Chapter 6: Inuyasha and the Dream


Inuyasha sat there at Goshinkbu when he sniffed the air and smelled a hint of jasmine and honey with the strongest smell of tears. Inuyasha sniffed again and smelled a demon lord mixed with the scent. ‘Kagome? What is she doing back? She’s not supposed to be back until the end of next week, and what did Sesshomaru do to her?’ Inuyasha ran towards the smell, the scent getting stronger with each step. He came to a little stream and suddenly smelled a burst of jasmine and honey that almost threw him off his feet. He jumped across the stream when the smell cut off. ‘That bastard must’ve flown away. Great! Now I have to travel all the way to his palace just to get Kagome.’ He thought angrily.


Sesshomaru was in the kitchen eating lunch when he heard a loud bang on the palace door. Kagura went to open it but Sesshomaru stopped her.
“Let me handle this.” He said sternly.
“Yes my lord.” Kagura obeyed.
He opened the door and found an angry hanyou staring at him.
“What did you do with Kagome, you blood-thirsty bastard!!!”
Inuyasha screamed.
“Little brother, you are now in my element. I will not take such language. You will address me as Lord Sesshomaru.” Sesshomaru said monotone.
“I’ll ‘address’ you as what ever I want! Now what did you do with her!” Inuyasha was getting aggravated now and could see that Sesshomaru was enjoying it.
“I don’t think the ningen would want you back after she saw what you did, what you did with Kikyo.” He said calmly.

He was eyeing Inuyasha now, wondering what he might say. Inyasha lowered his ears. ‘How could I be so stupid!?! I knew I was going to break her heart and now I have.’
“At least let me see her, Sesshomaru.” Inuyasha said calmly. Sesshomaru called one of his servants.
“Ayame, direct Inuyasha to our guest’s room.” Ayame led Inuyasha up stairs and down corridors when she opened the door to let him inside. She left them alone while Inuyasha walked over to Kagome’s bed side. ‘She looks so beautiful. How could I have broken something so precious?’ he picked up her hand and suddenly saw a vision of her. He quickly let go and thought ‘What kind of magic is this?’ he grabbed her hand again and saw Kagome standing there, staring at him.
“Hello Inuyasha.” She said calmly.
“Kagome? Where am I?” he asked.
“In my mind. I have brought you here using my miko powers. I have brought you here to show you my dreams. I want you to know something.”

Inuyasha suddenly found Kagome sitting on the green grass in the prairie when he saw another Inuyasha stood up behind her. He saw Kagome stand up and started to cry in the Inuyasha’s arms. Inuyasha came closer to the couple. He heard Kaagome say I love you to the Inuyasha in front of her. He sat down on the grass watching the couple become pure. The real Kagome came up next to Inuyasha, also watching the couple.
“Shall I take you to another dream?” she asked monotone.
“Yes” he replied.
The scenery suddenly changed from mid day to dark, the wind blowing wildly. Inuyasha saw a crying, raven haired Kagome by a tree. He came closer when she started screaming.
“Inuyasha!! You can’t leave me!! Don’t leave me here!!”
Inuyasha watched the suffering Kagome scream. He felt an aching pain in his chest as he held on to it. The suffering Kagome screamed I love you over and over again.
“Shall I take you to another dream?” she asked. ‘I never thought I was hurting her this much.’ He looked at Kagome, ‘there was no warmth in her eyes nor the sweet smell I know. She just let go because of me. I killed her.’ Inuyasha thought.
“Yes” he said heart broken.
She took him to the next dream and said “This is my current dream. Watch.” It was mid day and Inuyasha and Kikyo were standing by Goshinkbu.
“I saw you two. This vision keeps replaying in my mind.” Kagome said sadly. Inuyasha watched the couple become passionate and started to move closer. As he did, he saw a raven-haired girl, watching the couple from behind a tree. Inuyasha got closer to the girl. Kagome had tears running down her cheeks as she fell to her knees. Inuyasha got out in front of her and reached out to touch her arm, but as he did so, his hand went through her. The girl got up and started running. Inuyasha knew where she was going and suddenly saw a glint of silver fly by. He followed her all the way to the stream and then saw Sesshomaru walk out of the shadows.

“What’re you doing here?” she asked. Inuyasha watched Sesshomaru grab Kagome and throw her over his shoulder. He saw that Kagome hadn’t fought or argued with Sesshomaru. ‘Kagome, why don’t you fight back?’ Inuyasha thought as he watched Sesshomaru fly away.
“I hope now you know. Shall I take you to another dream?” Kagome said sternly.
“No, please, no more.” Inuyasha begged. “I’m sorry Kagome. I didn’t know you have suffered so greatly.”
“I just wanted you to know how much I love you before I let go completely.” Kagome said with a tear streaming down her face. Inuyasha looked at her shocked at what she was saying.
“Completely? Would you still be here with me?”
“No. Once I let go, my soul will die away, I will die.” Kagome kept staring ahead, trying not to look at Inuyasha.
“Kagome don’t leave m. I really do care about you.” He pleaded.

“I know you do. I care about you too, maybe a little too much.” Kagome said quietly.
“What do you mean?”
“I’m sorry Inuyasha, but I care a great deal about you and gave you my whole heart. When I saw you and Kikyo, my heart broke. It hurt me so much to see you and Kikyo because I love you so very much.” Kagome studdered as a tear fell to the ground.
“Kagome, I don’t want you to leave. Kikyo, I promised my self to her and I can’t break away unless she releases me from the promise.” Inuyasha explained, trying to convince her not to let go.
“You should go. Sesshomaru will be coming any minute now.” Inuyasha stood up to be face to face with Kagome.
“I’m not going. I love you too much. I can’t let you go, I want you to stay with me.” Inuyasha said staring into her eyes. ”You must go. I’m sorry.” Kagome said monotone.
“Wait! At least give me a month. I really do love you, Kagome. At least give me that much time to get Kikyo to free me. Please Kagome.” Inuyasha begged her.
“Inuyasha, I’m sorry. I just can’t…” Inuyasha cut her off with a kiss. It was neither dominate nor forceful but lustful.
“Please, at least think about it.” He said as he pulled away.
“You shall know when I wake up from my dream. Remember, even when I’m sleeping, I’m always watching.” Kagome said sadly. “Good bye Inuyasha. You shall know my answer soon.”

Inuyasha suddenly saw the inside of Kagome’s bedroom of Sesshomaru’s palace. He looked over toward the bed and saw Kagome sleeping. ‘When is she going to wake up?’ he thought as Sesshomaru walked in.
“You should leave. You need time to think about what Kagome has shown you.” Inuyasha looked surprised.
“How did you know she has shown me her dreams? How did you know she possessed that power?”
