InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Last Hope ❯ Encounter ( Chapter 2 )
"Last Hope"
Disclaimer: I don't own anyone in this fic.
Niki aka Inu-ona: The red liquid does have something to do with how they can track her, but, that's not its purpose. I have a few chapters already written, but I'm still trying to sort out things. I really liked what you brought up about the story thing and Kagome's past, I'll definitely take that into consideration. ^__^
A/N: Thankies to the peoples who reviewed!

"Encounter"
Kagura ran faster, she could tell that they would catch up on the fleeing girl soon. It was expected that the three scientists would try to do something to "save" her from Naraku. Hell, Kagura couldn't see why though. They didn't even know what he was going to do with her, but then again nor did she really.
She was a bit confused on the direction they were heading though; she looked at the square device again. There was no doubt. The girl was heading east, toward Warui, but why? Warui was not the best place to be heading if you were a young girl that probably knew nothing of the world. Kagura was sure that she had companions, but it was obvious that they were idiots if they were bringing her there. On the thought of companions Kagura looked over her shoulder to make sure the morons that Naraku had sent with her for insurance that they got the girl were still there. To her disgust, they were, and not very far behind either.

Sango gripped Kagome's had as if it were her lifeline. Miroku lead the way, only about three feet in front of the two. Sango recognized the where they were heading, Miroku had to be crazy. But it was a good place to hide at least until the coast was clear. If they were being followed by someone it would be hard to find them in the maze of buildings a people, even if their pursuers had a tracking devise of sorts. The reception would probably cut down to only a few miles instead of at least a dozen or more.
"Miroku-san, where are we going?" Kagome asked between heaving breathes; she had really never run before. And she hadn't even walked for as long as she had just run and they were still going.
"That doesn't concern you right now, Kagome." Miroku noticed that she was tired, it didn't surprise him. Though he didn't know much about the human race he knew that they didn't have the endurance or speed of a youkai, which probably contributed to why their species had "died off". But right now he couldn't do anything to help Kagome really.
Kagome merely nodded in response to Miroku's answer. She wanted to stop running. Her legs were inflamed with a burning sensation, breathing was stressed and difficult, and the large coat she was dressed in did not help one bit. All it did was make her hot and sweaty.

Warui. A city that revolved around drugs, theft, sex, and money. It was strangely close to a several small "clean", per se, cities. It was located were Tokyo formally was. Originally the name "Warui" was merely a nickname that literally meant "bad", which indicated what the city had become and what its people were like.
The city's name was never officially changed though, but if someone asked where Tokyo was no one could tell them directions and the person asking the question would probably get a strange look. Warui was what everyone knew it as, if was even called that on maps and signs.
Most people didn't go to Warui unless they wanted trouble or were running from the law. The police didn't even bother anymore with trying to catch anyone who fled there. There were too many people and fugitives that finding the particular one would be nearly impossible. Many police were also scared to go there. If a cop came into town they weren't treated with respect of kindness of any sort, beating the living shit out of the police seemed to the residents' of Warui favorite pastime. Thus Warui was a safe haven for convicts and felons.
There were a few of the many people in Warui that had earned a name for themselves. Usually they were wanted convicts, whether they were wanted for theft or otherwise. Out of the mere handful of these known youkai, three of them were Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Kouga.
It was unknown why the three worked together. They didn't get along whatsoever, even though Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were siblings. They had been in cahoots with each other in multiple crimes, assaults, thefts, and even a few murders. Unlike many mafia-like groups, this trio did not have a gang name. They had never thought it necessary.
Sesshomaru was the original "founder" between the three. He had enough money from the git-go to get them started; he also had quite a few contacts. His family background made it possible to do things without question, his authority being higher than most. And knew how to manipulate his way into getting what he wanted. He was the most valuable asset to the three youkai.
Inuyasha, Sesshomaru's younger half brother, used to be hanyou. In a sense he still was, but many years ago he had had an expensive blood transfusion, getting rid of almost all of his human blood. It had never been done before and the likelihood of him living had been slim. It took him nearly a month to recover, but as soon as he did he fled the hospital without paying he fee to the doctors. This was part of why he was wanted.
Kouga's background wasn't like the two brothers'. But, he had grown up in Warui and knew every nook and cranny of the city. Before he had met Inuyasha, and later joined with Sesshomaru, he had only committed small crimes. Ones that someone who lived in Warui were almost expected to have done.
These three men were about to find themselves in a situation they would have never imagined to be in.

Miroku and Sango both could tell that someone was following them. And their pursuers weren't too far behind either. It was no doubt one of Naraku's creeps.
The streets were beginning to get crowded, making it difficult to move quickly. It was obvious that the two androids and girl were nearing Warui. Kagome was glad that they had to slow down, she was exhausted. She took quick, short breathes as she struggled to go on.
Kagura looked at the green screen again. She was practically on top of the girl, but where was she? Kagura's crimson eyes desperately searched the growing crowd of people. Damn. This was just like the old human saying: trying to find a needle in a haystack. She saw a man and a woman running toward a fairly empty street, the odd part was that the woman was leading someone in a large, hooded coat. Bingo, it had to be them, taking a second glance at her little device, it was confirmed.
Miroku cursed under his breath when he saw a woman and three men following. He urged Sango and Kagome to go faster, which really wasn't possible in Kagome's current state. When they reached the end of the street they turned right into an alley, after that then turned right again onto another alley. Miroku was trying to twist and turn his path as much as possible, it would slow Naraku's thug's down.
The unmistakable sound of a fist making contact with someone's face echoed loudly.
Miroku, Kagome, and Sano looked at the path ahead of them. Two men with long, white hair were in a physical fight. The taller of the two had just slugged the shorter, causing a small trickle of scarlet blood to slide down from his lower lip. A third youkai, with black hair and a pony-tail was watching from the side, obviously amused.
Their fight was paused when they saw three people running toward them, followed by four others. "Shit!" the black-haired one yelled and the three began to run also. They assumed the ones trailing the first group were the police, and right now they didn't feel like dealing with the asses. They were on the very out-skirts of the city so it was possible for police to be around, and with the two younger of the three having severe hangovers and the other pissed off it probably wouldn't be the smartest idea to just continue their fight and get busted.
Miroku saw a golden opportunity in the three youkai ahead of him. They were most likely residents of Warui and would know how to get away from someone chasing them. Miroku decided to follow the trio in hopes of getting Kagome away from Naraku.
They continued down that alley and then turned into a hotel, and rushed passed its occupants. The three youkai men pushing most of the people down, making it difficult for someone to follow as the dazed people started to stand up again. They raced down several hallways until they came to the fire-escape doors. After leaving the building through those doors, which lead to a different part of the city, an annoying, beeping fire-alarm sounded.
Sango looked back, for now, they had lost the four youkai that were "hunting" them. Kagome tried to look at the passing buildings; there were many bars, a few apartment buildings and small shops also. The group turned to their left, down a concrete stairway. They then crossed one of the main roads of Warui, Kagome nearly being hit by an on-coming vehicle. Finally, after what Miroku guessed was three miles or more, they entered another building, tutted down a staircase and stopped in the basement.
Kagome took advantage of the break to catch her breath, but nearly fell to the ground from her weak limbs. The three youkai looked at them suspiciously. The shorter of the two white-haired ones moved toward them.
"Who the hell are you!?" he growled, his piercing golden eyes glaring at the strangers.
