Luke Skywalker, Higurashi Kagome, and Sesshomaru leave the Ewok
village . . .
After they leave the village and they are walking among the
trees.
"Luke, thank you for letting me come with you." Kagome says as
she tries to start a conversation.
A pause . . .
"I don't see where I could have stopped you, Kagome." Luke
replies. "And, if I did try, who knows what might have happened.
This way, the worst that can happen is I die. The attack on the
shield generator still occurs."
Kagome grimaces, but nods. ‘How much can I tell him? I can't tell
him everything that will change the future.'
She shakes her head violently, ‘no . . . I do not want to think
about time paradoxes, now. Later, not now.'
"Higurashi Kagome?" Sesshomaru asks, as he sees her violent head
shake.
"Oh, nothing, Sesshomaru, just an idea that won't work." She
quickly replies.
"Luke." She says in an intense tone, "remember that your friends
will succeed and your father still has some good in him."
Luke, stops walking, turns and looks at her. "Your special
knowledge?"
Kagome grimaces, but she nods.
A pause as Luke stares at her. He grimaces, "The force . . . " he
shakes his head. "Both of you . . . "
"What, Luke?" Kagome asks.
"You and your consort." Luke nods to Sesshomaru, "You affect the
force, and bend it in ways that I . . . that I cannot translate
into words."
Kagome nods. "I thought we might, Luke. We come from a different
place. An . . . an alternate universe, I think."
Luke slowly nods. "That might explain it." He starts to walk
again. "And that special knowledge?"
"In my universe, this is a story." Kagome waves at the forest. "I
know the ending, but, my being here changes the story. And . . .
If I say too much, the ending might change."
Luke purses his lips, "I see. A good ending?"
Kagome doesn't say a thing, but she does smile at him.
Luke smiles back. He takes a deep breath and lets it out.
"Believe in my friends and my father." He states.
Kagome whispers, "of course, who else can you believe in."
Luke walks for a few seconds, then he says, "Thank you, Kagome."
"Thank you, Luke Skywalker."
"Higurashi Kagome." Sesshomaru interrupts, "One mentioned that
his training might help us?"
Kagome nods to Sesshomaru, "thank you, Sesshomaru."
She turns to Luke, "Luke, can I ask you a question?"
Luke nods, "of course."
"We are from a different universe." Kagome begins, "Did Yoda or
Obi-wan teach you anything about them?"
Luke stops and stares at Kagome again. "How much do you know
about my life and my friends?"
Kagome shrugs, "less than you might think, Luke." She smiles at
him, "I know the story, but I never paid attention to all the
details. I know of people that would know more."
She giggles, "I know a couple of girls in school, that would
probably be draped all over you, trying to get you to make love
to them, right here, right now."
Luke blushes.
"Can you help?" Sesshomaru growls at Luke.
Luke looks at Sesshomaru. He shakes his head, no. "Yoda
concentrated on the basic skills. He did give me some storage
discs with Jedi Knight training and philosophy lessons, but I
have not had the time to read and understand even a fraction of
those lessons."
"Nothing." Sesshomaru growls. "The metal man and this human did
not help."
"Sesshomaru." Kagome growls back, "we didn't know that, Ok. So,
we had to try."
"And it didn't work, Miko Higurashi Kagome." He frowns. "There is
something huge approaching." He says.
He stops and points, "off in that direction."
Luke nods, "An Imperial Walker, probably." He turns to walk in
that direction.
Kagome follows him.
"Miko Higurashi Kagome, why are you following him? There is no
reason to stay." Sesshomaru asks in a somewhat peeved tone.
Kagome's footsteps pause as she thinks, ‘why? Meet Darth Vader?
And do what? Luke and I can destroy him. I'm quite sure of that.
But . . . that changes the story. What would the emperor do when
he hears that Vader is dead or, maybe, changed?'
She grimaces, ‘I know what I would do, if I was the emperor. I'd
move a star destroyer next to the shield generator and use those
huge guns to destroy all the trees and wildlife around the shield
generator. And then kill anything that tries to cross that
killing ground. In the story, he wanted to trick the rebels, with
Vader dead . . . will he take that chance? And can I take it the
chance that he'd make a mistake?'
‘No. I can't.' Kagome licks her lips. She slumps, ‘so, we leave
and vanish into the forest?'
Luke and Sesshomaru exchange a glance as they, almost, can see
the smoke rising from Kagome's ears, as she thinks . . .
Kagome sighs, as she continues her chain of thought, ‘No. We're
assuming that Vader and the Emperor can sense Sesshomaru and I.
SO, we can't vanish, and if we try to do so in the forest, who
knows how the Emperor will react? So, do we meet Darth Vader?
Yes, I think so. And do what?' she asks herself.
She answers herself, ‘convince him that bringing Luke up to the
death star is more important than chasing us. That way, he'll
leave us alone and he will not change the plans at the shield
generator.'
She pauses, then nods.‘Yes, something similar to what I did with
Eonwe, that should work.'
"Kagome?" Sesshomaru asks, gently.
Kagome grimaces, "Sesshomaru, I was thinking about how things
would change depending on how I use my knowledge." She sighs,
"I've had similar thoughts as I travel through time to your side
of the well."
Luke Skywalker raises his eyebrows at the ‘travel through time.'
statement.
"Ah." Sesshomaru replies, "And your decision?"
Kagome shakes her head, "Yes, pretty much the same as I do when
I'm with Inu-yasha. Try not to affect the past, since I don't
know what would happen. So . . . "
Kagome, after a pause, "Once I've meet Darth Vader, we'll leave.
And let the story play out as it did, because all of the options
I can see are worse."
She looks at Luke, "Between us, three, your father wouldn't stand
a chance and he'd be destroyed."
Luke pales, but as he opens his mouth to speak.
Kagome raises her hand to wave him silent and continues, "And,
between you and me, Luke, we could probably change your father
back to the good side of the force."
"What?" escapes Luke's lips.
Kagome nods. "My powers allow me to purify people. So, I can
remove or, at least, lessen the hold the dark side of the force
has on your father and you can complete bringing him back to the
positive side of the force."
Kagome sighs, "But, I can't, Luke. I can't interfere. If I do . .
. The Emperor will notice that your father has changed, I'm sure
of that. And that will change the story that I know."
"And in the new story, something bad might happen?" Luke quietly
asks.
Kagome nods, "in the story that I know, the good ending hung a
thread, and If I change anything." She trails off.
Luke stares at her. His eyes narrow. "That's why you want me to
believe in my friends and my father."
Kagome grimaces, "yes, you need to believe in them, that will
help you in the fight to come."
Luke nods, "The Emperor."
Kagome looks away and looks at the Death Star, "I thought about
Sesshomaru and I commandeering a shuttle, flying up to that, and
attacking the Emperor. But what would happen?"
"Why should this Sesshomaru wish to attack this Emperor?"
Sesshomaru asks.
Kagome spins around and glares at Sesshomaru, as she says,
"Because he's ev . . . " She closes her mouth and takes a deep
breath.
"You'll need a better reason than he's evil, won't you?" She
asks.
"As I asked earlier, Miko Higurashi Kagome, define evil?"
Sesshomaru replies. "This Emperor has done nothing to me. When I
attacked other foes, during our journey, they had offended me, to
one degree or another. They stole my weapons. They attacked this
Sesshomaru. They attacked you."
Kagome blushes. She looks sharply at him, "what about those
aliens on the ice world, Sesshomaru?"
Sesshomaru pauses, Kagome can sense his hesitation, but not Luke,
before he asks, "Do you really wish to know why I attacked them?"
Kagome, without thinking, nods, "of course."
Sesshomaru raises an eyebrow, "I attacked and killed those
creatures because I was upset at you . . . and killing them was
a way to get rid of my anger without killing you." He bluntly
states.
Kagome blushes and coughs, as she turns away from Sesshomaru.
"Sesshomaru, how do you define evil?" Luke asks, into the
embarrassed silence.
Sesshomaru looks at Luke, "Evil is that which does not work."
Luke glances at Sesshomaru. "What about killing people, isn't
that evil?"
Sesshomaru looks up and down Luke Skywalker, "I can smell burning
human flesh on you, human. You have killed recently. IF killing
is evil, then you are evil."
Luke pauses, "He was an imperial trooper and I was preventing him
from spreading the word that we're here."
Sesshomaru snorts, "IF killing is evil, then there is no way that
it can be changed into a good act. And killing a sentry is
stupid. He will be missed and the soldiers, even the horrible
ones that I've seen on this planet, that he is part of will be
alerted."
Luke pauses, "The emperor is oppressing and killing people all
across the galaxy. We are trying to free them from his
oppression. We are trying to, and will, restore the republic and
freedom across the galaxy!"
Sesshomaru looks at Luke, contempt colors his voice, "the Emperor
is defending himself against rebels, such as yourself. In
wartime, sacrifices may have to be made in order too win. If
there was no rebellion, would he be oppressing and killing his
people?"
Sesshomaru quickly answers his own question, "No. Doing so, is a
waste. You want the people that you rule over to be at peace, so
that the taxes can be collected, not, to rebel. Suppressing
rebels is wasteful."
Sesshomaru holds up his hand, stopping Luke and Kagome who were
both about to open their mouths to argue with Sesshomaru. "And if
the emperor makes such errors, and person that occupy's the
emperor's throne can, then you can replace the advisors around
the throne, so he gets better advice. Or you can replace the
emperor with a better one."
"No!" Luke interrupts, "We will replace him with the republic,
not a new emperor."
"And a republic is?" Sesshomaru asks.
Kagome interrupts with, "The people will choose who rules them,
by voting on various candidates. It's how the government is run
where I live as well, Sesshomaru."
"Humans?" Sesshomaru asks in puzzlement, "choosing who rules
them? That's idiotic. But, then again, humans are idiots, so I
suppose that would be how that they might rule themselves."
"It is not idiotic. It is the best form of government there is."
Luke states, absolute surety shines in his voice. Kagome nods in
agreement with Luke.
"How is it the best?" Sesshomaru asks in honest puzzlement. He
quickly continues, "Under such a scheme, the most popular idiot
rules, correct?"
Luke and Kagome nod. "They are not idiots." Luke adds.
Sesshomaru snorts in Luke's direction. He looks off to one side,
"We will have to finish this conversation soon. That huge thing
that I'm hearing has turned toward us."
Luke looks off in that direction. His eyes unfocus. "Yes. Their
sensors have located us. We've got a few minutes before they
arrive." He says in a soft, distracted sounding voice.
Sesshomaru and Kagome nod. Sesshomaru begins to speak, "In order
to be popular, an idiot will promise things, like lowering taxes.
Giving away free or very cheap food. Perhaps promises of more
holidays and festivals to entertain the other human idiots."
"This is not good government." Sesshomaru continues, "Government
should be guiding, instructing or ordering the people to do what
is needed."
He glares at Luke, "Was training to be a soldier easy?"
Luke shakes his head, no.
"Then you should understand, without someone above you directing
you, most humans," He nods to Kagome, "There are exceptions, but
most humans will do what is easy and pleasing, not the hard
things necessary to survive."
He pauses, "And anything that puts popular above the necessary,
will fail." He snorts, "you said that you are going to restore
the republic, so it's already failed once."
"The republic survived for thousands of years, Sesshomaru." Luke
growls out, "And we will fix it so that nobody can ever name
himself emperor again."
Sesshomaru snorts, ignoring Luke.
CRASH!!
The four-legged large Imperial Walker smashes through the smaller
trees and bushes.
"HALT!" the loudspeaker on it cries out. "MOVE AND YOU WILL BE
DESTROYED!"
Kagome places her hand on Sesshomaru's arm, stopping him. "We'll
go along, for now, Sesshomaru. We can escape at any time, so,
don't get angry." She whispers.
Sesshomaru sighs, "only for you, my dear." He whispers back to
her.
She blushes, "I am sorry, Sesshomaru. I feel . . . bad . . .
for forcing you into situations that I know that you hate, but .
. . "
"You feel it is necessary." Sesshomaru whispers to her. "I can
survive."
‘I'll make it up to him, whenever we get some privacy.' Kagome
thanks, as she smiles at him.
The Imperial Walker stops perhaps twenty meters from the three of
them. A door opens on the bottom of the walker and a group of
men, descends.
A few seconds later.
"Who are you?" the Imperial commander growls at Luke Skywalker,
Higurashi Kagome and Sesshomaru.
Luke steps up and says, "I am Luke Skywalker, you will be looking
for me."
The commander's eyes open wide. His blaster and many of the other
men point their blasters at Luke. "Don't move." The commander
yells.
"I'll come freely." Luke holds out his hands, his wrists crossed.
"And you two?" The commander demands after he ties up Luke's
wrists.
"I am Higurashi Kagome. This is my consort, Sesshomaru, Lord of
the Western Lands. Lord Vader will be expecting us."
"Bounty-hunters?" the Commander asks, ‘did they capture
Skywalker?'
Kagome smiles, "No. But he'll want to see us."
"Tie up their hands." The commander orders.
Sesshomaru growls. "Touch me and die. Touch her and die slowly
and horribly."
All the Imperial Storm Troopers look at Sesshomaru. Even wearing
armor, Kagome can see knees shake.
Luke waves his fingers as he softly speaks, "you don't need to
tie them up."
The Commander repeats, "I don't need to tie them up."
Luke continues, "they are to meet Darth Vader, as they are."
The commander repeats, "They are to meet Darth Vader, as they
are."
"Let's go back to the shield generator." Luke softly says.
"Let's go back to the shield generator." The Commander repeats.
Later . . .
In the Imperial Walker . . .
All of the imperial storm troopers, due to Luke's influence, are
ignoring him, Kagome and Sesshomaru.
"What was the trick you preformed, Luke Skywalker?" Sesshomaru
asks.
"A jedi mind trick, why?" Luke.
"This Sesshomaru believes that it would be a good thing if the
Miko HIgurashi Kagome and this Sesshomaru learns it."
"Why?" Kagome asks before luke can.
"Because, my consort, it is a nonviolent solution to the
stupidity of humans. I can change their minds, instead of
removing their heads." Sesshomaru explains.
Sesshomaru thinks, ‘Mind control has never interested me in the
past, but this seems to be a simple trick. And it will prevent
Kagome from complaining about killing people.'
Kagome smiles, and looks at Luke. "Yes, I can see where it would
be useful."
Luke stares at Sesshomaru. "I don't know. You've made it obvious
that you would use it against most people, and that's not what
it's for."
Sesshomaru glares at Luke, "Then I will try it on my own."
He concentrates and expands his power. A wave of power engulfs
one of the nearby Storm trooper. "Stand." Sesshomaru commands.
The Storm Trooper instantly stands. He grabs his head and
screams.
He falls to the floor of the Imperial Walker . . . dead.
Sesshomaru purses his lips, "Humans are weak. I must remember
that."
"I'll teach you." Luke exclaims as he uses his powers to calm
everyone down.
Kagome shakes her head, slowly . . .
Later . . .
At the Shield Generator . . .
Kagome has her camera out and ready, as they wait by the Walker.
"That is Darth Vader." Kagome whispers to Sesshomaru as she
watches the tall dark figure walk down the hall toward them.
She takes his picture.
He summons Luke and they talk, alone, for a few minutes.
Luke is lead further into the complex, headed to the Shuttle for
his trip up to the Death Star.
Darth Vader approaches Higurashi Kagome and Sesshomaru. The sound
of his powerful strides and the sound of his life-support system, causes Kagome to
smile.
"You are the two new force sensitive individuals that the Emperor located." Darth Vader begins
to speak. "Who are you?"
Kagome bows, "I am Higurashi Kagome. This is my consort, Sesshomaru, Lord of the Western
lands."
The black face mask of Darth Vader turns to Sesshomaru.
Neither powerful man moves for a timeless moment . . .
Power begins to crackle around Darth Vader . . .
Power begins to crackle around Sesshomaru . . .
"Don't forget me, Anakin Skywalker." Kagome whispers. "You'll also have to fight me."
Darth Vader turns to Kagome. "How did you know that name?"
Kagome's eyebrow raises, "I know much, Anakin Skywalker. IF you bring me before the
Emperor, many secrets will be revealed." She smiles, "can you risk your plans for Luke, because
of us?"
A timeless pause . . .
Kagome places her hand on Sesshomaru's arm. "After the coming battle, you may locate us and
then finish this challenge, if you wish. Or you may risk everything, now. Your choice, Anakin
Skywalker."
Darth Vader's life-support system breathes in and out . . .
"Commander, take these two out into the forest and leave them there." He orders.
He spins and stalks down the corridor, anger radiating from him.
Later . . .
In the Imperial walker . . .
"Will this Sesshomaru be challenged by that weakling?" he asks Kagome.
Kagome shakes her head. "IF everything happens, like it is supposed to. He dies in the battle."
Sesshomaru grunts. "He wasn't a challenge anyway."
Kagome smiles, but doesn't say a thing . . .
Later in the Imperial walker, after it has dropped off Kagome and Sesshomaru . . .
The imperial commander is on the radio. "Look. If we capture these two, we'll be rewarded. If
we kill them, we'll be rewarded."
The commander he is talking to replies, "My company is supposed to be reserves for the surprise
attack. I should say, no."
"But?"
"If we are reserves, we're not going to be in combat. And my boys want to be in the fight. So . . .
I will be there with my company."
"Good. We'll share the credit."
One of the companies of Storm Troopers will NOT attack the Ewoks and the Rebels at the
Shield Generator, making the final battle . . . a little less intense.
So, Kagome and Sesshomaru do help the rebels . . .
Later . . .
Sesshomaru glances up. "That Imperial Walker is approaching."
"Oh?" Kagome looks at the Death Star. "The final battle hasn't started. I would be seeing the
fight between the star ships."
"And a couple of smaller machines. Also, I can hear other machines and humans."
"How many?"
Sesshomaru shrugs. "One hundred men?"
Kagome frowns, "I don't sense Vader or the Emperor or Luke . . . I think some imperial
commander decided to attack us on his own."
Sesshomaru grunts. "Attack?"
"What else? Vader would have come alone to attack you. The Emperor would have sent more
troopers." Kagome replies.
Sesshomaru smiles as he pulls Tokijin.
Kagome pulls Jaa Kalpa.
"I'll take out the storm troopers, you can attack the Walker, Sesshomaru, is that ok?"
He grunts. "Acceptable."
Later . . .
The Walker stalks into a clearing.
Sesshomaru steps out from behind a tree. He swings his sword.
The Legs of the Imperial Walker shatter as the power of Tokijin hit them.
Kagome steps out from behind a tree. She swings her sword.
A platoon of Storm Troopers is turned into frozen statues.
The battle is over within seconds . . .
The Imperial Storm Troopers are cannon fodder . . .
"That wasn't a challenge." Sesshomaru declares as he stands over the destroyed Walker.
Kagome shrugs, "Not everything has to be a challenge, Sesshomaru."
The Death Star Explodes over there head . . .
"The story is over." Kagome points to the exploding Death Star. "The good guys won."
Sesshomaru sniffs. "They'll fail. Republics are a stupid idea."
later . . .
"Sesshomaru." Kagome is holding the cube. "Let's go onto the next world."
Sesshomaru nods.
They touch the cube and vanish.

Authors' note: Democracy and Sesshomaru . . . During the time frame of Inu-yasha (say 1550),
the closest thing to modern democracy was just beginning. The Dutch people of
Holland/Belgium were beginning to revolt against the Spanish. (Many of the ideas of the US
revolution, first appeared here, during this, 50 years or so, revolt.) The idea that people should
choose who rules them, as opposed to divine right of kings, was just beginning.
Authors' note: I am trying to speed up the storyline. So . . . yes, I know that I could have added
more. (Kagome & Sesshomaru revisit the village and the funeral of Anakin. I'll let, you the
reader, make the details of that. Nothing major happens, just talking. And since reviewers didn't
like all the talking in the Gilligan's island arc . . . I'm speeding things' up.)
Authors' note: If I do write the world set in Iraq in the 1920's, It will set up as an independent
chapter(s) that can be skipped. Sigh . . . but. Shakes head. We'll see.
Thank you for reading
