Chapter 16



Kagome walked out and went straight to the kitchen. She found Ayame making breakfast.

“Good morning, Ayame. Did you sleep well?” she asked.

“Yes, but I don’t suppose they didn’t. You know, being chained to the wall and all.” Kagome blushed.

“So, you heard huh?”

“Kagome, basically the whole palace heard the commotion.” Ayame explained.

“Wow.” Ayame set a plate down in front of Kagome. Kagome looked at the delicacy in front of her and started to eat.

“This is really good Ayame.” Kagome looked up to find Inuyasha standing next to her.

“I heard you were going to wish upon the jewel tonight.” He said without warning. Kagome looked back at her plate and started to play with the little food that was left.

“We must talk elsewhere.” She said as she got up. Inuyasha nodded. She turned to Ayame and thanked her for breakfast.

“A pleasure I a sure you.” Ayame said as she cleaned. Kagome walked out of the kitchen and headed for the garden. She looked to her side to find Inuyasha just staring a head and walking peacefully. When they reached the garden, Kagome chose a patch of grass to sit down on and carried on the conversation.

“Yes. I must get rid of this jewel. It’s driving all of the youkai, hanyou, and men crazy. I’m going to be doing all of us a favor.” Kagome stated. Inuyasha looked away.

‘What if I don’t see her again? I don’t know what I’d do.’ He thought as he realized the consequences.

“I don’t to lose you, Koi.” Inuyasha said after a long silenced moment. Kagome looked up at Inuyasha.

“I know. I do not wish to lose you either. I love you so much, Inuyasha. I want you to know something.” Kagome paused to take a deep breath. “Do you remember how we first met?”

“How could I forget? I kept calling you Kikyo and said that Kikyo was cuter.” Inuyasha said as he gave a nervous giggle.

“I want you to know that from that moment I have loved you and will always love you. Inuyasha, because I have met you first, you have stolen my heart and therefore I love you more.” Kagome said as she stood up. She looked Inuyasha square in the eye until he pulled her into his arms.

“I love you, Koi.” He said into her hair. Kagome shivered and felt nauseous. Inuyasha then pulled away to look at her.

‘I can smell her sickness.’ He thought.

“Inuyasha, I want you to know before I make the jewel disappear. I’m going to have a pup, Inuyasha. I’m going to have your pup.” Kagome told him. Inuyasha was speechless.

“You mean………I’m gonna be…….you’re gonna…..” he stuttered.

“Yes Inuyasha. You’re going to be a father.” She said through her teeth. Inuyasha now had a happy face on.

“Kagome, this is wonderful news. I’m gonna be a dad! ALRIGHT!!” he cheered and jumped with joy. Kagome straightened up to watch his excitement.

‘This is the happiest I’ve ever seen him.’ She thought. She walked towards him as he finally settled down.

“Can you carry me to my room? I’m feeling a little sick.” She asked. He scooped her up and carefully ran to her room.

‘I don’t believe it. Me, a father!” he thought happily. Inuyasha kicked the door open and set her down on her bed.

“I’m going to take a little nap.” She told him. He turned and left as he closed the door behind him. “I remember when I first found out.” She said as she remembered the moment.


Flashback


“Kagome, what are you doing here so soon?” Kagome’s mother asked.

“Don’t worry mom. I just came back to get medical supplies and to pick up something from the mall.” Kagome said with no worry. She picked up the bag and started stuffing as much supplies as possible. Kagome’s mother watched her stuff the supplies into a bigger bag than usual. She folded her arms and raised a brow.

“Kagome is there something you want to tell me? You sure are packing a lot.” She said suspiciously. Kagome took a quick glance at her mother then continued packing.

“Mom, I’m going back to the Feudal Era. I must make the jewel disappear for good.” She explained.

“But?” her mother asked.

“But there is a catch. Once I wish upon the jewel, I might not come back. The jewel will both send me back to this time and seal off the well or I get trapped in the Feudal Era and must wait 500 years to see you again.” Kagome continued. Her mother raised a hand to her mouth and gasped. “I’m sorry mother, but I need to set things right. People are counting on me.

“I know, dear, you do what you must. As long as you are doing the right thing, I will agree.”

“Arigato for understanding. I must go and get something from the mall. I will see you when I get back.” Kagome said, starting to walk out the door.

“Kagome, please stay for lunch.” Her mother pleaded.

“I promise I will.” She told her. Kagome then took off but didn’t go to the mall. Instead, she went to the local drug store. She searched the aisles until she found what she was looking for. She took the pregnancy kit to the counter and paid for it. After the clerk handed her the receipt, she headed toward the bathroom and took out the kit. After five minutes of hesitation, she finally took the test. She then carefully read the directions.

Place urine sample on tab.
Wait at least 1 minute for test results.
Must wait at least two weeks after having intercourse.
Blue=Pregnant
Red=No pregnant

Kagome waited at least another five minutes before turning over the tab. ‘Okay girl. You can do this. It’s only a test. Don’t be afraid.’ She thought. She bravely looked at the tab and gasped when she knew the answer. “Blue!” she said to herself. She put the test back into the box and walked out.


End of Flashback


Kagome laid there in bed, thinking about her new child. ‘Mama will be so happy. But will Inuyasha and I still be together after the jewel has disappeared? Oh I fell so sick.’ She thought. Kagome got up and went to the bathroom. She leaned over the sink and started to splash cold water on her face.

‘Maybe I packed some aspirin in my bag.’ She remembered. Kagome walked over to her closet to find her bag sitting on the floor. She bent down to pick it up then set it on her bed. She then started to search through the bag until she found a little bottle that rattled when you shook it. Kagome opened the bottle and took out two pills. She then closed the bottle and swallowed the pills in her hand. After she put the bag away, she started to feel dizzy so she crawled into bed and instantly fell asleep.




“Alright, I’m gonna be a dad!!!” Inuyasha yelled with joy. He saw Ayame in the kitchen and went after her. Ayame looked up to find Inuyasha jumping with joy and bouncing around the kitchen. She shook her head and continued what she was doing.

“Ayame, this is wonderful! I’m gonna be a father!” Inuyasha said as he hugged her. Ayame shot her head up and quickly slapped him in the face.

“How could you do such a thing? You are mated to Kagome! Why would you go off and have pups with some other whore?” she yelled. Inuyasha looked shell shocked, but snapped back to his senses.

“I didn’t mean it like that, stupid!!! Kagome is having my pups!!!” Inuyasha explained rather harshly. He watched Ayame cover her mouth with her hand. The next thing he knew was being hugged by her.

“Oh Inuyasha!! Congratulations!!” she said, but she quickly let go. “I mean, congratulations my lord. I am pleased to see that you are happy.” She quickly corrected herself, and then went back to work. Inuyasha laughed then shook his head. His nose suddenly wrinkled up as he smelled a demon lord’s scent fade away.

‘Oh no, Sesshomaru. I hope he is happy for me.’ He thought as he followed the scent. Sesshomaru’s scent lead him to the garden where he found him sitting there on the grass.

“So, you’re the father. Kagome is having your pups?” Sesshomaru asked.

“Yes. I just found out today.” Inuyasha explained.

“I am happy for you. Congratulations little brother. I must go. I need to see someone in the village about something.” He said as he stood and walked out the palace door. Inuyasha took a deep breath then slowly let it out. He looked towards the sky and saw that the sun was about to set.

‘Dusk already. The day has gone by so quickly. I must get Kagome ready.’ He thought as he headed toward her room. When he opened the door, he found Kagome dressed and ready. She turned around and nodded Kagome walked out of the room and to the front of the palace.

“I had Kagura and Ayame set up barriers around the entire palace. You and the jewel should be safe.” He assured her. Kagome looked at him with a smile that quickly faded.

“Inuyasha, I thought you wanted to use the jewel to become full youkai. How come you haven’t taken the jewel away from me like you did with Kikyo?” she asked. He sighed as he began.

“I love you. That’s why. You are my mate and I would never betray you. Kikyo wasn’t mine to claim, therefore, I wasn’t completely devoted to her. As for becoming youkai, I think I’ll stay a hanyou just form you.” He explained.

Kagome smiled and said, “I’m glad that you are.” She settled down and then held the jewel in between her hands. Her hands began shaking as the jewel grew brighter. A barrier appeared around Kagome and was filled with a white light. The light was so bright that Inuyasha couldn’t see Kagome anymore. Kagome looked around her and saw nothing but white everywhere. She looked in front of her and saw a miko in her miko robes walking towards her.

“Hello Kagome. My name is Midoriko. You have now brought peace to the land of Japan. The evil in the jewel has been vanquished and now I may rest. Because of your bravery in finding the jewel shards, vanquishing Naraku, and been on many dangerous adventures bring peace to Japan; I will give you a choice for one of your mates to go with you to your world. If you cannot choose, then I will choose for you. Be warned that I will choose the one who can provide food and protect you the most.” Midoriko said to her. Kagome nodded.

‘How can I choose? I can’t! I just can’t!’ she thought. “Your welcome, Priestess Midoriko. Arigato for the choice but I am afraid I can not choose.” Kagome said sadly.

“It is done. I have chosen. You know already of whom I speak of, Kagome. Goodbye Kagome and good luck.” Midoriko said as she faded. Kagome watched the jewel disappear in her hands. She then felt so dizzy that she dropped to the floor and fainted.
