Chapter 6

Inuyasha stood stock still trying to find a way out of the mess he was when. The Shikans around him began to close in on him again. Shikani was still shrieking in fear.

Inuyasha leaped away from the ground and landed near Zoonuts. He lifted the Shikan king up in the air by his throat. He turned his head away from the king's eyes.

"Anybody move, and your king gets it," Inuyasha yelled. The Shikans stopped and stared at Inuyasha.

"What will you do with him!" a Shikan yelled.

"What does it look like I'll do with him! Do what I say or your king's crown is going to fall."

A few Shikans nodded slightly. Their eyes were filled of anger and dread. Shikani stared at Inuyasha from behind.

"Okay Shikani, start guiding," Inuyasha said in a low voice. King Zoonuts struggled against Inuyasha's grip, but couldn't break free.

Shikani began to slowly walk through the forest without uttering a sound. The Shikans followed them. They slowly tramped through the forest. The moon was blocked out b the tall trees.

When they reached the end of the forest, Inuyasha stopped. He sat the King down, grabbed Shikani and ran out of the forest.

The stopped a short distance from the forest and sat in the grass.

"The Shikans won't leave the forest. This is the first time I have, "Shikani said.

"You talked normally!" Inuyasha said in surprise.

"I was so scared all the time earlier, I could never speak right. Now I feel safe and my tongue is not tied."

The sun was in the east and the sky was a faint pink. Inuyasha closed his eyes for a minute and then opened them again. Shikani was glowing! A faint gold glow engulfed him.

"Shikani, what's happening to you?!"

A blinding flash of light burst from Shikani forcing Inuyasha to close his eyes tightly shut.

The light died away and Inuyasha opened his eyes. Shikani wasn't there. A little boy stood in his place.

He was tan skinned and had golden blonde hair. His deep blue eyes sparkled in the early morning sun.

"Shikani?"

"I have returned to normal! The curse has been broken!" I'm not a Shikan anymore! Oh, thankyou Inuyasha, thankyou!" Shikani screeched.

"What happened to you?" Inuyasha said deep in confusion.

Shikani's Story

When I was younger my father sent me off on a mission to train and become a more powerful fox demon. My little brother Shippou had just been born.

I went off and met up with an ugly man named Koyaki. He had a cage full of foxes and was killing them one by one. I couldn't stand it so I attacked using Fox Fire. It had a small affect on him.

He then chanted something about gods and I was trapped in a Shikan body. He took me to the forest of Shikans a couple years ago. If I told of my past I would've been killed.

The other Shikans would not let me leave the forest, but now I have and changed back to normal!

End of story

"Well, you told that story quickly," Inuyasha said.

"Did you say you Shippou was your younger brother? You also said you were a fox demon right?" Inuyasha inquired.

"Yeah," Shikani answered, "oh and my real name is Shippau."

"Okay Shippau, I think I might just know your little brother. He is a young fox demon named Shippou. He has brown hair."

"That's my brother!!"

"The only thing is, his father was killed by the thunder brothers."

Shippau's smiled vanished quickly. His eyes watered, but he lifted his sleeve and wiped them away. A lump was forming in his throat and he held back tears.

"I waited years to see my family. Especially my Father, and now once I regain my freedom, I find out he has passed on without my goodbye, Shippau said full of anger and sadness, "I must kill the Thunder Brothers."

"I have already destroyed them with the help of your younger brother Shippou."

"Oh yes, sweet Shippou. How is my younger brother, just a new born when I last saw him."

"He is fine. He has been accompanying me on my journey."

"Where is he now?"

"When my friend Kagome was kidnapped, I left him with my close friends Sango and Miroku."

"I must repay you for killing the Thunder Brothers. I will come along with you on your quest for Kagome to repay you. Then, you could take me to my brother Shippou."

"All righ…" Inuyasha was interrupted by a deep yawn protruding from his mouth.

"We are safe here, I hope you wouldn't mind if we made camp."

Inuyasha, ignoring the growls from his stomach, went to a nearby stream to fetch water.

The stream was clear and cool. Inuyasha cupped his hands and filled them with water for a drink. He grabbed a basket Shippau had given him and filled it with water. He walked back to camp.

Shippau sitting near a fire cooking a fish greeted Inuyasha. It smelled delicious and Inuyasha's mouth watered.

"Where did you get the fish?" Inuyasha said putting down the basket of water.

"I caught it in the forest earlier. I preserved it with berries, wrapped it in a cloth, and I have been carrying it since."

They both sat together and talked while they ate the wonderful salmon. That night Inuyasha enjoyed a full nights sleep, which he hadn't had for a while.
