Inuyasha wasn't going to catch up with Kagome, Kouga, and Shippou soon, but he would eventually get closer as they stopped. In the meantime, Inuyasha was growing weaker. Huffing and puffing as he ran. As unused to running like a human as he was, he just couldn't give up. Not too soon after, Inuyasha noticed that his vision was getting blurry. He kept running, ignoring the pain in his side, the ache in his heart, and the mental anguish he was going through. Inuyasha was running faster and faster, but he soon realized that this wasn't good, because he was so weak. He tripped over a rock, and he fell hard. He tried to get back up, but he passed out, next to Kagome's bow, that he hadn't noticed was next to him.
Kagome was snuggled in Kouga's arms, when she felt it. Her bow. It was missing, the quiver wasn't banging against anything. "Kouga, stop!" Kagome said. Obeying her, Kouga slowed to a stop. "What is it, Kagome?" he asked? "My bow... It's gone. It must've been bumped too hard and fallen while we were running. Can we please go back track for it? I can't lose it, it's my only form of defense...." Kagome pleaded. Kouga sighed. "Oh, alright. But just this once..." he said, turning around. "Thanks so much, Kouga!" Kagome hugged him tighter, and kissed him on the cheek. This made him blush, and he started running to hide this.
Shippou was trapped in Kagome's bag, but he still heard everything. He felt Kouga turn around too. // Crap! What if he sees my mushrooms while they're looking for Kagome's bow?! I'm doomed.... // Shippou thought. Luckily for him, the mushrooms were unnoticeable, but still there if you were looking for them. Kagome and Kouga said nothing about them, but were drawing up close on Inuyasha. They ran for a few minutes longer, before they saw him fallen in the clearing.
"Hey, isn't that Inuyasha?" Kouga asked. Kagome looked up, and noticed that it was, and that he was right next to her bow. She nodded. Tears in her eyes, Kouga went over to the stream to get a drink, and Kagome whipped out a strengthening potion she'd made a while ago. She put a sticker on it, and stuck it in Inuyasha's hand. When he would wake up, he would take it. She hoped he was better, but she only had a certain amount of pity for the emotionless hanyou. All he wanted from her was the jewel shards, right? // Oh, I'd better not let Kouga see me doing this... // she kissed him quickly on the cheek. Kouga returned as Kagome finished securing her bow to her back. Kouga picked her up again, and they continued on their way. Shippou sent out mushrooms again, a few minutes into the run, just incase he accidentally misjudged the amount of time it took to double back.
Back in the clearing, Inuyasha stirred, and woke. He found the bottle Kagome had left. * It's a STRENGTHENING POTION. IT WILL HELP YOU!!! With love, Kagome * the sticker read. Inuyasha blushed, and drank it. He felt his energy come back, and started back off after Kagome following Shippou's trail of mushrooms. He just hoped that he wouldn't be too late. He started gaining on them, the potion now reaching it's height. // With love...... // he thought.
