Issho no Kimatsushiken

Chapter 2: Melancholy

 

The forest was path was uneven an unstable as three lone horses could be seen in the distance. 'I still don't see why brother had to go and give her a horse for herself after she was the reason one of the horses escaped.' Still grumbling in his mind about how his older brother was up ahead conversing with that girl Rin. Meanwhile he was stuck sharing a horse with Suteru, now he didn't have anything against their human servant, but they were a little to close for comfort. He could see that both his brother and Rin had grown silent, 'What is brother thinking?' He wondered as he maintained pace according his brother's wishes.

Meanwhile Akurei was wondering how in the hell he had let Rin talk him into taking the forest path, not only was it infested with youkai, it also was a very uncomfortable ride. 'Damn her and her beauty and charm. How in the seven hells was i suppost to resit that look?' he sighed but continued on the path, no matter, the forest hike/ride was just one minor set back, and in the end it would not make a differance. "Tsumetai-sama?" Akurei was brought out of his grumblings by the formal way that Rin adressed him, "What did you just call me?" Rin instantly lowered her head and prepared for some form of scolding, "I-I-I am sorry. Rin did not mean to insult you." her voice quivered with fear. Akurei sighed, but smiled as he manuvered his horse closer to Rin's, "There is no need to be afraid or apologize Rin, I am not angry. But I would prefer it if you adressed me as Akurei, and not Akurei-sama, nor Tsumetai-sama is that alright?"

Rin nodded as she looked back at Akurei with a smile on her face, "Yes Akurei-sam.... I mean Akurei." She blushed slightly at the slip of her tongue. Akurei chuckled satisfied that he would no longer be adressed as a superior, as he clearly was lower than her in each and every way. 'Stop thinking like that.' he scolded himself. He was better than that, just not better than one as pure and kind-hearted as Rin.

For some time Rin had been wondering if Akurei and his companions were human. With the exception of Suteru, Akurei and his brother Kibu seemed to have many un-human characteristics. They both often time emitted very dog-like growls whenever the subject of Sesshomaru was brought up. Also when Akurei had smiled at her she could have sworn she saw that he posseded a set of fangs. 'Well, only one way to find out...' Gathering all her courage Rin turned to face her traveling companion/Guardian. "Uhmm...Akurei....?" Rin was temporarily mesmorized by the intense green eyes that made the summer leaves look like winter snow. His gaze was so intense that she was forced to look away to keep him from seing the blush that filled her face. Since he knew that she could not see his smirk, it only widened even more. He really was enjoying the reaction he got from her everytime he smiled at her, or met her eyes. "How may be of service to you Rin-sama?" If it was possible Rin blushed even harder, there were many ways he could be of service to her. 'Stop thinking like that. Bad Rin, Bad, Bad Rin.'

She tried to face him, but al that came as a result was her nearly falling of her horse from the smile he gave her. After composing herself she tried again to ask her question, "I...I...I...." she stammered trying desperatly to rid herself of the blush that stained her cheeks. All that resulted from this was a chuckle from Akurei and her own face becoming ten times more red. "You can ask anything you want Rin-sama, be not embarassed." The smile he gave her made her want to melt into a puddle of whatever it was that she was made of. Taking a deep breath she gathered her thoughts and tried to ask again, "Areareyouayoukai?" Akurei raised his eyebrow as a snicker could be heard comming from both of the other men. "Pardon?" Akurei asked. If it were possible to die of embarrasement, Rin would have spontaneously combusted several times.

"Are-are you-you." She took a deep breath and just plain out said it, "Are you a youkai?"

"Ahh, so that is what this is about." Akurei gave her a full smile showing her his canine like fangs. "Yes Rin-sama, I am youkai....*sigh* to be more exact I am a hanyou. If it were not for this fuyouheki stone necklace then I would be exposed as a hanyou instead of the human I masquerade as."

At these words Rin's expression did a complete 180 turn. He had never seen a sentence turn agirl from eneregetically excited to crestfallen in the span of ten seconds. "So that means that all that..." She pointed at his hair, eyes, body and face, "Are just an illusion?" Akurei was confused an he could tell that his face was showing it, "What do you...." It suddenly hit him, what Rin was telling him was that she now assumed that what he looked like was just an illusion. "No Rin, you misunderstand." Rin looked at him, hope in her eyes, "You see, the fuyouheki stone doesn't alter apperances, it just hides our demonic traits, such as claws, ears or eyes. What you see is just a slight alteration of my true self." It took a moment for the words to sink in, but in a few moments her confused look was replaced by a wicked smile, "May I see them?"

Akurei was taken aback by her question, "What?" Her smile only grew with his shocked responce, "You said that I could ask whatever I wanted, and I wish to see your demonic atributes." When he looked like he was about to deny her what she wanted she had no choice but to use her secret weapon, "I am carrying your child!" Suteru who had been drinking from a jug of water spit it all out in a misty mixture of water and saliva. Unfortunatly, Kibu was on the recieving end of the blast, and resulted in just ending up wet. Akurei had just plain fallen off his horse, Rin realizing what she had just said gasped and covered her mouth, "Whoops, wrong one." Laughter exploded from Suteru and Kibu at the expece of Akurei and Rin's embarassment. Akurei stood slowly and brushed the dust off his black Hamaka and Haiori. "As I did state that you could ask whatever you wanted, I will show you my demonic atributes as long as you promise me one thing...." Rin nodded, she would do whatever she asked 'SEX SLAVE! SEX SLAVE! SEX SLAVE!' she chanted in her head, though she knew there was little chance of that. "....I want you to promise you will never tell me that again." Rin sweat dropped as she fell of her horse, "Can't take a joke can we...?" She was cut short as she saw Akurei remove a gold chain that held attached to it was a shinning green pendant with a green stone in the center. Once the necklace was removed she couldn't help the gasp that escaped her. It was like looking at an exact same replica of Sesshomaru-sama's brother Inuyasha-sama. Of coarse there were a few differances, while Inuyasha's dog ears were white, Akurei's were black. Obviously Inuyasha's eyes were a beautiful mixture between amber and gold, Akurei's were a bright green that made jade look like marble. And finally, while Inuyasha's hair was a silvery-white colour, Akurei's was a perfect mixture of Platnum and Gold. Though these made Akurei obviously different, in Rin's eyes it only made him look like some kind of god.

Akurei knew what was going to happen, so it was no surprise when he heard Rin's gasp. "As you can see, I am indeed a creature that is worth less than scum. I fully understand if you do not wish to continue traveling with us. I apologize for decieving you Rin-sama." With that he began to walk away. Rin instantly realised that he had taken her reaction in a bad way. Quickly she ran and placed herself infront of him, as she put her hands on his firm chest to keep him from continuing forward. "No Akurei-sama, I mean Akurei...its not that, its just that....well its just that...."

"Just what?"

"Its just that... Well, you just have a remarkably similar apperance to Sesshomaru-sama's younger brother Inuyasha-sama."

Akurei's eyes instantly widened. "You mean you've met Inuyasha-sama? He's alive? Do you know where he is?" All Rin could do was nod rapidly to all his questions. "Yes Rin knows where Inuyasha-sama likes, if you like Rin could take you there to show her appreciation for saving her life." Akurei nodded, "Thank you Rin-sama." He stoped his horse so that he could talk with his brother, "KIBU!" he motioned for him to follow him into the forest. When Kibu was close enough he told himwhat he had just learned, "Kibu, there's been a change of plans, tell Suteru not to activate the shards until we are in the village." All he got in return was a confused look, "Village? I thought that Sesshomaru liked in a castle?" Akurei nodded,

"That's why I said there was a change of plans."

"Then why are we going to a village for? You were never one to sociolize with them."

"Let's just say that were going to pay a visit to our favorite cousin..."

Kibu was thoughroly confused, they only had two cousins Sesshomaru and.....

"Inuyasha? You found Inuyasha? Where? How?" Akurei nodded, "Thanks to Rin I do now." Kibu's face went from excited to worried,

"Brother, are you sure we can trust her?"

"Of Coarse we can trust her, if anything, she should be the one that doesn't trust us."

"Brother, please don't let your feelings cloud your judgement."

That's when Akurei snapped.

"WHAT, YOU THINK THIS WILL BE LIKE LAST TIME? IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK? HUH? THAT I'M STUPID ENOUGH TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE TWICE?" Kibu didn't even flich as Akurei's claws sank into his throat, and he was shoved onto a tree's trunk, "You...know...thats...not....what....I.....meant....." He said between gasps, yet his arms remained at his sides.

"Then what did you mean?" Suddenly he realised that he was strangling his brother, He let go of Kibu as he fell on his knees, "What do you want from me Kibu?" He sobbed as his head fell, "I am cursed with human emotions, I need to feel trust. And yet....I am condemmed to be betrayed by everyone that I trust. Why......? Tell Me!! What did I do to deserve such a fate?" Kibu sighed as he looked at his brother, he struggled to force back his own tears, it was true, his brother did not deserve a fate that was so cruel. Since he could remember his brother had shown kindness and respect to all things. Yet he was always the one to be blamed and the first to be punished. He himself was a full demon, yet his brother did not hate him, it was the complete opposite. When there parents had been killed, Akurei had taken care of him, taking the blame for all the things that he did, whether it was done by accident or on purpose. "Brother....I only meant that well, you should not be so trusting....especially of humans." Akurei stood, his face was clear of any signs that he had been crying, turning he gave a short nod to his brother, "Yes Kibu, I know what you meant....its just that well. Its hard not to trust someone at times, because when you can't trust demons, humans or yourself who can you trust?" Kibu looked at the far off look in his brother's eyes, "Your thinking about back then aren't you?" His brother didn't give any acknowledgment that he hear him, which confirmed that he was thinking to back when he had been betrayed by the one person he thought he could trust, their oldest and in their opinion, their coolest cousin Sesshomaru.

Flash-Back

 

Akurei ran back home, he'd heard rumors that someone was planning on attacking the castle. While he could give less of a damn about the castle his mother, younger half brother and his own mother were in the castle. As soon as he was in eye sight of the castle he could see that the rumors had been true, all around were bodies of minor demons and humans. Obviously whoever had ordered the attack had been well prepared. His father's soldiers weren't pushovers. And so far all he could see were the bodies of his father's soldiers. "What the fuck....why aren't there any of the enemy's soldiers on the field?" A sudden chill crept through his body at the mere thought of whatever was attacking the castle. A familiar scream made his blood run cold, 'Mom....' He didn't hesitate as he ran towards the sound of the scream. 'She'll be alright, she is a priestess. She can handle herself. Please be safe mother....' Another scream made him run even faster, this was not his mother's, but the scream of terror was a child's. "KIBU!!!" He yelled as he broke through the doors that the scream had originated from. The instant he was in the room, he regreted even going in, a bloody body lay slumped face down in a pool of her own blood. "MOTHER!!" he screamed as he ran to his mother's corpse, shaking her he hoped that he could save her, she still had a pulse, but it was weak. "Mother....please....please wake up...WAKE UP!!" he saw his mother give him one last smile before her body went limp in his arms... "NO, NO MOTHER DON'T DIE! NO YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME WAKE UP PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF KAMI PLEASE WAKE UP!!" he cried as tears fell from his eyes freely. He held her body for a few moments before a sudden cry drew his attention, he turned only to see Yuna, Kibu's mother fall to the floor. "YUNA!" he yelled. laying his mother's body back on the floor and quickly crossing her arms he ran to his brother's mother. "A-A-Akurei.....? I-I-Is.....ttthat.....youuuuu?" she choked out coffing up blood with each word, "Yes Yuna, its me hold on don't die on me. Your the only one that's left. Where's Kibu?" She pointed outside the door "I...told...him....to...run...while...I...held....him...off...." Akurei looked confused and tormented as he held her rapidly dying body in his arms, "Who Yuna? Who did this? Who killed my mother? Who did this to you? Tell me!" The words she said would haunt him for the rest of his life and fill him with hatred such as the world had never seen. "Seee..shoou...maaa..ruuu.." Was the last thing she said as she passed from that world to the next, freed from the pain that she was suffering. Akurei couldn't believe it...Sesshomaru? No he must have heard wrong, Sesshomaru would never do such a thing he might be cold, but he was not a murderer! But Akurei did not have time to ponder any longer when he heard pleading, "NO PLEASE. PLEASE COUSIN DON'T. HELP ME! HELP! SOMEBODY HELP!" Akurei instantly rose he could recognize that voice anywere, "Kibu..." He'd lost his mother and Kibu's, there was no way he'd let his brother meet the same fate. He ran towards the door that Yuna had come through. Sure enough at the end of the hall he could see little Kibu cowering in fear in a corner of the room. "KIBU!!" Kibu's head instantly rose at the sound of his brother's voice. "BROTHER!!" he yelled as he tried to make a run towards him but was knocked into the wall by a man's fist connecting with the child's face. Akurei tore into the room and crouched by his brothers body, completly forgetting that there was another presence in the room.

"So the worthless half breed shows his face...." Akurei's blood turned to ice at the sound of the voice who said the remark. 'It...can't be....she...Yuna was right...' turning his head he came face to face with Sesshomaru. "Se-Sesshomaru? Why?" he questioned the older demon he had looked up to since he was old enough to know what a hero was. "WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THIS SESSHOMARU?! WHAT THE FUCK FOR? ANSWER ME DAMN IT!" Sesshomaru only gave him a cold smile, "I do not have to explain myself to the likes of you." With that Sesshomaru appered in front of him and all that Akurei felt was a white hot pain as Sesshomaru's hand cut right through his chest. "DIE WORTHLESS HANYOU!" Those were the last words he heard before he felt Sesshomaru's poison coarse right through his body. "My father....will...not let you get....away with this...." Sesshomaru's sadistic laughter was what he heard before he whispered the final words he would hear before death gripped him, "Your father is already dead. Rotting in a cave were you and you pathetic brother shall join him..."

End Flashback

 

Akurei turned his eyes back to his brother, "Kibu, your my brother and you know I would die before I let something happen to you. But your a full demon you could leave at anytime and not have to suffer the life you do. You don't and shouldn't have to know what it feels like to be hated for the blood that coarses through your body....So when someone comes along that you think doesn't care about what you are, you can't help but trust them. But I've learned my lesson. And so to shall Sesshomaru, he will regret the day he betrayed us. I swear it on our father's grave I will kill him and I will do it slowly and painfully. Come, let us put our plan in motion." KIbu couldn't help but feel more confidence in his brother's plan, 'Yes brother, I know you will...'

The Forest behind the Higurashi Shrine

 

Kagome lay with her back rested to a tree, staring with awe at the scene in front of her. Her time might not be as beautiful as the Sengoku Jidai, but it was times like this that she lived for. The Sakura trees had just blossomed and the breeze scattered them into the wind, filling the air with beautiful pink pedals and the wonderful scent of the Sakura flowers. Kagome was listening to her Cd player it had just finished one of her favorite songs "Ready, Steady, Go!" By L'Arc~en~Ciel, when a song that she felt described the way she thought Inuyasha felt about their relationship, 'If there even is one....' she thought sadly. (Translation is at the end of the chapter.)

'That about says it all...Kami knows how much I love him. But is it possible he feels the same......?'

My friends Eri and Yuka, Yura of the hair, I even defeated Kikyo so Inuyasha wouldn't have to go to hell with her. But he still loves her. Will he ever realize that the Kikyo he loved died 53 years ago?'

'Well that says it all...*sigh*....well I can always dream...' Looking down at her watch she noticed that it was time to go back to the Sengoku Jidai and continue what was left of the shard hunt and the hunt to destroy Naraku. "I promised I'd be back around noon, seeing how its only eleven I think I could go for a nice walk through the forest, its been a long time since I could go through that forest without being attacked. Besides what Inuyasha doesn't know won't hurt him...." As she neared the well house she noticed that the door had been left open and she could see Souta running the opposite way she was comming from at top speed, 'How may times do I have to tell him that he can't cross-over? Even if he could he would be ripped to shreds by demons almost instantly....men.' She sighed mentally as she junped into the well. It never occured to Kagome that maybe it wan't Souta that opened the well house door, but Inuyasha who was in search of her.

 

________________________________MEANWHILE________________________ ___

In the Forest of Inuyasha

 

An almost petrified silence filled the air in the forest. Even the wind itself seemed to be at the very wim and will of the great tai-youkai. Sesshomaru walked through the forest in search of the source of all his problems. The pathetic hanyou known as his brother...., Inuyasha. Desgust crossed his features at the mere thought of him. Sesshomaru was nothing less than ashamed to be even related to him, he could not help but wonder how those that he traveled with put up with him. Which was why he was here... He, unlike his brother had learned from his mistakes. Everytime he tried to kill him, somehow he found the strenght to force him to retreat. After months of remembering every detail, he realized that in every battle he'd had one major asset that he did not have....the miko. Inuyasha was, obviously, in love with the miko. The very desire to protector was what gave him the strenght to defeat him. 'To kill the warrior, one must simply destroy what he values most. Kill the warrior's spirit, and you kill the warrior.' Of coarse, this proved more difficult than it seemed. He'd sent Rin to lure the miko away from her puppy, then he could strike, however Rin mysteriously dissapered as a result here he was. 'Humans...so unreliable. It just proves that if you want something done right, you do it yourself.' He assumed that Rin had just lost her way and was currently wandering around in circles. 'I shall fetch her later, first I must find the miko.' No sooner was that thought just thought that he felt it, a powerful aura of positive energy flow through the forest. As if reasured the forest came to life, he smirked, 'These creatures must be sure of her power....' He made a quick search of the area sending out his youki in search of any familiar people. Inuyash was nowhere to be found; The monk, the demon slayer, the kitsune, and the neko were all in the nearby village. Ironically he found that Rin was entering the village in the company of three other humans. Something about them made him feel as though he knew them, brushing the feeling aside he focused on the task at hand. To destroy Inuyasha he would take what he loved most, 'I shall make the miko my mate...' Quickly he pulled out a stone that changed from green to a crimson red the instant he held it. It was fortunete of him that a neko youkai who had been masquerading as a monk, after he disposed of the neko he took the stone to a dark miko. After bribing her she enhanced the stone so that not only did it hide his youki, but it also disguised his very presence. Turning he saw that the miko had climbed out of some well and was walking his way. Swiftly he lept into the tree, as soon as she had passed he leaped down. The miko never knew what happened as his fangs sank into his neck....

Dark_Yasha: YEAHHHHHH!!!!! WHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!! CHAPTER 2! SPRING BREAK ROCKS!!! *Drunkenly* Y'all wanna know how many breasts I saw??? Thirteen!!!!
