Chapter Thirty-Three
Final Good-byes

Leiko leapt out of the well and stood in the rebuilt well house. She walked through the door and moved out into the moonlight. Her parents were fast asleep at this time of night, but was the only time she could crossover. This would be her last visit for a while.
She walked over to the large tree in the middle of the yard and stood in front of the tiny headstone there. Rain fell lightly, bringing back so many memories. Her silver eyes lingered on her sister's name as tears began to fill them. Leiko blinked and shook her head.
"It was raining the day I left you. I tried my best to save you, Akira, but I guess it wasn't good enough, huh? Well, this is good-bye, Akira." she said. "I miss you so much. You've missed a lot since you..."
The words faded from her lips. She still couldn't bring herself to say that Akira was gone. The grief was still to near to her heart even after so long. Had it really been three years since she'd killed Tenma? Leiko sighed and turned away from the grave. It was time to leave this era. She didn't belong here any more. Leiko returned to he well house and slipped into the well.

A fire was burning a few feet away from the opening of the pack's den. Beside sat Yamainu, Kari, Shadow, Garou, Keiyo and two other members from the pack. Leiko stopped and looked around. The person she expceted to have greet her wasn't there. A light rustle made the dog hanyou turn around. A tiny figure launched itself at her and she hugged it close to her. Around her small neck hung the Shikon no Tama. It glowed brightly in the darkness and the flames dancing not too far away danced off of the luminescent orb.
"Mommy!" a little girl of five shouted.
"Oh, my little Mika." she laughed and spun in circles with the child.
"You're sad, Mommy?" Kinpa asked.
Leiko kissed the silver locks of her daughter. "No sweetie." she said. "Not anymore."
Yamainu walked over to them and hugged them both. "My girls." he said lowly for only them to hear. "My beautiful, wonderful girls."
Leiko kissed him lightly on the lips and looked up at the sky. She wondered if Akira could see her family where she was. High over head, the half moon sent down its pale beams to fall on Mika. Leiko looked at her child and Mika smiled. In that moment, Leiko saw Akira in her daughter.
Yes, you're watching. Leiko thought. Guide my daughter when I am unable.
It had been hard to leave her era, but Leiko knew that no matter where she went, Akira would be watching. She would alway be there. Leiko could see her in Mika now that she really looked at the child.
You live on in my daughter. So my good-bye to you was not the final one. You are here with me now in this way at least. Leiko thought with a small smile and kissed her daughter.

The End
(well, maybe not.)
