Curses of the Pale Moon: A Show of Heart
Chapter 13
Inuyasha sat there, worry drowning his facial features,
"Kagome."
He got up and ran out of his room, running down the hallway like a madman, calling her name, demanding for his eyes to lay on her body. Demanding to see her. He needed to see her.
"KAGOME!!!"
Inuyasha slammed past people, pushing them out of his way, ignoring their insults and
cries of anger. "KAGOME!!!"
~*~
Kagome and Sango were sitting on the floor just before the elevator; Kagome had a plain expression on her face, while Sango had a look of sympathy.
"Kagome…I didn't realize that's how you felt…"
"Neither did I, but I don't love Kouga. I can't. I…I think I'm in love with…"
"KAGOME!!!"
Kagome looked up and saw Inuyasha running towards her, pushing violently through the crowd of people on that Sunday.
`Inuyasha!' she thought happily.
`But he hurt me…'
`Shut up and act the way you know you want to!'
"What? What do you want? Why are you screaming my name like that!?!"
Inuyasha ran to her side and kneeled down to her height as she sat on the ground. He was looking into her eyes and he moved closer towards her. His gaze never leaving her eyes. Kagome blushed and looked away, feeling the heat rush through her body just by the gaze he was giving her. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
He didn't answer her, instead he picked her up and hauled her over his shoulder and walked back down the hallway towards his room.
"HEY HEY HEY!!! What are you doing!!!! Put me down! Do you understand me!!! PUT…ME…DOWN!!!!"
"You are staying in my room and that's that! You are not leaving my sight!"
Kagome was furious with the hanyou. But little did she know, this was his way of showing her he cared. He did care, he just didn't know any other ways to let her know.
"WHAT!?! I am NOT!! Now put me down, you hear!!!! PUT ME DOWN!!!!"
"SHUT UP!!!! Stop screaming damn it!!!"
"I can scream if I want too!!!! SANGO!!! SANGO!!! HELP ME, SANGO!!!"
"SHUT UP!!!"
"SAAAAANGO!!!!!!"
Inuyasha was growing annoyed with her screaming, the dinner crowds had returned and they were flooding the hallway, making it difficult for him to move.
"You are staying with me, you got that!!! And you will not leave!! Wench!!"
"SANGO!!! HE'S GONNA RAPE ME, SANGO!!!"
Inuyasha blushed, "Wha-what!!! I-I am not!! This is for your protection!!"
Kagome was about to scream something again but stopped. "My-my protection?" Inuyasha dropped Kagome on her feet and turned around to face her. "Come on! You're slowing me down!!" She nodded and followed him, thankful that she was able to use her own two feet.
As Inuyasha and Kagome rounded a corner, he noticed Miroku lying on his ass in the middle of the hallway.
"What's going on?" Inuyasha asked abruptly. "A man went in your room saying that he was sent by Mr. Houkimato to put something in your room, and I was looking at a magazine and was kicked out," he admitted.
"Pervert," Inuyasha hissed.
"Well, too bad, I guess I'll just have to go back." Kagome turned around and began to walk away when Inuyasha grabbed her arm and spun her back around. "Yeah, right! Get back here!"
Inuyasha swung her at Miroku, "Hold her," he argued.
"My pleasure!"
Miroku reached out for Kagome, but she grabbed onto Inuyasha, holding him around the waist while hiding behind him, her arms appearing on his stomach.
"ARGH!! Don't touch her!!! Damn lecher!!!"
"I DIDN'T!"
Inuyasha undid Kagome's tied hands and turned around and held onto her shoulders. "Don't go anywhere," he said, but not too roughly. She sighed and nodded and Inuyasha walked up to his door and pounded on it.
"Yeeeeeeees?" came from the inside.
"Yeah, I don't know if you realize it, but you're in my room…"
"Yeah, and?"
"And I'm not!"
"Yeah, and?"
"So open up!
"Nope!"
"Yes!!"
"Sorry, can't, busy."
"OPEN THE GOD DAMN DOOR!!!!!!"
"Inuyasha!!" Kagome said pulling him away from the door before he broke it down. "You're gonna break down your own door!" "But the bastard won't let me in!" Kagome sighed in annoyance, "Fine! Let me do it!" Kagome walked up to the door and knocked.
"Yeeeeeeees?"
"Excuse me, but you're in my room," Kagome said and giggled. Inuyasha smacked a hand against his forehead.
"Sorry, Miss, but I can't let you in yet."
"I understand really," she giggled again, "It's just, hmm, you see, well, I went to have a shower, and I forgot my clothes in there, so here I am, standing here in this little ol' towel that could barely only cover my ass," she giggled. "So, dear, sweet, kind, sir, could you please let little old me, into my room…pretty please??"
Miroku was laughing so hard no sound came out. While Inuyasha was blushing.
`Oh my god, I can picture it!! AH!!! I'm getting turned on! Think of cold things, Kagome mud wrestling, NO!! Miroku mud wrestling…IT'S NOT WORKING!!! Miroku mud wrestling with Sesshoumaru! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH'
"AH!" Miroku jumped when he heard Inuyasha give a light scream. "What happened?" he asked. Inuyasha turned to look at him slowly, "You don't want to know."
"So could you let me in, I'm getting awfully cold, I'm real perky, sir," Kagome giggled.
Just then the door opened and an extremely ugly, fat man with a boner appeared in the door.
"Come to me BABY!!" he cried grabbing Kagome in his arms.
"INUYASHA!!" Kagome cried. Inuyasha snatched Kagome from the fat, horny man and kicked his ass down the hallway.
Kagome was in the crook of Inuyasha's arm and she was holding onto his shirt for dear life.
Miroku chuckled, "Dear, Kagome. It seems you wanted to be saved by Inuyasha." Kagome flushed, "Wha-what? No! I-I didn't!!!" "You called for him, not for me. Meaning you wanted him to come and save you. Is it possible that you love him, Kagome?" Kagome's whole face would shame a rose. "You see, you can not answer, meaning…"
Inuyasha sucker-punched Miroku in the jaw and escorted Kagome into his room and slammed and locked the door behind him.
Miroku sat on the floor holding his sore jaw in his hands. "She loves him, he loves her, Inuyasha got the girl," Miroku sung to the tune of "I Love You" by Barney.

Sango stood and had just witnessed one of her friends, kidnapping one of her friends. She was confused. He had appeared, he took her, she screamed at him, she called for her, she said he was going to rape her.
"Ok….what just happened?"
"They wanted some time alone, Sango, my sweet."
Sango saw Miroku appear in front of her with a devilish smile on his face. "Can you believe the dance is in two days?" Sango shook her head. "I'm looking forward to Halloween!" He laughed and walked over to her and rested his hand on her shoulder.
`What is he doing?' she wondered.
"Well, Sango, I was just -"
"Ok, ok, I got it! Stupid bastard!! You don't think I understand!?!"
Sango and Miroku turned around and saw Kouga walking up the hallway, books under one arm, and his cell phone up against his ear.
"NO!!!! THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL!!!!"
"Who's he talking to?" Sango asked, whispering in Miroku's ear. He shrugged and shushed her.
"I-I can't. I won't do it. NO!!! You heard me! I won't go through with it. Yes, I want the bastard dead too, but…" he sighed and leaned against the wall. "Fine, I'll do it, just don't hurt her."
He hung up the phone and walked into the elevator. "What was that all about?" Sango inquired. "I don't know. But I want to know."
"Hmm," Sango said while thinking.
"Sango?"
She looked up from her train of thought and stared into the face of Miroku. "Yes?" "Do you remember when we first met?"
"How can I forget," she replied. He smiled, "Do you remember how I asked you if I could paint you?"
Her facial features lightened and she looked plainly at him. "Yes, I do. Why?" "Would you still want to go through it?"
`I had thought he had forgotten…sweet little bastard.'
"I don't care. If you want to."
Miroku's face lit up and he held Sango in his arms with a quick hug. "Great! Ok, the woods, two hours. Oh, thank you!!" He ran off.
Sango smiled and chuckled, but stopped. `How can he make me feel so hot and cold at the same time? How can he make my day just by saying my name?'
`You're in love, you idiot!' her inner voice said.
"No I'm not," she said aloud.
`Yes, when you see him, you know that your heart feels like it will leap from your chest. And when he holds you, you know your heart beats faster and slower at the same time.'
Sango blushed. She knew it was a true fact.
She was really falling in love with Miroku.

Kikyo sat on the balcony just outside the apartment room. It was his room. He had called her, saying he needed her for something. And she came, after all, he was the reason she was walking again.
`But also the reason you were dead,' she thought.
"What could he possibly want this time?"
"Just for you to pay the visit, Kikyo."
Kikyo spun around on her heels to see Naraku standing in front of the closed front door. He was wearing a black suit with a maroon tie. His long black hair was hanging down by his shoulders, and his eyes were glinting for the lust of evil.
"Why did you call me here?" she asked as she sat down in the white plastic lawn chair beside her.
"Business," he replied.
She could hear the click-clocks of his snakeskin shoes on the linoleum floor. He was coming towards her. Standing behind her.
"Tell me, Kikyo. How can you love such a creature that does not possess the power to take care of you? To want you?" Kikyo heard his words but felt no meaning towards them.
"How can you find yourself attracted to such a weak adversary, when power is what you truly desire?"
"What are you talking about?" Kikyo spat as she turned her head around suddenly, her hair whipping her in the face, as she glared at Naraku.
"You know what I mean," he said crouching behind her chair. "I can see into your heart, I can read your eyes. I know what you truly want. Truly desire."
"You know nothing!" she spat as she stood up. "If you have nothing for me to do, I will leave."
"Oh I have something for you to do. I want you to stop Inuyasha from going to the dance. There, I will get rid of the girl."
"What is the point of this dance?"
Naraku chuckled, "I realize dances may be something from high school, but I need to get close to this, Kagome. I will be mixed with students in costumes. I will not be noticed." He chuckled evilly, "It's the perfect way to dispose of her. Hidden amongst the crowds."
Kikyo didn't respond, she continued to look over the balcony. Over at the darkening city of Japan.
"Did you hear me!?!" Kikyo nodded. "Then you will do it?"
"Yes," she replied, her head down, hair hanging down in front of her face.
Naraku chuckled and placed a hand on her shoulder and a brilliant pink shone and threw Naraku onto the ground.
Kikyo walked by him and looked down at him disgustingly, "You may not touch me," she replied calmly but angrily and walked out of the apartment slamming the door behind her, leaving Naraku with a malicious smile drifting `cross his features.

Kagome was standing inside Inuyasha's room for the third time. But unlike the other two times, this time she was invited, well, rather forced.
She was drinking in the site of his room. It was unlike her room, the same size, but it was a bit messier than hers. Not like a tornado hit it or anything, but just a few things causing clutter.
"Sorry about the mess," Inuyasha piped up once he noticed Kagome looking around.
"I don't mind. I'm not all that spick and span either," she said with a smile. Inuyasha nodded and went about picking things up off the couch, floor and counters. He was going at a quick pace and Kagome didn't know what to do, but stand there and watch.
He was running with an armful of stuff. Clothes, garbage, papers even plates and cups. He stopped when he noticed Kagome staring at him.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
Kagome blushed after being caught and she shook her head. "No." He nodded and finished cleaning up.
He dropped down onto the couch and rested his feet up on top of the table and sighed. Kagome still standing with her hands neatly crossed in front of her.
"You can sit down, ya know," Inuyasha said suddenly causing her to jump. "Wha -? Oh, thanks."
She sat down next to him and crossed one leg over the other and stared down at her hands. Picking at her fingernails. She stole a quick peek at Inuyasha and jumped and clung to the opposite side arm of the couch when she saw him looking at her.
"My, aren't we jumpy this evening," he said with a smirk. Kagome glared at him,
"You startled me! I wasn't expecting you to be looking at me!" "Well, sorry!" he said standing up and stretching.
"You wanna go get something to eat?" he asked as she stood up.
"Sure, I'm starved." "I'm not surprised. You're too skinny anyway."
"Hey, what does that mean!?!"
He laughed and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm just messing with you, Kagome." She glared at him as he walked into his bedroom; she then tried to turn the doorknob. It wouldn't move. It was stuck.
"Hey, Inuyasha?"
"What now?" he asked as he pulled a sweater over his head.
"Your - uh - your doorknobs stuck."
"What? No it's not!" He moved her aside and jiggled the doorknob. "What the hell?"
"I told you," Kagome said from behind him.
"Feh! It's just a little stuck," he said roughly as he began to harshly pull and twist at the doorknob.
"Bloody piece of shit!!!" he roared kicking the door.
Kagome flinched at the pitch in his voice and sat down on the couch, hugging herself. "Now what?" she asked. "We can't leave the room?"
He turned around and looked at her. Her legs were getting goose bumps and she was shivering.
"It - it's cold in here," she shivered.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair and took off his sweater and tossed at her, it landing in her lap.
"Hmm?" she asked when she felt the warm fabric touch her skin. "You can use that if you're cold," he offered as he walked into the kitchen.
She nodded and pulled it on. It was warm and it smelt like Inuyasha. That warm masculine smell that made her smile.
"What're you so happy about?" Inuyasha asked gruffly from the behind an open cabinet. Kagome blushed and shook her head. "Nothing."
She got up and stood behind him. "What are you looking for?" she asked. He grumbled something that she couldn't quite make out so she just stood there with her arms crossed until he yelled, "AHA!!"
He turned around with a container of Ramen in his hands. "I love this stuff," he said happily. Kagome laughed and took the package from him and poured it in the pan Inuyasha had gotten out, "You're such a child."
Inuyasha chuckled and left Kagome in the kitchen as he walked into his room.
`Oh my fucking god! It's a mess! Kagome can't see it like this!!' Inuyasha's mind raged.
He began to shove things into his closet and under his bed. He actually made his bed for the first time in nine years and he put his guitar case on the bed.
"It's done, Inuyasha!" Kagome called from the kitchen. Inuyasha sighed and walked out, finding Kagome digging around through his cupboards.
"Bowls, bowls, bowls, bowls. Aha! Bowls!"
Kagome pulled out two bowls and two sets of chopsticks and poured herself and Inuyasha a bowlful.
She handed him his with a smile and he said, "You wanna watch a movie?" Kagome nodded, "Sure, which one?"
"Doesn't matter," he said placing his bowl on the coffee table. "What about `Once Upon a Time in Mexico'?" She nodded. "Yeah, sure, that's a good movie."
He put in the DVD and they sat down on the couch together and watched the movie and nibbled at their Ramen.
An hour and somewhat later, Kagome was putting the empty Ramen bowls in the sink and Inuyasha was putting away the movie.
"I love that movie," she said as she wiped her hands on the back of her jeans. Inuyasha nodded.
"Hey, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked. "Yeah?"
"Can I see your room?"
Inuyasha walked into the kitchen with a smirk on his face and an eyebrow raised. "You wanna see my room?" he repeated.
Kagome nodded with a blush.
"Ok….."
He walked out of the kitchen and opened the door to his bedroom and flicked on the light.
Everything was perfectly Inuyasha. The sheets to the bed were red with his acoustic on top. His dresser was covered in pictures of a woman and man Kagome expected to be his parents. And the smell, it was absolutely, 100% Inuyasha.
"Wow," she said as she sat on his bed with a bounce, "Nice room."
"Thanks."
She looked beside her at the guitar and she began to open the case. "You don't mind if I - uh - open this, do you?" she asked.
He sat beside her and she moved over to give him his space. He opened up the case and pulled out his acoustic guitar.
"Wow, it's beautiful," Kagome said breath taken.
"It was my father's," he said strumming a few notes. "Beautiful," Kagome repeated as she trailed her hand over the fine and smooth outer surface of the guitar.
"Can you play me something?" she asked softly.
"What?" he asked surprisingly.
"Can you play me something?" she asked again. Inuyasha sighed then nodded. "What do you want to hear?"
She sat further back on the bed, "It doesn't matter. Play whatever makes you feel something. That brings out your soul," Kagome said deeply.
He nodded and cleared his throat and began to strum the strings in a hypnotizing way. And a soft melody began.
Kagome shut her eyes and let the music engulf her body. She imagined horses prancing in her mind as she lost herself. Then suddenly, she heard Inuyasha begin to sing.
Years ago, I knew a man
He was my mother's biggest fan
We used to walk beside the sea
And he told me how life would be
When I grew up to be a man
Kagome felt tears forming in her eyes. Inuyasha was so talented, his hands played the notes perfectly and his voice. His voice was the perfect tenor. It hit each note flawlessly and was wonderfully rounded and it made Kagome's heart cry out to him.
Years ago, we used to play
He used to laugh when I ran away
But when I fell and hurt my knee
He would run to comfort me
And the pain would go away
Years ago, I knew a boy
He was his daddy's pride and joy
But when the daddy went away
It was such a rainy day
That he brought out all his toys
How the mother did explain
Trying to take away the pain
But he just couldn't understand
That his father was not a man
That it all was just a game
The years have passed, and so have I
Making it hard for me to cry
And if and when I have a son
Let it all be said and done
Let the sadness pass him by
Inuyasha strummed off the last few notes and then stopped and opened his eyes. He never realized he shut them until he heard sniffling coming from beside him. He turned to look at Kagome and saw tears pouring from her eyes.
"Kagome?" Inuyasha asked as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "Are you ok?" She laughed and choked out a sob.
"That - that was beautiful, Inuyasha," she said with a sniffle as she looked up at him. He looked at her and smiled.
`Even when she's crying she's beautiful,' he thought gazing upon her face.
"It's nothing to cry about," Inuyasha said with a chuckle.
"Yes, yes it is," she said wiping a tear from her cheek. "Your voice is beautiful and your playing is exquisite. I feel something when you play, Inuyasha. I feel whole. Everything seems ok in the world. There's something about your music that just makes me want to cry. To pour out my soul and lose myself."
Kagome stopped and held Inuyasha's hand in hers and began to lightly trace over the lines engraved.
"You're a wonderful musician, Inuyasha. Your music makes my heart cry. And - your music makes me feel things I've never felt before."
Kagome began to cry a little harder and Inuyasha pulled her into a hug and rubbed her back in a comforting manor.
"Spoken in the words by a true musician. Kagome, there's something about you. I - I don't know how to put it. But you can realize things about my music that no one's known before. You're an odd one, Kagome Higurashi," Inuyasha said with a smile.
Kagome laughed into his chest and she looked up at him. "I'm suddenly really tired."
He looked at his watch, "It is eleven, you can sleep in the bed just in the room beyond that door."
Kagome nodded and Inuyasha showed her the room. She crawled into bed and said goodnight to Inuyasha. He smiled at her and left the room.
`She's captured my heart,' he thought.
`No one makes me feel the way you do, Kagome. We're meant for each other. It's so easy to see. But I don't know how to tell you these feelings, Kagome.'
Inuyasha walked outside and sat in his lawn chair and gazed up at the quarter moon and stars as they twinkled and shone with beauty, reminding Inuyasha of Kagome's eyes.
"I'll tell you, Kagome. Some way, some day, you'll know how I feel."
