An arrow shot close to Inuyasha's chest before the inu hanyou had the chance to run. It was shot by the miko Kikyo. The arrow hit a tree, instead of her target. Stained with blood, the miko glared angrily at him. As Inuyasha began to run once more, Kikyo quickly release one of her arrows, pinning him to a nearby tree.
“Ki-Kikyo…” he mumbled as he slowly fell to sleep. “The Jewel,” she muttered as she picked up the Shikon Jewel. “For such a thing…” The miko quickly collapsed, blood following out of her body and onto her kimono. The townspeople crowded her, along with her sister, Kaede.
“Lady Kikyo,” one muttered with concern, “Your wounds…” “Please sister. We have to take care of you,” said Kaede, trying to support her sister. Kikyo stared at her little sister and smiled. “I will not live. Listen well, Kaede,” she said, trying to be as clear as possible. “Take this and burn it with my remains. It must never fall into the wrong hands again!”
Soon after, Kikyo died. Kaede and the townspeople knew what to do. They burned her, setting the Shikon Jewel between her fingers. The people cried for their loss. Most had tears coming done their faces; others sobbed silently. Kaede took one last look at her sister, tears streamed down her face. “Goodbye….sister…”

Near the other side of the funeral, Inuyasha `stood' there, sleeping. The arrow stayed in place, not moved by time or the weight of Inuyasha's body. The wind blew his white hair and the trees began to rustle loudly. No funeral for him.
