Kagome woke up with ache in her neck from the distorted position she was in from when she went to bed. Her hair was all knotted from tossing in her sleep, and her head was throbbing.

She slowly got out of bed. As she did she heard a soft clang on the floor from the wine bottle last night. She dismissed it as she groggily stepped into the bathroom to shower. She looked at herself in the mirror. She saw her makeup had ran all over her face from crying. Bags under her eyes clearly distinguished that she had trouble falling asleep last night.

She stumbled into the shower to wash away the feelings from last night. Refusing to comfort herself, her face was met only with cold water. Her makeup easily washed away, but the thoughts flashing through her head stayed there. Her thoughts easily wandered off to think his brown eyes, whom now she could never see again. She suddenly saw her storming out of the restaurant, and cringed. A scene like that sealed the fact that she and Hojo could never go back together. She felt herself crying, but was unsure whether it was the water from the shower or her very own tears.

Sango, Kagome's best friend, called later in the afternoon. Kagome brought herself to say that she and Hojo were no longer. "Oh, Kagome I'm so sorry! I thought you guys were perfect for eachoth-- Listen, nothing lasts forever, and besides, he wasn't worth it anyway. Do you want me to come over? C'mon, it'll be a girls night!"

Kagome sighed, "Sango, it's okay. I think I just need to be alone for a while. I appreciate it, but I'm fine. I'll see you at work tomorrow."

Sango gave in, "Okay, but if you need anything just call, ok?"

"Okay, bye.", replied Kagome.

After Kagome got off the phone, she shuffled to the kitchen. She started to make herself a sandwich, then plopped down right there on the kitchen floor. `What's wrong with me, I can't even make a sandwich without thinking of... him. Maybe I should call Sango... No, Kagome, you have to do this yourself! Sango, or anyone else for that matter can't help you.'

Kagome idly poured herself a drink as she continued to sit along her kitchen floor. She idly sipped as she tried to clear her mind away from Hojo. The alcohol in the drink grasped her and let her thoughts wander; it was her only way out. She felt the need to forget about Hojo slipping as she continued to drink. She didn't care how much she drank, as long as it helped her forget about him.

Kagome just sat there, memorized. She felt the need to do something crazy, but she didn't know what she could do in the privacy of her own home. She continued to sit there, but an idle smile crossed her face as she continued to be lost in her own fantasy world. She lost all track of time as she continued to just... sit there. She eventually fell asleep on the kitchen floor.

---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------

She was awoken by a phone call. Her whole body seemed to sway as she made her way to the phone?

"Hey, Kagome! Are you ready? I'm just about to leave my house now to pick you up for work. I'll see you in a bit, k?" Sango then hung up the phone without waiting for Kagome's reply.

`Work? Work!? How can I go to work like this??' Kagome scanned her current attire- sweat pants a big shirt. `Shit.'

Kagome clumsily dashed to her room and started throwing about her clothes. She tripped on the bottle on the floor and nearly went flying. She regained her balance and continued to search for suitable clothes. She put on khaki pants with an ironed button-up blouse. She put a sweater over her shirt, letting the collar of her shirt show. She then looked at herself in the mirror. `My hair is a mess!'

Kagome clambered around for a brush. She finally found it and managed to straighten out her hair to a reasonable point. `Okay, now for makeup.' Kagome's thoughts were interrupted by the beep of a horn from outside. She hurriedly put on some lipstick, but was still unsatisfied. She heard another beep from outside and decided that was all she could. She grabbed her coat and purse and hurriedly dashed outside.

---------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------

Sango studied her in the car. "Kagome.. you look horrible. See I told you that I should of come over."

Kagome already had a headache, "Sango, not now okay? I know I don't look that great.. I don't feel it either. But just leave me alone!"

Sango felt taken back. For the rest of the ride she just strummed her fingers against the steering wheel. Kagome didn't seem to notice, instead she was focusing more on putting on makeup so she didn't look as bad as Sango said she was.

---------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------

Work was hectic, Kagome couldn't focus due to her hangover and people seemed to notice something was wrong. Wherever Kagome went, eyebrows were raised as the usually perky and energetic girl was replaced by a lethargic, cranky and clumsy Kagome. She said nothing as she continued to work throughout the day.

When work ended, Kagome resorted to taking the bus. She didn't want to have to listen to Sango scold her on her behavior throughout the day. Her hangover was finally over, and she now had her thoughts in order. `That was so embarrassing! I can't go to work again like that. No more alcohol for me, then.'

Kagome didn't know how these words would affect her. She would find out though, and soon.
