Last Summer-Chapter 2-Here

Sango woke up to the sound of laughter outside her window. The voice seemed to match Kohaku's. She sat up groggily and looked outside. Kohaku was running around. Sango furrowed her brow and looked at the clock.

“Why is he outside? Was I asleep until eleven?” Sango asked in disbelief before a certain boy came into the picture.

Miroku was wearing a foot ball jersey and holding a foot ball in his hands as well. Sango giggled slightly as she watched Kohaku tackle Miroku. Kohaku took the ball from him and scored a `touch down' by running to the sidewalk.

Sango found it adorable. Kohaku finally had a man around to play with him. A real man. She laughed at the thought. Her smile, however, soon faded as the scene before her began to play out. Kohaku threw the ball at Miroku. Miroku, however, was paying no attention and the ball collided with his cheek, sending him backwards.

“Oh, God!” Sango said wasting no time in making her way out side. “Kohaku, what did you do?!” She asked finally making it out side in nothing but her sleeping outfit.

“I don't… I don't know… Miroku… we were just playing and…” Kohaku said in tears as Sango looked over at the unconscious boy.

`Kohaku must have quite an arm…' Sango thought rushing over to his side. “Miroku?” She shook him lightly. “Miroku? Are you okay?”

`Damnit… he's not waking up.' Sango thought panicked. She turned to Kohaku and was about to tell him to call 9-1-1 when the situation became… not so urgent. Miroku was fine the entire time. In fact, he was rubbing her ass.

Sango growled and slapped him. “You lech!” She shouted. Miroku just smiled and sat up. He couldn't help but find the unshed tears in her eyes amusing. He barely knew her and she was already crying.

“I'm so sorry for making you worry, Sango.” Miroku said sitting up and hugging her.

Sango growled. “I was not worried at all! Get your hands off me, you creep!” She shouted pushing away from him.

“If you were so `not worried' then why would you rush out here in barely anything covering yourself?” Miroku asked slyly.

Sango opened her mouth to respond but Kohaku cut her off.

“Hey, what about me?” Kohaku asked, still bawling. Honestly believing he had nearly killed their neighbor's nephew. Miroku smirked and turned his attention to Kohaku.

“Well, you've got one hell of an arm, kid.” He said rubbing the cheek that was both slapped with a ball and Sango's hand.

Sango huffed. “I'll be in my room if you need anything Kohaku!” She stood up and began to walk inside.

“Only Kohaku can get you if he needs help?” Miroku asked. “What about me?”

Sango turned and glared at him over her shoulder. “That was a dirty trick you played on me. But I don't fall for things easily.” As soon as Sango was out of view, Miroku and Kohaku cracked up laughing.

“Nice acting!” Miroku said giving Kohaku a high-five. Kohaku smirked.

“You didn't do too bad yourself.” Kohaku said grabbing the foot ball and standing.

“Well,” Miroku began standing up and rubbing the hand print on his cheek. “It was worth it…”

Kohaku looked up at him in disgust. “I don't want to hear that! She's my sister!”

“She's a hot sister of yours'.” Miroku said. Kohaku rolled his eyes.

“Alright well, let's work on receiving.” Miroku said holding his hands out. Kohaku threw the ball at him. Miroku caught it perfectly and then threw it back to Kohaku.

“Nice catch.” He said once Kohaku caught in firmly in his grip.

“Thanks.” Kohaku said smiling.

“Now we work… on tackling.” Miroku said charging into Kohaku. Kohaku screamed and ran from him but tripped over a rock and fell over, only to have Miroku trip and fall on top of him, knocking Kohaku unconscious.

“Are you okay, Kohaku?” Miroku asked getting off him. “Kohaku?” He asked again. “Come on… Kohaku, quit joking around. Wake up!” Miroku said shaking him. “Shit…” He cursed under his breath glancing over at Sango's window. Sighing loudly, he stood and ran into the house.

*~*~*

“Sango!” Miroku called running up the stairs to her room. He busted through the door. “Sango!”

Sango's eyes nearly bugged out of her head. She had been in the middle of putting another shirt on when Miroku busted through the door. Miroku couldn't help but stare. Of course, Sango had her back to him and was wearing a bra but, she still was half naked.

Sango sighed loudly and didn't move anything but hr mouth. “Miroku.”

Miroku swallowed a lump in his throat and had to resist the urge to rip off her bra. “Y…yes Sango?” He asked nervously.

“Get out.” Sango said calmly.

“No, Sango… Kohaku!”

Sango whipped her head around and gave him an evil glare. “GET OUT!” She shouted. Miroku still stood there trying to explain but Sango began throwing things.

“Sango, please!” Miroku begged just as her trash can hit him in the face, throwing him to the ground.

Sango walked up to him to inspect her work after she had put a shirt on. “What, Miroku? What is sooo important that you had to walk in on me for?”

Miroku weakly sat up. “Kohaku… he fell and hit his head.” Sango laughed.

“Miroku, how dumb do you think I am?” Sango asked, standing him up. “You can't fool me twice.”

Miroku shook his head. “No… I'm not joking! Kohaku's really hurt.” Miroku said.

Sango looked outside her window and saw Kohaku lying there motionlessly. She drew a hand to her face in horror. “Kohaku!” She shouted running out of the door as quickly as she could. Miroku followed after her. “How did this happen?” She asked, holding Kohaku in her arms.

Miroku opened his mouth to answer but was cut off by Sango.

“Call an ambulance!” She shouted.

Miroku nodded and ran inside to call the ambulance. Sango shook Kohaku, trying to wake him up. “Kohaku… Kohaku.” She groaned angrily just as Miroku came back outside.

“They're on their way.” He said kneeling down beside her. “It'll be okay.” Miroku said putting an arm around her back. Sango just nodded and held her brother even closer as the ambulance pulled up.

*~*~*

Sango paced nervously in the waiting room. Miroku was seated by the window and they were just waiting for Kohaku's status. The doctor had already come out three times and said he was doing fine, but Sango still couldn't fight the nervousness inside her. It was now dark outside and her father still hadn't shown up.

“Sango, why don't you come sit down? You've been pacing since we got here at noon. It's nine already.” Miroku said. Sango shook her head.

“I can't… what if he doesn't make it? What if he dies?” Sango asked herself.

Miroku sighed and walked over to her. “He will be okay. I promise. Why don't you get some rest, Sango? You look awful.” He asked walking her back to her chair. Sango just nodded and slowly walked back into her chair.

Miroku sat down next to her. He studied Sango's face and could see the thousand emotions running through her eyes. He looked down and noticed her hand balled up into a fist and shaking. Miroku sighed and placed his hand on top of it, causing Sango to look over at him. “Sango… I promise, Kohaku will be okay.”

“Then why can't… why can't I go see him?” Sango breathed out.

“They don't want to make the situation worse. Once your father gets here, everything will be alright.” Miroku said removing his hand. Sango smiled slightly and nodded.

“Kay… thanks.” She looked down. Miroku gave her a curious look.

“Thanks for what?” He asked.

“Sticking beside me. I'm sure I would have died under pressure without you here. For that, I thank you.” She said looking him in the eye.

Miroku's hand returned to Sango's and he shook it playfully before returning the gaze. “It's what I'm here for.” Miroku began to move his face closer to Sango's, but his gaze was so deep, she never noticed. Miroku and Sango's lips were merely inches apart when the doctor returned.

“Miss Sango.”

Sango jumped and just barely missed giving Miroku a bloody nose. “Y…yes?” She asked, a blush on her face as the realization of what was about to happen struck her. Miroku just sighed angrily and sat back in his chair.

“Kohaku is awake now, if you want to see him.” The doctor said.

“Ohh… okay.” Sango scurried to her feet and walked quickly into his room with Miroku at her heels.

“Sango…” Kohaku said weakly as his sister came into view.

Sango knelt down beside him and placed a hand on his head. “Hey, how are you feeling?”

“Great!” Kohaku said.

Sango gave a small laugh, but it couldn't hide the tears in her eyes.

Kohaku just smiled. “Why are you crying?” He asked.

Sango looked up at him. “I was just so worried. I seriously thought you were hurt!” She wrapped her arms around him and cried into his hospital gown. Kohaku wrapped his arms around her and looked up at Miroku.

Miroku just stared in shock. `It's my fault… Kohaku was hurt because of me. Which means, it's my fault Sango was so worried and in so much pain.' Miroku slightly wanted to cry himself, but turned and left the room instead. Sango looked up after hearing the door close and looked over.

“Miroku?” She asked. She looked up at Kohaku and cupped his cheek with her hand. “I'm glad you're okay.” Kohaku nodded and Sango stood up to chase after Miroku.

“Miroku?” She asked watching him walk down the hall. She walked faster to catch up to him, but didn't until they were back in the waiting room. “Miroku.”

He turned to look at her. “Yes?”

“Wha… why are you… leaving?” She asked unsure of what she was saying.

Miroku just smiled. “I… I think you wouldn't have wanted me around.” Miroku began to turn away.

“What?” Sango asked placing a hand on his arm. “What are you talking about?” Sango spun him around so he was facing her again.

Miroku sighed. “It's my fault Kohaku got hurt. It's my fault you were so worried about him. It's my fault you were in pain.” He said.

Sango shook her head. “That may be but… you still stuck beside me and comforted me. You might have made a mistake, Miroku. But at least you helped to fix it.” She said softly. “I told you, I was happy you stuck by my side… so now you're going to leave?”

Miroku turned and looked at her. “I…uhh…” He sighed happily and wrapped his arms around Sango and was about to go lower when the sound of some one clearing their throat broke the embrace.

Sango gasped and ran up to a man who had just entered the room. “Dad, they need you to sign a bunch of stuff, Kohaku's in the back room.” Sango said pointing down the hall. He father nodded.

“Why's he here?” He asked pointing to Miroku.

Miroku started to open his mouth when Sango cut him off.

“He called the ambulance.”

“Oh.” Her father said shaking his head. “Well, I'll go check on him, then.” He said walking off.

Sango nodded and looked over at Miroku smiling. Miroku just smirked and sat down in a chair. Sango followed after him and sat beside him, smiling.

A/N: Well, I just wanted to say this now. This story is going to have lemons in it. But I'm not going to put a warning up at the top because, I feel it kind of spoils to chapter. However, if you are uncomfortable viewing such a thing, I suggest you either discontinue reading or just skim past the lemons/limes. I will not be posting A/Ns at the top of the chapters, if I have something that must be said, it will be said at the bottom of the page.
