Chapter 1: InuYasha's Curiosity

Dear Diary,

Today is my fifteenth birthday. It was so strange. I heard my little brother Sota tell me the cat went into the well house. I went to look and when I heard scratching, I assumed it was just Buyo. Once I found him though, the well explodes from behind me! A blue light engulfed me and that's when I was grabbed by long arms that dragged me through the well. It was a demon, she was called Mistress Centipede.

I found myself in Feudal Japan, instead of home in modern day Tokyo. I saw the Sacred Tree, like the one on my family shrine. But on the tree was a strange boy. He only looked to be sleeping and seemed very peaceful. He has long silver hair, sharpened claws and even triangle shaped dog ears on top of his head. I reached forward and touched his fuzzy ears. They were so soft, like a puppy. He'd kill me if he knew I thought that and touched his ears while he slept.

I was then taken away by the local villagers. They even called me a demon! Then an old woman came to me. Her name is Lady Kaede and she seemed so strange but kind of nice. She had the villagers release me and she even gave me some dinner.

Then the demon had returned. There was fighting everywhere and Mistress Centipede even said she needed 'the jewel'. I was questioned by Kaede, asking if I had it. I didn't know anything about it and I had no clue why everyone was looking at me like I had two heads. I ran and ran, trying to lead the demon away from the village.

When I made it closer to the tree again, I tripped and fell. When I looked back up, it was that boy again. Only this time, his eyes were open and he was speaking to me. His eyes.. They are the most perculiar. Amber like the burning sun. I seemed to get lost in those eyes for only a moment. He kept calling me 'Kikyo'. I was getting annoyed and yelled at him to stop and that my name is Kagome.

When the demon grabbed me, I held onto the boys hair. I just didn't want to be taken and I was frightened. He yelled at me to let go but I definitely didn't want to do that. When the Centipede came after me again, I seemed to have pushed her away with a flash of pink light. I did that once before when she first attacked me in the well. I didn't quite know why that had happened.

When the Centipede demon bit me, I flew through the air and that's when I saw it. The Sacred Jewel - Shikon no Tama - had come out of my body. It was as if the whole thing was happening in slow motion. The demon ate the jewel after that, it seemed to have absorbed into it's body.

I was then given a choice. Pull the arrow out of this demon and let him free so he could save us. Or keep him pinned to the tree while Mistress Centipede eats us. Kaede was yelling for me not to do it, but I had to. I felt as if I had no choice. I wanted to live and this boy was my only chance. I grabbed onto the arrow and held tight. A flash of pink light came from my hand and the arrow snapped in half. He was free.

Kaede said the boys' name was InuYasha. InuYasha saved us after that. He destroyed the demon so easily. He only used his claws. He looked like a god. I was so relieved. Kaede then gave me the jewel and told me I needed to protect it.

My relief didn't last too long. It seemed to happen in a blink of an eye. InuYasha came after me because I had the sacred jewel. He even threatened to kill me! I ran and ended up tripping and falling, causing his sharp claws to miss me by the smallest of margens.

We made it to this clearing, over a small bridge. Kaede had done something which caused a necklace made of beads to wrap around InuYasha's neck. She had called it 'the beads of subjugation'. Kaede told me to say a word. I was supposed to know what to say in order to subdue InuYasha. I thought hard and after a moment, I glanced up at his dog ears and it came to me. I yelled out the words, "SIT BOY!" At that, he plummeted through the bridge and into the water.

Kaede told me I could use the subduing spell in order to keep InuYasha contained so he can't hurt me. Even though he seemed to actually try and hurt me.. I felt like he wouldn't actually do it. This word could come in handy though.

I wanted to go home. This InuYasha boy is so rude and annoying. I really can't stand him. Yet.. He seems to be so annoyingly cute. His doggie ears, his eyes. I really can't stand that I love those eyes so much.. He can really never know I think that..

Anyway, I wanted to go home but something happened. A crow came out of no where and stole the jewel from me! I was so surprised, I grabbed a bow and Arrow since InuYasha said that Kikyo was a master archer. All this talk about me being the reincarnation of her, I felt I had to be atleast a little good at it. Well, I was wrong. I was a terrible shot and couldn't even come close to hitting the crow.

I was riding on the back of InuYasha while trying to get closer to the bird. I never want him to find out, but I kind of liked riding his back like that. It felt natural, flying through the air, feeling the wind in my hair. Holding onto him felt like second nature..

Once we got closer and I couldn't seem to shoot, I decided to attach the crows feet to my arrow. I let the arrow fly and it went straight for the crow. I thought that was a good thing.. until there was this burst of pink light that covered the entire sky. The sacred jewel had shattered and spread accross all of Feudal Japan. And it was all my fault..

Kaede said InuYasha and I had to work together. I could sense the Jewel Shards and InuYasha could defeat the demons who took them. Great, now I have to spend more time with him. Whatever. Once I find these shards, I can go home and be a normal student again.

Kagome lifted her head from her diary with a slight tear in her eye. 'It has already been a year since that day.' She looked around at her group of friends she had met along the way. Shippo, the little fox demon child. Sango, the Eighteen year old demon slayer. Miroku, the nineteen year old lecherous monk. And InuYasha, the half demon that she couldn't stand just a year ago.

A lot has changed since then. She can't believe it has been a whole year since she met him. That day, she wanted nothing more then to just go home and never come back. Now, she can't imagine life without her friends. She can't believe she fell in love with the half demon she couldn't stand so much.

Flipping through her diary, there are so many memories. InuYasha fighting by her, with her, even for her. The day she first saw him as a human. The day of the spider heads.

'You smell kind of nice..' She had written that in her diary that day. It made her heart flutter. She had no clue why though. She couldn't stand InuYasha. She had started to care for him and didn't want to see him hurt, but she still couldn't stand his attitude. But that day, when he let his defenses down, even for a moment.. She saw how sweet he could actually be.

Kagome doesn't know exactly when she started to like him on a deeper level, but she definitely felt something when he said those words to her that day.

She shakes her head of those past thoughts and decides to write another entry before she goes to bed.

-:-

Dear Diary,

I can't believe it has been an entire year since InuYasha and I first met. A lot has happened since then. I met Shippo, then Miroku and then Sango and even Kirara. Shippo is such an adorable little fox demon. Sometimes I even feel like a mother figure to him. Miroku is definitely a hentai but he is still a really good friend and very helpful in battle. Then there's Sango. She is like a big sister to me. She is two years older than me but we are still so close.

Inuyasha.. I can't believe a year has passed since I shattered the jewel throughout all of Feudal Japan. Honestly though, I am happy. I am here with my friends and I don't know where I would be without them.

A year... A year since I hated InuYasha.. Well, I didn't really hate him. I thought he was so cute and his eyes.. I loved them. I still do. I always get lost in his amber eyes. A year ago, I wanted to get away from him. Not because he is a demon.. But because he was so utterly rude and obnoxious.. And I couldn't help but like him.. I guess that terrified me..

Now.. Now I'm in love with him. I don't know how to go about that. It's not like he could ever love me back. He still loves Kikyo. I can't even think of him without thinking of her.

But InuYasha is always protecting me. Like today. I had been kidnapped by Kagura. She had me hold an infant close to my chest. This infant was able to speak and he held onto me really tight. This Yokai was created from Naraku and he wanted to look into my soul. My heart. He tried to convince me that InuYasha did not care. He tried to find darkness within me. I almost gave in but then something stopped me.

I knew InuYasha couldn't forget Kikyo. I knew that was the truth when I promised him I would stay with him. I stayed anyway. When I realized my jealousy must be proof of my feelings, I yelled out loud that I am 'In love with InuYasha.' I had never admitted that before. I never even admitted it to myself. But I knew it had to be true. I am In love with InuYasha and I can't help it.

Not even two seconds after I declaired those feelings aloud, InuYasha came crashing in and rescued me. He always saves me. I love him so much and I can't even tell him..

-:-

Kagome looks up from her diary as she realises a stray tear had hit the page. She wipes her tear away and blushes a bright shade of crimson as she slams her diary shut.

"InuYasha! What're you doing?!" Kagome was so deep in writing that she didn't even notice the hanyou crouching directly in front of her. He is staring at her, not even five inches away from her face.

InuYasha analyzes her features carefully. He noticed she had started to cry but nothing around seemed to have been the cause. He sees the strange book from the future in her hands and growls in annoyance. She is always writing in that damn book and he can never know why. She always seems to get upset when she writes inside of it.

InuYasha growls lightly again before speaking. "Why are you cryin'? I smelled your tears and came over."

Kagome looks around the camp site and notices the rest of her friends are fast asleep, it's just her and InuYasha. She takes a deep breath in, trying to rid herself of the redness that the embarrassment caused before she spoke.

"Nothing is wrong. I guess.. I was just thinking too much. Alright?" She looked slightly away from his gaze, hoping beyond hope that this was enough to end the conversation. She thought wrong.

InuYasha doesn't buy it. He starts to smell around her, then he smells her book. He tries to grab it from her but she pulls away too fast. "Let me see it. It is making you sad, so I wanna know what's in it."

Kagome holds her diary to her chest and yells, "NO! It's mine and you can't see it."

InuYasha growls again as he gets even more irritated at her. He doesn't quite understand why she is keeping secrets from him. He figured they have gotten passed that point in their relationship. "What do you write in their anyway? You humans have so many weird things."

"None of your business! It's a secret. I've been writing in a diary since I was little and I'm not about to allow you to look into it." She holds the diary closer to her chest and calms down when she notices InuYasha walk away, defeated.

Kagome lets out all the air she was holding in and sneaks over to where she is going to sleep. She glances over at InuYasha to make sure he isn't looking, and it seems he is just pouting in the tree with his eyes closed. She lays down in her sleeping bag with Shippo and carefully puts her diary in her big yellow bag laying directly behind her.

InuYasha is watching her through mostly closed eyelids. What could possibly be in that book? He really wants to find out.

After about an hour of waiting, he listens carefully to calm heart beats and steady breathing. He looks up at the sky and sees that the sun is nearly up. 'What could that girl be writing about all night long?'

InuYasha's patience is waining thin and he peaks over again. All his friends seem to be fast asleep. If he is going to do this, he needs to do it before they wake up. Something seems to stop him. It feels wrong going through Kagome's things like this. He never used to care before, but Kagome changed him.

InuYasha shakes his head of those thoughts because anytime he starts to think of Kagome in that way, he gets too close. He can't let that happen. To himself, he is just a lonely hanyou. No matter how he feels, he can never be with her. He won't allow himself to corrupt Kagome.

InuYasha sneaks closer to Kagome's bag and reaches in. When he grabs onto the book, he sniffs it and flips to the page that has the fresh tear on it. That has to be the page she was just writing in and cried about. He starts to read what it says;

A year... A year since -

"InuYasha? What are you doing?" Shippo woke up rubing his eyes from sleep.

InuYasha quickly shuts the book and hides it behind his back. "None of your damn business. Now shut up before Kagome wakes up."

InuYasha starts to sneak back to Kagome's bag but Shippo stopped him. "Wait! That's Kagome's! She said no one can look inside of it!"

Kagome starts to stir in her sleep and rolled over. 'Great. Just what I need. A million sits.' InuYasha glares at Shippo as if to tell him 'shut up or I kill you.' As soon as InuYasha was about to put the diary back into Kagome's bag, her eyes flashed open and she caught InuYasha in the act.

Her eyes go wide with realization and her face flushed. Her entire body radiates heat with embarrassment. She feels as though she is sun bathing.. on the actual sun.

"INUYASHA!"

InuYasha's ears flatten to his head because he knows exactly what this means. He holds the diary to his chest, so that she can't get it after she says the word.

"SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT!"

InuYasha falls flat on his face, creating a crater in the shape of his body. All that can be heard now is his groaning.

Now the whole group wakes up and looks around. They aren't too surprised though, InuYasha tends to always get himself into some trouble.

"Idiot." Shippo finally said as InuYasha is still face first in the ground.

Miroku finally spoke up after his tiredness fades, "What happened?"

"Kagome, are you okay?" Sango asked her friend.

"That.. That JERK!" Kagome stomps over to InuYasha's body and yells at him again. "InuYasha! Give me my diary. NOW!"

InuYasha groans from his crater and rolls himself over. After a second, he comes to the conclusion that he was already in trouble so he might as well makes the most of it. He smiles at her with a fanged smile and notices the confused look on her face.

When Kagome sees his fanged smile, this leaves her flabbergasted. Why in the world is he smiling? Just that look alone, made her completely forget that she even has a word to stop him from doing whatever it is he is thinking of doing.

InuYasha jumps up and opens the book back up to read where he left off. Kagome tries to grab it but failed. As he is being chased by the priestess, he manages to read a little more;

A year... A year since I hated InuYasha.. Well, I didn't really hate him. I thought he was so cute and his eyes.. I loved them. I still do.

When he reads those words. He stops in his tracks. 'Cute? She loves my eyes?' Before he could continue reading though, Kagome came tumbling out of nowhere. She manages to grab the diary from his hands and closes it.

InuYasha is very quick and grabs it back. During this exchange though, they seem to trip over each others feet and fall over. The diary fell open and landed next to Kagome's head on the ground. Neither of them went for it though. They both have found themselves in quite the predicament.

Kagome fell on her back and ended up pulling InuYasha with her. They had dropped her diary in the process and InuYasha had fallen directly on top of her.

Now looking into each others eyes, they seem to be lost in time. Neither of them moving and neither of them seem to be on their way to grab the book. The entire reason they are like this in the first place.

Kagome's face starts to feel the warmth of embarrassment again, as the blush peaks through. InuYasha is on top of her completely and her legs ended up spreading slightly. His hands are on both sides of her shoulders and she is completely pinned down, unable to move. Kagome is just staring into his eyes and they both seemed to forget what started this whole fight.

InuYasha looks into her big brown eyes and he doesn't know what he should do. He is laying on top of her in such an erotic position. He looks down at her lips and ideas flood his mind. Ideas that he has been trying to hide for a very long time. He looks back up into her eyes again.

The blush on Kagome's face seems to darken when she feels InuYasha's growing member poke her thigh. Her eyes widen and she can't help but notice his lips are so close to hers. She glances at his mouth and then back into his amazingly amber eyes. 'Does he.. actually like this?' She can't help but getting turned on by this situation.

InuYasha starts to blush at the realization of what had actually just happened. He is laying on top of Kagome and just a slight inhale of her scent started to drive him in the wrong direction. He can't seem to move though. It is like time had stopped and they are the only two left on the entire planet.

When he looks back into her eyes, he sees something. He just doesn't know what it is. When he inhales deeper, he can smell her scent spike. His eyes slightly widen at the realization that she is actually enjoying what is happening. He can smell it. Her arousal. She is getting aroused by the position they are in, and in turn, he is getting even more aroused too.

At the sound of Miroku cough from behind them, they both look back at their group of friends and then back to each other. Their cheeks burn with embarrassment and InuYasha jumps up off of Kagome. He doesn't look back at her, but he reaches his hand out in order to help her back up.

Kagome just looks at him with slight confusion in her eyes. She notices he is trying not to look at her. She looks back at her friends who are all wondering what's going on between the two.

Shippo hops over to the couple, who seem to still be frozen in place. He picks up Kagome's diary and hands it to her. "Here you go Kagome!"

Kagome blushes again, a slight pink this time and takes it. "Thanks Shippo." She turns her head to Sango and says, "Will you come with me to take a bath?"

Sango nods her head in the positive and follows Kagome to the nearby hotspring.

InuYasha growls at Miroku and bites out, "What do you want?!" Miroku has been staring at him and it really irritates the hanyou.

"Nothing Inuyasha. You just seem to be acting strangely, that's all."

InuYasha growls again and can feel his arousal still evident within his hakama. He acts as though he is still pissed off at Miroku and stomps off into the forest, opposite to where Kagome and Sango had gone.
