Chapter Two:

Disclaimer: I don’t own Inuyasha.

Inuyasha locked the front door of Jewels Shards Bail Bonds heaving a sigh as he pocketed his keys.

'Another week and another paycheck.’ It was a tame week considering there were no bounty hunts that week much to his disappointment. He really would have enjoyed a good chase to vent some of his frustrations at Kikyo. She had been missing all week and he’d made regular visits to her apartment, only to find her scent slowly fading. Nothing touched, nothing moved, just an empty apartment and Kikyo’s fading scent.

He turned the corner of the building when he noticed his newest employee sitting on a bus bench. A particularly scraggly looking homeless man was chatting with her, and Inuyasha could smell her unease from where he stood. He stopped to watch and heard bits of the conversation.

"Cindy, I know its you...,” the homeless man slurred.

"I’m sorry sir, but you’re mistaken,” Kagome said kindly, but his nose picked up a spicy scent, and he noticed Kagome was clutching a small can of pepper spray.

'That harmless homeless person is scaring her that much? I guess they don’t get much of that in the country.’ he mused to himself. The man moved closer to Kagome saying something he couldn’t hear but the fear on Kagome’s face was real enough for him to intervene.

"Oi, Old man leave the girl alone”

The homeless man looked at him with a confused expression then at Kagome he opened his mouth to reply but Inuyasha pinned him with a glare, the man closed his mouth scuttled over to his shopping cart piled high with recycling and ran away.

'Harmless old geezer.’ he thought then looked to Kagome, she looked relieved but he could smell her anxiety.

"You alright?” he said

"I’m fine,” she replied shakily.

She looked so defenseless standing there hand clutching a large yellow bag in front of herself, with her other arm wrapped around her body as if to protect herself. He looked at her full in the face for the first time since she started working for him. She had warm brown eyes that were very alluring and inviting. He never realized how similar she looked to Kikyo until now. But not entirely like Kikyo though, Kagome’s eyes had a warmth to them while Kikyo’s eyes were cold and piercing. The next thing he said before even thinking about it.

"Do you want a ride home?” he said gently, ‘Why did I say that I need to find Kikyo I can’t waste time babying the new girl, I’m hopeless. Too late now I already said it.’

"If you don’t mind,” Kagome said quietly gaze averted.

"Where do you live?” He said softly, ‘What is it about this girl that makes me want to be gentle? I’m never gentle.’

"In College Grove.” she said raising her warm brown eyes to his molten gold; he felt like he could get lost in the depths of those eyes. He shook himself to break her spell on him.

"That’s fine,” he said gruffly, ‘That’s better.’

"I was going that way anyway.” It was half true, it was, in an out of the way sort of way, towards the direction of Kikyo’s apartment.

He led her around the corner of the building to his pride and joy his 1970 Ford Mustang cherry red with red interior. It had taken him years to restore it because when he bought it, it was no more than a rusted body. He had put blood, sweat and tears into rebuilding that car. He felt a sense of pride as Kagome ooh’d and awed at his baby.

"What a beautiful car,” she said opening the passenger side door.

"Thanks. Restored her myself,” He climbed into the drivers seat and Kagome climbed into the passenger seat.

"Really, that’s impressive,” she said admiring the interior, he felt a swelling of pride in his chest.

"Keh, it was nothing.”

They traveled in an oddly comfortable silence after that. Several times, he had wanted to say something, but nothing seemed appropriate he knew absolutely nothing about the girl other than what was written on her resume, or what he’d over heard her telling to Sango. She somehow seemed familiar to him, which made him feel more at ease.

"So what are you plans for the weekend?” she said breaking the silence,

'Stalking my girlfriend.’

"Probably just a quiet night at my townhouse,” he said casually “You?”

"I guess I have a date,” she said fidgeting with the edge of her pink shirt. A light blush gracing her cheeks and it was charming on her.

"Sounds nice,” he said attempting at causal.

"Yeah,” she said quietly looking out the window, blush still tingeing her cheeks. He couldn’t help but think how cute she looked with a little pink on her cheeks.

The conversation stemmed after that, except for the occasional I like this song, or take this exit.

He pulled up to her apartment complex twenty minutes later, and parked his mustang. She got out of the car and smiled at him with those warm brown eyes,

"Thanks for the ride,” she said cheerfully, he half hoped she’d do that cute bow she did when she left the interview But She didn’t.

"Keh, I told you it was on my way,” he said as she closed the door,

She ran up the stairs to her apartment and he watched to make sure she made it inside safely before driving away, His mind once more set on his task for the night finding Kikyo and making her take him back.

He arrived at Kikyo’s apartment thirty minutes later no thanks to the traffic.

'It would have been faster if I ran,’ he thought moodily as he locked up his car. He had a feeling she would come back to her apartment eventually and when he could smell her from the parking lot when he knew she was home. He was glad, because it would of taken hours to chase her down around town, and gods only know what position he could of found her in. He shuddered at the thought of Kikyo wrapped in the arms of another man.

When He reached her door, he knocked lightly. She answered the door and it was like a waking dream. Her desirable scent wafting to his nose, and her long ebony hair was loose about her shoulders. She wore a loose fitting white long sleeve shirt and a floor length black skirt. Her face was a little drawn as if she hadn’t been sleeping well which concerned him.

"Kikyo,” he breathed, moving to walk into her apartment but he blocked his entry

"Inuyasha.” she said sounding almost annoyed, “What are you doing here?”

"What do you mean what am I doing here, I don’t want to be apart anymore, I’ve given you a week that should be more than enough time.” He could feel his impatience growing, this was how it went she pushed him away he gave her space then she welcomed him warmly.

"Inuyasha,” she said pinching the bridge of her nose, sighing in frustration “I told you I need space. This is not giving me space.”

"What the hell are you talking about Kikyo, we’ve been playing your game for two years this is how it goes you cant just change the rules on me in the middle”

"Inuyasha it’s complicated this time,” a slight breeze lifted an unwelcome, familiar scent; it was the man he scented in Kikyo’s room. “I’ve met some one new.”

As his worst suspicions were confirmed, his yokai roared within him. It took every ounce of self-control to not run in and gut the son of a bitch that was in Kikyo’s apartment somewhere.

"Is that where you’ve been all week?” he said through gritted teeth.

"You’ve been spying on me?” she replied coldly.

"You know it’s not like that Kikyo,” He replied angrily, “I worry about you I only have your safety in mind.”

"Inuyasha, it’s over.” Her gaze shot through him like an arrow there was no feeling, or emotion in her statement. It felt like she was just stamping on him and killing the core of his being.

'But I deserve it for what happened.’

"I’ve met some one who can make me happy the way you never could,” Her words were cold and calculating to inflict the most damage, “if you ever loved me you would let me be happy.”

"I could make you happy if you let me,” he replied sadly.

"Leave, Inuyasha.” she said firmly point behind him.

His yokai roared within him and he could feel his concealment slipping. His fangs elongated, as well as his nails. He only hoped he could get back to the car before his ears made an appearance. He jumped from the balcony at the front of Kikyo’s apartment landing neatly next to his Mustang. He opened the door so hard he nearly ripped the hinges off.

He turned on the ignition, and the engine roared beneath his feet, he put it in reverse and sped out of the parking lot. The drive to his beach side town home was a blur. He wouldn’t be surprised if he had ran over a pedestrian he was so blinded by rage. He drove up his drive way haphazardly parking, swinging open his door, and slamming it shut. He was to his front door in three strides, then slamming it closed so hard that his entire house shook.

He then preceded to destroy everything with in eyesight. He gouged the walls and smashed the furniture. It was so bad that even his expensive T.V. was decimated beyond repair. The whole time, he was imagining Kikyo’s callous dismissal of him and the unknown male just past the door where Kikyo stood. He had lost her again, but he deserved it for what happened in the past, maybe next time they could be together maybe his sins would be repaid after this. But how long would it be until he found her once again. It had taken him five hundreds years to find her a second time would a third time take another five hundred? Her tore off the door to his liquor cabinet removing several bottles of whisky, slugging away to a comfortable numb. ***************************************************

Kagome smooth her sapphire blue dress, checking her appearance for the twentieth time.

'Thank god Inuyasha drove me home or I don’t think I would have had enough time to get ready.’ She admired her figure in the blue halter, for its modest neckline it didn’t show to much cleavage and it hugged her curves in just the right way so she felt more like a lady and not a tramp. She had paired the dress with a pair of low slung, dark blue heels. She twirled a little her ebony hair bouncing as she did, she had gone for simple with her hair and make up; wearing only mascara and lip-gloss with a slight curl in her hair.

Kouga’s prediction that they wouldn’t see each other again until Friday had been wrong, for he had met her every morning at the bus stop and they would get coffee together. More than once he had offered to drive her to and from work, but she had politely declined, he worked in the opposite direction of her house and she still didn’t know the guy well enough for her to become that dependent on him. He’d given her a few rides home since the first one on Monday but today he had a meeting and Kagome was forced to ride the bus or almost ride the bus. She had to admit she was really scared when the homeless man had approached her, then he wouldn’t leave her alone insisting that she was his estranged wife Cindy.

If Inuyasha hadn’t shown up like a night in shinning armor she would have been forced to pepper spray the guy when he had gotten to close to her asking her to kiss him. She smiled a little at the memory of Inuyasha running up a disgruntled look on his face, he had been the nicest he ever was to her then. The entire week she worked there he hadn’t said more than a gruff sentence to her. The softness in his voice had surprised her, and she had felt like she could get lost in his amber eyes, such a strange eye color and so alluring. She needed to think of some way of thanking him for going out of his way and being her rescuer from certain discomfort. Maybe she would clean his office. It was filthy, covered in ramen cups, papers scattered everywhere.

'That should be sufficient.’ she smiled triumphantly to herself.

There was a knock at the door, bringing Kagome back from her thoughts of her employer, she blushed slightly as if Kouga would know she was thinking of another man while she was getting ready for her date with him. She opened the door to a beaming Kouga, his dark brown hair in a low pony tail, and he had a loose white collared shirt paired with brown slacks.

"Hey there beautiful!”

"Hi,” she blushed, and she knew she would never get used to his compliments.

He looked incredibly handsome as he walked into her apartment with a regal air, he looked around the room assessing it. She felt a little embarrassed that she lived in a pretty bare apartment. But she hadn’t decorated yet and her living room only consisted of a couch, T.V. and a night stand holding up a lamp.

"Let me get my purse,” Kagome said happily.

"Take your time,” he said making himself comfortable on the couch.

She ran into her room quickly grabbing a little black purse her mother had given her for her twentieth birthday and did another check of her appearance. She reentered the living room to see Kouga lounging as if he owned the place. She felt a little irked at his forward manner but stuffed it away.

"Ready?” she said,

"I was born ready,” he said beaming taking her hand leading her out the door, she barely had time to lock the door at the speed he was walking to the car.

'He sure is excited.’ she thought.

Comfortably seated in his car Kagome began playing twenty questions.

"So where are we going? You never told me,” she said with a pout.

"It’s a surprise,” he said mischievously.

She tried using puppy eyes to get it out of him to no avail.

"You’ll just have to wait and see,” he said.

They headed down town and all kinds of questions popped into her head, ‘Downtown what’s down town? Work, the park, his condo,' fear gripped her and she thought, ‘He wouldn’t be that forward bringing her to his condo for a first date would he?’

She gave him a side long glance accessing him, she didn’t think he would. They past the exit towards his condo and she sighed with relief, they took the next exit heading towards the ocean front. Where is he taking me? She thought she wasn’t very familiar with the town yet and still felt a little lost.

All her questions were answered when they pulled up to a seaside tourist attraction called Sea Port Village that Sango had told her about. It was supposed to be very romantic at night and had several restaurants.

"Oh!” Kagome cried when they pulled into the parking lot “I’ve been wanting to go here!”

"I thought you’d like it” Kouga grinned.

He pulled into a parking spot, and put the car in park. Faster than Kagome could unbuckle Kouga was out of the car and to her side of the car opening her door for her.

"Thanks‘” she said, ‘What a gentleman.’

He wrapped his arm around her waste and led her through the parking lot. Then through the small gift shops, a hammock store and a store that sold wind chimes. They walked past a couple of small restaurant along the boardwalk, to a seaside restaurant along the boardwalk that had red flowers along the entrance. When they got inside, he gave his name to the short blonde haired hostess, in an even shorter black dress who led them outside to the patio it was completely empty and candle lit. One single table sat at the edge of the patio with a perfect view of the bay. Kagome gasped a little,

"You did this for me?” she asked incredulously,

"Of course, nothing but the best for you Kagome.” He grinned.

The Hostess slipped away silently while Kouga held out Kagome’s chair for her to sit. She took her seat, then began eyeing the menu, and when she glanced up at Kouga she noticed that he was just staring straight at her. She blushed under his attention.

"Your eyes are beautiful in the candlelight,” He said suavely.

"Thank you,” she murmured.

"How did I get so lucky as to meet such a beautiful girl, even if she wont let me drive her everywhere like the princess she is,” He continued, menu held loosely in his hand.

"Kouga your embarrassing me,” she said, turning even brighter red.

"I’m sorry Kagome, I just love watching your cheeks turn pink, it’s adorable” he grinned at her

The waitress arrived making a welcome relief to Kagome, and She had dark brown hair in a high ponytail and a light dusting of freckles

"Good evening my name is Savannah, I‘ll be your waitress what can I get you folks?”

"I’ll have the Caesar salad and an iced tea,” Kagome said happily handing the menu to the woman’s outstretched hand, then she turned to Kouga expectantly.

"I’ll have the steak rare, and a Coke,” he said never taking his eyes from Kagome.

"Okay, I’ll be right out with your drinks,” the waitress said happily turning on her heal and leaving then alone.

"I see you like to eat healthy,” Kagome joked.

"Been eating like that all my life and its never effected me,” He winked.

"You sound like an old man, all of your life, you’re only twenty-five.”

"As far as you know,” he winked again,

Kagome stuck out her tongue at him.

The Waitress returned with their drinks and some bread, a few minutes later. They chatted amicably until their dinner arrived and then there was only the silent clinking of plates and forks. When they were done eating, Kouga left a hundred dollar bill on the table for the check and he led Kagome out his arm around her waist. They walked along the boardwalk, for it was nearly empty of tourists and all the little shops were getting ready to close up for the night, they managed to get into a small souvenir shop that had a shelf full of stuffed animal’s. Kagome noticed a white stuff dog and grabbed it.

"Oh Kouga, it’s so cute!”

"Do you want it I’ll buy it for you,” he said smoothly.

"Oh I couldn’t make you buy it for me its only a toy.”

"I don’t mind I insist, we’ll call it a first date gift.”

She beamed up at him as he had the older man behind the counter ring up their purchase. He handed him the dog in a little white bag with string handles,

"Thanks!” Kagome said hugging Kouga around the neck.

When they left, the store it was nearly nine o clock and the boardwalk was completely deserted. Kouga reached for Kagome’s hand and he led her along the bay under the crescent moon that reflected and danced along the water, they walked to the far end of the boardwalk and Kagome noticed a large set of stairs rising up.

"I bet you get a great view from up there,” she said longingly.

"Lets climb them,” Kouga replied.

"Are you sure, we have been doing a lot of walking.”

"I’m not tired,” he winked.

She took his word for it and dashed up the stairs, there was a quite a few stairs and she slowed down to a walking pace half way up, where Kouga caught up with her and put his hands on her hips as they climbed the rest of the stairs. When they reached the top Kagome felt out of breath, when she looked at Kouga he didn’t seem affected at all. Once she had caught her breath, she looked across the bay, the downtown buildings reflected in the water making it look like a underwater city was peaking through the dark water, the night wrapped around her like a twinkling shawl, everywhere she looked she could see the sparkling buildings and the dark water reflecting them.

"It’s beautiful isn’t it Kouga,” she turned to look at him and he was staring at her with rapt attention. He reached out to wrap his arm around her waist bringing her close to his chest. “Kouga?” she said huskily,.

He lifted her chin with his finger, she stared into his sapphire blue eyes. They were like two starless night skies. She felt herself getting lost in an endless universe that was Kouga. She felt his lips brush against hers lightly, and she returned the pressure lightly, only to pull away, but only slightly, to have him chase her lips. His tongue darted out parting her lips; she accepted it willingly his tongue massaging her tongue in slow circles.

They explored each other’s mouths and she felt her body melt into his. Desire crept up her body, both terrifying and wild. Their kiss deepened as Kouga ran his fingers through her hair; she clung to his shirt with one hand and kneaded small circles into his back. She felt his hands descend to her lower back copying her actions. Then she felt his hands descend even lower to cup her bottom. She bit his lip in a playful way has he kneaded her rear gently. She could feel her arousal rising she wanted him so bad, and she moved her hands to his chest and she rubbed his muscles.

One of his hands let her butt and traveled to the front of her dress caressing her breast cupping it in one hand, feeling her erect nipple. It was too much then she pulled away to face him. He looked at her with confusion.

"I think we’re moving to fast,” she said breathlessly,.

He looked at her but didn’t reply.

"I’m a virgin Kouga, if we keep going the way we’re going I’m going to regret my own actions.”

"I understand,” he said brushing a strand from her face. “Do you want to me to take you home now?”

"No, just hold me a little longer and enjoy the view. Then we can head home.”

He wrapped his arms around her stomach from behind. She leaned into him, as they watched the twinkling city lights a few moments longer. When she was ready to go, he led her back to the car and drove her home. The car ride was full of sexual tension, she felt like she could cut through the desire with a knife, and when they got to her apartment he walked her to her door, They had a less passionate kiss goodnight which Kagome cut off before it got to heavy again. Kouga looked at her longingly as she shut the door once they had said goodnight for the twelfth time.

She watched an infomercial from her thrift store couch in her pajama’s, her white stuffed dog snuggled in her lap. Her mind drifted to through the evening’s events and their kiss.

'That had to be the most passionate kiss I’ve ever had,’ she thought dreamily, ‘He was such a good kisser. I don’t know what would of happened if I hadn’t stopped it when I did.’ Kagome had an idea of how she wanted her first time to be and it was going to be with some one she loved, not on a first date. Though she really did like Kouga, she just wanted to take it slow and she appreciated his willingness to wait.

**********************************************************

Koug a watched Kagome’s apartment building fade into the distance. Her scent still lingered on his clothes and his cars interior, he could still taste her on his lips. He felt the sharp pain in his groin that was his erection as it pressed against his pants demanding he turn the car around. Why did she have to be so attractive? She had shown a whole other side of herself to Kouga tonight, she had turned into a wild lustful creature that made him want to throw her to the ground and rut her like the wolf he was. He had known the moment his lips touched hers that she was the one, there could be no other for him. It was like the one he had lost all those years ago returning to him once more. Only there wasn’t that half-breed in his way this time, Kagome was all his for the taking. But not yet, she was still pure and it would taking cunning and patience to get what he wanted. He could be patient he had waited nearly five hundred years to find some one who could compare to the only human he had ever cared about, before he met Kagome. ‘It wouldn’t be long,’ he thought smugly, ‘Until Kagome is mine forever. And I wont let her slip through my fingers’.

Another amazing edit done by my amazingly talented Beta Inubaka! Were moving along now so hopefully relatively soon we'll be caught up and I'll be coming out with the newest chapter instead of revising the old ones. Just some notes I don't own Seaport village or College grove as they are real places in San Diego.
