Chapter 8

Kagome's heart broke....
A gasp and a few curses were heard coming from the monk and demon slayer. "Bastard...even in death he
chooses her!" Miroku had to hold Sango back from tearing him apart.-How could he do this to Kagome...again!-
Tears fell freely from Kagome's eyes. She could not believe what she was seeing. How much of a fool did he
and Kikyou plan on making her out to be? No....she was not going to stand for it anymore. Her job here was
done. The jewel was nearly complete. Only three shards left. Kogua will give them over freely once he knows
that 'dog-shit' was out of the way. And Sango's brother had one.....well he would have to give it up. No
matter what.
With that notion in her head she rose to her feet, small fists balled at her sides. Her bangs fell forward
to hide the tears that threatened to fall.
"You win Kikyou...."
Kikyou glared at her with nothing but hate and eviliness. Could none see that Inuyasha was under some kind
of spell from the dead priestess?
-Kagome!!! No!! I'm here....Not leave.....Oh Kami....KAGOME!!!!- But she could not hear the anguish his
soul. He watched with glazed eyes as his love turned her back on him and began to walk back towards Kaede's hut.
Kikyou smirked and touched Inuyasha's cheeks, only to find a stream of unchecked tears.
" Inuyasha....I can not bring you with me if you do not fully forget her!" Narrows dark hues at him. Trying
with all her might to control his beating heart. But what she found there shocked her. His heart no longer
sang for her. It's song only rang out Kagome's name. Kikyou sighed in defeat. She knew that even in death he
would only long after her damned reincarnation.
She waved a hand in front of Inuyasha and he quickly snapped out of his trance. Standing there a moment blinking
and trying to come to terms of the latest events, Kikyou nodded to him.
" Go....before I change my mind..."
The hanyou didn't need a second push before he was off chasing after his real love. Without a look behind him
he ran as fast as he could. His feet barely touched the ground. After a moment or two he caught sight of her back.
Again tears rolled down his cheeks unchecked.
" Kagome!!!"
Kikyou smiled softly, she was actually happy of her choice. She closed her eyes and waited for the earth to swallow
her up and take her to hell's gate. But the longer she stood there....the ground wouldn't open.
Kikyou's eyes opened and looked around. She was still on Earth...Why? Her job on Earth was done....Suddenly she felt
a strange warm glow. Those dark eyes looked towards the sky as Heaven was revealed to her.
This wasn't happening! Heaven was allowing her entrance?! All she had to do was let the hanyou go?
A soft sigh escaped her as a wave of love and peace washed over her soul. Small bits of light came down
and gathered around the priestess.She had a look of pure happiness as it lifted her off the ground and into the sky.
Kikyou had found peace.
And only the bleeding monk and beat up demon slayer were witnesses of her final passing.

" Kagome!!!!!" Inuyasha raced to her, and as she turned to acknowledge him, Kagome barely had a moment to blink
before his arms came around her tightly. He picked her up off the ground and crushed her to him.
" Damnit woman....didn't you hear me?!"
Kagome didn't know how to respond. She wanted to kick him and scream to release her, but she could only bury her face
into his chest as he held her close. She said nothing, not believing he was here to remain. She figured they wanted
one last laugh before going off to hell together. But she couldn't allow herself to hate Inuyasha. It didn't matter to
her what happened now....She just wanted to feel him once more...Touch him once more.....
A sudden brush of fierce wind and Inuyasha was holding even tighter on one screaming Kagome.
He looked down to her fearing for her life. "Kagome!!"
Bolts of bright white/pink light was soaring into Kagome's body.
The rest of her soul......
Kikyou finally let him go....
And the soul returned to its rightful owner.
A moment later it ended, and she crumbled against him.
" I....can't believe it...." she whispered ever so quietly.
Ebony hues looked up to meet the gaze of amber ones that had already been watching her.
" Kikyou......she...."
He nodded...cutting off her words.
"Yes.....It's over. We won..."
Kagome could only express her happiness by crying. She hugged the hanyou's neck and cried out for joy.
Inuyasha laughed and twirled Kagome in the air. He lifted her so that she was above his head and he went in
cirles as she laughed down to him.
After a minute of this, he got serious and brought her down slowly. To feel every curve of her slender body
against his muscled form. His senses picked up a spike in her arousal, as it heated his own.
Kagome's feet barely touched the ground before he devoured her mouth in a fierce kiss.
Kagome matched the urge of his kiss with her amount of need. The kiss lasted a while. Their tongues encirling
one another, as they explored one another's mouth.
He was the one to break it, as he smiled warmly to her. His eyes read hunger and love. He could barely hold back
a growl at how amazing she looked. Her lips slightly swollen from their kiss. Her cheeks held a hint of a blush.
She was panting hotly.
" Kagome......"
"Yes....Inuyasha.?"
