InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Just A Moment ❯ Epilogue ( Chapter 13 )
AN: Hello. We are very near our ending. Very near. I am sorry to finish this fic, but my muse is telling me this is it. I have too many others to do a sequel to this so please don't ask for one. Depending on what happens in this chapter… which I don't know because my muse likes to leave me in the dark… There should only be this chapter. Maybe a little note after.
I want to thank everyone who has stayed with me these last …what is it? Five or six months? Anyway, thank you for all the reviews and please keep it up right through to the end. If you are interested in my writing style, you can read any of my other stories, which are all under my penname. There are a few, including a trilogy of which I have over half of the second part out, and a few others. I plan to have a new one come out when this one is finished, called Go The Distance. I would like to ask you all to please check for it when I am finished with this one. It's an AU Sess/Kag fic. Thank you. You have no idea what each and every one of those reviews mean to me.
Chapter 13
Kagome was so exulted, so happy. She returned Sesshoumaru's kisses with fervor, loving the way their bodies felt against each other in the warm water. It hadn't taken them long to get undressed and into the luke-warm water. Now Kagome was leaning against the bank with Sesshoumaru's body above hers, melted into her. His hands were making her feel amazing, his lips doing an even better job. When he took her nipple in his mouth she threw her head back and moaned in wild abandon. It was driving her over the edge quicker than she would have imagined and she didn't want to wait any longer. She bent her head and sucked on his earlobe, knowing it drove him crazy. His fangs grazed her nipple, breaking the skin a little, but she could not feel any pain, only intense pleasure. She reached down and took his fullness into her hands and stroked it, feeling him jump in her hands and his body shudder against hers. He was breathing just as heavily and erotically as she was.
She parted her legs more and felt him lift her up higher on the embankment. She guided him into her tight passage and closed her eyes in pure bliss as he filled her. The friction of his flesh was too much to bear and soon she was thrusting with him, trying to bury him even deeper into her body. Again and again he thrust into her, and she rose up to meet him every time. She felt as though she was about to explode, pleasurably, and she could feel a drive to do… Something. It suddenly occurred to her what and just as her orgasm was about to hit she sank her blunt teeth into the junction on his neck. She felt him do that same to her mark, reopening his mark upon her. Her orgasm exploded upon her with such force she was momentarily blinded by it. It was redoubled when his hit, spilling his seed into her. She convulsed against him while he thrust into her a final time before collapsing against her, trembling.
Kagome licked the blood off her teeth and found the metallic taste to be sweeter than she had expected. It made her thirsty for more so she licked up the little bit of blood on his shoulder as the wound closed quickly but the mark remained. She stared at it wondrously for many moments, finding it hard to believe she had done it.
`Yes, you did it. It will be there as long as we both live.' He said clearly. She jumped at his voice and turned to look at him surprised. He was almost grinning, his lips twitching. `I told you our bond would be stronger.' He said silently. She smiled happily and kissed him again, this time just out of happiness.
After a few moments he finally pulled out of her and picked her up, making her squeal in surprise. He carried her out of the water and set her on her feet only long enough to wrap her robe around her and put his on. Then he swung her back into his arms in spite of her complaining and shut her up by licking the mark on her neck. She wasn't silenced totally however.
`Oh my, Sesshoumaru, what are you, ah, doing?' She asked him. He stopped his trek back into the castle to look into her eyes, making her want to protest his stopping the assault on her neck, but glad because she was going to get a straight answer finally.
`We are going back inside to spend the rest of the evening continuing what just happened in the hot springs.' He told her. She blushed and stammered out loud.
"A, Again? The rest of the evening and tonight? I… um…" She didn't see how she would last that long. But his teeth grazing her mark completely stopped her stammering.
"Yes, though the rest of the night shall go a bit more slowly. I believe I still owe you…" he said, his voice full of innuendo. Kagome could do nothing but clutch at him while he continued driving her crazy while they headed inside and he set her on the bed.

Miroku moved deftly to the side just as Jax's sword would have hit him. He used his staff to knock the over-confident youkai off his feet and prepared to close in closer to him to point his staff at the youkai's neck, effectively defeating him. But Jax, who now had gotten an idea of his opponent's strength, had not fallen completely and getting over his surprise, leapt to the side and back. Once he was a good 15 feet from Miroku, he grinned in surprise.
"It seems I'm not going to be able to go as easy on you as I though. I'll be beaten by a human." He joked. Miroku grinned back, but his face was still pretty serious, as he was fighting.
"Yes. Well when you make a living out of chasing a strong demon in order to stay alive, you have to be accustomed to fighting other demons that he sends at you to throw you off as well." He charged at the now prepared Jax who jumped to the side and brought his sword down, only to find it blocked by Miroku's staff. The monk was really good for a human. He tried another approach and another, trying to get past his staff, but again and again Miroku blocked it. He nodded in approval, but with his mind only half on fighting he found himself once again in a vulnerable situation as Miroku twisted his sword out of grasp. Only his youkai speed saved him as the sacred staff came at him. He ducked away from the staff and raced over to where his sword was still falling and managed to catch it before it hit the ground. Miroku spun around to face him, but the monk's eyes slipped past him. Jax sent out his senses and felt the presences of his mate and Sango, both watching him and Miroku.
"Very good. Very good indeed." He lowered his sword to let Miroku know he wasn't attacking him and walked casually up to him. His grin was as ever plastered on his face. "Your move very quickly for a human. Much like Sango." He threw her a look over his shoulder and saw her blush. "I do not wish you to make an even bigger fool of me so I ask for a continuation at a later date, if that is alright with you." Miroku had lowered his staff from its defensive position and now he held it upright, resting his arm on it.
"You were holding back." He grinned.
"Indeed, well, I did not want to fry you." Jax said, gesturing to his lightening sword. Miroku nodded his thanks and acceptance of the proposition.
Jax turned and appeared next to the two women, his charm renewed.
"Sango! I should like to see how your skill has improved. Can I tempt you to a short spar?" He asked jovially. She pursed her lips and gave him a look.
"Well, why not? But I'm warning you to be prepared." She quickly slipped out of her clothes that covered her exterminator's outfit and then picked up her boomerang and headed out to the middle of the dojo. She got into her stance and faced Jax, who stood on the other side of the arena. He drew his sword, signaling the beginning of the spar. He started at her and she positioned her feet far apart and heaved her boomerang. Jax jumped back a little to avoid it and smirked.
"Is that all? I expected…" What he didn't expect was the boomerangs return path, and to be right in it. It smacked him hard in the back and sent him forward a few feet before he managed to throw himself away from it. He landed on the ground hard just as Sango caught Haraikotsu, sliding back a few feet. She swung it over her back and ran toward where Jax was lying still on the ground. Riasha and Miroku were also rushing toward him and she fell to her knees just as they reached him. Riasha knelt next to him and picked up his head, slapping his cheek.
"Jax, Jax wake up." She demanded. Her tone was not too worried, like she had seen it before. "Jax…" His eyelids fluttered and finally opened. He groaned in obvious pain while Sango hovered over him.
"Jax, I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" He groaned dramatically in response and Riasha chuckled.
"Serves you right. I keep telling you not to under-estimate you human or half-human opponents." She was smiling and Sango could not quite return it. Was he okay? That hit looked like it had broken his spine! Plus it could have ruptured any one of his organs…
"He'll be fine, stop worrying." Riasha told her. Sango started, before realizing that Riasha could feel what she was feeling. Miroku stepped closer and bent next to the other three.
"We should get him to a healer. He may have some damage." He suggested. Riasha smiled at him.
"No need." She placed his head carefully on the floor while he winced from being moved. "Oh stop being such a baby." She teased him and shuffled to beside his stomach. Sango wanted to insist to her that Jax go see a healer of some sort, but she closed her mouth as Riasha put her hands on him. Her whole body started to glow a pinkish purple and then the glow engulfed Jax too. Sango had to shade her eyes against the bright light and then suddenly, it was gone. Jax opened his eyes slowly and blinked a few times. Riasha stood up and offered him her hand, implying him to get up. He took her hand and got to his feet rather easily considering just a moment ago he had most likely been partially paralyzed. He rubbed his head and winced when he was standing unassisted.
"Ah, Ria, couldn't you have healed that too?" He complained, rubbing the side of his head where there was an obvious bump. She gave him a glower and he grinned sheepishly.
"I think you deserve it. Maybe next time you go and say something right in the middle of a fight you'll stop yourself with thought of this headache. It'll be a little memento of your idiocy." She said harshly. Then she softened. "You are so stupid sometimes!" She said softly. She walked close to him and lovingly touched the bump on his head. He childishly complained and she gently ran her fingers over it, a small amount of light emitting from her careful fingers. He sighed in bliss as she took his headache away and then opened his eyes to look fondly down at her. Miroku and Sango were too shocked to do anything but stand there. Finally Jax turned around and grinned at Sango.
"It's a new record. Riasha got me out in the first 30 seconds. I think Sango got me in 10." He said. Sango gave him a look and Miroku laughed. Riasha lifted her eyebrows and shook her head.
"Yes, well, if it wasn't for me, you'd probably have died that first time. Scared the shit out of me." She shot him a look. Sango was all curiosity.
"And?" She asked. Jax looked as though he wanted to be anywhere but here, but being the way he was he explained in his good-natured way.
"I wanted to have a little spar with Riasha. She told me from the beginning to hold nothing back, but I of course did not take her seriously, since she was only half demon. Well, She proved to me that I should never under-estimate an opponent. It was a lesson I shall never forget." He said dramatically, clutching his heart. Riasha lifted a brow.
"You seemed very forgetful a moment ago." She accused. He blushed.
"Yes, well, Sango can't exactly throw energy blasts at me." He said defensively.
"Yes, well she did throw something at you." Riasha said, meaning it both literally and figuratively. Sango chuckled and Jax did too, though it was self-depreciating.
"We should get you back to our room, to cleanup, you stinky pig. I simply cannot believe you wore your new kimono sparring." Riasha said in her motherly tone. Miroku was grinning as Riasha lead Jax out of the dojo. They turned back at the entrance.
"We'll see you guys later. Have fun." Jax said, his voice hinting at something more. Riasha's smile seconded it and caused both Miroku and Sango to blush and look everywhere but at each other. Before either of them could think of something to say to each other, Jax popped back in.
"By the way, you guys are going to have to share a room. With all the stuff going on, there's only one available room in the East wing." He disappeared before either of them could react. This time when they looked at each other, their eyes held and Miroku grinned mischievously.
"Perhaps we should also retire for the night, eh love?" He held out his arm but Sango refrained from taking it.
"Love?" She said, her eyebrows raised.
"Why yes, dearest Sango. Jax told me everything, which he was told by Riasha. Now, shall we retire?" He was grinning from ear to ear. Sango blushed but managed to take his arm and be escorted to their shared room.
~**~
Riasha burst out laughing.
"You told them what?" She said, trying to stop from laughing too loudly.
"Ah yes. I just emitted the little tidbit that sadly enough, there were not other rooms available and they would have to share one." He said, unable to keep from grinning. Riasha let out another laugh and shook her head.
"I believe you are starting to enjoy yourself with my little game as much as I do." She accused. He shrugged his shoulders.
"Really, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about." He claimed. They both were chuckling as they reached their rooms and entered for their night spent, though there would be little sleeping.

Eh, Nope! Not quite the end! Just a little after info…

Kagome and Sesshoumaru lived happily ever after… NOT! Oh no, it didn't go that easy. Poor Sesshoumaru had to deal with all of her human companions, whom she wanted to visit, but for some odd reason they never visited again. Kagome always wondered about that…
Eventually Kagome convinced Sesshoumaru that it was VERY important that she complete the jewel. With his help, the jewel was completed and returned to Kagome's body. She retained some powers from it, including a much longer life span and the ability to heal her own wounds, almost as well as any youkai.
They did not defeat Naraku alone though. After Inuyasha left the castle he quickly found Kikyou and she agreed to help him find the jewel shards so they could defeat Naraku together. She also helped to kill Naraku, one of her arrows shattering Kanna's mirror completely, as well as killing the spawn of Naraku. Kagura actually at last minute turned on Naraku and despite the intense pain she must have been going through, refused to fight them. She died along with Naraku, an unfortunate side effect of being born of him. They were all grateful to her, she could have been their downfall.
Sadly, after the jewel was completed, the other part of the deal where Inuyasha went to hell with Kikyou never happened. When Kagome was fusing the jewel, somehow the power in the jewel required ALL of her soul, which left Kikyou lifeless. Her clay body had disintegrated on the spot.
Sango and Miroku admitted their love for each other the very night that Sesshoumaru and Kagome's bond was completed. Miroku's hand closed up and all was well there. Kohaku died from having to remove the jewel, but Sango has since made her peace with it. They are now happily married with a child of their own… Kitaro, who is already showing his colors by terrorizing the females in the village. Sango also had another child, recently actually. A girl named Mareka, now a year old.
Rin had shown an interest in learning how to fight, and though Sesshoumaru believed he could have taught her just as well, sent her to Sango learn. She is now in her early twenties and is becoming very talented in fighting. Learning from both Sango and Miroku, how could she not?
After the battle Inuyasha made his peace with Kagome and is now on friendly terms with her, and is even once in a while able to talk to Sesshoumaru cordially. Recently Inuyasha has been taking off for days at a time though and has been mysterious about where he is…
~**~ Fifteen years after Sesshoumaru and Kagome were formally mated…
"God Damn it! He's been gone for almost a whole month this time, and he hasn't even stopped to tell us if he's doing something! What is he up to? What if he's hurt?" Kagome ranted in Sesshoumaru's ear. He sighed complacently.
"Relax. Inuyasha will tell us when he's ready. He's always been a little wild, he comes and goes as he likes." He told her. She turned to face him, knowing there was something else to it, after all, they could still keep things from each other, but it was very hard. She gave him a piercing look, but the master of guises was not giving an inch. Finally she blew a frustrated sigh.
"What's wrong, Mum?" A teenage youkai asked her, walking into the tense atmosphere and feeling her anxiety. He had silvery blue hair, and sapphire eyes that were most definitely Kagome's. Instead of being a hanyou, he was a full-blooded demon, thanks to the jewel, all of their offspring was fated to be full-blooded. He was quickly catching up to Sesshoumaru in height; already he was a good six inches taller than her. He was always gentle with her, and never gave her any real trouble, most likely because he knew his father would have his hide if he did.
She reached up and wiped his bangs lovingly off his forehead. "Nothing, sweetie. I'm just worried about Inuyasha." It was nothing new to him; he'd heard her complain more times than he'd like to count.
"Kuran, would you assemble a search party? We are going to search for your uncle." Sesshoumaru told his son. Kuran nodded proudly at being asked to do something so important. Another few years and he would hit the age where he would stop aging all together. Kuran left, his back straight, his face now as masked as his own father's. Kagome shook her head, smiling at his silliness. He tried to be like his father in every way, except his mask slipped more often than not. She knew eventually he would get it down, but he would never be as bad as Sesshoumaru had been, for the simple fact he had never known Sesshoumaru like she had.
"I wanna come and wook for Uncle Iyu!" A little girl came running in full tilt, her thumb in her mouth. She ran right into Sesshoumaru, who in a rare moment smiled and lifted her right up. She was the weakness to his heart; she could always make the great demon lord smile. Her eyes were golden amber, exactly like his, but her hair was the same silvery blue as her brothers. Of course, all of both of their offspring had the red lines on the wrists and face, as well as the blue crescent moon upon their foreheads. The little five-year-old girl looked pleadingly into her father's eyes, pouting.
"Pwease!!!!" She asked, her eyes wide with hope. Sesshoumaru looked so weak when he was faced with his little girl. She could make him go soft in front of all the other Lords, without so much as a little regret.
"I don't see why not, Sari." He told her. She brightened from her pouting and wrapped her arms around him. She kissed him on the cheek.
"Fank-ooo!! She said through her kiss. He picked her up and set her on the ground, but she would have none of it. She vaulted back up and grabbed around his neck when he stood upright. This earned her a little chuckle.
"See? Wook! Sari can jump now! Just wike Daddy!" She squealed when he took a hold of her and threw her into the air.
"Sesshoumaru! How many times have I said not to do that! One of these days she's going to decide she can land without you and not come down straight! EEP!" Kagome screamed, because that's exactly what Sari did. Having just gained control of her speed, she launched herself mid-air in the other direction, across the courtyard. Sesshoumaru was gone the next second and caught her moments before she would have hit the earth. Instead of scolding her he was grinning ear-to-ear.
"Dear, did you see that? Did you see how far she went! She is learning how to control herself so quickly!" He was ecstatic. Kagome was not.
"WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT THAT!! DIDN'T I TELL YOU THAT WOULD HAPPEN?!?" She yelled at him. Sesshoumaru sighed and shook his head.
"I would never let anything happen to her, you know that. I will always make sure nothing ever happens to any of you." He was making the same promise he had made time and time again, and he had always proved to keep it. She could do nothing but soften as his eyes turned on her with his love now openly showing through. Oh, how he had changed over the last 15 years. Sometimes she wondered if she had mated the same youkai.
Kuran came out of the castle, standing as tall as possible the moment he saw his father. Sesshoumaru set the wiggling Sari down and slapped her butt lightly to send her off to play.
"I have the search party set, father. Your friends the monk and the youkai exterminator are here." He said formally. Then he turned to Kagome and kept looking from one to there other as he talked, his formality gone now.
"Sango said that she was here to ask if you guys had heard from Inuyasha at all. Miroku said that they hadn't seen him in a while either, at least three months. They have Rin babysitting their littlest and keeping an eye on Kitaro. I told them about our search party and they both insisted that they come too." He said anxiously. Kagome thought a moment.
"So no one has seen Inuyasha for the last few months, no one at all. This could be bad." She bit her lip.
"You did well, Kuran. We will head out soon, and you will be leading the party headed north. When you reach Lord Jax's castle, please be sure to ask him if he knows anything about Inuyasha's disappearance and give him our regards. You may get started as soon as you are ready."
"Yes Father." He stood straight again and swelled with pride. He spun around and headed back into the castle, going quite quickly in his youthful exuberance to prove himself once again.
"Now, we should go." He said. He left to find the rest of his searching parties and directed them in the directions they would be going. One would search the Eastern lands for some hint of his half-brother, there other would search the South.
Kagome went to greet and talk to Sango and Miroku. They weren't talking long before Sesshoumaru came in and waited until they were paying attention.
"The four of us will search the Western Lands thoroughly for any hint of Inuyasha." He turned to Sango and Miroku. "I will be the means of transportation because all three of you cannot run very fast." He found his little girl whom he had told could go with him was left out of his plans. She was playing in the yard, racing around the yard rather faster than Kagome would like, but she, then again, was not demon.
"Sari," he called. She was there in an instant, smiling up at him.
"Yes Daddy?" She asked in her sweet little voice. He almost, almost changed his mind and brought her with him, but Kagome would never allow it.
"Sari, you get to go to see Aunt Rin today." He told her, trying to make her forget his promise. No such luck.
"But Daddy! You said I could go~o~o!" She cried plaintively. Kagome took over.
"But sweetie, Auntie Rin hasn't seen you in sooo long, she misses you so much! She'll be so sad if you don't go! Don't you wanna go and see Auntie Rin?" She said. Sari sniffed a few times, but nodded.
"I wanna go and find Uncle Iyu too doe." She said mournfully. "Sari hasn't seen Uncle Iyu in a long time eaver." She pouted. Kagome smiled at her daughter. Sari was too used to getting her way.
"Yes but honey… we can't bring you because the monsters will eat you up! Then you won't be able to see Uncle Inu or Aunt Rin! And that wouldn't work, would it?" Kagome gave a last ditch effort to get her to cooperate. Finally the little girl grinned.
"Can I see Uncle Iyu after you find him?" She asked.
"Of course, but right now, we have to bring you to Auntie Rin's, okay?"
"OKAY!" She yelled and proceeded to hop onto her father's back. She clung tightly to his boa, the only person besides Kagome who ever dared to touch it. A cloud formed at their feet and Sari laughed in delight when they were lifted into the air and swept away. Sango and Miroku both looked nervous, this was a first for them. Kagome was used to it by now and made small talk with the two nervous occupants. Finally Sango calmed a bit and remembered something she had wanted to tell Sesshoumaru.
"Ah, Lord Sesshoumaru?" he turned to her and she tried to not be intimidated. Despite 15 years and him being Kagome's mate, he was still Lord of the West.
"Yes?" he prompted when she said nothing.
"Ah, yes. Rin. She's been acting funny lately." She said carefully. Sesshoumaru seemed to go on edge. Rin was another one of his soft spots, after all.
"How so?" he asked coolly.
"She has been sneaking around a lot and being kind of secretive. One day she came back and had a bruise on her arm. We asked her about it, and she mumbled something about slipping on some rocks and falling. I personally didn't believe it." She told them.
"Yes," Miroku agreed. "She has been different lately." He thought he knew what it was, but he wanted to be sure before he announced it out loud.
Sesshoumaru said nothing, but Kagome could tell it bothered him. Why would Rin be acting so strange? It wasn't like she was at that age anymore, no, she was well past it! So what could be making Rin act this way?
Kagome was surprised when Sesshoumaru set them down a good ways from the village Sango and Miroku lived in, the old Exterminators village. No one questioned him and even Sari was strangely silent. They seemed to be tiptoeing; she could tell even her light-footed youkai mate was being extra quiet. She wasn't sure why, but Miroku and Sango took the hint and stayed as silent as possible as well. A clearing could be seen coming into view and a flash of red caught her eye.
`Could that be?' She thought.
`It is.' Sesshoumaru replied in her head. Kagome wanted to rush forward and start scolding the pain-in-the-ass right away, but Sesshoumaru stopped her.
`Wait, lets see what he's doing here.' He requested firmly. She did as he asked and snuck closer. Looking over at Sango and Miroku's faces proved that their knowledge was the same, it was Inuyasha in that clearing, but why? Finally they stopped and peered from behind a bush, a perfect view of the clearing in that spot.
Inuyasha stood in the middle of it, but he was not alone… Rin! Rin was with him! They were both sitting peaceably on the grass, looking deeply into each other's eyes. Kagome smiled, truly happy to see her long-time friend finally moving on. She felt Sesshoumaru suppress a growl and held back a giggle. Sesshoumaru was a little protective of Rin, but who better could he ask to take care of his little girl than Inuyasha? The more she watched and thought about it, the more she liked the idea. Inuyasha had that lost look in his eyes, the same look he used to save for Kikyou and in rare times herself. He reached up to wipe a strand of hair gently off her face, and Kagome decided they had better leave. She told Sesshoumaru, who was reluctant, but finally agreed. Sango and Miroku were both grinning ridiculously when she looked at them. Sari was still quiet, but her little face was glowing with knowledge her clever mind had devised. Once out of hearing range she let a little laugh of delight come from her lips.
"Mommy, Daddy, is Uncle Iyu and Auntie Rin going to be mated?" She giggled. Kagome smiled but shook her head.
"Sari, you mustn't say anything about this, okay? Otherwise Uncle Inu will lie and say it never happened. But I do believe Rin and Inuyasha like each other a lot." She chuckled. She could feel Sesshoumaru softening at the idea, and finally he grunted a little agreement with what she had stated. He would get over it; he even could be accused of liking his brother now.
Kagome flew in her happy cloud as they rose in a real cloud and flew back into the air and towards the Demon Exterminator village to drop Miroku and Sango off. After that they headed back to their own castle, Kagome happily snuggled in her mates arms, her own arms full of her now sleeping child. The smart girl had been very understanding of not being able to see her Aunt or Uncle for another few days, presuming much for one her age. Kagome had never been happier in her life, everything was now complete. Sango and Miroku were happy, they had the best of friends and supporters to their north, Inuyasha was finally happy, and most of all Kagome did not feel badly for what she had had to do to him. She felt freer, and so warm and light…
Her head fell against Sesshoumaru's chest, who in another rare moment, smiled down at his two little females in his life, his other offspring enough to make any youkai proud. He lovingly brushed their hair off their faces, kissing each of them on the tip of their noses. Then he began to do the usual calculations of what needed to be done when he returned. Messengers would be sent out, the castle cleaned, a summons sent to Inuyasha now that they could find him…
And everything seemed to have worked out wonderfully. Everything was great, even with all of the duties at his castle, it was miniscule, and totally worth it all. Maybe his brother would start acting more like a proper youkai now…
He severely doubted it.
