Chapter 1
Away From You

“Osuwari” Kagome screamed.
Inuyasha's face plummeted to the ground, near the hot spring Kagome had planned on bathing in before Inuyasha caught Kouga's scent near Kagome's and jumped to conclusions.
“What'd ya do that for?” Inuyasha almost yelled, getting more angry by the minute. Why couldn't Kagome see that Kouga wasn't being harmless, he only wanted one thing from her and it would hurt her. He wanted to mate her, to fuckin' rut her like she was some stupid animal. She deserved more than that! That was the whole reason he hadn't claimed her, she deserved more than some stupid half-breed who could at any moment turn into a full youkai and kill her.
“I can't believe you're always so insensitive, why can't just admit that you're jealous of Kouga?” Inuyasha didn't understand, he's harmless, she knew what he wanted from her, but she couldn't give it to him. She was in love with Inuyasha. That was actually why she had talked to him that day. Inuyasha was out hunting and Miroku and Shippo had gone to gather firewood. Sango had decided to take a bath in the hot spring near their camp. She had sensed Kougas youki near, just out of Inuyasha's scent range. She decided to tell him that they would ever be, that her heart belonged to Inuyasha and that she was going to make a move later that day. Kouga had taken it pretty well, saying that it took an idiot to look at her and Inuyasha and not know they were in love. But he still had to try.
“Because, I'm not! Why would I be jealous of the mangy wolf?” Inuyasha's screaming brought her out of her trance.
“How should I know?! BUT YOU ARE!”
The spell began to wear off and Inuyasha picked himself up off the ground. “If damn wolf wants you he can have ya.” How could he say such things? She had brought him out there to tell him she loved him, but he had caught Kouga's scent before she could say it. So she did the only thing she could, she ran. Except she had no idea where she was or how to get back. Oops!
“Shouldn't you go after her, Inuyasha?” Miroku asked as he walked up with Sango and Shippo carrying buckets of water.
“Aah, let her go, she'll get over it.” Inuyasha replied
“I don't know, Inuyasha, she's pretty upset.” Sango added. Knowing exactly what her friend was going through. She and the Houshi had similar problems.
“Feh, whatever” he said as he got up.
Inuyasha sniffed the area.
“Where are you going? I thought you said you weren't going to go after her.” Miroku asked.
“Hunting, do ya want dinner or not, `cause I don't have to go!” He said with his, you-better-not-ask-any-more-questions look. They all knew he was going after Kagome.

“Kouga? What are you doing?” Kagome asked, shocked as she found herself in the presence of the wolf prince for a second time that day.
“Hunting, Woman, what are you doing here, and where's the mutt? I only agreed to let him have you if he took care of you. He's obviously not doing that if you're out here alone.”
“Why should I care what the fuck happened to Inuyasha? That stupid jerk!”
“WOW, the mouth on my woman, feisty, I like it.” Then a he had a thought.
“Look if you wanna continue hunting, that's your business, but buttt...” She started crying. One of the wolves walked up to Kouga.
“We found a small village, should I tell them to feed?”
“No, find some rabbits or something, no more killing for a few weeks, they're getting kinda fat.” He said as he was turning to face the wolf, Kagome still in tears.
“What's wrong with Kagome-nee-chan?” That made her cry even more. She was sure Inuyasha loved her, but who knows how long it will take him to admit it. But sitting in front of her was a man, oops a demon, who had loved her and still considers her a friend after all she had to him! Life was cruel.
“Can't you see my woman is upset? You Idiot!” She didn't bother to tell him that she wasn't his woman, it hurt to much.
“Come on woman.” Kagome sniffled and got up off the ground she had been sitting on moments before.
Kouga picked Kagome up and carried her off.
Kagome, getting a bit scared asked, “Kouga, where are you taking me?”
“....” When no answer came she began kicking and hitting Kouga's back “ANSWER ME!!!” “Where are you taking me?!”
“.....”
“Where”
“Kouga? What are you doing?” Kagome asked, shocked as she found herself in the presence of the wolf prince for a second time that day.

She continued kicked and hitting him. She thought of screaming for Inuyasha, `Why would he come rescue me? I'm his burden; he'd rather be with Kikyo. And even if he did rescue me, he'd only complain about how I can't take care of myself.'
Kagome began to realize where he was taking her. `He's taking me to his den.'
“Where almost there, my love.” Kouga said finally ending his long silence.
“Kouga, what are you doing?” Kagome screamed.

“Shouldn't Kagome be back Inuyasha?” Miroku asked.
“It's almost nightfall” Sango added.
“Yeah, Inuyasha, What'd you do to her anyways” the young kitsune asked.
“I didn't do anything to her, she just over reacted! That's all.” As he added his signature “Feh” to the end of the statement. He was worried, when he went hunting he hadn't come across her. Not even her scent.
“Well you obviously did something to her, `cause I can smell her in this time, but she's been gone all day!” Shippo countered.
“Look all I did was go with her to the hot spring like she asked me too! Smelt Kouga all over her, so I said something about it. She wouldn't tell me why she smelt like him so I got a little mad.”
“You did what, you idiot! I thought you called her a wench or something.” Miroku yelled.
“What's this `jump all over Inuyasha day' or somethin'” he paused “It's not like I hit her or somethin'!”
“But Inuyasha, you hurt her feelings and that the worst things you could EVER do to her. Even worse than physically hurting her” Miroku replied.
“Oh ya, why's that”
“Because, she loves you, so everything you say to her greatly impacts her.”
“What?” Inuyasha and Shippo both exclaimed. Kagome didn't love him, if she did she would be there, with him where she belonged, not out with that mangy wolf!
“Besides how...how could she love a stupid half-breed like me' He mumbled to himself.
“You gotta have lost your mind, Monk, she doesn't love ME.” he said voicing his opinions.
“Shouldn't Kagome be back Inuyasha?” Miroku asked.
“It's almost nightfall” Sango added.
“Yeah, Inuyasha, What'd you do to her anyways” the young kitsune asked.

“Hey watch it” Inuyasha said as he got up.
“Hey, where are you goin'?” Shippo asked
“I'm goin' to find Kagome, she knows better than to stay out after dark without me!”
He went back to the hot spring and took off in the area where Kagome had ran off, this time going a different direction. Soon he came upon her sweet, innocent, jasmine and honey mixed scent, it was interlaced with the salt of tears and as he went on, anger and then fear. About the time fear became apparent, so did Kouga's scent. He went running, Kouga had Kagome and she was scared about it, he had to save her!
