Just a Note to Say…..

Unlovable Creature

Chapter 10

"Do you think she's alright?"

"I don't know. Inuyasha got her."

"Miroku, I'm worried. What if she's hurt?"

Miroku shrugged and leaned against the hallway wall. Hundreds of students were crowded outside Kagome and Rin's room. Teachers were keeping them away from the door.

Miroku put a comforting arm around Sango's shoulders.

"Try not to think of it that way, Sango. Inuyasha broke through the glass to save her. I know he wouldn't do anything purposeful to hurt her."

Sango nodded but still looked unconvinced.

"But why would someone want to kill Kagome?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kagome lay motionless on the damp forest grass. There was a deep cut in her stomach and her face was covered in small cuts from the glass and was drenched in sweat. Her arms were limp and pale.

Inuyasha sat beside her, leaning against the tree. His left arm resting against his knee. He shut his eyes and sighed deeply.

`Who was that man? What did he want with Kagome?'

Inuyasha stared at Kagome, how her hair whipped across her face, how pale her face looked.

`Why would some one want to hurt someone as meaningless as Kagome?'

But Inuyasha continued to wonder about that strange man.

The man with the strange black hair, with the evil aura.

`Who is he? What does he want? What would Kagome have that he would want?'

But Inuyasha's attention was diverted when he heard someone call his name. It sounded distant, but close.

He no longer cared if anyone saw his silver hair, or if they saw his dog-like ears. He decided that they can stare all they want. He no longer cared.

"Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha looked up to the woman's voice, luckily he still saw no one.

Inuyasha knew he needed to keep Kagome save. He walked over to Kagome and lifted her up bridal style and he leaped into the tree. He placed Kagome so she wouldn't fall and he jumped back down.

"Who's there?" he called.

A woman with black hair tied loosely and pale skin walked from behind a tree. She had familiar looks to Kagome, and Inuyasha recognized the similarities quickly. The two of them were identical.

"Inuyasha," the woman sighed. Inuyasha stared into her brown eyes. Her eyes full of softness, but sadness.

"Ki-Kikyo," Inuyasha said with shock. "Why are you surprised to see me, Inuyasha?" Inuyasha looked at Kikyo with wide eyes.

He hadn't seen her for years and years. He never saw her again because of the---

"Why are you here, Kikyo? I thought you were the protector of the Shikon no Tama!" Kikyo glared at Inuyasha. "Keep your voice lowered, Inuyasha!" she snapped. Inuyasha grimaced at the sharpness in her voice.

"I was the protector. But I sent you the jewel since I…had my misfortunes." Inuyasha raised his eyebrows, "What do you mean?" "It's nothing you should be concerned with. But yes, I was the protector." "What do you mean `WAS'?" Inuyasha roared.

"Do stop, Inuyasha," Kikyo said calmly. "I had the jewel. I took the shards from you because I knew you weren't safe."

Inuyasha widened his eyes. "So YOU took them from my room! What for!?! They were safe where they were!" "No, Inuyasha, they weren't safe with you. People are beginning to realize you are hanyou. So they would eventually find out that you would seek or have shards of the Shikon no Tama."

Inuyasha sat back down and leaned against the tree he placed Kagome in.

"So you do have them. They're safe then," Inuyasha sighed as he folded his arms across his chest.

"No, I don't have them, but they are safe." "If you don't have them, who does!?!"

"Your friend does. Kagome."

"Kagome? She has the jewel shards!?!" Kikyo nodded and sat beside Inuyasha.

Inuyasha rested his head against the trunk of the tree.

"Why would Kagome have them?" Inuyasha muttered.

"Do you not know, Inuyasha? Do you not know what happened to me?"

Inuyasha looked at Kikyo with a look of confusion in his eye.

Kikyo sighed, "Kagome, is my reincarnation, Inuyasha."

Inuyasha shook his head, "That's not possible. For Kagome to be your reincarnation, you must be…"

"Dead,"

Kikyo finished for Inuyasha. "And I am. I was killed. I was deceived by a man named Onigumo. He killed me to steal the jewel. But I sent it to you in time so he wouldn't obtain it. But unluckily, when I sent it to you, it was shattered."

Inuyasha stared at the ground.

"Don't look so upset, Inuyasha," Kikyo said calmly.

"I'm confused, not upset," he said, but with softness. "How can you still be here?" "The jewel was shattered and Onigumo obtained several of the shards. He embedded three in my forehead to keep me alive. I was to come alive again to help him collect the shards. But I now have refused to help him. He knows now that Kagome has eight shards of the Shikon no Tama."

"Kagome doesn't know anything about this though. Where does she keep the shards? She doesn't know about the jewel, or Onigumo. She may know I am hanyou, but that's all she knows!"

"Her shards are embedded in the thing she cherishes most. In her deepest love. And even though she may not know now, she will eventually."

"Why have you refused to help this Onigumo guy? Won't he take away the shard?" "Shards," Kikyo corrected, "there are three embedded in my forehead." "Whatever, won't you die and never come back if he takes them away?" Kikyo nodded. "Then won't he take them back if you don't help him?" She nodded once more. "Then why do you refuse to help him!?! You'll die again if you don't!!" Kikyo looked away from Inuyasha's glance.

"Do you not know? Do you not realize why I did not help him hurt the girl? He knows you have a soft spot for this girl, Inuyasha. So he will go after her. To hurt you."

Inuyasha looked away, "I don't care for Kagome. She happens to be friends with Miroku."

Kikyo nodded, "So Miroku is here as well, is he? Of course he'd be." Inuyasha continued to look away.

"You're not helping him, because he wants to hurt me."

Kikyo nodded and stood up.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kagome lay on the branch, in the tree. Her hair was blowing in the breeze and she slowly, very slowly, regained consciousness.

Her eyes opened to gaze about the tree. She wondered where she was, until she was swallowed in the pain of her stomach.

"Ow, someone, help me, please," she cried quietly.

Kagome gazed down to see Inuyasha talking to the girl she recognized as Kikyo. The girl Sango said looked identical to her.

Kagome saw how sad Kikyo looked, and she felt sympathy for the poor girl. She also noticed how calm Inuyasha was acting, not like when he was around her.

Kagome sat in the tree and watched and listened, as Kikyo and Inuyasha talked.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Inuyasha followed Kikyo with his eyes.

"Kikyo," Inuyasha began.

"Don't," Kikyo pleaded, "Don't start this, Inuyasha, please! I know we have been over this before. But, I can't help how I feel."

Kikyo held onto a tree to stabilize herself. She didn't want to look into Inuyasha's eyes. She would see too many unwanted memories lingering there.

"I…I still love you, Inuyasha," Kikyo said in a dead whisper.

Not knowing whether he heard her or not.

"I don't care if you still feel something about me, but I don't want to hurt you. Even if you care for another."

"Kikyo, I already told you, I don't love Kagome!"

"You say that, Inuyasha, but I've seen how you look at her. I know you don't care about emotions normally, but I've seen how you react when you're around her. You act angry to stop yourself from being hurt. But you regret yelling at this girl. You care for her, Inuyasha, don't lie to me."

Inuyasha stood up and grabbed Kikyo angrily by the shoulders.

"I don't love Kagome!! I'm telling you the truth! Don't you feed me bullshit, Kikyo. You and I both know she loves that asshole Kouga. She doesn't love me, and I don't love her. She's not my type of girl."

Kikyo forced herself out of Inuyasha's grasp.

"And what is, Inuyasha? What exactly is your type!?!"

"Oh, I don't know!!" he cried out, raising his arms in the air. "I don't know exactly my type. But it's not Kagome! She's too wrapped up in her music to give a damn about me! All she does is speak music, and sing music, and play music, everything to that girl is MUSIC!!"

"But you are the SAME, Inuyasha. Why else would you be in the Musical Talented section? You breath music just as much as that girl."

Inuyasha looked away. "She's just, I dunno, not my type. I don't love her. I don't like her, I don't care about her, got it!!"

"You're different, Inuyasha. You've changed."

"It's been fifty, god damn years!! Of course I've changed!!"

Kikyo looked sadly into Inuyasha's eyes. Tears glassing over.

"You used to love Inuyasha. What about me! You said you said you wanted to be with me! Have you forgotten? Have you turned into your brother!?! How can you act so cold!"

Inuyasha turned around and growled at Kikyo.

"I am nothing like my fucking brother!!!!"

Kikyo turned away from Inuyasha. Her back facing him. Inuyasha was breathing heavily. But, he just couldn't be mad at Kikyo.

Fifty years ago……………he loved her.

"Kikyo, I'm sorry." "I shouldn't be forcing you to answer me, Inuyasha."

Kikyo turned to face Inuyasha, tears were now running down her face.

"What has happened to us Inuyasha? You said you'd want to be with me. That you would turn human for me. And now, we yell at each other over the Shikon no Tama. Fifty years has driven us a part. Even my little sister Kaede has tried to forget about jewel."

"Wait, you mean Kaede the music teacher is your little sister!?!"

Kikyo nodded. "Yes, remember, Inuyasha, it has been fifty years. She has grown older. I am the same since I was killed at this state."

"It's different now, then fifty years ago, Kikyo." "I know," Kikyo cried aggravated, "I know it's different Inuyasha. What has happened? We used to love, we used to cherish and now fifty years later, it's gone."

"Kikyo, fifty years has changed who we both are. I've thought about you and the jewel for so long. I've wanted to be youkai for even longer though. It's just my craving. It's no longer something I want, but something I need."

Kikyo nodded. "So, you will use the jewel then, and turn youkai."

Inuyasha nodded.

"Listen to me, Inuyasha. Kagome has the shards. She will collect them. You are going to help her, aren't you? Because I know, you do care. You're not cold, Inuyasha. You just never think with your heart."

"Stop bringing up Kagome! I don't love that stupid girl. She's meaningless to me! I don't give a shit about her, I don't care about her at all!!"

"Then why did you save her?" Kikyo shot back at him.

Inuyasha looked away from Kikyo, he looked away from the eyes that made him feel uncomfortable.

`Do I still love Kikyo?'

`Do I really care about Kagome?'

`NO! I don't care about Kagome! But, I don't know whether I love Kikyo or not.'

Inuyasha leaned against the tree with Kagome in it.

"She's just a stupid girl, getting herself into trouble. She's nothing important. I saved her so she wouldn't have to die a humiliating death."

"Is that how you feel about me!?!"

Inuyasha looked up into the watery eyes of Kagome. She was propped up against the trunk. Her face was pale, her cheeks were wet, and her eyes were red.

"Is that how you feel about me, Inuyasha? I'm just a stupid, meaningless girl?"

Inuyasha began to feel guilty. How could he have let himself say such horrible things about Kagome. He shouldn't have gone that far. But it was too late now.

"Why do you act like this? You help me, you even saved my life, yet you say such mean things about me. Why?"

Kagome was crying even harder now.

She tried to move to get out of the tree. But no matter how much she moved, she felt shooting pain in her stomach.

Kagome fidgeted and began to lose her balance. She was toppling over to the right. Kagome began to fall. She shut her eyes, waiting to feel the contact of the ground, but it never came.

She opened eyes to see the face of Inuyasha looking at her.

He had caught her.

"Put me down," Kagome said calmly. Inuyasha did as she said and Kagome began to walk away.

But as she took a step, she fell to her knees grasping her stomach.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha cried. He sprinted to her side and held out his hands, showing her that he wanted to help her.

"I'm fine, just leave, me, alone," Kagome said between gasps.

"Let me take you back to your dorm."

Kagome held out her hands to keep him away from her. "I said I'm fine," Kagome stood up, still clutching her stomach, "go away. Go with your girlfriend."

Kagome looked to see if Kikyo was still around, but she was gone. Kikyo was out of the forest, no where to be seen.

"Inuyasha, I already said leave me alone. Please, just go away and leave me alone." Kagome began to walk away, leaving Inuyasha standing there. And she saw Kouga sitting on the bench closest to her room. He was sitting with his leg crossed over the other and his arm leaned back on the bench.

Kagome began to walk towards Kouga. She clutched her side as she walked.

"Kouga," Kagome said in a whisper.

As if he heard her, Kouga looked in Kagome's direction. He saw her holding her side and he got up and ran towards her.

"Oh my God! Kagome, are you alright?" Kagome shook her head,

"It hurts pretty bad."

Kouga picked Kagome up bridal style and began walking towards the school. "What happened to you?" Kagome sighed and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I was attacked, by a man with black hair. Do you know him?" Kouga didn't look at Kagome, "I know a lot of guys with black hair."

Kagome smiled, "Of course, almost everyone has black hair." Kouga smiled, but then his face turned serious once again.

"I was really worried about you. When I saw your balcony in the parking lot with the glass shattered I was concerned that you were hurt. And now that I know you are hurt, I feel responsible." Kagome scrunched up her nose.

"What! Why would you be responsible for this?"

Kouga opened the door to the school and began walking down the hallway, ignoring the looks on people's faces when they saw him carrying Kagome.

"Because it happened right after I left. If I stayed a little longer, I might have been able to save you, instead of Dog Breath."

"You mean Inuyasha?"

Kouga nodded, "Yeah."

"You know he's a hanyou?"

Kouga nodded again.

"I'm a youkai Kagome," Kouga said unexpectedly. "You are?" Kagome said surprised.

"Yeah, you don't hate me now, do you?"

Kagome chuckled, "Why would I hate you?" "Well, most people are scared of youkai, I just thought you might be too." "If I'm not scared of Inuyasha, I'm definitely not scared of you!"

Kouga smiled and kissed Kagome on the cheek. "Good to know. How you feeling now?" Kagome tilted her head from left to right. "A little queasy and sore, but ok, I guess." Kouga nodded.

He took Kagome to the office and put her down the bench.

"Do you want me to go?" he asked.

"I'd prefer if you'd stay, if you don't mind." Kouga smiled happily and sat beside Kagome on the bench and leaned over to kiss her fully on the mouth. He gently licked her lips with his tongue and smiled when he saw her blush. He moved away and stared into her gorgeous brown eyes.

"Don't mind at all."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The crowd had shrunk and there were only about eleven people, including Miroku and Sango.

Sango had grown tired due to having to sit there with nothing to do and had fallen asleep. She had shut her eyes and rested her head on Miroku's shoulder. Miroku jumped slightly when he felt something touch his shoulder, but he was thrilled to find it to be Sango's head.

He found it very difficult to keep his hands to "himself" when Sango was asleep and leaning on him. But he was a good boy and kept his hands resting on his thighs.

Miroku began to grow tired himself, so he leaned his head on top of Sango's and shut his eyes once the lovely scent of her hair had reached his nostrils.

Miroku sighed happily and smiled as he began to relax.

Even though Miroku felt horribly sorry and bad for Kagome, he was kind of glad that this event had brought him and Sango together. Even though it was on the account on one of his friends to almost getting killed.

Sango opened her eyes and sighed. She felt better now, but she still felt a knot of worry in her stomach over Kagome.

A sweet scent of cologne filled her nose and made her smile. She looked around and when she tried to lift her head, she felt a heavy weight stopping her.

Sango then realized that she had fallen asleep on Miroku's shoulder, and now, he was asleep.

`Great, so am I gonna have to stay like this!?!'

"Miroku," Sango whispered.

Miroku just gave a little moan and continued in his slumber.

`Ya know, he does look really cute and peaceful when he's asleep. Oh, my, God. I think I'm falling for the pervert! What's wrong with me!?! But, he is really hot. God, what am I thinking!?!'

"Sango………beautiful……" Miroku moaned in his sleep.

Sango blushed deeply.

`He's dreaming about me.'

Sango smiled but continued to blush. She shuffled closer to Miroku to feel the warmth of his body. She felt cold because of the air conditioning and she was glad when she felt the warmth of Miroku.

Miroku began to move and Sango stayed still. His arm fell and now was lying across her thigh, near her womanhood.

Sango blushed, but stared at his face closely, making sure he really was asleep. But she found no sign that he was awake, so she just gently moved his hand so it was back on his own lap, and became comfortable once again.

She closed her eyes and began to think of her friends, and the good times they've shared. She thought about Kagome and Kouga, Ayame, Miroku, the strange black-haired man and even Inuyasha. But of everyone, she mostly thought of Miroku.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Inuyasha had had enough of the forest. Enough of the pine smell, enough of the sound of the crunching of leaves underneath his feet and enough of the reminder of what had just happened there.

`Kikyo still loves me,' he thought as he returned to his room.

Inuyasha saw several students around Kagome's room, the door was surrounded by teachers. But Inuyasha just pushed by some of the students standing around. Catching the glances of some of them looking at his hair and ears.

As Inuyasha made it through the last bit of students, he saw Sango and Miroku asleep on the ground, leaning against each other. Sitting awfully close to one another.

He just decided he'd let them stay the way they are. He didn't feel like talking to anyone at the moment.

He opened his dorm room door and slammed it shut, making the glass door rattle in its hinges. He took off his hooded sweatshirt and through it against the wall angrily.

"God damn it!!!!!" he yelled angrily as he stomped to the fridge.

Inuyasha opened the fridge looking for a beer but found the fridge empty except for eggs and some milk.

"Aw, shit!" he yelled.

He walked into his room, kicking piles of jeans and t-shirts out of his way as he made his way to his bed. He sat on it and leaned underneath to get his acoustic guitar.

He grabbed the handle of the case and placed it beside him on his bed. He got up to his dresser and opened up his underwear drawer.

He moved all the socks, boxers and under shirts away from the right side and lifted out a small box. A box about the size of pack of gum and as thick as fifteen sheets of paper.

He opened it up and pulled out a silver key. On the top of the key was a decorated picture of a true dog demon. Inuyasha glared at the demon, threw the box back in the drawer and slammed the drawer shut.

He slid the key into the lock on his guitar case and opened the case. He pulled out his guitar and let the case fall off his lap onto the ground.

He walked out of his bedroom and sat on the couch.

Inuyasha sighed and began to strum notes. He played the scale and played some songs he made up when he was just a kid that he still remembered.

There was a knock on the door and Inuyasha sighed angrily.

"What do you want!?!"

"It's the RA, Inuyasha. You have been asked by Mr. Houkimato to go down to the office now."

"Yeah, well, I'm busy."

"He said it's important."

"I'm busy."

"He said it's urgent."

"I'm busy!"

"Mr. Houkimato's a very busy man."

"Well, so am I!!"

"Get your butt down to that office, Inuyasha!!"

"Make me!! I said `I'm busy'!!"

Inuyasha heard keys jingling and he rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"God damn it!"

The door to Inuyasha's room swung open and Shippo, the RA, stood there with his arms on his hips.

"How the hell did you do that?"

"The RA's have keys to every room on their floor."

"Get the hell outta here!!"

"Go to the office."

"Make me!! Get out!!"

"You have been requested to go to the office!! So get your butt down there!!"

Inuyasha growled at the RA and stood up.

He towered over the RA and glared down and him. The stubborn RA glared right back up at Inuyasha.

"Hey, Shippo," Inuyasha said mockingly.

"What!?!"

"You're village called, they're missing their idiot!"

"You big jerk! Get to the office!!"

Inuyasha growled and punched Shippo on top of his head.

"You big bully!! Hurry up and go!!"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going you stupid kid."

Shippo stuck his tongue out at Inuyasha as he watched him disappear into the elevator.

"He's gonna get it. Maybe one day I'll teach that big bully a lesson. I'll have to summon up all my courage and strength to do so."

"Hey, RA, get your ass over here!! I said if I saw you again, I was gonna beat the shit outta ya!!"

"Ahhh!" Shippo cried as he ran down the hallway away from the large boy.

Inuyasha walked out of the elevator to the office.

"So, you know Inuyasha, do you?"

Inuyasha heard Kagome's voice and he heard her talking about him. He knew it wasn't going to be anything nice, that's for sure.

"Yeah, I know the jerk."

Inuyasha appeared around the corner of the office corridor. And he saw Kagome and Kouga sitting together on the bench outside the office. Talking about him.

"Oh, speak of the devil," Kagome said angrily crossing her arms across her chest.

Kouga turned around to glare angrily at Inuyasha.

"What do you want, Dog Breath?"

"Screw off, Kouga," Inuyasha warned. Kouga smirked and looked at Kagome who didn't even look at Inuyasha.

Inuyasha walked by Kouga and Kagome, and Kouga punched him in the shoulder.

"You hurt my woman again," Kouga threatened.

"You touch me again and you won't have a woman, ever."

Inuyasha began to walk into the office, when Kouga punched him again. Inuyasha growled and picked up Kouga by the collar of his shirt. Kouga raised his hands to punch Inuyasha, but Kagome interfered.

"Kouga, please, don't hit him."

Kouga looked angrily at Kagome.

"I can't believe you're on his side. I thought he hurt you."

"He did," Kagome said solemnly, "but he's not worth our time. He's just a meaningless jerk. So don't hit him. Leave him alone. Even a beating would be too good for him."

Inuyasha flinched at Kagome's words. He never knew that she would be so vicious, but after the way he had treated her, he deserved it, none the less.

Kouga lowered his arms and Inuyasha dropped him and stalked off into the office. Leaving Kagome and Kouga to themselves.

Inuyasha walked up to one of the four secretaries.

"Mr. Houkimato wants to see me."

"You're Inuyasha?" Inuyasha nodded. "He will see you now."

Inuyasha held his hand on the door knob. But before he opened and entered the room, he heard Kouga say:

"I hate the smell of dogs."
