Chapter 1: The Kiss

 

 

Kagome froze.

 

Sesshomaru stole this chance to pull Kagome towards him. In split second, Kagome and Sesshomaru lips were locked. Inuyasha and the others looked wide-eyed as Sesshomaru slowly deepened the kiss.

 

`What's he doing?' Kagome thought, as Sesshomaru's arm snaked to her little back, holding her by her slim waist-softly yet firmly at the same time.

 

“Sesshomaru you damn ass! Let go of Kagome NOW!” Inuyasha's voice broke the silence, and the kiss. Sesshomaru slowly let go of Kagome, his eyes boring into hers. Kagome could see amusement, and was not sure of the reason.

 

The wetness and the taste of him still lingered on her lips. `God…what exactly was he doing just now?' Kagome pondered, her tongue unconsciously wetting her lips, a sign that she was thinking hard.

 

Sesshomaru instantly hardened as he saw how Kagome was licking her lips. It was erotic and sexy in his opinions, but he quickly banished these thoughts as he saw Inuyasha pointing his sword at him again.

 

“Sesshomaru! Are you fucking listening to me? Let go of Kagome!” Inuyasha was furious now, anger flowed to his eyes. `What is Kagome thinking? Th-This is insane!' he thought, his bushy brows came together in a frown.

 

Kagome suddenly regained her senses and jumped out of Sesshomaru's hold. Running towards Inuyasha and the others, she hid behind Inuyasha who shielded her from Sesshomaru. She needed to process all the information, while Shippo jumped to her shoulders, asking her for details.

 

“Explain yourself!” Inuyasha shouted at Sesshomaru, his sword still pointing at him.

 

`Here it goes Rin…' Sesshomaru thought. Sighing deeply, he allowed his icy mask to return and he looked at Inuyasha with intense eyes.

 

“Tell me, Inuyasha…do you love Kagome?” he asked, arms crossings. Inuyasha looked visibly shocked, thinking,' why…why is he asking me this suddenly?' Behind him, Kagome looked down. She was no longer thinking.

 

She was listening.

 

Listening to the truth, the truth she feared, the truth she wanted to escape forever.

 

“I…I…you are shifting the topic!” Inuyasha retorted back, silently hoping that the case would close, but obviously not.

 

“Tsk, Tsk, Tsk,” Sesshomaru started, smiling a little that shocked Inuyasha. “Well, why don't I tell you then?”

 

Inuyasha heart skipped a beat, but his face did not show it. `Shit…' he thought.

 

“You never love Kagome,” Sesshomaru said, stopping to take in the look of Inuyasha-beyond shocked, and Kagome-beyond sad. `This is going well,' he thought and smiled inwardly.

 

“You only took Kagome as a replacement of Kikyo-that undead miko. You see Kikyo in Kagome, you are always thinking of Kikyo and you only regard Kagome as second best and Kikyo as the best am I right little brother?” he smirked at Inuyasha, whose eyes reveled guilt.

 

“Kagome,” Sesshomaru said softly and tenderly. When Kagome looked up, he smelt tears, which went un-noticed by Inuyasha, who was looking blanked at that moment.

 

“Kagome, I have realized that I was amazed by you since the day I saw you. I guessed you can called it `love at first sight',” he smiled one of his rare smile again, and within seconds, he was hugging Kagome. Carrying her bridal style, he fly towards his castle at the west using his `cloud'.

 

“Inuyasha! Inuyasha! Wake up!” Sango shouted, shaking him by his shoulders. Inuyasha was very blank. `Kikyo or Kagome?' he thought to himself, oblivious to Sango's words.

 

Back at the castle, Kagome had cried and Sesshomaru had embraced her, allowing her to wet his kimono [the armor was off].

 

Several minutes later, Kagome released herself from him, muttering a “sorry”. After telling her to sit down, Sesshomaru's icy mask soon slipped back.

 

“Now, lets get to business,” he said, emotionless.

 

Kagome looked confused, and said,” pardon, what do you mean?”

 

Sesshomaru clicked his tongue and looked at her, annoyed.

 

“The reason I kissed you, is because I want Inuyasha to completely give up on you, to think that I really like you.”

 

“You mean…”

 

“I needed a woman, a human woman to take care of my ward and teach her how to be a proper lady and you wench will be assigned to do this,” Sesshomaru said.

 

Just then, a girl popped out of nowhere, followed by a seemly distressed Jaken behind her.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru!” Rin grinned, launching herself on Sesshomaru.

 

“Rin, this is Kagome. From now one, she will be taking care of you,” Sesshomaru said to Rin.

 

Rin smiled at Kagome, who said,”Hello Rin,” in a forced way. She could no longer hide the bitterness that threatened to break out of her voice and the tears that seemed to have forced its way out of her eyes.
