Author's Note:

 

This is a pretty straight-forward retelling of the whole saga - through the lens of the intriguing emotional tapestry woven between Kagome, InuYasha and Kikyo.

 

I've always wanted to explore the emotional interplay between these characters and their complex relationship, as it has so many layers. The manga in particular (I give big points to the Viz translators here) can be so powerful with such sparse dialog and emotive illustrations. That having been said, I do find that the dialog is a little too sparse to explain the complex emotional interplay between Kagome, InuYasha and Kikyo, so I've fleshed it out a bit on my own to try to make sense of it. The best part is that their relationships have a great deal of psychological integrity. I just love that about it. I've sited the manga chapters from the Viz publications and Rijk translations in case you want to go back and refresh your memory of the illustrations and dialog. Sorry, this one doesn't' have much humor because, well, because this particular story arc isn't very humorous! Next one, I promise.
