Kagome Smells - Distractions

Disclaimer: I do not own any part of InuYasha. I just like to play with the characters.

Koga sat on the ground, rubbing his head where it had impacted with a rather thick, low-hanging branch. Given his youkai stamina, he was able to run all night…and given his youkai senses, he shouldn't have run into the branch…but half his mind had been occupied with what had been different about Kagome. All of a sudden, the image had come to him.

Tits.

He shook his head. How could he have missed it at the time? He guessed it had been the scent from InuYasha that had co-opted his attention. The half-breed had the disgusting scent of his own spilt seed all over him…and Koga knew InuYasha liked Kagome, even if the hanyou was too stupid to admit it.

Koga got to his feet and began running again. He would have to pay extra attention to make sure InuYasha didn't get close to Kagome's…

InuYasha's eyes were still open. It had been over an hour and he hadn't been able to sleep a wink. At least Kagome was asleep…and that was a blessing because, apparently, things like hard nipples went away when Kagome slept.

InuYasha groaned inwardly. At least they went away part of the time.

The problem was…they kept coming back. Every so often, Kagome would snuggle against him and there they'd be - hard again. And that remark she'd made about not exposing her in the morning? That hadn't exactly helped him keep control.

The hanyou glanced downwards. Not that he could see anything, what with being in the sleeping bag, but he didn't have to see to know exactly what was going on down there.

Little Tetsusaiga, as he called it, had “transformed.”

Kagome sighed inwardly. It was a good thing she was getting used to InuYasha's various scents or she would be out cold half the time. She took the slightest of sniffs. It had also helped that she had learned not to draw in so much air at one time. InuYasha's scent was spicy, heady. Her senses almost reeled with the intensity of it…yet still it was tinged with sadness and - what was that? - frustration.

Reading InuYasha's true emotions through his changing scents was proving harder than she had thought. What did the scents of sadness and frustration mean? Was he sad about Kikyo, or about her? Was he frustrated about his circumstances with the undead miko, or was he sad that he couldn't be with Kagome because of his honor-bound commitment to Kikyo?

Reading his moods was one thing. Interpreting them was another. It was all so frustrating!

She had heard the hanyou whimpering “Kikyo” over and over as she lay against him…and it brought tears to her eyes…yet, just as she had long ago promised him she would remain at his side as long as he allowed it, she would not abandon him now in his hour of need.

At least now she could tell that InuYasha was capable of responding to her. Kikyo hadn't succeeded in driving that out of him. And she had managed to break the spell that was on him. She might not be sufficiently trained to fully divine everything about the enchantment, but she had determined that its purpose was to keep the hanyou from responding to her. “So you're getting personal now, huh, Kikyo?”

Kagome continued to pretend she was asleep as she rolled over to face away from InuYasha. “I'll give you a break, InuYasha.” One thing bothered her, though. While she had determined that she had broken (or was well on her way to breaking) the spell of impotence Kikyo had placed upon the hanyou, she wasn't sure yet what she could do about InuYasha's other problem. If she remembered correctly, the cure for it was based in actual sex.

She found that the thought both frightened and excited her. “Stop it,” she thought. “I'll be having erotic dreams.” She decided she would research the hanyou's other problem - the one that had caused him to “explode” so quickly into her hand - the next time she got home, and started to drift off.

InuYasha almost sighed in relief when Kagome rolled away from him. At last he could get some sleep!

In just a few minutes, Kagome heard a gentle snoring coming from behind her. “Goodnight, InuYasha,” she thought. “At least thinking about Kikyo helps me keep my own scent in check.” A few minutes later, the miko was asleep, too.

******************

What was that?

Sango woke to light shuffling sounds. At first she thought it was the perverted monk attempting to sneak up on her again, but it wasn't. The houshi was still asleep on the other side of the campfire.

So what was making the noise? She realized it was coming from where Kagome was sleeping, behind her. As silently as she could, she rolled over to face Kagome.

Her eyes went wide.

In the dim light from their campfire, the taijiya could see that someone had crawled into Kagome's sleeping bag. She knew it wasn't Shippo. The kitsune was back at the village. As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she was finally able to make out long, silver hair.

InuYasha?

Apparently the sound she had heard was InuYasha and Kagome rolling around together in the miko's sleeping bag.

Sango felt her breath catch and was glad no one could see her own reaction to what her two friends were doing. She stared intensely at the pair as they proceeded to wrap themselves around each other.

Beside her, she heard a soft mewing sound and glanced at Kirara. The fire cat was up and staring at the two, sniffing the air as she did so. Finally, Kirara turned two circles and settled down, lying against the taijiya, as if she accepted and approved of what was going on.

“I wonder if they'll wake up that way,” thought the taijiya. “Could be interesting.”

She smiled, rolled over and went back to sleep. Just before falling asleep, which wasn't easy, she heard InuYasha's voice moaning, “Kagome.” The taijiya smiled.

******************

Kagome didn't want to wake up. She was dreaming that she and InuYasha were having a heavy make-out session, they had gotten to the point her friend Eri called dry humping and Kagome was enjoying it. She held onto InuYasha and ground her pelvis into him, reveling in the delicious sensation of his hardness rubbing against her.

In the back of her mind, she knew her scent was spiking, but this was a dream and InuYasha would never know.

******************

InuYasha was dreaming and he knew it…because only in his dreams could he indulge his fantasies about Kagome. Only in his dreams could he delight in the sensation of rubbing against her and getting ready to make love with her. He was incredibly hard and, by the mewling sounds that were coming from Kagome, he knew she was enjoying it, too.

His dream was so real. He could feel her heat. He could smell her arousal as her scent spiked so powerfully! He pushed against her and felt her leg and arms wrap around him.

Were those nipples he felt pressed against his chest? He rocked together with her.

Too bad it was all a dream.

******************

Kagome awoke, shuddering. It wasn't the first time she'd had an orgasm while dreaming about InuYasha. As her breathing returned to normal, she thought, “What a dream!”

Finally she managed to get her eyes to open. InuYasha's closed eyes were inches from her own.

Quickly, she assessed her situation. Her arms were wrapped around the hanyou. The hanyou's arms were wrapped around her. Her leg was wrapped around InuYasha and there was something - hard - pressed against her…

“Eeeeeeeep, she thought. She barely managed to keep silent.

“Oh no,” she thought. “My scent!” With growing horror, Kagome realized the sleeping bag smelled like sex. She realized that, in their sleep, she and InuYasha must have experienced what Sango had described: their scents must have been spiking against each other, causing them to respond to each other in their sleep.

She watched as the hanyou's nose began to twitch. She began to panic. He's going to wake up!”

What could she do? She looked around wildly. “There!” she thought. She carefully unwrapped one arm from around InuYasha, picked up a small rock and launched it at the sleeping Kirara's butt.

For once, she got lucky. There was a roar as Kirara transformed into her larger self and pivoted in different directions, looking for the source of her irritation.

Immediately, the hanyou was on his feet, the Tetsusaiga drawn and transformed, and InuYasha was looking with Kirara for the source of the attack.

…although, he noted, there didn't seem to be any attack.

He had jumped up so quickly that he wasn't sure where his dream ended and reality began. He had the distinct impression that he had just been in Kagome's arms…but, then again, he had been dreaming that he was in Kagome's arms. Oddly, despite being focused on locating their attacker, when he sniffed in Kagome's direction, he was almost knocked over by Kagome's scent.

And while he had smelled her strong arousal scent before (he knew she had erotic dreams), this smell was so intoxicating that he was dizzy. “If only she dreamed about me that way.”

What to do? It was not quite dawn, yet the stars were beginning to disappear from the eastern sky. He looked, in turn, at Miroku and Sango. Bother were awake and waiting for his word.

“Feh. There ain't no one out there.” InuYasha glanced at the fire cat. “Kirara must have had a dream.”

The fire cat looked back at him, then settled back down with Sango.

Of course, he couldn't exactly climb back in with Kagome. Not after the dream he'd been having. He looked down at the girl and for a second wondered what was wrong with the scene. Her nightshirt had ridden up and, even if Miroku and Sango couldn't see her clearly in this light, he could.

“You lied! You are wearing underwear!”

Miroku smirked at InuYasha. Now, this was interesting.

Sango looked to Kagome, who scurried back into the sleeping bag, pulled the cover over her head and refused to come out.

Sango didn't blame her.

Both Miroku and Sango turned their attention to the hanyou, who was finally realizing what he had said and what it sounded like. “M-Maybe I'd better make sure there's nothing there.” As quick as a wink, the flustered hanyou was gone.

Miroku and Sango turned back to Kagome. It sure looked like she wouldn't be emerging anytime soon.

The monk and the taijiya looked at each other, shrugged and lay down to get a few extra winks before they had to get up again.

******************

InuYasha still hadn't returned.

It was full light out. Sango had finished rebuilding the fire and started a pot of water heating. She had sent the monk on an errand so she and Kagome could have a few minutes to talk. “He'll come back.”

Kagome looked up anxiously. “What if he doesn't? I wanted to find out if Kikyo had really made InuYasha impotent, so I told a little lie about how my nightshirt was all I was wearing and how he shouldn't accidentally expose me in the morning.” Kagome noticed the taijiya looked like she was about to explode. “It wasn't true, Sango. I had other things on, but I lied to see if he'd respond.”

Sango settled down. “Did he?”

Kagome blushed. “Yeah.” She looked around nervously as she noticed her own scent spiking at the memory. Quickly, she thought about Kikyo and her scent began returning to normal, albeit a little sad. An odd look came to her face as she noticed Sango's scent had gotten stronger, too. “You saw us, didn't you?”

Sango blushed and looked down. “Yes. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, but I heard something moving in the night and…”

Kagome held up her hand. “It's okay, Sango. You were right, by the way.”

“Kagome?”

“About how we'd respond to each other.”

“Ah.”

“I guess we were both asleep. The first I knew it had happened was when I woke up to find InuYasha's eyes inches away. Fortunately, they were closed and he was still asleep. I tossed a rock at Kirara to start all that commotion…hoping InuYasha would think everything that happened before he jumped up was a dream.”

“I guess you had to do something considering your, umm, position.”
Sango considered the likelihood of what Kagome had suggested. “He's pretty dense. He might think it was a dream.” The taijiya brightened. “At least you found out InuYasha still responds to you.”

Kagome looked down again and sighed. “He was probably dreaming about Kikyo.”

“I don't know…”

“Sango?”

“I guess he was talking in his sleep.”

“Sango!”

Both the girls looked up. Miroku and InuYasha were returning to camp together.

“What did he say?” whispered Kagome.

“Your name.”

“…”

******************

They were finishing breakfast.

Sango wondered whether it was her imagination or was Kagome positively doting on InuYasha? The girl was sitting beside the hanyou, doing all the flirty things girls did when they were interested in a boy - touching, smiling - and it was clear the hanyou was enjoying the extra attention, even if he was a little embarrassed by it.

She had returned to wearing her school uniform for the day, so no daring clothes, but still that outfit had an obscenely short skirt. For a moment, Sango found herself speculating over whether she could ever wear anything that short.

<SLAP>

Miroku rubbed his cheek. “What was that for?”

“For what you would be thinking!” spluttered the taijiya.

Miroku was confused, but decided - wisely - not to pursue it.

Sango watched as Kagome sat beside InuYasha. It was obvious she was making sure her bare thigh remained in contact with the hanyou. The taijiya made a mental note to talk with her friend about it the next time they had a little privacy.

******************

It was two hours later and the day was finally starting to warm a bit. InuYasha and Miroku had scouted on ahead, while - in a rare instance - Kagome and Sango rode Kirara well behind the two boys.

This last bit was by Sango's design. She had wanted to talk with her friend in the worst way. “What were you doing back there?”

“Sango?”

“You were actually flirting with InuYasha. I thought you didn't want him to know about…well…” Sango tapped her nose.

“I think I'm getting it under control, Sango. As I get used to his scent and how it changes with his emotions, the more I can control my own reactions. I guess I was testing myself.”

“I see. Just be careful, okay?”

“I will.”

“Girls!”

Sango and Kagome looked down to where Miroku was standing below them.

“InuYasha says to wait here!”

Kirara settled down to earth and the girls slid off. Kirara transformed back into her kitten form and jumped up onto the taijiya's shoulder. “Did he say why?” asked Sango.

“Yes. His brother is coming.”

“Oh boy,” thought Kagome.

A/N: There's another old saying about pride going before a fall. Maybe Kagome shouldn't assume she's getting everything under control. What will happen when she meets Sesshomaru and, after that, Kikyo or Naraku? And what else will Kagome convince herself she has to do to “save” InuYasha?
