Author's Note: Okay, well I wanted to thank everyone who has taken time to read my story and time to review. I really appreciate it!
I wanted to clear a few things up. Sesshomaru has both arms…it has been a while I think his severed arm would have grown back by now. And Sesshomaru has grown softer, partly because of Rin and partly because he is older and though he hates humans he has learned to live with them. Some of that gets cleared up in this chapter.

Is learning to let go…
Chapter 2: Rubbing You the Wrong Way
As they walked through the streets winding their way to Sesshomaru's apartment Kagome wearily looked through the corner of her eye at the demon lord that stood next to her.
She took in his appearance; he had lost his markings, though if she remembered correctly he had them on his face last night. Pushing that from her mind she looked at his eyes, they glowed in the sunlight, but held no emotion, the flicker of concern that had flashed through them when she was on the ground must have been her imagination.
Sighing she lifted a hand and gingerly rubbed her eyes. She was tired, mentally as well as physically. Her thoughts shifted to a nice warm bath with bubbles and soothing aromas.
Sesshomaru had retracted his arm as if he touched something hot when he was sure that she could walk on her own. She had been eyeing him for the past few blocks out of the corner of her eye. Luckily it seemed that the stupid human decided to concentrate her thoughts and eyes somewhere else.
He took the opportunity to loose himself in though. Questions rushed through his head; the thing he couldn't get over was the way he acted to her, when had he gotten soft? And why, above all else, had he invited her back to his apartment.
Maybe it was because he hadn't interacted with anyone from the past since…the past?
Whatever the reason he didn't like her close proximity and kicked himself mentally for letting down his guard if even for a moment. But he had to admit, even though she was a human, she was quite interesting to look at.
Shaking his head ever so slightly he pushed all thoughts of her from his mind and decided to walk in calm contemplation.
Almost walking past his building deep in an oblivious state, he would have kept walking had it not been for Monty pulling him towards home. Obviously the mutt was tired and though he would never admit it, even on his deathbed, so was he.
Turning abruptly he almost left Kagome walking on the path they had been traveling. Luckily he remembered the girl that he was in charge of and jerked her from her thoughts will a slight lurch as he grabbed and pulled her in the direction he was going.
“What are you doing?” Kagome's blue eyes were wide in shock and confusion.
“You do not need to raise your voice human.”
Sesshomaru seethed, where did she get the idea that she could get an attitude with him? She was nothing but a lowly human and here she was talking to him as if his equal.
“You didn't need to grab me so hard, don't you think you've done enough damage for one day?” She raised an eyebrow and pointed to the welt and darkening bruise on her head.
“I warned you.”
His eye twitching slightly as he turned and continued to walk in the direction of the building, it took all his self-control not to slap the girl there on the street.
But he knew that while his feelings towards humanity had not changed, the humans were no longer fearful of him and he would be wise to make no rash decisions while out in public.
When we get into his apartment I have going to give him a large piece of my mind…
Kagome sucked up her pride for the time being and decided that approaching him in his home would be the best tactic…she didn't want to make a big deal about anything in the modern world, especially because even though she despised Sesshomaru she didn't want to out him in the modern world.
Who knew how people would react to his obvious demonic-ness?
Riding in an uncomfortable silence in the elevator the tension even seemed to upset Monty, who looked helplessly from his owner to the girl he slobbered and then back to his seething owner and the unpleased girl.
Finally after a small eternity the elevator dinged and hurriedly opened its doors as if it knew it held two unhappy, powerful beings that were about to explode.
Walking gracefully in front of Kagome, Sesshomaru paced to his door and unlocked it swiftly.
He entered only to hear the door slam and a slight “uff”, his nose was then assaulted with the smell the salt, rubbing his head with a clawed hand he effortlessly opened the door to a shaking Kagome.
“What is wrong with you?” Kagome screamed no longer being able to hold in her emotion.
“Whatever do you mean?” Sesshomaru knew this would irk the girl, but he only smirked to himself on the inside, and kept his cold exterior to face to outside world.
“What do you mean, what do I mean?” Kagome's eyes looked as though they were about to fall out of her head. “You shut the door in my face, you invite me to your house and then you SLAM the DOOR in my FACE!”
Sesshomaru gingerly covered his sensitive ears and sent one of the coldest looks Kagome had ever seen right through her.
Oh man, if looks could kill I would be dead.
Shuddering under his gaze, she refused to back down. Sesshomaru could smell the fear radiating off of her in steady waves.
If he were a human he would not have been able to tell she was afraid, because her eyes held such malice and her body was in such a strong stance that to the common eye she looked fierce and bold.
“I do not have time for this wench.”
He was angry, not only she yelled at him but she had now placed a finger on his chest and it was digging in annoyingly deep. Removing her finger he turned to walk away from her but he was stopped by a hand grabbing his upper arm.
“Don't walk away from me!” Kagome screamed.
Before she knew what hit her she was pressed against the wall with Sesshomaru's body weight pressing against her. A poisonness clawed hand was wrapped tightly around her fragile neck, claws just beginning to break the surface of her skin.
Her lungs burned from lack of oxygen and she was horrified with the look in Sesshomaru's cold eyes, they held emotion a flicker of emotion, but it was pure and total malice.
Choking she dug at his arm and chest in an attempt to free herself from his death grip. The longer the air was blocked from her brain the more futile her attempts gain her freedom became.
Almost loosing consciousness she felt something warm grow inside her, something she had not felt in a long time. All of a sudden a bright light blinded her eyes and she hit the ground, hard.
Sucking in all the breath she could once her senses came back to her she looked a few feet away to where Sesshomaru now sat with a look of pure shock written across his face. Rising to her knees she crawled to his side.
“Are…you…. are you alright?” She gasped out between hungry breaths.
He looked at her out of the corner of his eye. One minute she was purifying him the next she was asking if he was all right. Rubbing his head he turned to face her.
“Of course, this Sesshomaru is alright, you think your small amount of power would actually do any damage?”
Rolling her eyes, she decided to let that comment slip. She rather liked breathing and being alive and didn't think a rude rebuttal would be the best thing at this moment. Running a hand through her now tangled and disheveled hair she thought about how horrible she must look, especially in the shadow of Sesshomaru's beauty.
Suddenly becoming embarrassed she turned away from him and was about to rise when she felt a warm hand on her leg. She turned to Sesshomaru her face flushed.
“The bathroom is on the right if you wish to freshen up.”
Quickly rising Kagome hurriedly made her way to the bathroom and locked the door sliding down to the cool marble tiled floor on the other side. Rubbing her neck gingerly she couldn't help but think of his body pressed against hers, even if he had been trying to kill her.
She hadn't felt that kind of warmth since…well…since Inu Yasha.
