A/N: Hey guys, this chapter explains everything, and if I don't answer one of your questions or confusions, please let me know. But I think I got everything. Some things might be a bit different, but trust me, they all make sense.

Chapter 12

Darkness. Swallowing his anger. Swallowing his hate. Creating shadows against the walls. Filling his heart with the lustful abhorrence.

There he sat. The man sending lives to Hell. Loves to deaths. There he sat. The man in charge of ruining her life. Onigumo.

His long black hair covered the spider burn on his naked back as he sat in navy pants along the wall in the darkness of a basement. There he sat in the obscurity of his own hate as he planned on obtaining the remaining shards. Thirteen. Thirteen shards he needed until he could over power all those who are too weak and stupid to do anything.

Power. That was all he wanted, that was all he needed. The need of power. But yet, the woman. That one woman who was holding him back. Kikyo. That damned miko was stopping him from killing Inuyasha, stopping him from killing Kagome. The bitch was protecting both of them.

He would have to kill them himself. Or. Just get one of his little minions to do it for him. Like the one who is extremely close to the young woman who now holds the eight shards he needs. But where she keeps them? He doesn't know.

"Onigumo, you are sitting in your own Hell, here in the dark," came a voice from the door up the stairs.

"Damn you to misery, to rot in Hell! I am no longer that impudent human, Onigumo. I am Naraku!"

The woman chuckled lowly and walked down the steps and sat before him. "Naraku," she said with no emotion in her voice, or on her face, "You are planning on killing her and Inuyasha?" "Yes," he responded.

"Will you be having him do it?" Naraku smiled, "Yes."

She stood and looked down at him; her face was covered in tears. Her brown eyes brimmed with unshed tears as she descended up the stairs.

"You are nothing but an imitation of spider and bug demons. And I shall kill you before you lay a hand on Inuyasha," she threatened under her voice as she shut the door behind her and leaned against the wall, her hand to her mouth.

`I do not wish to die. But I do not wish to see Inuyasha perish, either. That bastard has trapped me in this plummeting Hell. But I will die either way. I should have let him burn to Hell fifty years ago. He truly deserves it.'

She walked away and back to the college, she needed to warn Inuyasha.

Kagome held onto Inuyasha as she cried and cried. The doors of the elevator had shut a while ago, but she would not let go. And neither would he.

Inuyasha held Kagome against his chest like he would die the second their bodies moved a part.

"I…I thought you were dead," Kagome said into his chest. Inuyasha buried his face in her hair and breathed in her scent deeply. "I thought you were dead too."

Kagome let go and looked up at Inuyasha. His silver hair was draping over her as well as him. She felt safe here in his arms.

She looked into his tawny eyes and saw him gazing back at her.

`I'm gonna have to explain everything to you, Kagome,' Inuyasha thought.

Inuyasha saw a tear that was refusing to fall from Kagome's pink cheek and he swiped it gently with his thumb. Trailing his thumb over her soft face as she continued her gaze upon his face.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" he asked. Kagome smiled slightly and sniffled and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.

"Getting a good look at what I might have lost." Inuyasha blushed.

"Who told you I was dying?" she asked. "Sango. Miroku told you I was dying?" Kagome stifled a laugh and nodded, "Yeah. But why? I mean, why trick us like this?" "I think they wanted us to talk."

"About what?"

"About a lotta things."

Kagome titled her head to the side. "Do you want to go somewhere to talk?" she asked. Inuyasha shook his head and pressed the "Emergency Stop" button on the elevator and they stopped moving.

Inuyasha moved away from Kagome and sat on the floor opposite the door. Kagome sat beside him.

"Did you mean what you said before?" he asked her looking at the floor beside his feet, not wanting to gaze into her eyes. "What did I say?" she asked moving forward so he was looking at her face instead of the ground.

"You said someone you really care about is dying…did you mean that?" Kagome blushed and leaned against the wall beside him and she nodded.

"Well, yeah. I may yell at you Inuyasha, but you still are a dear friend to me."

`He's more then your friend, you idiot!' her mind yelled at her.

`I…I'm only her friend,' Inuyasha thought sadly.

"Look, Kagome, there's a lot that you have to know."

"Just tell me slowly. It's ok." He smiled at her and stared off forward once again.

"50 years ago, there was a miko, her name was Kikyo. And she was protector of a sacred jewel. The -"

"The Shikon no Tama, I know, Miroku told me this already, not like I get it, but he told me about how Kikyo fell in love with you fifty years ago and you wanted to use the jewel to turn human for her. But she was tricked and killed, right?"

"Sort of. She was deceived and killed by a man named, Onigumo."

"Onigumo?" "Yes. Kikyo found a man who was severely burned and she took care of him. But one day, he disappeared."

"Disappeared?" "Yes, he wanted to obtain power, so he had his body eaten by spider and bug demons, and he turned into a hanyou. He changed his appearance to me and went to Kikyo to get the jewel, and he killed her. And she told her sister that if anything were to happen to her, she was to send the jewel to me, so I could protect it."

"So he didn't get the jewel when he killed her?" "No, she kept it hidden in a sacred hut that demons can not enter. And when I left, I promised that I would come back for her as a human. But I never went back. You see, I wanted to use the jewel to turn all demon, but my promise to Kikyo made me have to choose, and I didn't know what to do, so I kept the jewel and never went back."

"Why did you leave?"

"Because my…my father died." "I'm sorry."

"Anyway, but when she sent me the jewel, it was shattered and Onigumo obtained shards, but I did too. But others might have as well."

"So that's what you two were talking about. But she said that I have the shards, and I don't."

"Yes, you do. You see, you are Kikyo's reincarnation. So you can actually see and sense the jewels."

"I don't get it though."

"Ok, when Onigumo killed Kikyo, he realized that he would need her to find all the shards, so he brought her back to life by putting three jewel shards in her forehead. And when Kikyo came back, she knew I had the shards and knew that people were beginning to find out that I was hanyou, so she came and took them away from me and gave them to you, hoping that with you, they would stay save."

"So, Kikyo isn't evil?" "No. She hates Onigumo. He knows that you are Kikyo's reincarnation so he knew that you probably would have some shards. But since you are a resurrection of Kikyo, he knew that I would protect you."

"Protect me?" Kagome asked with a blush, "Why?"

"Because…because I once loved Kikyo, and he knew that I would help you since you are another form of Kikyo. But it's NOT true! I know you now and would protect you in means of being my friend."

"Oh, I see." "Kagome, please don't be upset with me," Inuyasha begged. "I'm not," she responded bluntly.

`Yes you are,' Inuyasha thought miserably.

"Is that all?" she asked.

"And…"

"And what?" she asked looking at Inuyasha plainly; there wasn't any evident expression on her face.

`I thought he really cared about me…but I guess he just thought of me as Kikyo. Since I am her reincarnation.'

"And I think Kouga's working for Onigumo," Inuyasha said matter-of-factly.

"WHAT!?!" Kagome yelled standing up and leaning against the door of the elevator.

"What kind of bullshit is that!?! Why do you hate Kouga so much??"

"There are lots of things I hate about him!!" "Like!?!" "I don't have to tell them to you! But will you just hear me out, I have a reason ya know!"

"Are you jealous?" Kagome asked as she crossed her arms.

"J-jealous!?!" Inuyasha stuttered with a blush. "No! I mean, ugh! I just don't like the bastard!!" Kagome gave Inuyasha a sneer and he sighed, "But it doesn't have anything to do with you! I just don't like him!"

"Ok, first, he's not a bastard! He's really sweet and I really like him!" Inuyasha made a gagging noise in the back of his throat.

"He IS!!! And he would never do anything to hurt me!!"

Inuyasha understood the message loud and clear. She liked Kouga because he was completely unlike Inuyasha.

"And if he does hurt me, which is close to never, it wasn't intentional!!"

`She thinks I would purposely hurt her!?!'

"Y-you don't think I would hurt you purposely, do you…Kagome?"

Kagome looked away, tears brimming her eyes, "Can we get out of the elevator now please?" she muttered.

Inuyasha couldn't believe it. Kagome thought he would purposely hurt her.

`I…I can't believe she thinks that of me!' he thought.

Inuyasha pushed a button to open the doors and Kagome quickly stepped out of the elevator.

Inuyasha ran up behind her and grabbed her arm.

"Wait, Kagome, there's something else!"

She turned around; he could see the unshed tears in her eyes.

`Kagome…'

"Since you're room was destroyed,"

`Great! How can I say this so she doesn't think that I'm the one that came up with this?'

"Mr. H said that, that, since you don't have a room anymore. Well, Rin has gone in a room, and there's only four per room. And, my roommate was expelled and you don't have a room. And…"

"Just spit it out!!"

"If you're not staying off campus then you have to stay in my dorm!!!" Inuyasha shouted, his eyes were shut, but Kagome didn't seem to notice.

"You didn't come up…"

"No!!! Mr. Houkimato said it! You can ask him if you don't believe me!"

"But, I thought girls and boys aren't allowed to share dorms?" "I know, but he'll be having the R.A check on us every hour."

"Even during the night?" Kagome said with a raised eyebrow.

`Stupid!' Inuyasha thought, `I can't believe I didn't think of it!!'

"Hmm, didn't think of that, now did you?" Kagome said spitefully as she walked away.

"Why are you acting like this, Kagome!?!" Inuyasha called after her angrily.

"You hurt me, Inuyasha. Purposefully or not, but you hurt me!" Kagome cried running up the stairs and disappearing from Inuyasha's sight.

"Why does she act like this!?!" Inuyasha raged as he slammed his fist against the wall.

"It's love, Inuyasha," someone answered for him.

Inuyasha turned around and saw Kikyo standing before him in pale jeans with a sleeveless beige shirt with her hair in a ponytail. Her facial features were pale.

"Kikyo, what do you want?"

"I need to tell you something," she said walking towards him, her arms outstretched.

"Don't touch me," Inuyasha seethed as he backed away.

"I…I understand. I just need to tell you that I was wrong about Onigumo. He's strong. Much stronger than what we thought he was. And he calls himself, Naraku."

"Naraku?" "Yes. And I'm sorry, Inuyasha. I didn't mean to ruin things for you and Kagome. She doesn't love Kouga."

"Yes she does!" he spat. "No she doesn't! Don't you see the way she looks at you!?! The way her eyes light up when she looks at you!! You know nothing Inuyasha!!!" Kikyo shouted as she ran from him, but she stopped in the door.

"He knows that you two will probably be sharing a room together, and he's prepared for it," she said, tears welling in her eyes.

"What does that -" "And, Inuyasha," Kikyo interrupted.

"What?"

"I am not a messenger; I will not be running from Naraku to you every time I hear he's planning on killing you and Kagome. I am no longer in the middle. Whatever happens, happens. And even though I may still have you in my heart from fifty years ago, my heart has lost itself in the darkness. And I no longer feel anything. Love nor pain."

Kikyo dashed from the door and disappeared. Inuyasha ran his hand through his hair.

`My life is falling a part,' he thought.

`But Kagome, how can you affect me!! Every damn time I see you cry I want to kill the asshole that made the tears fall. But every time I'm that damn asshole who causes those tears to fall!!!'

`Why can't you just understand that I'm in love you and don't know how to act or respond? Why can't you believe that I don't want to hurt you? Why can't you understand that I would die to protect you? And why can't you understand that I want to be with you so much, that I would change myself to be with you?'

Inuyasha walked back into the elevator and walked into his room and shut the door. And sitting there, on the couch was Miroku.

"You bastard," Inuyasha said with a growl. "You fucking bastard!! You made me believe that Kagome was DEAD!!!"

"And before you pummel me I have something to say that I think you might want to hear."

"What?"

"You know how fifty years ago, Kikyo met my grandfather when he was injured from a fight by a demon?" Inuyasha nodded. "Well, he told her that he was seeking a treacherous demon named Naraku. And that Naraku placed a curse on my grandfather, and if he didn't kill Naraku, the curse would be passed down to every son and that son would have to kill Naraku, or the curse would spread again."

"Yeah, so why are you telling me this?"

"Kikyo cured the curse from my grandfather using her miko powers and he and her were great friends. That's how she knows me."

"Yeah, I know that!! Why are you telling me!?!"

"So that means that he's extremely strong in black magic. Meaning Naraku can cause many dangers, not just physically."

"So?"

"SO!?! That means that he might try to curse Kagome!!! AND YOU SAY `SO!'!?!?!"

Inuyasha's face dropped, "Kagome."
