Kagome's Blessing in a Curse
By: Cap'n BlackRose
Chapter Two
Kagome was back in the past. The others hadn't been there, and she was glad for it. `It would just be to hard to explain it allï'¼' she thought to herself. To keep them from following, she covered her scent using her miko powers. `I am so sorry Shipou-chanï'¼but I am a "murderer" now and would not make a good mother for youï'¼Sango and Miroku will look after youï'¼' after she thought that she thought it would be best to leave a note so that her friends wouldn't worry for her.
`Hey guys! I am back in the past now forever. I am no longer going to go back to my time. If you are wondering, I will not be coming back to the group. Miroku and Sango, please take care of Shippou! I am a murderer and would not make a good mother to Shippou anymore. If you want to know what I am talking about, go to the God Tree. Do not worry for me. I am much stronger than I ever let on. I will be looking for the rest of the shards. If we meet again, it will be by chance or jewel shards. Sayonara Love, Kagome
`Now that that is out of the wayï'¼I hope I am doing the right thing.' With those thoughts and many more, she placed the letter in a spot easily seen but well protected from the elements. Now that her letter was in place, she took off in a streak of black.
~*~*~*~
"I thought I sensed a strong presence just nowï'¼" Miroku trailed off. They had been there in Kaede's village now for some hours to wait out Kagome's return.
"I smell magic. It smells kinda like Kagome! It's centered around the wellï'¼" Shippou said thoughtfully. Everyone looked at him funny, then after a moment of hesitation, took off to the well. `Shippou is all ways sure on things when it comes to Kagomeï'¼' Sango thought.
"Lady Kagome! Where are you?!?" Miroku yelled for her.
"Okassanï'¼where are youï'¼"Shippou whimpered.
"Kagome-chan!!! Where are you?!? Answerï'¼ please!!! A desperate sounding Sango yelled.
`So sorry guysï'¼I'm notï'¼the sameï'¼personï'¼'A sad Kagome thought after Sango's heart-wrenching yell
"Guys, what's this?!?" A curious Shippou asked them.
"This is Kagome's handwritingï'¼" Miroku trailed off as he read the letter. "My Godï'¼Kagomeï'¼damn itï'¼what did you do?!?" Miroku asked the air quietly with horror in his voice.
"Let me read it!" Sango said, panicking at the sight of the monk that was obviously in distress. It scared her that Miroku was reacting so badly that he was cussing. With shacking hands she took the letter and read it. "Noï'¼no Kagomeï'¼" Sango whispered as she sank to the ground crying.
"Sango, do you know whoï'¼"
"I have a feeling, but lets go check in case we're wrongï'¼"
`I hate having to do this you all. I had to though.' With that thought, Kagome took off, soundless like a shadow. Looking just like one in the forest.
"INU-YASHA!!!!!!!!!" A horrified Sango yelled as soon as she was in the clearing.
"Noï'¼what have you done Kagome? He was a friend. One with many faults, but a friend none the less. " Miroku murmured.
"I did, what I had to doï'¼ friend or not."
"Kagome!!!" Shippou had launched himself to try to get into her motherly embrace, but she side-stepped him with a cold expressionless face that let no one in. "Kagomeï'¼" Shippou whispered in a small lost voice.
"Kagomeï'¼why?!?" Sango asked as she ushered a whimpering Shippou into her arms.
"Either I killed them first, or they would kill me." The way she said it, with such finality, it chilled everyone to the bone. "Kikyo tried to kill me, Inu-Yasha refused to see the truth of it, and that made him just as guilty as her in the repeated attempts on my life."
"Why didn't you tell us?!?" Sango asked.
Miroku had just now looked up, and when he saw her, he thought he was looking at a youkai. `What happened to you?' He asked himself as Kagome explained.
"In response to your question Miroku, I have changed for the better. I am not a youkai though. And for your question Sango, do you know what Inu-Yasha would have done? He would have gotten an earful from you and Miroku, then would have come after me calling me a lying bitch and probably even attack me. You know how touchy he was when it came to dear precious Kikyo!!" They were stunned. She could clearly see that. They were stunned at her extreme lack of emotions, and Miroku was flat out floored from when she read his mind.
"Later guysï'¼I have some things to take care of. Ja ne." She said as she was walking off.
"Byeï'¼momma." Shippou murmured to her rapidly disappearing back.
"Bye Kagome-chanï'¼we will continue to look for the shards, so we can meet again."
"Fare-well for now Kagome-sama. We will meet again."
"Bye my friends. I will have changed even more by the time we meet again. Do not fear me when we meet. When we meet, we will know each other." With that she faded away completely, blending perfectly into the shadows. Leaving her friends with the petrified lovers cursed to eternity on the God Tree.
~*~*~*~
"SESSHOU-MARU-SAMA!!!!!!" a happy Rin yelled at the top of her lungs. As she ran full throttle towards the castle that was her home now.
"Puny human!!! Stop yelling! Sesshou-Maru-sama would never take something as stupid as a flower!!!" Jaken squawked as he struggled to keep up with his charge.
"Jaken-sama is just mad that he doesn't have a flower!!" Rin said with a six-year- old's logic. "Rin will make all better and will go pick Jaken-sama a flower!!" She squeaked with delight as she abruptly changed direction and ran back to the flower field.
"NOOOO!!!!! Human get back here damn it!!!" He howled as he was made by Rin's abrupt decision to turn around and follow after.
`I have finally found suitable purpose for that toad. He makes the perfect baby-sitter for Rin.' Sesshou-Maru thought as he walked slowly and gracefully toward Jaken.
"Jaken." He said in his soft but demanding voice. "Watch after Rin. But being as you are so incompetent at keeping the child in your direct line of sight, take her inside. There is a spell-caster in my lands. I do not wish to have to deal with the trouble of its visit." `Also I don't wish to deal with the stench of death that would permeate my lands for months.' He thought afterwards. With that he left. Rin had fallen asleep and so she did not hamper him at all as he left.
~*~*~*~
Kagome was lost. All she knew was that she was in the Western Lands. That did little to improve her mood. `I'm strong enough to take care of myself for the most part, but not strong enough to take on Sesshou-Maru and live to tell the tale.' She thought grimly. Just then, she felt an odd presence near the village she was approaching. `It feels very oldï'¼and very experienced in staying aliveï'¼also, very experienced in magic casting.' She thought. `But this one, feels like it is casting a spell, that is going to go awryï'¼I have to save the village!' She thought panicked. With that she took off at a run towards the village. When she reached the edge of it, she saw grotesquely deformed bodies, obviously the result of magic the body did not accept. `Greatï'¼now I have even more work. Being a miko, I can't walk away. I have to help this village.' With that, she went looking for the demon. When she found it, it was about to cast a spell on a young girl. `She looks familiarï'¼what is that thing next to her?!?' on closer inspection she found it to be Jaken. `No time to try and puzzle through thisï'¼' with that thought she lunged and knocked the girl aside, and was hit with the spell intended for the girl. "KYAHHHHH!!!!!!!" She screamed in pain as the spell took hold of her body. But her miko powers harnessed the spell and used it for their own advantage. As the altered spell took effect, she could feel her bones grinding and stretching as she became more mature looking and taller, she became more filled out in the right places. She felt her powers swell with new power as she suddenly realized what her body was doing with the spell. "NO,I DON'T WANT TO BE A YOUKAI!!!!!!" she yelled futilely. Finally the black glow that had taken hold of her body faded, she was mad. "STUPID!!!!!!!" she yelled as she launched herself at the beast. The beast brought up a very strong shield and started laughing at her. "Grrrrr" she growled in fury. Suddenly a red haze covered her sight and she let out a growl that seemed to rock the heavens themselves. With that she transformed before the panicking youkai into a huge black dog with a crescent moon with an arrow through it on her forehead and purple strips on her cheeks. With a blue glow surrounding her, she destroyed the barrier and the youkai instantly. With that, exhausted from her transformations she collapsed, still in true form on the ground next to the youkai she had destroyed.
~*~*~*~
`Where is the beast? I know I sensed one around here.' A frustrated Sesshou-Maru thought. As he was gliding through the forest, he suddenly heard a yell he recognized only to well. `Rinï'¼' he thought speeding up. Then he heard another yell this one of unimaginable pain that he recognized as his brother's wench. Then following the scream, he heard a roar that seemed to shake the very heavens. `What is going on?' He thought. When he arrived, he saw a huge inu (a/n: meaning dog) youkai on the ground, that was at least as big as he was and a very excited Rin running towards it yelling something like, "Onee-chan saved Rin" and then he saw the green lump that was Jaken. He noted that the inu youkai was still awake because it has something akin to a smile on its face as Rin stroked its ear in small movements. That is when, he saw the bloody ragged remains of the spell-caster. His eyes widened just barely at the site.
"Rin." He said immediately catching Rin's small attention span.
"Sesshou-Maru-sama!!!!!!" Rin called happily as she ran to him and hugging him. He saw the inu youkai try to shift to look at him and succeeded after about one minute of struggling to look at him. What he saw, took his breath away. Beautiful blue-gray eyes, a blue moon with an arrow through it, and purple strips on its face. `This youkai is aï'¼female. How is she so strong?' he thought smelling the air. `I will take her with me. She may be useful to meï'¼' he thought. What he wouldn't admit, was he thought her beautiful and that she would make a good mate. As he smelled the air, he smelled mixed magic. `I heard my bother's wench around here somewhereï'¼where is she?' he thought perplexed. `I will ask this demon when she is capable of it. I have some questions I would like to know the answers to.' He thought as he walked towards her. Rin had decided to go bother Jaken so Sesshou-Maru didn't worry about her getting hurt, if the youkai in front of him thought harm was going to brought upon her and started fighting, she could do considerable damage even exhausted. As he neared her, he watched as she tensed and tried to get up. "Will you change form so we can have a civilized conversation?" the question was more of a command and he was sure she didn't appreciate it.
`What do you want Sesshou-Maru?' a voice snarled in his head. The voice was distinctly female, had a low threat ringing around it, and was definitely tired sounding.
"You can mind talk. I don't want to mind talk. Change form." He commanded out loud.
`I don't know how.' The voice was once again in his head. This time though, it sounded desperate, pleading, and exasperated about her situation.
"What?" Sesshou-Maru's mouth would have dropped open if it weren't for his control.
`I don't know how baka! I was turned into a youkai by that stupid pile of goo there. And I repeat myself, I don't know how to change back!'
"First of all, you have to calm down." He instructed hiding his surprise at her response and also the fact that she dared defy him even though, she could barley even move.
`I am calm. I was close to going to sleep when Rin came up and started petting my ear. Besides, my eyes aren't red anymore.'
"Being as you are already calm, now focus on what you looked like before you transformed."
`Okayï'¼' with that, she closed her eyes and envisioned what she had looked like. She glowed a blue and then, before him was a very battered, and very tired girl he now recognized as Inu-Yasha's bitch. But she was different. She was a demon now, with a blue crescent moon on her forehead with an arrow through it and the two purple stripes on each side of her face. She also had stripes on her wrists, and the trademark pointed ears. She had also become maturer looking and had filled out in the right places. She had become a woman in every sense of the word.
"Inu-Yasha's bitch turned demon." He stated with no real interest in his voice. But truth be told, he was burning to know why she was here of all places and alone even.
"Inu-Yasha is no more." She bit back at him with only slight annoyance on her otherwise expressionless face.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his interest piqued. `Also, what has happened to make you so like me in your attitude?' he asked silently.
Just as she was about to answer, she suddenly fell over with blood trickling down her face.
`Well now, she has raised my interest. And she is not that bad lookingï'¼I will bring her back with me and Rin.' With that, he walked over picked her up and got Rin and they left. He left Jaken in the clearing to later wake up and to determine his master wanted him to clean up the village and then leave. `She has changed drastically. She looks and smells even better than before.' He thought almost lost in his thoughts. `ACK! No! Mind out of gutter and concentrate on where we are going. As he was taking a deep breath to clear his head he took in her scent in the process. The soft smell of dried roses and seasons long faded filled his nose. A momentary lapse in concentration as he reveled in her scent, resulted in a barely missed accidental confrontation with a tree and a panicked Rin as he jumped out of the way and continued running towards his home. `This is going to be the longest trip home everï'¼' he trailed off as he turned his attention back to the run home so as not to hit any trees.
