                           With Kagome

Kagome still pants quietly, the serge of power to bind the jewels tired her out. She closes her palm over the missing pieces, making sure her friends do not see it incomplete.

Sango is relived that Kagome still stays. "Kagome, is that it? Nothing happened. Does this mean you'll remain here?" She looks to her sister figure, hope shown brightly in her eyes.

Kagome doesn't want to tell her, 'She doesn't need to know.' Taking a final deep breath, she forces a practiced smile. "Looks like everyone worried for nothing, huh, Sango?" Both girls laugh, tired and nervous. Kagome quickly puts the jewel into her pocket.

Kagome gets pushed back from an outside force, and its name is Shippo. "Kagome! So your staying?" His bushy orange tail moving rapidly back and forth.

She hesitates, she feels pressured being around her friends. "Um, guys, I'm feeling a little flushed, I need to sit down for a while, to catch my breath." She swallows air, she can feel Sesshoumaru staring at her. Looking over to him with her eyes, he stares accusingly at her, 'He knows something's wrong.'

"Your not feeling well!? Oh, Miroku we'll have to put off leaving! Kagome feels ill!" Sango begins to talk rapidly, pushing everyone away and trying to lead Kagome to the castle.

"NO!" Kagome says a little to eagerly, "Uh, no, Sango. You don't have to stay here and worry over me. I'll be fine. Really." Turning to face Miroku, she addresses him. "Please Miroku, there's no need for you two to put off your lives for the sake of mine."

Miroku looks deep into her eyes. He's suspicious, but doesn't know anything. Continuing to look at her for a little longer, he turns to Sango. "Kagome is right. She will be fine here, Sesshoumaru has already seen to that."

Sango looks upset. "But."Speaking softly, "He's the one who took her from us in the beginning. How can you trust him?"

Kagome steps forward, placing a calming hand on her shoulder. "How can you not? Sango, he's done nothing but care for us. Do not forget, he let you into his home, if you won't trust him, then trust me. I know what I'm doing." Again, eyes lock. Sango looks for a deceit in her words. When she finds none, Sango holds her head down in silent apology. Kagome hugs her, "Don't worry Sango, I'll be fine."

Rin tugs on Kagome's sweater. "Kagome? Can Shippo stay with Rin and Sesshoumaru, too?" Her pleading eyes glisten over with tears.

Shippo goes over to her and smiles, "Of course I'm gonna stay Rin, Kag-." But he doesn't get to finish.

Kagome lifts him up, "I'm sorry Shippo, but I want you to go with Sango and Miroku." He stares disbelieving at her. "I can't explain now Shippo. You'll understand later." She gives him a final kiss on the cheek. Handing him to Miroku, she takes a few steps back.

Sango is resistant, but complies. She has Kirara turn to her larger form. In turn, everyone sits upon Kirara's back.

Shippo is too stunned to say anything more. 'She doesn't want me to stay?' He turns to look up at Miroku for an explanation, but he wont say anything.

Kagome pats Kirara on the head as a final fare-well. The fire cat purrs in delight. As Kirara prepares for take-off, Kagome turns her head, dirt swirls around her. Debris settles, she looks up and waves good-bye, Kirara speeds away in the direction of Kaede's village.

Sesshoumaru walks to her side, not looking at her but the disappearing forms of Kagome's friends. Neither look at each other, "You were eager for their departure, are you going to tell me or am I ask?" He looks at Kagome at the corner of his eye.

Kagome looks down, her bangs cover her eyes. "They... didn't need to know. It's my responsibility, not theirs. Their lives shouldn't be put on hold any longer for my mistake."

"I thought as much. Jaken!" Said toad rushes to his lords side. "Take Rin inside, have her prepare for bed."

"Lord Sesshoumaru! Rin doesn't want to go to bed yet! Can Rin stay up longer?!" She was being pulled by the hand by Jaken, not waiting for his masters response.

They stay by each others side for a while longer, Kagome reaches into her pocket, pulling out the jewel piece, she opens her palm to show the missing piece.

Nodding, he turns, "Come," Kagome follows behind, an abnormal gust of wind blows around them both.

The wind picks up, "Is this anyway to treat a visitor, Lord Sesshouamru?" Sesshoumaru and Kagome turn quickly to see a calm Kagura standing not ten feet from them. "Greetings. Lord Sesshoumaru."

Kagome steps back, 'She's holding jewel shards! Why couldn't I sense them?!' Kagome steps to the side of Sesshoumaru, whispering so only he can hear, "She's holding the last jewel shards."

Sesshoumaru narrows his eyes. "What brings the unexpected visit, Kagura? I had assumed you dead after Naraku's defeat." He steps in front of Kagome, shielding her from any possible danger. He stands in a ready defense position for an incoming assault.

Smiling, she brings her fan to cover her face. "I came to give the miko, the last of the jewel shards." Extending her hand, the last two shards glisten in the dying rays of the sun. "Please, take the shards, as a gift for Naraku's treachery." Smiling behind the safety of her fan, her eyes narrow.

Kagome moves from behind Sesshoumaru, walking to retrieve the shards. Before she takes her third step, Sesshoumaru holds her back, grabbing her hand.

Never leaving his eyes from Kagura, he addresses Kagome, "Something is amiss, do not let your guard down." Looking from his hands to his face, a blush creeps to her face. Giving his hands a reassuring squeeze, she walks over to Kagura.

Only a few steps away, she stops, extending her hands in a silent ask for the shards. She can feel Sesshoumaru's aura grow threateningly.

In the blink of an eye, Kagura closes her hand and thrusts the shards into her fan. Grabbing for Kagome's piece of the jewel, Sesshoumaru is there, ready to take Kagome to safety, and battle Kagura.

Grabbing her from behind, Sesshoumaru lifts Kagome bridal style and jumps to safety. With a firm, "Stay here" he unsheathes the Tokijin. "Prepare for battle Kagura, for this is your last."

A/N: Yes this one is short. No I don't have writers block, I rarely ever do. Lucky me! ^-^ I stopped it here so that the battle comes next chapter. No it will not take me forever to update. There will be a chapter next week. My internet has been working for a while, but I haven't been able to actually write the chapters because my mom or step-dad have been on the computer. I usually have enough time to read updates on many web sights. Now enough of my rambling. Thank-you all my wonderful readers and reviewers! Please review, the more reviews I get, the more I feel like writing more and more! Meaning the chapters are longer and not short! Bu-Bye!
