Kagome Smells - The Eyes Have It
By Majicman55
Disclaimer: I do not own any part of InuYasha. I just like to play with the characters.
A small, toad-like creature carrying a staff topped by two mummified heads hurried through tall grass that reached well above its waist. Given the breeze rippling through the field, the resulting scene gave an impression of the imp's head bobbing among ocean waves, perhaps before disappearing for the last time. “Lord Sesshomaru! Lord Sesshomaru!”
The Great Lord of the Western Lands sighed. “What is it, Jaken?”
The creature bowed deeply before its master. “M'lord! I do believe we will soon encounter InuYasha and his party!”
It would be beneath the taiyoukai to roll his eyes, so he merely stated what his retainer had missed. “This Sesshomaru detected InuYasha some time ago and has been moving to intercept him.”
“Y-You have, m'lord?” The imp quickly recovered. “Of course, m'lord. I should have known, m'lord.”
“Jaken?”
“M'lord?”
“Where is Rin?”
Jaken turned white. Turning green was not an option. He was already green. “She is with Ah-Un, m'lord.”
Sesshomaru looked across the field in front of him. “InuYasha should be appearing at any time. You should be with Rin.”
“Y-Yes, m'lord.” Jaken hurried off to protect his master's ward.”
Sesshomaru watched the imp run to obey his command. “I'm getting soft,” he thought as he picked up a rock and chucked it at Jaken.
<THUNK>
“Y-Yes, m'lord! I'll hurry, m'lord!”
Sesshomaru turned his attention back to the field just as his brother appeared on the other side. “So, InuYasha, we meet again.”

“But he said to wait here.” Miroku held his two arms apart as if forming a barrier the girls wouldn't be able to cross.
It didn't work…especially when Kagome smelled InuYasha's blood. “They're fighting again,” announced the miko as she pushed past the monk. “If you think you're keeping me away, you're a baka.”
For a moment Miroku wondered how Kagome knew the brothers were fighting, but then remembered that the brothers always fought. “She simply assumed they were fighting, as usual.” He watched as Sango hurried past him, following Kagome. As he watched the taijiya's retreating bottom, another thought entered his lecherous head. “Better follow,” he thought, hand twitching.
******************
When Kagome emerged into the clearing where InuYasha and Sesshomaru were fighting, she was relieved to see that no serious damage had been done - yet. Both combatants had numerous small cuts, but no one had put their claws through the other's guts.
“Kagome!” cried InuYasha. “I told Miroku to keep you guys back!” The hanyou waved Tetsusaiga before him in defense, keeping his brother back while he spoke with the miko.
“As if,” said Kagome. She was not stupid, however, and confined herself to the edge of the field of combat.
Just then, Sango, followed by Miroku, appeared behind Kagome. It was the distraction Sesshomaru needed and he took advantage, striking out with tokijin.
Unseen by anyone, the Great Lord of the Western Lands pulled his strike back ever-so-slightly. He would never tell InuYasha - at least not yet - but he had lost his desire to kill the hanyou. He had not, however, lost his desire to maim him. Besides, InuYasha just might be useful in disposing of the pest, Naraku, and he could always rid himself of the mongrel later.
“Die, InuYasha!” Okay, he couldn't resist yelling that.
Unfortunately, InuYasha had decided to lean slightly forward at exactly the wrong time and…
<THWOKK>
The hanyou dropped his katana and slumped forward, clutching his face. Blood was flowing freely between his fingers.
“InuYasha!” Kagome was at his side in a flash.
Just as quickly, she found herself lifted off the ground by the taiyoukai. Momentarily, she was eye-to-eye with him.
“Why do you interfere, miko?”
“Can't you see InuYasha is incapable of fighting?” she cried. Knowing that the Great Lord of the Western Lands valued strength and self-control, she calmed herself. “Surely it would be beneath Lord Sesshomaru's honor to kill a blind opponent.”
The taiyoukai paused. The girl was smarter than his brother. A lot smarter. “Indeed.” He looked at the hanyou, collapsed before him, having fallen unconscious. “You are right, miko. This Sesshomaru will…”
A curious look appeared on the taiyoukai's face. He leaned forward and sniffed Kagome.
“Oh no! He can tell!” she thought.
“There is something…” The Great Lord of the Western Lands held the girl nose-to-nose and sniffed again. “You've got to be kidding.”
“L-Lord Sesshomaru?”
The taiyoukai glanced at the prone hanyou and then back to the girl. “How did this happen? You will tell this Sesshomaru.”
Kagome related the story of how she had gotten InuYasha's blood into cuts on her nose and how it had healed her and then given her InuYasha's youkai sense of smell. She finished by begging Lord Sesshomaru not to tell InuYasha about her acquired ability.
“Hn.”
“I asked Kaede if she knew a way to rid me of this ability, but she couldn't help me.” Suddenly Kagome brightened a little. “You don't know a way, do you?”
“Of course this Sesshomaru knows a way.” Before Kagome could blink, the taiyoukai had set her down and placed one claw against her cheek, just below her eye. “All I have to do is remove your nose.”
“Eep! No, thank you,” said Kagome as she drew back. She felt a sting below her eye.
“You are lucky, miko, that I was not generating poison when you did that. You would be dead now.” Sesshomaru glanced towards his brother. “He will be able to see again within hours. If you wish, you may tend to him now.”
“Thank you, Lord Sesshomaru.” Kagome's eyes widened slightly as she saw Jaken and Rin, riding Ah-Un, emerge from the woods to join Sesshomaru. Her eyes widened even more as she detected a scent coming from the taiyoukai at Rin's approach.
At least she assumed it was at Rin's approach. The thought of the cause being Jaken gave her the willies. Then Rin slid down off the two-headed dragon, ran up to the Great Lord of the Western Lands, and the scent became much more powerful. Kagome smiled in partial relief, but then turned serious. “You are treating her properly?”
“Hn?”
Kagome tapped her nose. “I can smell you, you know.”
Lord Sesshomaru remained stoic, but his anger was evident in his voice. “Be very careful of what you suggest, miko. Rin is my ward. Nothing else.”
“I…see.”
Rin smiled at Kagome.
“Come along, Rin.”
“Yes, Lord Sesshomaru!” Rin hurried after Lord Sesshomaru, but not before looking back at Kagome and giving her a wink. “Coming, Lord Sesshomaru!”
“She has plans for him at her age?” thought the miko. “I think you're going to have your hand full in a few years, Sesshomaru.” She shook her head and knelt beside InuYasha, peeling the hanyou's hands away so she could examine his eyes.
“How is he?” asked the monk. He and the taijiya had come forward when Lord Sesshomaru left.
“The wound is no more serious than when Lord Sesshomaru pulled the pearl from InuYasha's eye…only both eyes are wounded.” The miko set forth upon cleaning the hanyou's face of blood so she could bandage him.
But Kagome had forgotten the tiny cut below her eye, the result of Sesshomaru's claw nicking her. She still had InuYasha's blood on her hand as she wiped the sweat from her eyes. Sango gave a small start as she realized what the miko had done.
Maybe it won't happen again,” thought Sango. “What are the chances of it happening again?”
When she looked back, the cut below Kagome's eye was gone.
******************
A half hour later, the group was on its way again. This time, the girls were leading the way, with the monk leading Kirara…InuYasha astride her back.
“Feh! This is embarrassing.”
“You wanted to keep going,” Kagome called back.
“But what if we run into a youkai? I can't protect you!”
Sango answered that one. “We're just as likely to run into one sitting still as moving…so shut up.”
“Keh.” InuYasha didn't complain too much. He could feel a tingling in his eyes that indicated he would be able to see again soon. In the meantime, he would just have to use his nose and ears as best he could. He turned his head this way and that, alternating between sniffing and listening intently.
<WHUMP>
A string of curses came from the hanyou as he lay on the ground.
“Sorry, InuYasha,” said a sheepish Miroku. “I guess I should have warned you about that branch.”
Sango used the commotion to take Kagome's arm and lead her forward, increasing their separation from the boys. “Have you noticed anything different, Kagome?”
“Different? What would be different, Sango?”
“About your eyes.”
“…?”
“I saw you rub InuYasha's blood in that cut below your eye.”
Kagome touched her cheek. “The cut, it's gone.”
“Have you noticed a difference in your vision?”
Kagome looked worried. This was all she needed. Had she noticed a difference in her eyesight? She looked around. Things did look a little sharper, but that could be her imagination. She had always had good eyesight and never needed glasses, so how much better could her vision get, anyway? “Not…yet.”
Sango looked back along the trail and noticed the boys catching up. “We'll talk more, later.”
“Okay.”
******************
Aside from the encounter with Sesshomaru, the day had been uneventful. After they made camp for the evening, Kagome removed InuYasha's bandages and the hanyou discovered he could see again. Not perfectly, yet, but well enough to get around and even fight if he had to. If his healing powers worked as usual, he'd have his perfect vision back by morning.
Since he wouldn't be doing any hunting for their supper this evening, Sango and Miroku had made a campfire and Kagome was preparing ramen for them all.
At the moment, Kagome was bent over the cooking pot and facing away from the hanyou.
InuYasha wondered if Kagome knew how desirable she was making herself…bent over like that, her butt swaying slightly as she stirred the pot of ramen, those legs - toned from their travels - going on forever until they disappeared into her ridiculously short skirt…
******************
Kagome bustled around, making dinner. She was stirring the pot of ramen when she finally noticed a certain spicy scent above the smell of dinner. “InuYasha?”
She reviewed her situation. The hanyou was behind her. She was bent over a pot of ramen. It reminded her of when she had been bent over that flower, the wind had blown her skirt up and she had smelled InuYasha's arousal. “Oh no…”
Maybe she was wrong, though.
There was one way to find out.
She swayed her hips a little more…and almost gasped out loud at the sudden increase in InuYasha's scent. She pulled herself together. It was a good thing the hanyou couldn't see her face!
Kagome thought about what she should do. Her mother had raised her to be a good girl - and the testing of InuYasha she had done was to determine if Kikyo had been playing dirty - yet there was a part of her that enjoyed getting a rise out of the hanyou. Did it make her a bad girl? Since she only enjoyed teasing InuYasha, she thought not.
She looked around. Sango and Miroku were off collecting, respectively, berries and firewood.
While she had dressed in her normal schoolgirl uniform that morning, she had, for the first time, worn a thong. Her friend Yuki called it “butt floss.” In her current position, all she'd have to do is bend over a little more and…
She gulped.
Nervously, she bent forward with her butt high in the air.
The resulting spike in InuYasha's scent made her so dizzy, she started falling into the fire. Dimly, she heard a sudden rush and InuYasha's arms were around her waist, pulling her back from the fire…and pulling her against himself.
Against something very hard.
Kagome gasped aloud as she smelled her own scent spiking wildly.
There was the sudden clatter of firewood being dropped.
“Hiraikotsu!”
******************
“Did you have to knock him out cold like that?” asked a worried, practically in tears, Kagome.
“It looked like he had jumped you, Kagome,” said the taijiya. “I didn't know what he was going to do to you.”
“But it's my fault!”
“Kagome?”
“I was…flirting, again. I thought I had everything under control, but his scent was so strong, I got dizzy and was falling into the fire. InuYasha saved me.”
“Oh.”
There was a groan from InuYasha as he rolled over onto his back. “What did ya have to do that for?”
“It looked like you were attacking Kagome.”
“Keh! You know I'd never do that!”
“Ummm,” continued a flustered Sango. “Not to hurt her. More like you were forcing yourself on her.”
InuYasha thought about the position he and Kagome had been in, what he had seen just before he had to jump up and grab her, and what their position must have looked like to the taijiya. The facts that he could smell both his and Kagome's arousal and that he had found himself actually thinking about doing that with her made his reaction to Sango's suggestion even more pronounced.
You could see the blush even in his ears.
“Feh! I would never force myself on Kagome!” With that, the hanyou leaped up into the nearest tree and the two girls heard him leaping on into the distance.
“Kagome! Sango!”
Both girls looked away from where InuYasha had disappeared to seen Miroku approaching with berries. He looked to where the girls had been staring. “Did I miss something?”
******************
Kagome sat quietly on her sleeping bag. The lure of ramen being too great, InuYasha had returned after just a few minutes. When Sango had tried to apologize, the hanyou had said simply that he “didn't want to talk about it.”
The thing that had Kagome's attention now was her sight. It was getting dark, yet she could still see…after a fashion. She supposed she should have known it would be like this. Everything was in black and white, with a little color near sources of light, like campfires.
With the coming of night, InuYasha had retreated to the trees. He certainly wasn't going to join her in her sleeping bag again soon - not after getting conked by Sango, anyway. Kagome actually wished she had InuYasha's hearing, too, as it would have helped her pinpoint his location. But then she wished she didn't have any of his powers.
Where was he?
She crawled into her sleeping bag. Sango was already asleep, with Kirara beside her. The monk looked asleep, too, although it was hard to tell with him because he would keep moving towards the taijiya throughout the night.
A few minutes later, Kagome was almost asleep when she detected InuYasha's spicy scent…and it was nearby!
Pretending to still be asleep, Kagome rolled onto her back. The scent lessened, and then returned. She kept her eyes mostly shut, opening them only enough to see up into the trees above.
“InuYasha,” she thought. She could just pick him out directly above and high above her…but what was he doing?
Whatever it was, the motion was very agitated. The more she observed, the more it became obvious what the hanyou was doing…and the more it affected her.
She began to realize that her own scent was spiking. She reached down inside her sleeping bag and checked what she already knew.
She was very wet.
With her other hand, she held the sleeping bag tightly around herself. Maybe it would hold in some of the scent. Maybe InuYasha would be so caught up in what he was doing that he wouldn't notice she was responding to him.
She couldn't let him find out!
Yet she couldn't take her eyes off him as he played with himself above her.
Her breathing became erratic. Suddenly she realized what she was doing to herself inside the sleeping bag.
“Oh, no…”
A/N: Looks like Kagome doesn't have everything under control, after all. Nope. And now she has another youkai sense as a result of her meeting with Sesshomaru. What will happen when they run into Kikyo or Naraku? And what's this? Kagome is starting to tease InuYasha because she likes teasing him?
