InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Inuyasha ❯ Chapter 1

Shades of pink light, limbs become numb. The surrounding sounds swallowed by the vast void of light...
-The feeling is always the same-, Kagome thought as she jumped into the well that would lead her to Sengoku Jidai. She could almost hear the usual greeting that awaited her in a few moments on the other side of the well.
" Keh. Took you long enough. " Would be the hanyou's response once she cleared the well. And Kagome would "sit" him just as the small kistune would barrel into her, clinging to her midsection.
A small chuckle left her lips once her feet touched the floor of the well. Dark orbs would look up to see the clear blue skies of Sengoku Jidai, rather then the shrine roof. Tossing her yellow sack out of the well, Kagome began her climb out of the well.
Inuyasha had been sitting in a branch, broding as usual, waiting for her ebony locks to peek out from the lip of the well. Amber orbs saw the pink light appear followed by the soft thump of her pack landing on the grass.
He lept off the branch and landed without a sound beside the well.
Staring down at her, he smiled just slightly. - She made it safely.-
"Keh. Took you long enough" , he grumbled to her, though no gruffness was in his voice. This was their usual greeting and he rather enjoyed seeing her cheeks flame in anger, and her eyes narrow.
Kagome had just brought her other leg out of the well before straightening and looking at him with a cool glance.
He could see the smile hidden in her eyes and it made his stomach jump.
"Inuyasha.......osuwari" A moment later, the said hanyou was face down in the ground, all he could see was her shoe cladded feet pass him, the sound of her bag rustling as she hitched it onto her shoulder and the shriek of a happy kistune.
Shippou, Miroku and Sango had seen the encounter and snickered as usual.
Waiting until Inuyasha was safely on the ground, Shippou dashed off and barrelled into Kagome's midsection.
" Kagome! Welcome back! " He squealed in delight. Whenever kagome came back from 'her time' she always brought him back goodies to eat and crayons.
Kagome smiled softly as she rustled his locks, and hugged him tightly before looking up to meet her other friends.
As it appeared, Miroku beared another red hand print on his cheek that looked much like Sango's hand.
She shook her head, - he will never learn-
"Sango, Miroku!"- she called and waved to them as they headed over.
Inuyasha grumbled softly from the ground and finally got up. Apparently the rosary's spell wore off.
Without another thought, he took the yellow pack off Kagome's shoulder and headed off in the direction of the village in which Kaede lived.
Kaede was the village miko, and the younger sister of the dead priestess Kikyou.
Kikyou.....how that very word haunted Kagome's every other thought these last few years.
Kikyou was Inuyasha's first love....and her reincarnation.
Pushing such thoughts away, Kagome followed behind Inuyasha while they headed to the village, her friends in tow, and Shippou perched on her shoulder.
- It's good to be back.....- Was Kagome's silent thought.
- What is this feeling I have? Did I miss her.....she was only gone a week. Damn...it felt like a lifetime. Well at least she will be here for a while before her 'tests' come back up. Now we can concentrate on defeating Naraku...and finishing the jewel.- Was Inuyasha's conversation with himself while he looked over to Kagome.
His heart felt a little lighter when she was around. And though he wouldn't admit it aloud, he grew rather fond of her as the years went by. He knew her scent better then anyone, the way her eyes lit up when she got angry with him. Or how her mouth curved just so when she smiled. Only he knew how her stomach would rise and fall when she slept. Or how utterly breathtaking she was when a thought crossed her mind. -Oh no...she has that look again...She's thinking about Kikyou.- The hanyou sighed, which earned a look from the young miko who consumed much of his thoughts.
He gave her a small smile, and in turn she flashed him a grin, which he knew was forced. - Damn, she was thinking of Kikyou. Kagome....don't you see how much you mean to me? Once this who hunt is over, I'm going to show you....I promise-
