Previous Chapter : Later that night Kagome got home exhausted but not from work but from the recent fight her and InuYasha had. How she wished he was here with her. Then she heard rustling in the back room. "Who's there. InuYasha is that you?'' The that dark husky voice answered.
Chapter 13
The Kiss Of The Heart
"Hey Kagome."
Kagome got closer for which she couldn't see the shadow before her. Then he emerged from the dark shadows with a sly grin on his face.
Kaogme gasped. "Miroku!? What the hell are you doing here."
"Suprise. I thought you'd be happy."
Kagome glared him and took off her jacket and proceeded to the living room. "I thought you went back to Sendai"
"I did but I decided that I couldn't dream of living without you."
"Well, keep dreaming."
"You got a mouth on you now."
"And you will have a fist on you if don't get the hell out my house!"
Miroku sneered then took Kagome by her neck and pressed her up against the wall. Kagome was gagging for air as she was struggling to get loose of Miroku's hold.
"You are a little bit too fiesty for my taste. Now what you're gonna do is pack up your shit and come with me."
"I'm not going nowhere with you. You fucking bastard" Then she spit in his face.
"Is that right?!'' He threw her sending her flying into the wall.
Kagome groaned as she held her side.
"Now get your shit and lets go." Miroku walked up to her towering over her body.
Kagome coughed and groaned. "Fuck you."
"What did you say to me?!!"
"I said fuck....." she turned around only to staring into the barrel of a gun.
"Don't have much to say now do you?"
Meanwhile InuYasha was parked in front the house that he once lived in. He sighed as he looked at it. Then he got out and walked up to the door.
Meanwhile back in the house, "Don't shoot me. Please Miroku." Tears began to gather in her eyes from fear.
Miroku chuckled. "Look at you. You look pathetic, Kagome!"
"Please Miroku. Please!" Kagome sobbed.
He began to carress the side of her face. "I'm not gonna kill you, my love.''
Then Miroku heard a knock at the door and was startled as he accidently shoot off the gun sending the bullet through her chest. Miroku turned around only to find Kagome breathing raggedly as blood was soaking through her white blouse.
"Kagome? Kagome? Damn."
"Kagome! Are in you there?! Are you okay?''
Miroku heard InuYasha voice yelling from the other side of the door. He panicked and ran out the side door leaving Kagome bleeding on the floor.
Meanwhile InuYasha was banging harshly on the door. "Did I hear a gun fire off. Kagome!!!''
He stepped back a little the kicked the door in. He ran through the house screaming his ex-wife's name. Then he reached the living room.
"Ka.... Kagome?!!''
He ran to her side holding her hand that was placed on her chest. "Who did this."
Kagome began to breath raggedly. "Mi..ro..ku." She strained out.
''That bastard! I have to call an ambulance."
InuYasha ran to the phone and picked it up and began to dial a number. "Hello. This is Saiseikai Central Hospital how may I help you."
"Um...yeah. Um...My..my...wife she's been shot."
"May I have your address please"
"Um....it's 15-1 Sakae-cho drive. Please hurry."
"We'll have an ambulance arrive in about 15 minutes."
InuYasha hung up the phone then ran to Kagome's side.
"It's gonna be okay." Tears started to flood his eyes as he looked at his wife.
"I'm....sorry." Kagome whimpered.
"It's okay, baby."
Kagome eyes started to glaze over. "Keep awake. Don't go to sleep. Please don't die on me. You can't! I can't live without you." InuYasha cried out to her as he embraced her.
Then he felt her body go limp. He gasped and looked at his wife whose eyes were closed.
"No!" He felt her pulse and it was still beating.
He sighed. "Thank god. She's still alive.''
Then her pulse began to get slower by the minute. Then a man in a white uniform peeped in the door.
"Hello! Is anybody here?!''
InuYasha perked up. "Yes. We're back here."
The guy followed InuYasha's voice to the living room.
"Hey. Guys in here!" The guy yelled to the front door then two guys with a stretcher came in the living room.
They picked the unconcious Kagome up and laid her on the stretcher. They carried her out the door with InuYasha following. Then one of the guys stopped him.
"Hey. I'm sorry but there isn't enough room in the ambulance truck."
InuYasha nodded as he painfully watched them put her in the truck. He watched the ambulance drive off into the horizon. He sighed the ran into the house and picked up a phone.
"Hello, Sess"
Sesshomaru yawned and stretched. "InuYasha? Why are you calling this late."
"I'm over Kagome's" Sesshomaru chuckled.
"So you finally got back together."
"No! That bastard Miroku shot her right in the chest."
"What?!! I thought he left."
"I did,too."
"Well, Is she alright?''
"I don't know that's why I gotta go."
"Yeah alright."
Then InuYasha hung up the phone and rushed out to his car and drove off. Meanwhile Sesshomaru was sitting stunned on the side of his bed.
"Well, I guess all good things have to come to an end." He sighed and looked over to Rin sleeping in his bed.
Meanwhile InuYasha was sitting in the well lit waiting room. Please don't die on me Kagome. You're all I got left. He held up his sleeve to his nose because he was getting suddenly nauseous of the smell. "I hate the hospital smell. I reminds me of that day. That day I lost you."
*FLASHBACK*
A seventeen year old InuYasha was sitting in the waiting room holding back the tears that were dying to get out.
"I can't cry. I can't cry." He kept repeating to himself.
Then the doctor emgered from the white doors that seperated him from seeing his mother. "Mr. Taisho?'' He addressed him.
InuYasha jumped up and straightened out his jeans and approached the doctor. "Is she okay,doc."
"Well, Um...she has a number of malignant tumors that has metastasize to other parts of her body and has pursued her heart."
"Okay. I skipped health. I don't know what you're talking about."
The doctor inhaled the largest amount of air and took a big exhaled. ''The tumors are destroying her heart as we speak."
"Well, pump her up with some of that morphine."
"We have! Anymore would kill her instantly."
"So what are you saying, doc." InuYasha said with his voice filling up with tears.
"She only has a few minutes to live."
He was stunned for a moment as his brain would let the information proccess through.
"Can...can I see her."
"I don't think thats wise, sir."
"I don't give a fuck what you think! I want to see my mother before she dies!"
The doctor paused for a minute. "Okay. Calm down and follow me."
The doctor walked through the the white doors and Inuyasha followed him. He then stopped at a door that read fatality condition. The words scared him so much he was having a very hard time to breath and take all of it in. The doctor opened the door and InuYasha entered as he saw his mother with her long midnight hair spread across the white cotton pillows. InuYasha could smell the death in the air it was sickening to him. He approached her as she was light greenish color.
"Mom?''
"Sweetie." she strained.
He ran and embraced her fragile hand with his strong one. "I love you, mommy."
"I know, you don't have to tell me that."
"Do you want me to do anything for you."
"No, you given all I ever wished for including a few headaches'' She said as she strained a horse chuckle out before she continued. "But you can do something for me."
"What is it? Anything at all."
"I've always said you had the hardest head and always did what was best for yourself. But sometimes you have to do what's best for others. I want you to stay with Kagome she's a good woman." She coughed before she began to continue. "Promise you'll do that for me."
She strained out. InuYasha held on to her weak hand stronger as he felt her life actually leaving her body. He stared at his mother lifeless body with watery eyes. He didn't want to cry but it was getting extremely difficult not to.
"I promise."
He said softly as he let go of her hand and it loosely fell to her side. He sighed deeply before leaving the room. He walked down the well lit hallways not knowing what to do or who to go to. Then he saw her, the woman he would spend the rest of his natural born life with. He ran to her and embraced her in a hug like never before. She carressed his back in comfort of his situation. He finally let the tears flow freely from his eyes.
"It's okay, InuYasha. It's okay."
He lifted his head up to look into her stormy eyes that always brought him some comfort.
"I love you, Kagome."
She smiled softly and put her hand on his tears stained cheek. "I love you,too."
"And that's why I want you to marry me."
She kissed him in the most heat filled kiss then embraced him.
"I want to marry you,too."
*END OF FLASHBACK*
InuYasha stared at the floor gripping the crease of his pants. He heard footsteps and immediately looked up to find Sesshomaru. He walked up to his little brother and laid a hand on his shoulder.
"She okay?''
InuYasha sniffled then answered "I don't know. I hope she's okay because I can't live without that woman."
"You tried hard enough" Sesshomaru said as he sat down in the empty seat next to his little brother.
InuYasha put his head down and sighed. "So where's Aki."
"Rin's watching her.''
InuYasha looked up to his brother's cold eyes. "Is this my fault, Sesshomaru."
"Do you feel guilty."
"Not really. But I need some type of reassurance that if she die I won't feel responsible."
Sesshomaru sighed deeply. He knew that it wasn't his brother's fault but in some way it was. He let his anger get ahead of the real problem.
"Of course it's not your fault. But I think it's best that we shouldn't talk about this."
InuYasha nodded as he rubbed his bloodshot eyes. Then the two brothers heard small footsteps and a small lady with a white jacket turned the corner and headed for them. She had long auburn hair that was up in a ponytail and thick black glasses that were looking directly at the two silver haired men.
"Mr. Taisho" She nodded to InuYasha as he got up to greet her and so did Sesshomaru.
"Thanks Itsuki."
He knew her from when she delivered Aki that day. "So how is she doing" InuYasha asked in a low tone.
"Well, she's doing okay."
"Well, can I see her." Itsuki nodded and motioned InuYasha to follow her while Sess stayed behind.
He followed the female doctor down that same hall that he had took when his mother died. It seemed the same to him like his worst nightmare was coming back to haunt him. She stopped at door then opened it allowing InuYasha to step in. He walked in seeing Kagome...his Kagome laying on the hospital bed.
"Do you need anything, Mr. Taisho."
"No that's okay, Itsuki" She nodded then left the cold hospital room shutting the wooden door behind her.
He watched Itsuki leave then turned to his wife who was lying there sleep. He walked over to her watching her eyes open slightly to get a hazy view of him.
She mummbled "InuYasha".
"Sssh. Don't talk." He said in a light whisper as he leaned down and kissed her cheek watching a tear flow down it.
They just stared at each other for a while as an unspoken love that was being expressed by a simple stare.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"Listen, Kagome" He paused for a moment and sat at the edge of the bed holding her hand. "I know what you did and you don't have to say sorry for it everytime."
Kagome began to get some of her strength back as she sat up a little bit. "Then what do I have to do to make you forgive me"
"Nothing, but you can tell me why'd you do it."
Kagome was desperately afraid because she didn't want to reveal the real answer to him. "Um...because he had this power over me and...."
But before she could finish InuYasha interrupted. "Don't feed me that lie. I've known you most of my life and I know not one man could ever control you. Now tell me the reason you kept running back to him. Tell me the truth of why you deceived me, Kagome!"
She stayed silent not wanting to say it. Not wanting his ears to hear.
"I...I...needed to...feel loved." She stuttered out not wanting to get the words out.
InuYasha froze wishing he had never asked the question but now he knew why.
"InuYasha?'' Kagome said in worried tone because she knew saying that would bruise his heart more than the affair itself.
"You don't feel loved when you're with me?'' InuYasha asked in disbelief of how she could say such a thing.
"Yeah, but....."
"The truth, Kagome. Please." He begged to her even though he didn't want to hear it as much as she didn't want to say it.
"Well....well no. Not really."
InuYasha sighed as he looked to the bed sheets then back to her. "But...but how?'' He said still in disbelief.
"You don't give me your heart. It's been this layer between us that has been getting thicker and thicker as the years went by.''
"So you're telling me that you're feeling so unloved that you had to go to another man to find it. Well, did you find it, Kagome. Did you?!"
"No! Only pain and guilt!"
There was a silence that they were familiar with because it seemed to happen all the time.
"Have....I always made you feel this way." InuYasha finally said in a low whisper afraid of her answer.
"Yes. Except for one time." She raised her index finger indicate her statement.
"When?! How?! I need to know what I need to do to let you know I love you."
"That...that night you kissed me when your mother died. It was like you gave me your soul your life your everything. That night I...."
Then her sentenced was broken by InuYasha lips pressed against hers. He opened her mouth with his tongue and emerged himself in her. He grabbed a hand full of her midnight curls to make the kiss deeper than it was. When he broke the kiss Kagome was out of breath and out of words to say. He then rested his forehead on hers as his hand was still locked in her hair. He looked deep into her stormy eyes, melting them with his golden ones.
"I love you so much it hurts. So don't ever think for a second that I don't."
Kagome wanted to say something but still was dazed from that kiss. Then he reclaimed her lips as his own into a deeper kiss than the first. Kagome broke it up because she was geting lost from air.
"Now that's how to kiss the woman you love. I want you kiss me like that from now on."
He let out a small chuckle as he kissed her again but then he was broken as Sesshomaru walked in the room with Rin with a bouqet of flowers in her hand and little Aki on her back.
"Am I interrupting something?''
"Knock first." InuYasha said as he glared his brother.
"Sorry."
"Um...here you go. I brought you some flowers." Rin said as she sat the flowers on a near by nightstand.
"Thanks. You must be Rin, Sesshomaru's girlfriend."
She smiled and nodded.
"Hi mommy!" Aki said as she slid down from Rins back and into her mothers arm.
"Are you okay, mommy?''
"Yes, sweetie. I'm fine."
"So what's up with all of the kissing. Please do everybody a favor and just get back together."
"For once, I'll listen to you, Sesshomaru."
He nodded and kneld down at the side of the bed.
"Kagome Higurashi, will you marry me."
Kagome smiled. "Yes. A million times, yes."
He took off her engagement ring then put it back on.
"There now you're offically mine. And only mine." He got up and embraced Kagome but not too hard because she got shot.
"Thank God. Finally you two dumbasses came to your senses" Sesshomaru said but then was interrupted as Rin was tugging at his sleeve looking seductively at him. His eyes widened.
"Now?'' He whispered.
She nodded
"Um.... We..we got to go!"
"So soon, Sesshomaru."
He looked over to Rin as she licked her lips to entice him more and he felt his pants get tighter.
He swallowed then nodded. "Yeah. Now." He grabbed Rin by her hand and they left out the room but stuck his head back in to see InuYasha with his wife to be...again and his daughter all enjoying each other.
He smiled. "You did it, little brother. You did it."
He said to himself. "Sesshomaru I'm waiting." Rin said in melodic tune then he rushed out the door.
A/n: Finally!! I'm so sorry but I was kinda busy all week. My brother came back from Hawaii and he just had a baby (Yay! I'm an aunt! But he's leaving back to Hawaii tommorrow so we threw him a going away party today. Sorry again.

"No that's okay, Itsuki" She nodded then left the cold hospital room shutting the wooden door behind her.
He watched Itsuki leave then turned to his wife who was lying there sleep. He walked over to her watching her eyes open slightly to get a hazy view of him.
She mummbled "InuYasha".
"Sssh. Don't talk." He said in a light whisper as he leaned down and kissed her cheek watching a tear flow down it.
They just stared at each other for a while as an unspoken love that was being expressed by a simple stare.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"Listen, Kagome" He paused for a moment and sat at the edge of the bed holding her hand. "I know what you did and you don't have to say sorry for it everytime."
Kagome began to get some of her strength back as she sat up a little bit. "Then what do I have to do to make you forgive me"
"Nothing, but you can tell me why'd you do it."
Kagome was desperately afraid because she didn't want to reveal the real answer to him. "Um...because he had this power over me and...."
But before she could finish InuYasha interrupted. "Don't feed me that lie. I've known you most of my life and I know not one man could ever control you. Now tell me the reason you kept running back to him. Tell me the truth of why you deceived me, Kagome!"
She stayed silent not wanting to say it. Not wanting his ears to hear.
"I...I...needed to...feel loved." She stuttered out not wanting to get the words out.
InuYasha froze wishing he had never asked the question but now he knew why.
"InuYasha?'' Kagome said in worried tone because she knew saying that would bruise his heart more than the affair itself.
"You don't feel loved when you're with me?'' InuYasha asked in disbelief of how she could say such a thing.
"Yeah, but....."
"The truth, Kagome. Please." He begged to her even though he didn't want to hear it as much as she didn't want to say it.
"Well....well no. Not really."
InuYasha sighed as he looked to the bed sheets then back to her. "But...but how?'' He said still in disbelief.
"You don't give me your heart. It's been this layer between us that has been getting thicker and thicker as the years went by.''
"So you're telling me that you're feeling so unloved that you had to go to another man to find it. Well, did you find it, Kagome. Did you?!"
"No! Only pain and guilt!"
There was a silence that they were familiar with because it seemed to happen all the time.
"Have....I always made you feel this way." InuYasha finally said in a low whisper afraid of her answer.
"Yes. Except for one time." She raised her index finger indicate her statement.
"When?! How?! I need to know what I need to do to let you know I love you."
"That...that night you kissed me when your mother died. It was like you gave me your soul your life your everything. That night I...."
Then her sentenced was broken by InuYasha lips pressed against hers. He opened her mouth with his tongue and emerged himself in her. He grabbed a hand full of her midnight curls to make the kiss deeper than it was. When he broke the kiss Kagome was out of breath and out of words to say. He then rested his forehead on hers as his hand was still locked in her hair. He looked deep into her stormy eyes, melting them with his golden ones.
"I love you so much it hurts. So don't ever think for a second that I don't."
Kagome wanted to say something but still was dazed from that kiss. Then he reclaimed her lips as his own into a deeper kiss than the first. Kagome broke it up because she was geting lost from air.
"Now that's how to kiss the woman you love. I want you kiss me like that from now on."
He let out a small chuckle as he kissed her again but then he was broken as Sesshomaru walked in the room with Rin with a bouqet of flowers in her hand and little Aki on her back.
"Am I interrupting something?''
"Knock first." InuYasha said as he glared his brother.
"Sorry."
"Um...here you go. I brought you some flowers." Rin said as she sat the flowers on a near by nightstand.
"Thanks. You must be Rin, Sesshomaru's girlfriend."
She smiled and nodded.
"Hi mommy!" Aki said as she slid down from Rins back and into her mothers arm.
"Are you okay, mommy?''
"Yes, sweetie. I'm fine."
"So what's up with all of the kissing. Please do everybody a favor and just get back together."
"For once, I'll listen to you, Sesshomaru."
He nodded and kneld down at the side of the bed.
"Kagome Higurashi, will you marry me."
Kagome smiled. "Yes. A million times, yes."
He took off her engagement ring then put it back on.
"There now you're offically mine. And only mine." He got up and embraced Kagome but not too hard because she got shot.
"Thank God. Finally you two dumbasses came to your senses" Sesshomaru said but then was interrupted as Rin was tugging at his sleeve looking seductively at him. His eyes widened.
"Now?'' He whispered.
She nodded
"Um.... We..we got to go!"
"So soon, Sesshomaru."
He looked over to Rin as she licked her lips to entice him more and he felt his pants get tighter.
He swallowed then nodded. "Yeah. Now." He grabbed Rin by her hand and they left out the room but stuck his head back in to see InuYasha with his wife to be...again and his daughter all enjoying each other.
He smiled. "You did it, little brother. You did it."
He said to himself. "Sesshomaru I'm waiting." Rin said in melodic tune then he rushed out the door.
A/n: Finally!! I'm so sorry but I was kinda busy all week. My brother came back from Hawaii and he just had a baby (Yay! I'm an aunt! But he's leaving back to Hawaii tommorrow so we threw him a going away party today. Sorry again.
