She nodded her head in thanks, climbed out of the spring, quickly wrapped the large drying cloth around herself and hastily ran to the archway.

Before she lifted the curtain to exit she turned her head around and said, "Oyasumi nasai, Sesshoumaru-sama."

"This is not the end." was his last reply when she disappeared behind the curtain.

Chapter 11: Realization

Kagome ran into her room and closed the door behind her panting.

"Oh Kami-sama, What am I going to do?" she cried out pacing the room hurriedly.

"Huh? Child what's wrong?" said an unknown hushed voice that sounded like it was just disturbed from sleep.

"What!?! Who's there?" Kagome gasped.

"Calm down child, I am no foe." the voice said soothingly.

"Who are you? Where are you?" Kagome asked frantically searching the room with her eyes for the stranger.

"Come to the vanity and look into the mirror." said the voice.

She cautiously stepped to the vanity and peered in to the mirror as told.

She didn't see her own reflection but one of a middle-aged youkai woman with small hints of laugh lines traced along her eyes and tanned cheeks.

She had a crown of autumn leaves set on her long golden brown hair, soft glowing orange eyes and a yellow kimono with a thick red sash.

Kagome looked behind her to see if the woman was their, she wasn't. Her eyes returned to the woman in the mirror and shakily asked, "W-who are y-you?"

The woman in the mirror gave a gentle smile and answered, "My name is Akisha, now what woes ye?"

Kagome thought for a second and then it came to her, "Your Sayaiko's great great grandmother, aren't you?" she asked drowning her fear with fascination.

"Hai, ye seem to know me then who is ye?" Akisha replied with her gentle smile remaining.

"Yoroshiku, Akisha-sama. My name is Kagome." she answered warming up to the unusual youkai's presence.

"Well now Kagome-chan, what is wrong? I can see you are troubled." Akisha asked sincerely.

"Oh, it's not my place to burden you with my worries. May I ask you something though?" she asked softly.

"You may, only if you will in return confide in me your woes." Akisha compromised.

"Ok," Kagome accepted hesitantly, "Why is it that I can hear and see you now and other times when I would look into this mirror I would see myself?"

"Ye has woken me up with yere loud cries." she responded giving a soft yawn.

"Please forgive me." Kagome apologized.

"Don't worry yourself anymore young Kagome, I was bound to wake sometime." she said assuringly, "Now tell me what worries ye to call upon Kami-sama."

Kagome kept her end of the compromise and explained the heated moment shared with Sesshoumaru and her confusion. She received a series of nods and amused grins from Akisha, while she told her situation, but she never interrupted.

At the end of Kagome's explanation Akisha finally gave a response, "The young Sesshoumaru has found an interest. He was a good pup; he just got a bit troubled when his lovely mother passed. It's interesting he would gain feelings for a ningen………no offense my dear."

"None taken, but that's I'm so confused about, it's just so weird to have him like me when for the last three years he has tried to kill and I know he dislikes humans." she exclaimed with a furrowed brow. "It's surprising enough that I am here and still alive. I admit I taunt him but I never expect him to comply.

"Half the time I'm not even sure what I want. When I actually get to the point of getting something I desire I just tense up and don't want it anymore. I'm sorry, I'm rambling now." she caught herself feeling embarrassed.

"Oh no, I enjoy the chatter, its been quite awhile since I've had company while awake." she said reassuringly.

Kagome felt better expressing herself, so she dramatically exhaled and asked, "What do you think I should do?"

"Well dear, it shouldn't matter what I think but ye truly feels. Maybe your heart has other business it wants to finish before it starts on a new one." Akisha said wisely.

Kagome thought hard about what the wise youkai said and replied, "That makes so much sense."

"Glad to have helped young Kagome………would you like t-."

Akisha was interrupted by an abrupt knock at the door a voice whispering, "Kagome-san are you still awake?"

Kagome gave Akisha a surprised smile, got up and opened the door letting Sayaiko.

"I'm happy your still awake, I wanted to tell you I am sorry for leaving the hot spring without a word, but Lord Sesshoumaru gave e orders and I am in no place to contradict them." Sayaiko explained.

"It's ok Sayaiko, I understand." Kagome said with a wide grin.

"You seem a bit cheerful, may I ask why?" Sayaiko said returning a polite smile.

Kagome grinned even wider. She grabbed Sayaiko's arm and pulled her in front of the mirrored vanity.

Sayaiko gave an unsure expression, and then she looked into the mirror and fell to her knees.

"Great great grandmother Akisha-sama, your awake, I am grateful to see you again." She stated.

"Hana-chan please stand. I want to see how much you have grown. Akisha said warmly.

Sayaiko modestly stood up and stared unpretentiously at Akisha leaving Kagome feeling slightly uncomfortable and misplaced from their rejoice.

"Has great great grandfather Fuyuko-sama woken and told you of my accident?" Sayaiko mentioned bashfully looking at her feet.

"Iie, what accident has occurred?" Akisha asked tilting her head curiously.

"I broke him in two pieces by a mistake-"

"Nani?!?" She exclaimed perplexed.

"I healed him though. I guess he's still recouping." Sayaiko assured quickly.

Kagome silently stepped away from the two Ki youkai while they continued their conversation.

She went into the large bedroom closet, picked out a thin white silk sleeping kimono, slipped it on and put her hair into a loose ponytail.

Instead of stepping back into the bedroom she decided to sit quietly in the closet and think to herself.

`Inuyasha, I despise you yet my heart clings to you as if you once nurtured it.' Kagome thought while letting hot tears pour silently down her flushed cheeks.

A.N. Deep huh? Muhahahahahaha!!! *Ahem* Next few chapters are going to be a tad depressing. I won't formally introduce Fuyuko for a while but her will be introduced ………eventually. Ok………Well please review and a flame wouldn't burn that much. Cya!
