Hey guys. Hope you liked my last chapter. Anyways, glad I could answer most of your questions. And the reason Kayome isn't going to have Inuyasha as a dad is because they will fall in love. But don't worry I know who the dad is going to be. Hahahahahaha!!!

Well I guess I will just get on with the story.

Chapter 5: discovery of a secret untold

(I really liked the title. It caught my interest. Really all it is, is Kayome finding out about her mom. So on with or you will kill me feathers. Ya I know.)

Kayome stared in wide-eyed amazement. `How could this be? My mother knew these people?` questions like this kept racing thru her thoughts.

"How…can that be?" she asked aloud.

"Are you sure we're talking about the right kagome?" asked Inuyasha.

"Kagome higarashi?" said Kayome.

"That's her." Replied Miroku.

"Kayome, I think you and I need to talk…alone."said Inuyasha holding a hand out to her.

"I agree." Said Sango, "You guys really need to talk."

Kayome took his hand and he led her into the forest, followed by a large group of assorted animals.

"Kayome, your mother stumbled upon the well long ago. She vowed to help me get my revenge upon an evil hanyou named Naraku. We faced many dangers together and in the last battle against Naraku…she lost her life after defeating him. I don't know why she didn't you the power of the jewel to stay alive but…"His head was bent down so that his face was covered by his bangs. But from underneath, Kayome saw a single tear slide down his cheek.

"Inuyasha?"

"She was a wonderful person. And stayed by me even when we fought." Still more tears trickled from underneath the veil of hair.

"You loved her, didn't you?"

"Very much. But she loved me as a friend. It hurt her to see me with kikyo, but it hurt her even more that kikyo was a lost soul wondering the earth in a clay body. She was so kind. No matter how many times kikyo tried to kill her, she still felt pity."

"I'm sorry. It's hard to lose someone you never met… but even harder still to lose someone you did love."

"It's not your fault. You never even knew her. That must have been hard…growing up with out your mom." He raised his head and she could see his tear stained face. "I grew up with out my dad. And being a half demon, I always got picked on and kicked around."

"That's so sad. My mother was always there for you though thru thick and thin."

"Yep. No matter what. I still regret not wishing for her to survive. I could have saved her…but she didn't want to. She banished it. I don't know where, but it's gone."

The tears had stopped flowing and he was smiling.

"You can come out now Sesshomaru."

A tall man jumped from down from the top of a tree and walked over to Inuyasha, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"You miss her still don't you Inuyasha?"

"Ya, I can't stop thinking about her. She has been haunting my dreams too."

"My name is Sesshomaru, I am Inuyasha's older brother. Kagome was one of my best friends. I miss her too. But lately Inuyasha has been having dreams about her."

"Ya it's starting to get clearer. But I still can't understand it."

Kayome sat down on the grass and a fox pup jumped into her lap. She stroked it gently then noticed it had two tails.

`Why do you have two tails?' the longer sentence was harder to transfer to the young fox's mind but she did her best.

`I am fox demon. My name is Fira. It stands for fire.`

Kayome smiled at it and continued to talk to it, but decided it would be easier to talk aloud.

"Do you have family?"She asked. The Inu brothers stared at her in confusion but when they saw the young fox shake it's head no they knew she wasn't talking to them.

"Do you want to stay with me?" she asked.

The animal shook its head yes this time, and she picked it up and cradled it in her arms.

"We should get back to the others. C'mon Sesshomaru." Inuyasha started to walk forward and Kayome followed him. Sesshomaru was last in the line.

"Inuyasha can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Do you know who my father is?"

"No but I will help you find him. No matter what it takes."
