Inuyasha turned the key and walked into the apartment to find Kagome sitting at the dinner table wearing casual cloths and reading a book. "Whatcha readin'?" Inuyasha asked as he walked over to a wall and pressed his hand against it. Suddenly, the wall opened up to reveal a large assortment of weapons. He then began to remove the weapons he was wearing and placed them into their places.
"I'm reading a book on cat care," Kagome said, showing him the cover.
Inuyasha pressed another invisible button on the wall and it closed up. He walked over to the table and sat down. "So, you never did tell me why you were crying earlier."
"I had to say goodbye to Sango, Miroku and everyone else." Kagome looked over to Inuyasha and he was able to see small tears building at her eyes again.
Inuyasha moved closer to her and pulled her into a hug. "Kagome, you can always go back. Whenever you want," he whispered softly in her ear.
"No, I can't," she hiccuped.
"Why not?" he asked rubbing her back, trying to calm her.
"I'm getting a job so that I can take care of the pup."
Inuyasha moved back and grabbed her gently by the shoulders, looking into her eyes. "You don't need to, Kagome. I could-"
"No. Inuyasha there'll always be something on the streets. I want you to stay with the Nightstalkers."
Inuyasha sighed and decided that it was pointless arguing. "Fine." Kagome relaxed a bit, knowing he approved her getting a job. "What are you going to do?"
She smiled slightly. "I'm joining the police force."
"WHAT?!"
