Keeper of my Heart

By Cyfris

Disclaimer: I don own nothing!! Go way!!

Ok, Ok, so I lied, the Shikon does end up in this story, but it makes it so much more interesting, ne? ::dodges rotten veggies and a duck::

Araya Nattawat <>Thank you muchly for telling me what Sesshoumaru's name means. And you're right; I can't imagine any one (even a youkai) naming their kid that. Oo

Frozen Tears <> all I have to say to you is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ MY FIC!!!! It said on the description thing that it is a SESSHOUMARU/KAGOME ROMANCE!!!! Read descriptions before you read the fics!

Me… <> I cant imagine any one finding this fic on FF.net because I don't have an account there. And thanks for that site address, its really cool.

Mkarlahoney <> thank you for the suggestion (I think I said that last chapter too, but I'm saying it again) and I will defiantly use it at some point in the story.

Mara-chan <> again, thank you for the offer; I would love it if someone could proofread this story because I'm really bad at that!

Lastly, I finally found out what Sesshoumaru's dad's name is, so I'll correct that. To everyone else, THAK YOU FOR THE REVEIWS!!!!! Now finally, on with the fic!!

Flames. All around her fire burned, turning the landscape into a high, orange and yellow wall of heat. Images floated in and out of her vision, shadows of Kikyou, Kaede, the other villagers. All gone. She fell to her knees, tears pouring down her cheeks. The flames licked her body, their heat searing her flesh. The blurred image of Kikyou floated in front of her, an accusing look on her face. "You said you'd be back!" she yelled in her face. "If you were here, we could have held him back!"

"I'm sorry." She whimpered. "I didn't mean to…"

"I'm sorry." Kikyou mocked. "It's too late now. Sorry won't bring us back."

"Go away! It's not my fault!!" she screamed.

The villagers swarmed around her, grabbing at her clothes and arms, their flesh burning her skin and clothes. "Your fault! Why weren't your there?!" they moaned, over and over.

"No! NOOO!!"

Kagome shot up, breathing heavily. Cold sweat made the yukata she was wearing cling to her skin. Her scream hung in the still air of the room. For a moment, she stared at her surroundings, only making sure there was no fire, no ghosts, no accusing villagers. Finally, after a few moments, she realized exactly what she was looking at, and exactly where she was.

The room was bare except for a low desk, a mirror, and the futon she was currently sitting on. Pushing the dream to the back of her head, she silently and slowly stood, the warm cotton yukata sticking to her skin. Absently, she wondered who might've changed her, and where her priestess kimono, bow and arrows were, as they were conspicuously absent from the room. She padded to the low window and peered out, surprised by the well-kept garden and, more importantly, just how big that garden was. Her eyes widened as she realized, first: she must be in a castle and, second: exactly who's castle it was.

Her suspicions were confirmed as the door to the room opened and a small, black and orange bundle came hurtling through, saying loudly "Kagome-nee-chan!! Kagome-nee-chan is finally awake! We can play now!!" she bounded at Kagome, who only just caught her and stopped herself from tumbling to the floor. Rin continued to ramble about something, but Kagome was only half listening. The rest of her attention was focused on the doorway. Or rather, who was standing in it.

"Rin," the imperialistic figure said calmly, though his piercing gold eyes remained on Kagome. "Go find Jaken and go play in the garden. Kagome will join you shortly." Rin looked confused from Kagome to Sesshoumaru, then nodded and happily skipped out of the room, calling Jaken's name.

The youkai lord softly shut the door behind her, and for a moment, silence filled the room. Kagome desperately wanted to look away from his stare, but the look in his eyes said all too clear "If you look away, you will be just as weak as all those other stupid ningens". Finally, he walked over to a wall and slid open a door. Many brightly colored kimonos were there, along with some other womanly nesseties.

"You will join us for dinner tonight. Wear one of these." He gestured to the kimonos. "One of the servants will come in two hours time to help you prepare. And don't bother trying to leave," he added. "Only members of my family may do so without a talisman. All others have a tendency to disappear and never come back if they do."

Sesshoumaru gave Kagome an odd look, something between contempt and curiosity, then he turned and left the room, shutting the door behind him with a snap.

::Cyfris peeks around a corner:: h-hi! Yes, well, I suppose you are all wondering what's been happening to `Keeper of my Heart'.

Well, long story short, I finished about half of chapter 3, and then it sat on my comp for months before I got around to it again, but I still had no inspiration. So, this fic in now permanently on hiatus until my muses get back to it. I will probably be putting up other stories, but I WILL NOT be updating this one. Constant reviews telling me to get my lazy ass in gear will not make me update, so don't bother.

So…yeah, sorry if I just made some of you really mad at me ::dodges rotten veggies again(phew, no ducks):: but that's the way the fanfic crumbles ^^;;

Ja na!
