall to History class. "Sango..umm..ano..er..could..you..possibly help me find an outfit?" Kagome whispered, her face going red. Sango turned to face her, a brow raised in amusement. "Sure Kagome." Kagome blinked."O Sango! Tonight we were supposed to work on our History project!" Sango flicked her hand in the air in a common gesture."It's okay, Kagome. We can work on it tomorrow night. Trust me, History isn't getting any older."





Giggling, they stepped in and continued to their seats in the corner of the room. Miroku smiled lecherously."Ah my beautiful maidens! You have come to liven up this wretched soul's world." The two girls rolled their eyes and sat near the pervert. "So what did we miss?" Sango asked. The teacher didn't really care if they were late.





Miroku showed them his note book. "We are learning about the Sengoku Jidia now. It was between the 1600's-1700's. We're learning about the Buddhism that took place. Also of the youkai and ningen wars." The group grew uncomfortable with all the youkai in the classroom. There weren't many ningen's in Hakanshi High.





There was the three of them, Eri, Ayumi, Hatomi, Hojo, Houshio, Bankotsou, Jakotsou, Kikyo and some girl called Sumi. The rest were youkai. The group of ningens had a houshi and miko class. It's where they trained to control and harvest their powers and to fend of youkai.





Suprisingly, and unfortunatly, a teacher called Uinuso Koiski taught youkai how to defeat and defend against houshi's and miko's as well. Kagome sighed as the teacher proceeded teaching the lesson.




Agitation and worry unsettled her. She had never been on a date before. Everyone had been too scared or spiteful to ask her out. Until now. Chewing on her lip, Kagome ignored the fact that Sesshomaru and his gang were just a row infront of them.

Kouga pouted. "So you got the bitch on a date? So what. It's not like she's gonna just lay down and say 'Fuck me Sessho!' You haven't won the bet yet." The ookami growled, his ice blue eyes like chipped ice. Sesshomaru smirked. "Yet you haven't even had a proper conversation with her yet, last time I remembered wolf. Do not be spiteful." Sesshomaru said taughtingly. Kouga growled and leaned forward to continue taking notes.





Hiten shrugged ."I don't care really. I love Yura." The youkai sighed at the reminder of his true, violent love. Sesshomaru sneered at this. "Love? Such a useless emotion, Hiten." The TaiYoukai glowered at the once proud and vicious youkai that had turned to jell-o. Hiten smiled. "Ah but it is a nice emotion, Sesshomaru, especailly when someone returns it! Kagura sure is affectionate." The guys chuckled at that.




Sesshomaru leaned back in his chair. "She is affectionate to anything with a heartbeat." That caused more chuckles. Sesshomaru looked from the corner of his eye at the ningen behind him. She chewed on her pencil, her brow furrowed in concentration. Stupid ningen. She was really asking for something to happen to her by accepting his proposal. He didn't really pay attention to the fact he pratically forced her into a date with him.





Seshomaru watched as she raised her head. She gave a little smile at him and blushed and continued her work. Sesshomaru blinked. "She's melting like a snowman in Egypt." Naraku muttered to him. Sesshomaru smiled smugly."Of course. As I said, I'll have the money before the end of the month. I'll play with her a bit though." Sesshomaru said casually, his golden eyes hard with truimph and confidence. Naraku smiled evilly.




"You truly are cruel, Sesshomaru-sama." Sesshomaru nodded, his golden eyes cold again."Yes. Yes I am." He murmured deadly.

Kagome felt her cheeks flaming. Why had she smiled at him? He asks her out to and she is smiling at him! 'I am going so low. I think I just passed the Titanic." She thought glowering. Sango noticed Kagome's scowl. By the way the girl kept glaring at the peice of paper, she made it seem like the sheet had said something to upset her.




'The guy forces me into a date tonight, and I'm like a ice cube on hot pavement! O how the mighty fall!' Kagome thought scornfully."Dajibou?" Sango asked as she patted Kagome on the back soothingly.




Getting startled out of her train of thought, Kagome smiled cheerfully. "Of course! How could I not be?" She said with false cheerfulness. Miroku twitched, his violet eyes wide with fear. Leaning to his equally frightened love, the houshi cupped his hand over his mouth and whispered to the silent Sango."You know, she scares me when she smiles like that." He whispered in her ear. Sango nodded, her eyes wide. It was scary when Kagome tried to act happy when she wasn't.
