Chapter Sixteen

Yakeima's Power

 

Leiko and Yamainu burst out of the protection of the forest. The froze when they saw a human with large silver and gold falcon wings coming from his back hoving over their commrades. Garou and Shadow had been bound and their mouths tied. Keiyo and Kari were bound together and Satzuka and Sasuke were bound togther. Satzuka didn't seem to mind her plight. Leiko saw the tunic wrapped around the falcon youkai's leg and her eyes narrowed.

"Satourou!" she growled.

"My dear Lady Leiko." he said with a smooth smile.

Kari stuggled against her bounds. Her eyes narrowed to mere slits and she bared her fangs. Leiko heard the far off sound of thunder and saw black clouds rolling end. She'd forgotten that Kari was half elemental angel. Satourou looked up at the sky and began to laugh. A bolt of lightning struck the ground two feet from him, but he didn't flinch. He waved his hand and the clouds disappeared. Kari's eyes widened when she realized that he could get rid of her elements as fast as she could call them.

"Give me the Jewel, Lady Leiko." Satourou said, turning his attention fully on the hanyou.

Leiko's hand went to the Jewel around her throat. "No." she growled.

"Please, my lovely lady, don't make me fight you for it." he said.

Yamainu took a step forward, flexing his fingers and cracking his wrists. "You'll have to go through me first, bird brain." he growled.

Satourou crossed his arms over his muscular chest and chuckled. "I don't want the girl, you mangy wolf." he said. "All I want it the Sacred Jewel."

Leiko unsheathed Yakeima and slashed the air. Her silver eyes danced with anger. Satourour laughed and withdrew his own sword. Yakeima sparkled brightly in Leiko's hands. As she charged at the falcon youkai, her heartbeats began to increase. With each passing second, their hearts were becoming more like one heart. Leiko leapt into the air and brought Yakeima down.

Satourou side-stepped her, grabbed her arm and slung her away from him. Leiko rolled a few feet. She climbed to all four and glared up at the Soul. He continued to laugh as he looked at her.

"Stop being reckless!" Kari shouted.

Leiko rose to her feet. "Stay out of this one!"

The hanyou lauched herself at Satourou and when he side-stepped her attack, she followed. Leiko swung Yakeima, catching him on his arm. Satourou flapped his mighty wings and as he rose higher in the air, he delivered a sharp kick to Leiko's face. She flew through the air. Before she hit the charred ground, Yamainu caught her. He looked at her and then at the falcon youkai. Satourou laughed all the more.

"Soon." he said smoothly.

Leiko squirmed out of Yamainu's arms and stood before her opponet once more. She hefted Yakeima onto her shoulder, panting. There had to be some way to beat him. Leiko brought Yakeima around and slashed the air once more. As she did so, sparks followed in the blade's wake. When she did a back sweep, Leiko realized that Yakeima had grown brighter. A twisted smile crossed her lovely face.

When she ran at Satourou this time, he met her halfway. Leiko pushed his sword away, bringing Yakeima up. As the blade hovered in the air, more blue and silver sparks gathered around it. The two moons on the blade began to move. The new moon began to cover the face of the full moon. When the only light given off by the full moon was around the edges of the new moon, a blue flame surrounded Yakeima. Leiko knew that it was time to attack.

"Fell Yakeima's unleashed power! Moonlightflame!" she cried and slashed at Satourou.

He flew away from the hanyou as she landed on the ground. His body slammed into the charred remains of a hut. Leiko swung Yakeima in a circle, sending flames everywhere. When Satourou looked over at her, Leiko smiled.

"It is time." he said.

As he rose to his feet, Leiko felt their two heartbeats merge into one. A terrible grin twisted his hansome face. All of a sudden, his face lost all expression and his eyes took on an empty look. Satourou's body fell foward onto the charred ground. As his body connected with the ground, a glowing, blue ball came out of his body. It shot at Leiko and slammed against her.

"Leiko!!" Yamainu shouted and ran to her.

"Stop!" Satzuka shouted.
