Chapter 1: Life's Just a Walk in the Park
As Kagome lay in her bed that night, thoughts of the past swirled and enveloped her. Laying on her side with her head to the window the moonlight floated eerily across her room and she was taken back to that moment in the courtyard when she saw him. The first time she had seen anyone after the final battle.
If he had lived all this time, why didn't I see him until now, what brought him out of hiding, did he know I was from the future?
Bringing her hands to her temples, Kagome slowly rubbed her fingers around in slow soothing circles. She remembered how his hair glistened and glowed in the light of the moon, how is eyes sparkled like two stars from his face, his skin soft and velvet tingling in the cold air, and his breath smoking before her face as he had wiped away the stray tear that had fled from her eye.
Shuddering Kagome took a deep breath and rolled to her stomach and gazed out the window. Her eyes fell to the well house and magnetically her eyebrows furrowed together causing a look of confusion and discomfort to spread across her pretty face. Rolling her eyes and lightly hitting herself in the head Kagome pushed her thoughts aside and sighed as she resigned back into her previous resting position.
Falling into a fitful sleep Kagome's mind was racked with dreams of the past, how she left on good terms, but never felt that things had been settled between the group after her wish on the Shikon no Tama.

He hadn't seen her since the last battle. Sesshomaru sat in his study, legs crossed elegantly on his wooden desk, chair tipped back resting on it's back legs, and two long delicate hands rubbing small circles around his temples.
He did understand how she could still be alive. At first when he had seen her on the street he thought she must have been a relative, but something in her smell begged to tell him something different. Sesshomaru had decided he would follow her, he hadn't meant to actually come in contact with her, he had forgotten she had been a miko and could detect his youkai so he hadn't disguised it. When she uttered his name from her lips he knew that it truly was her and he was shocked for a moment.
There were so many questions he wanted to ask, so many things that had been left unanswered. Chuckling to himself he realized that this might explain why she disappeared after her wish.
`Sesshomaru' the way she had said his name made him convulse. He cold skin of her cheek has warmed beneath his touch as he had wiped away her tear. Sesshomaru couldn't help but wonder what she had awakened in him. He felt small warmth inside him he had not felt for a long time.
Opening his eyes he looked around his study. Rising and walking towards the window he looked out at the moon thinking of how beautiful she looked as the gentle winter breeze had lifted and played with her hair. Her hair how he had wanted to tangle his hands in it and relish in its silky texture, the moonlight around her body causing her to glow, and her cream colored skin lightly rouged by the cold fingers of the night.
You shouldn't be thinking this. She was your brother's wench…Even if they didn't do anything her heart belonged to him. Not to mention she is a human inferior, but her face of surprise and the sound she made when he had touched her…stop you are just going to let yourself up for a letdown like you always do, you can't trust anyone, you can't love anyone, and you have already suffered so much pain…
Turning away from the window Sesshomaru left his study slamming the door behind him. Stopping gracefully down the hallway he made his way to his room. He quickly undressed and fell into bed he turned to look out his window before falling into a deep fitful sleep. As his eyes scanned the cityscape his eyes couldn't help but linger to the west where the shrine lay over blocks of buildings and streets a piece of his past lay awake looking at the same moon she did.

He awoke tangled in sheets and drenched in sweat. He had not woken to these things in a long time and it scared him. He had dreamt of the feudal era through the night. Old memories and feelings resurfacing and taking hold of his emotions.
Grumpily rising from his bed he looked at the still quiet streets below him, he realized that the streetlights were still glowing slightly and that the time on his digital clock stared glaringly bright at 5:00am. Hitting the offending clock he rose and stretched his long limbs nude in the comfort of his penthouse suit above the city skyline.
Slumping his shoulders slightly, the demon lord trudged into his bathroom. Looking at his sweat-strun hair he grumbled slightly and scowled as he bent to turn on the water to the shower. As he let it warm he ran a clawed hand over his tired face and decided to step in as the glass in the bathroom began to fog from the warmth and humidity created by the running water.
Sesshomaru let the water pound his face and chest, relishing in the warmth it provided his mind wandered. I wonder what Kagome would look like in the rain with the water soaking her clothes as they clung to her body…
Letting his thoughts continue for a while before opening his eyes widely and shaking his head. He needed to stop that, he had seen the girl for a few minutes and all of a sudden he was thinking about how she could pleasure him.
Rolling his eyes, his thoughts ruining the shower he turned of the water and found a towel to wrap around his body. Leaving the bathroom he heard the quiet sound of panting and turned to see his malamute tongue strung out of his mouth looking at his master with happy eyes. Lowering a clawed hand to the mutt's head he lightly tapped it in an affectionate manner. With one hand holding the towel in place he beckoned the dog to follow with his other. Looking down at the animal traipsing behind him he smiled gently, “You want to go for a walk Monty?”
Bounding up and placing a paw at Sesshomaru's waist, the dog demon took that as a sign of encouragement to get his act in gear so he could take his dog to the park. Finding a pair of designer jeans and t-shirt he carelessly threw them on.
Walking to his bathroom again he opened the cabinet to reveal concealer, while in his humanoid form he looked human enough people still wouldn't accept the markings on his face as tattoos so he had to revert to makeup as a last resort.
Finding a clean triangle sponge Sesshomaru dabbed the makeup onto his offending markings. After blending the makeup evenly and feeling satisfied with his work he walked to the front door of his apartment where Monty had already situated himself waiting patiently with leash in hand.
Tossing a hat on his head and leather inspired motorcycle jacket he reached down and gently tugged on the leash. But, Monty thought it would be fun to have a game of tug-o-war before his morning walk. After twenty minutes play and a lot of moved furniture, Sesshomaru finally wrestled the leash away from his happy dog.
Clicking the leash into place and grabbing his wallet and keys from the side table next to the door, Sesshomaru closed the door behind him and walked the short distance to the elevator that would take him into the hustle and bustle of the outside world.

Waking to someone tapping her lightly on the shoulder, Kagome opened her eyes to see Souta sitting next to her on the bed. Yawning and wiping the sleep from her eyes Kagome smiled at her brother.
“How did you sleep?” He asked a hint of worry in his voice.
“Fine.” Kagome placed a reassuring smile on her face.
“Good, after what happened last night I just wasn't sure how you would sleep.” When they had gotten inside, Kagome had explained what had happened and why she had screamed. After finally convincing her brother that she was fine and safe he had left her in her room alone, but she had heard him check on her at least twice as she was trying to push all the thoughts from her mind and sleep.
Looking at the clock her eyes widened, as she looked at the time it read 6:00am. “What are you doing getting me up this early Souta?”
Laughing lightly he placed a hand on her shoulder, “I was going to go meet some friends for breakfast and was wondering if you wanted a ride home.”
“This early?” Kagome looked shocked who went to breakfast this early?
“Not right now, I still have to take a shower and I am sure that you will want to take a shower as well.”
Kagome's lips formed a small “o”. “When you can take a shower first and when you are done let me know and I will do the same.”
Shaking his head at his older sister he rose and shut her door quietly behind him.

Kagome arrived home by 8 o'clock much to her chagrin. She would have liked to have stayed in bed a little longer. But since she was up she decided she would get some exercise, after her embarrassing revelation last night when she had to huff and puff her way up the shrine stairs she decided it was time to get back in shape.
Throwing on a pair of under armor running pants and a north face fleece with a white wife beater underneath Kagome decided she would be warm especially since she would be running. Pulling her running shoes from her closet she blew off the dust and tied them to her feet.
Grabbing her iPod and fastening it to the waist of her pants and fashioning her hair into a high ponytail she grabbed her keys and was off to the busy streets of the city.
Dodging her way between bikers, walkers, and traffic Kagome wound her way around the city to a park that wasn't very far; she much rather run through nature then the urban jungle.
Slowing her pace slightly as she reached the park she took in the sparkling snow in the sunlight. It had warmed up considerably from yesterday and she was relishing in the new found warmth.
Looking at the children building a snowman to her left she barely heard the warning as she turned her head to see a Frisbee coming straight for her head, frozen in shock everything went black as it hit her in the head.
When she came to a few moments later there was something licking her face; tensing her opened her eyes to meet to blue eyes staring at her and one offending tongue in her face. Sitting up slowly she looked at the dog that had placed a paw on her leg as was swishing its tale with delight as she rose to its level.
Rubbing her head she heard footsteps crunching in the snow at a quick rate.
He has warned the girl that the Frisbee was coming straight at her, but instead of moving she just stood there and watched it hit her in the head. With a sickening crack she had fallen to the ground after the plastic saucer hit her square in the forehead.
Still concealing his demonic powers he couldn't run at lighting speed to make sure the girl was alright he instead had to jog as a human would hopping the girl wasn't suffering from amnesia by the time he got there.
Luckily his dog that had been chasing the Frisbee upon seeing the human get hit with it stayed be her side and brought her to. She was already sitting up and rubbing her head by the time he got to her. When a breeze blew his scent filled his nose, “Kagome?”
Turning her head, she saw Sesshomaru in all his grace jogging towards her quickly. He looked beautiful in the sunlight just like he had in the moonlight. Kagome questioned if there was ever a time he didn't look beautiful. Staring at him as he grew closer a sudden blush crossed her cheeks as she realized why she was sitting in the snow her clothes soaking in the snow.
She had been hit in the head by a Frisbee how unsexy was that? She chuckled to her self lightly truly embarrassed; she had just stood there and let it hit her. Covering her face wither her hands in embarrassment she hoping she was having a bad dream and that she would wake up and none of this would have happened.
Kagome was torn from her wishing when she felt a hand rest gently on her shoulder. Pulling her face away from her hands she met two golden eyes and as her eyes focused outward they saw a furrowed brow and a look of worry cross Sesshomaru's face for just a moment and then it was gone and his normal emotionless face was replaced.
“I warned you, you should have gotten out of the way.” He said quietly, but forcefully.
Kagome grew angry; she was doing a good job of kicking her self in the ass already he didn't have to shame her as well.
“Thanks, I knew that.” She retorted quickly.
“Well why didn't you.”
“Your warning just didn't click, okay, I was thinking about other things and I just didn't react.”
“Stupid human.” Sesshomaru looked at the emotions that crossed her face embarrassment, anger, shame, and more anger. His eyes slowly traveled to her forehead where a nasty red welt was making its appearance.
Deciding that he had patronized her enough for the moment he gently ran a clawed finger across the injury. She took a sharp intake of breath as he did so, obviously in pain and biting back tears. He looked at her face, she was chewing on her lower lip in pain and he found it strangely arousing.
Pushing those thoughts from his mind, “I don't live far, you should probably lay down and be watched for a while, especially with a head injury.”
“It's okay, I can make it home from here.”
He looked at her with distain. “Find do what you want, but if you end up on some street somewhere not knowing who you are or where you are going that's your decision.”
Grunting in annoyance two sapphire eyes met his, searching his eyes and seeming to question his motive. Seeming to find nothing she looked away,
“Fine.”
Sighing she submitted as he reached a hand down to pull her up. Standing up to fast the blood rushed to her head making her woozy, stumbling slightly she felt two iron arms of muscle wrap around her delicate waist. Gasping slightly she rested her head against his chest as he picked up Monty's leash.
Leaving one arm around her waist, he led her through the bustling city to his apartment.
