When Isa Returned
(I do not own ANY OF THE INUYASHA CHARACTERS!!!!!! But I do own Isa and Kayko and Shaka.)
Her hair whipped in the breeze as Kagome pulled herself up out of the well. She sat on the edge and took in a breath of the fresh air. Back in her time, the air was nowhere near as crisp as it was here. A small smile came to her thin lips as she stood up and put her bag over her shoulder. Her cerulean blue eyes caught sight of the God Tree. The memories of her first meeting with Inuyasha played in her mind. He looked so peaceful, so happy to be stuck to the tree.
She stood in front of the tree smiling. It all happened here, and it changed her life forever. She gave a happy sigh and she started walking towards the little village that resided near the God Tree. She walked down the little road towards Keade's hut. She smiled as she saw her friends walking around the village. She stopped in mid-step as she watched Miroku flirting with another girl, again. She forced her hand to stay at her side, so that it wouldn't cover her eyes in shame for the man. She walked into the hut ignoring the “NO PLEASE SANGO!!” screams.
Keade looked up for the stew she was making and smiled at the young girl. “Welcome back Kagome. You have fun in your era?” The old woman asked sincerely.
“It was ok. My brother was being a baby again before I left and Inuyasha is currently over there, face down in the dirt. Stupid Baka. I go there to relax and get away from his annoying rules and he has to follow me. It's like the man has no life.” Kagome ranted to the old woman.
Keade smiled and continued to stir the pot of stew. She was use to hearing Kagome venting about how annoying Inuyasha was. She looked up at Kagome when she stopped ranting and lifted an old eyebrow. Kagome had gone ridged, her face showing confusion.
“I can sense a shard, but why is it so close to the village?” She got up and walked out of the hut.
She walked over to her friends and placed a hand on Sango's shoulder. The young demon slayer stopped in mid swing of her Hiraikotsu. Miroku was laying on the ground unconscious.
“I don't know why, but I sense a shard close to the village.” She turned and looked out towards the forest.
Inuyasha came into her view, pissed. His face changed as he saw confusion on Kagome's face. He ran down towards her, still quiet mad.
“Girl! How many times have to told you to stop sitting me!!” Kagome ignored him and pointed to an area of the forest.
“There, that's where I sense it.” Inuyasha's eyebrow perked up before he put Kagome on his back and ran towards where she had pointed. Miroku had woken up by the time, only to be knocked down by a transforming Kirara.
Sango smiled and jumped up on Kirara back. Miroku soon climbed up behind her.
“What's going on? “He asked, having been knocked out when Kagome said what had sensed.
“Kagome sensed a shard not far away from the village. We are going after it now. Maybe if you didn't flirt with every woman you see, you wouldn't get beaten up for it and left out of conversations.” She said sarcastically.
Miroku rubbed the back of his neck as he looked around. He looked back ahead before taking a double take at an area that he had just looked at. He could have sworn to Buddha that there was a woman right there running along side them.
He looked forward again, ignoring the thought. `Maybe Sango just hit me to many times upside the head and now I'm seeing things. Beautiful things.' A little orange ball blocked his view and he sighed.
Shippo was currently holding on to Sango's shoulder talking to her, trying to figure out what was going on. She smiled and scruffed up his hair as he tried to calm her down on the whole Miroku thing, seeing how Miroku was off in his own universe at the moment.
Inuyasha stopped in a dense part of the forest, his nose sniffing the air. His eyes narrowed as the moved from side to side looking around. He jumped up into a tree as a large ogre demon slammed his fist into the ground.
“In his stomach! That's where the Jewel Shard is! He swallowed it!!!” Inuyasha nodded and set her down on a tree branch and dove down at the demon, only to be tackle back one of the demons followers. Inuyasha cursed under his breath as he kicked the demon off sending him into a tree.
Inuyasha jumped to his feet as he watched the new sent of demons walking up, surrounding their leader. “Hiraikotsu!” filled the quiet air as a swooshing sound came and cleared 5 or more demons in front of Inuyasha.
Sango jumped off Kirara's back and caught the boomerang as it flew back to her. Miroku had jumped off next to her holding on to the beads that wrapped his hand.
“Inuyasha, you deal with the demon that had the Shard, Sango and I'll deal with the others.” Miroku yelled. `Feh' being his reply.
Miroku opened his wind tunnel at the demons infront of him. The sound of the rushing wind whipped the trees and cloths that stood near by. Inuyasha pulled out Tetsusaiga. As an unknown person sat in a tree, hidden by the shadows as she watched the fight below. Her eyebrow lifted at the sight of the sword.
`When did he get that?' the unknown specter thought as she watched Inuyasha fighting the demon. She put a hand over her eyes at the many times he kept being thrown back into a tree, only to jump out of the rubble like he let that happen. She gave an annoyed growl at the 6th time he got thrown into a tree, this time, the tree fell on him.
She looked at the demon and glared. He had a jewel; she could sense it, Black like the demons heart. She jumped out of the tree and landed gracefully on the ground infront of the demon. Inuyasha pulled himself from the rubble and glared at the new addition to the fight. He's eyes softened as his mouth dropped.
`It can't be' He thought. `She was sapouse to be dead, Keade said she was!!' he yelled in his head.
The specter raised her hand. “Valentine! Show your magic!” A long sword appeared in her hand as a mischievous smirk crossed her beautiful pale face. Her lips parted and whispered “Kakuhan-ibara.” (Thorn whip)
In her hand, the sword changed, and instead of having the sharp point all sword hand, it had turned into a rose vine, covered with sharp thorns. Her crystal blue eyes sparked as the demon looked at her with a newfound fear he had never felt.
He began to back up, involuntarily. With a flick of her wrist the vine appeared on the other side of the demon, blood dripping from the tips of its thorns. The demon fell to his knees as he stared at his stomach where the vine had halted. Kagome sat in the tree stunned with fear. The woman had come out of nowhere and put a sharp studded vine right through the gut of the demon. Her eyes looked at the very tip of the vine, where the jewel now was held.
The vine wrapped itself around the shard so that it wouldn't drop as the woman pulled back her whip, shredding the inside of the demon with its sharp thorns. A pained grunt came from the demon as it fell to the ground. Miroku and Sango stared with shocked eyes. Sango had held Shippo's face into her chest, in a protective way, to block the sight of the bloody murder. Inuyasha slowly stood up as he stared at the demon, dead on the ground, blood dripping from its wound and flowing out of its open mouth.
The young woman's whip retracted into the hilt before turning back into a sword, covered in blood. In-between her index finger and her thumb she held the shard with blood still dripping from it. Her already crystal eyes lightened slightly as the black shard went pink. Kagome, Sango and Miroku's mouths dropped. They all could tell from the way she looked she was clearly demon. The sword was obviously a demon sword, yet she purified the shard.
Inuyasha wasn't so shocked. He stared at the woman before him, in shock that she was there. He mentally hit himself as he forced himself back to reality.
“Alright Isa, you've had your fun, give us the shard back.” He said with as much dignity as he could muster.
The woman he called Isa smiled slightly and looked at him. “I don't think I will. I won it fair and square. Its mine.”
Inuyasha's eyes narrowed as he walked towards her. “..But we where her first, fighting the demon first. It's ours, give it to us!”
The young woman glared at him and he's ears lowered to his head. He mentally hit himself again as her remembered that Isa had a temper equal to his. She walked towards him as she slipped the shard into a sack hanging on her hip.
“I don't care if you were here first! I won it fair and square and besides I know what you want form the jewel when its restored, and I refuse to let you do that!!”
Inuyasha glared back her their noses inches from each other. “You don't know anything woman! You only know what you can read in my mind! How do you know I'm not thinking that to his the real purpose as to why I want the jewel! And besides, you don't know anything of me anymore. You left me on that tree for 50 years! So don't say you know me!”
As the two bickered over things that happened 50 years ago, Kagome climbed down from the tree and made her way towards Sango and Miroku.
“Do you know what's going on?” She looked at them and they shook their heads. They were just as in the dark as she was. They all looked at the two nose-to-nose yelling at each other. Then Inuyasha stopped. Something was missing from this argument. He looked at Isa confused and looked around.
When ever Isa and Inuyasha argued in the past, Kayko was always there to break them up, calm them down and they'd walk away happy from the situation. Isa sighed as she just realized why he had stopped.
“She's gone Inuyasha. She's been missing for a little over 40 years. I've looked and looked. I actually came here to talk to Keade and ask her if she's seen her.” Isa said as Inuyasha went ridged.
How could she just disappear? His baby sister, gone? He sniffed the air, hoping Isa was just playing some cruel trick on him. He turned towards her and she shook her head.
“Ok then, if you don't know where she is, who does? When was the last time you saw her?!” Isa's eye twitched at Inuyasha raising his voice to her.
Isa stubbornly turned her back to him. “When you calm yourself I'll answer your questions, but until you do, I'll be at Keade's” She began walking off, the sword she held slowly turning to dust as a breeze blew through. Inuyasha watched her retreating form. They were exactly where they were when he was stuck to the tree. Hating each other. Kagome came up and put a hand on his shoulder.
“Inuyasha, who was that?” She was greatly confused. She'd been there for over 4 months, and she thought she knew almost everyone from his past. She knew his brother. She knew he was in love with Kikyo, or at least she thought he was. Inuyasha sighed and scratched the back of his head.
“She's… its hard to explain. Let get back to Keade's.” He began walking off. Kagome stared at him walking off. `He's doing it again. Shutting me out.'
Isa made her way down to the village. Her eyes scanned the village. Much had changed. More huts had been built. She looked at one hut she did recognize as some one walking out. Keade looked up at the hill and smiled. One of her childhood idols stood there, her hair flowing in the wind.
“Lady Isa? Is that really you?” Isa smiled and ran down the hill and hugged the old woman.
“Oh Keade, it truly has been to long. How have you been?”
“Worried about you. A young girl named Kagome freed Inuyasha from the tree and, Kikyo was brought back. I've been worried you'd have to see her again.” Keade looked at her childhood friend as the woman's face hardened.
“When was she brought back?” Isa eye twitched for a 2nd time that day.
Keade sighed and motioned to her hut. “It's a lot to talk about. Come inside.” She slowly walked towards her hut, age not being friendly on her.
Isa followed and sat down near the fire pit as Keade caught her up on what she had missed staying with Sesshoumaru in the west.
Inuyasha walked back into the village heading straight for Keade's hut. He pushed aside the little door hanging as he walked in. He saw Isa and Keade deep in conversation before they turned and looked at him. Keade sighed and shook her head, a headache forming in the old woman's head. Isa eyes twitched again and she snapped.
“AHH Look what you have me doing!!! I have had any problem with my eye twitching like this is YEARS!! It didn't start till I met up with you again!! GRAH!!” Isa put her hands over her eyes and fell backwards, trying to calm her nerves
Kagome jumped slightly when she walked in and the woman from earlier started yelling. Miroku and Sango poked their heads in and lifted an eyebrow wondering what the hell was going on. Inuyasha just lifted and eyebrow as he put his hands in his sleeves across his chest. Isa lay there on the floor staring up at the ceiling and sighed.
“Well, Keade, I'm not telling the story. Inuyasha would just get confused if I say it.” Keade sighed and began talking. Telling everyone the True Story of the Jewel. Kagome's mouth dropped as she looked at Inuyasha and Isa. Their backs were turned towards each other. They didn't seem to be paying attention to the story only trying to ignore each other. Miroku looked at Sango as she sat there, petting Kirara, listening to the story. She was very intrigued with the story.
Keade told of how her sister betrayed everyone. Almost breaking up a strong friend ship. Isa slightly slumped at the thought of her friend.
Sango looked at Keade confused. “I understand what happened, but who is this Kayko lady your talking about?”
Keade looked at Inuyasha and he waved his hand. She looked at Isa and she waved her hand too. Neither felt up to talking about her, to hard of a subject. Keade rubbed her head.
“Kayko is Inuyasha's baby sister.” Everyone looked at her weird then looked at Inuyasha. Kagome sat back, holding Shippo close. How much more stuff did she not know about Inuyasha? She looked over at him and sighed.
