Chapter 5
Kagome finally got out of school. She was in a happy mood since she aced the pop quiz her teacher gave her. She climbed the shrine steps and headed toward her house. Souta ran out with a surprise look on his face. “Kagome-chan. I didn’t know you were here! When did you get back? How’s Inuyasha? How long ya staying for?” Souta asked all at once. “Hello to you too, Souta. I got back yesterday, Inuyasha is fine, and I’m staying until the end of next week.” Kagome said in one breath. Kagome walked upstairs to her room and started to dress in her pajamas. Kagome looked in the mirror and took down her hair. She looked down and washed her hands with hot water. When she looked back up in the mirror, Kagome could have sworn that she saw a glint of silver hair fly out of sight. ‘Oh, great. Now Inuyasha is going to freak me out by spying on me.’ Kagome thought. She walked out of her bathroom and yelled. “Inuyasha!! Ya know if you want to talk to me.” There was no answer. Kagome shook her head and headed to her room. She looked out her window and noticed it was dark. Her eyes felt heavy and dry. Kagome stumbled over to her bed and drifted off to sleep. As a restful Kagome slept, a shadowed figure watched her.
Inuyasha woke up to see Sesshomaru standing over him. “What’re you starin’ at?” Inuyasha said, a little startled to know that he was being watched.
“I was merely wondering when you would wake up. It’s mid day right now.” Sesshomaru said as he walked out. Sesshomaru looked at his palm, there he held a family heirloom. His mother gave it to him to give to his mate. It was a blue-green cresant moon with a silver chain. Sesshomaru tucked it away into his robes as he heard someone walking by. Inuyasha watched him walk off. Inuyasha started running toward the forest, heading straight for Goshinkbu. When he got there, he saw a miko with soul collectors flying around her. ‘Kikyo.’ He thought. “Hello, Inuyasha.” Kikyo greeted. He completely forgot about everything, forgot about Kagome.
“Kikyo…” Inuyasha studdered. He suddenly felt his heart jump. Inuyasha drew in a deep breath, as he did, he could smell Kikyo’s scent. His closed his eyes as Kikyo’s scent soothed him. He opened his eyes to find her facing him. He gazed upon her as his mind went blank.
He outstretched his arms and pulled Kikyo towards him. Inuyasha stoog there with Kikyo in his arms, his mind blank, his heart racing. Kikyo pulled away to look into his amber orbed eyes while he stared into her blue-gray jewels. Inuyasha moved his lips towards hers to land a passionate kiss. Kikyo opened her mouth to let Inuyasha’s tongue to swarm through it. She put her tongue on Inuyasha’s lips and gently licked them. He then pulled away with his mind blown away. “Kikyo…” he said shocked by the passionate kiss they shared. But soon felt so much guilt as it washed over him. His mind instantly flickered a vision of him and Kagome. As Kikyo flew away with her soul collectors carrying her, Inuyasha flattened his ears. ‘What was Kagome gonna do? It’ll break her heart.” He thought guiltily. He sat at Goshinkbu’s roots, thinking. He heard running in the bushes but paid no attention to it. He just sat there, alone to himself.
Kagome looked at her schedule and found that she had made up all of her work and decided to go to the Feudal Era earl. She turned to her book bag and started to stuff Hojo’s medical supplies in it. Kagome slung the book bag over her shoulder and started to head downstairs to the kitchen. She set her book bag down on the counter and started to pull snacks from the caninet. She put the snacks in her bag and headed out the door leaving a note behind for her mother, telling her that she went to the Feudal Era early. Kagome jumped down the well and climbed out the other side. She started to the village when she saw soul collectors. Kagome put her bag by the well and followed the soul collectors to a clearing that had Goshinkbu in it. She stood behind a tree watching Kikyo stare at Goshinkbu. ‘What is Kikyo doing here?’ she asked herself silently. Suddenly, Inuyasha came into view. As she watched the two become passionate, tears escaped through her eyes. Kagome knelt down and cried silently. She turned around to see Kikyo had gone and left Inuyasha sitting at the base of Goshinkbu. Kagome ran away from the tree and the village until she got to a little stream.
Kagome started to wash her face in the stream when she heard someone behind her. She looked at the silver haired man with golden eyes. “Sesshomaru? What are you doing here?” asked Kagome sadly. Sesshomaru just stared at her. Kagome was standing now, Sesshomaru could see her at her fullest. He lowered his cloud, draped Kagome over his shoulder, and flew away to his castle. Kagome didn’t struggle or fight. She just hung there limp, not moving. Sesshomaru could sense her depression growing and for some reason it made him angry. Sesshomaru may not have liked humans but he had enough honor to respect them, especially women. Sesshomaru’s castle was peeking over the trees. He landed in front of the door and marched in. He took Kagome to her room and laid her on the bed. On the way, Kagome fell asleep. She lay there on the purple silk sheets. “Kagura, Ayami, clean her up and change her.”Sesshomaru ordered. Kagura went to the bathroom to prepare her bath while Ayami chose a kimono for her. Both hulled Kaome into the bathroom and undressed her, then set her into the warm water. Ayami went to get shampoo while Kagura started washing Kagome’s body. Both servants finished washing her and started dressing her in the chosen kimono. The kimono was black with blue flowers and Sesshomaru’s family crest on it. Kagura took blue make up and put it on Kagome’s eyes while Ayami put thong socks over her feet. Kagura and Aymai left Kagome on her bed, her hair weaved into a beautiful style. Both servants reported to Lord Sesshomaru and left for more errands. Sesshomaru entered Kagome’s room and stood over the limp body that lye on the bed. ‘No ningen has any effect on me. Why does this ningen effect me so?’ Sesshomaru thought. He continued to stare at Kagome, not blinking, not once.
