Chapter 17
Kagome woke up in her bed as the sun peered into her window. When she moved, she felt a hand curled around her stomach. She flipped over to her side to find a silver haired hanyou sleeping. She took her hand and petted Inuyasha, then stroked his hair. She then placed her hand on his forehead and was immediately in his dream. Kagome was by a tree that had a little clearing beyond it.
‘I know this place.’ She thought as she saw Goshinokbu. She saw Kikyo and Inuyasha together then saw herself in her old school uniform. ‘Oh, I definitely remember this place.’ A soul gatherer flew past Kagome that twisted itself around Kikyo and flew away. She saw herself come out from behind the tree and stare at Inuyasha. He never blinked nor looked back, he just came forward and tried to hug Kagome but she ran away. Kagome watched herself run away then decided to get back to reality.
‘He was remembering all of the bad times that have happened with me and him. I guess he regrets them all. Oh, he looks so beautiful when he’s sleeping.’ She smiled at the sleeping hanyou when finally he woke up.
He looked at her for a moment, then said, “Kagome, why am I in your time?”
“The great Priestess Midoriko gave me a choice between you or Sesshomaru to take with me. I couldn’t decide so she told me that she would choose for me. I’m guessing that she chose you.” Kagome explained.
“Now my worries are over. At least I can watch my son or daughter grow and be with you when it happens.” He told her.
“What about Sesshomaru? He would be so sad and depressed. All of the cold heartedness will come back to him.” Kagome worried.
“It’s alright. If he survived the past 500 years, then surely he is somewhere around here.” Inuyasha assured her. Kagome nodded then got up and went down stairs. She saw her mother cleaning the dishes with Souta and her grandpa. Still in her hanyou form, she went straight to them and hugged them and her mom. Kagome heard her grandpa yell and turned to him to greet him.
“Stay away evil demon! I’m warning you!”
“Don’t worry grandpa. It’s me, Kagome. I transformed into a hanyou. Didn’t mom and Souta tell you?” she heard her mom cough and Souta whistling innocently. She shook her head and turned back to her grandpa.
“Kagome? Is it really you? This is impossible!” he said. Kagome took a step back to see everyone, and then broke the news about her pregnancy.
“Everyone, I have very important news to tell you. I’m going to have a pup soon. Isn’t it great? Inuyasha is the father. He is really excited about the whole thing.” They all stared at her in shock as Inuyasha came up from behind her.
“Just a wild guess but, you told them, didn’t you?” he said calmly.
“Yeah, they’re taking it way better than I thought they would.” Kagome explained. Inuyasha wrapped an arm around Kagome and lead her back upstairs.
“Did she say what I think she just said?” Kagome’s mother asked.
“I think so, Okaa.” Souta replied.
Inuyasha sat down on Kagome’s bed while Kagome sat in her desk chair. “Inuyasha, can we have a real wedding?” Kagome finally asked. Inuyasha turned his head to the side in confusion.
“What’s a ‘wed-ding’?” he asked.
“It’s where two people say vows and give each other rings to symbolize marriage. Vows are things you say, like, your confessions of love to one another.” She explained. Inuyasha thought for a moment.
“Hmm. I don’t see anything wrong with that. It sounds kind of like mating, only a little too formal. Kagome as long as we are not ‘broadcasted’, as you say, to the entire land of Japan.” He finally said.
“I promise.” She agreed. “I’ll give us two months for planning our wedding. That should be enough time to have everything ready.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes then laughed. Kagome went over to him and sat in his lap.
“Ya know Kagome, you’re already starting to get heavy.” He teased.
“Why you little….” She started to say but Inuyasha flipped her on her back and started tickling her. “Inuyasha……stop it…..” she said between laughs. “Please……stop……” He finally stopped tickling her and fell next to her. Kagome settled down as she laid there on her back, staring at the ceiling.
“Inuyasha?”
“Hmmm?”
“What do you think Sesshomaru is doing right now?” she asked.
“I don’t know. I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose you.” He stated. Kagome snuggled up next to Inuyasha, her chest against his, his chin on top of her hair. They soon fell asleep like that, looking as peaceful as ever.
Sesshomaru was walking back from a nearby village until he stopped. He saw a bright light coming from the front of the palace then fade from sight. “Good bye Kagome.” He whispered. He then rushed to the palace and came to the gate. When he got to where the source of the light used to be, he sniffed the air.
“Inuyasha was here with Kagome. His scent just cuts off.” He said. Sesshomaru walked in the palace and saw Ayame hugging her legs on the ground. “Ayame, what has happened here?” he asked. She looked up at him with a straight face.
“My lord, Kagome wished upon the Shikon no Tama. The jewel disappeared but then a priestess came to Kagome and thanked her for bringing peace to Japan. Kagome and Inuyasha went back to Kagome’s world. They’re gone, my lord.” Sesshomaru nodded his head then walked to his room. He sighed as he still smelled Kagome’s scent. He walked over to his bed and sat down. Something caught his eye over on his end table. As he walked over to pick it up, he knew that it was a letter. The front side read:

To: My Darling Sesshomaru
This is what it said as he opened the envelope and read the letter:
My darling Sesshomaru,
If you are reading my letter, then I am no longer with you. Inuyasha has come with me. Priestess Midoriko came to me in my dreams and said that if I couldn’t choose between you and Inuyasha, she would pick Inuyasha for me. Sesshomaru, I know why she has chosen him. I’m having Inuyasha’s pups. Please do not be angry with him. It was an accident. It happened the day I transformed. I have been having suspicions ever since then. I will try and find you in the future, please find me. I miss you so much. Know that I love you no matter what happens. If you decide to look for me, I live at the Sunset Shrine in Tokyo. Hopefully we will see each other in the future.

Kagome, Priestess of the Sunset Shrine
Sesshomaru let the letter fall out of his hands as he brought his head in his hands and closed his eyes. “I promise I will find you.” He said aloud.
