InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ InuYasha: Into the Shadows ❯ Epilogue ( Epilogue )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Cupping her hands, Kagome splashed a handful of water onto her face before leaning back to settle down in the soothing, warm waters of the bathtub. Closing her eyes, she rested her head on the edge of the tub. The past twenty-four hours had been wild for the young woman. Chased by a mantis-woman, kidnapped by street thugs, battling a possessed troll…
She gave a prolonged sigh, that was only half of it too.
Opening her eyes, she turned her head to the side. Sitting on the edge of the bathtub was a miniature bottle. Inside it was a single jewel shard, a piece of the Shikon no Tama. In the fight against the troll, she had inadvertently shattered the mystical orb, sending hundreds of its pieces flying across the Tokyo skyline. Some guardian she was turning out to be.
The dog-eared InuYasha didn’t take the jewel’s destruction too well, only calming down slightly when she agreed to track down the pieces of the relic. Why did this have to happen to her, why was it her life that had to be turned upside-down?
Taking a deep breath, she sunk down beneath the warm bathwater letting her thoughts wander to more normal things. School…her friends…the scavenger hunt…
She lurched forward, bringing her head up and sending a shower of water across the bathroom.
“I forgot the flower!” she exclaimed with a groan.
I am also a fan of the Shadowrun RPG and an occasional writer of fan-fiction for various games. I grew frustrated at the lack of places for me to post Shadowrun fan-fiction and I jokingly made the comment that I should combine it with InuYasha, then I’d have a million places to post.
Well, that joking comment festered in my feverish little brain and I just couldn’t quit thinking about how it could be done. This story is the result. I wanted it to parallel the opening of the series, to set the stage for other fan-fic ideas I have using InuYasha and the gang in the Shadowrun universe. Hopefully I succeeded in telling an enjoyable tale in the process.

Author’s Note: I’m what I like to call an incidental fan of InuYasha. Just what do I mean by that? Well, my wife is a fan of the series and by fan I really mean, rabidly obsessed. Because of that, I incidentally became a fan due to the “all things InuYasha” bombardment she has subjected me and the kids to.I am also a fan of the Shadowrun RPG and an occasional writer of fan-fiction for various games.
