Chapter 1

Kagome walked sadly threw the drooping forest that seemed to mirror her blue feelings. Yes, Kagome and Inuyasha were at it again; they of course had been fighting over a certain Miss Kikyo. Kagome let out a soft sigh, she knew that she could not compete against Kikyo. She was the one that gave her life for Inuyasha, well, at lest in a fashion.

 

Kagome had yelled at Inuyasha, she knew she shouldn't have and she was trying to be understanding, she really was! But, he just refuses to let go! She's dead! He just doesn't see how that could hold them back. She was now on her way to the well. Just like usual, she wanted to take the easy way out and just go home till things blow over and Inuyasha finally gets talked back into coming and getting her. Sigh, Kagome was beginning to feel depressed again, she hated it when she gets this way. No, of course she never thought about killing herself like those emotionally scared “gothics” at her school, but being so far away from her family and friends all the time, no matter how naive they were, left her feeling vary lonely.

 

About half way between Kaedes village and the well Kagome began to feel a jewel fragment, stopping and focusing her energy on the fragment she figured it wasn't more then a few yards away. Letting out yet another sigh she slowly turned in that direction expecting to see Inuyasha there already fighting.

 

Kagome walked at a lazy speed not wanting to see Inuyasha so soon after their fight but as she neared she began to hear the slight roaring sound that sounded rather like a lion. Kagome wasn't overly alarmed; after all as long as it wasn't Naraku she trusted Inuyasha would be fine he was becoming vary strong. As Kagome took a few more steps she heard an earth shattering scream rip threw the air. Kagome froze for a split second before springing into a full sprint. That sounded like a little girl Kagome thought as she ran as fast as she could threw the forest. Kagome burst into a clearing and saw sesshomarus henchmen Jaken and two-headed dragon Aun fighting desperately against a lion demon. Ounce again Kagome heard that ear piercing shriek-followed bye Jaken's panicked scream

“Rin!” looking at the demon's mouth Kagome found Rin, sesshomarus loving ward trapped inside the creature's mouth. Jumping into action Kagome ran towards the demon drawing an arrow from the sheath on her back and aiming her bow towards the demons heart, right where the shard was, taking aim Kagome fired only to have the arrow easily swatted out of the air by the demons paw.

 

“I am the lord of lions you think your witch magic can harm me?” as he said this he gave a howling laugh that echoed across the valley. Ounce again Kagome took aim this time aiming for the mouth but only a few seconds before she let her arrow fly Jaken stepped in and with his staff of heads blew and enormous flame at the beast eyes. Distracting the demon enough to let Kagome hit her target dead on. Rin dropped from the demon's mouth aware enough to dart to her feet and flee a safe distance away hiding behind aun.

 

“ YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT,” the demon yelled charging forward towards Kagome. On instinct Kagome reached behind her for an arrow but to her dismay all she felt was air, she had used all of her arrows during the previous battle between Inuyasha and a mouse demon. The lions mouth came down on her tearing violently threw her shoulder as this happened a blinding blue light lit up the sky instantly purifying the demon that held her captive. Kagome fell to the ground with a dual thud Rin, being the thoughtful child she was, ran to her savior's aid. Rin was surprised at what she saw the pretty ladies arm was torn open exposing flesh, fat, muscle, and bone along with this major injury she had a small cut above her eye on the side of her face that she landed on. Poor poor lady Rin thought as she looked down at the girl.

 

“What happened” a deep voiced asked. Rin twirled around at the sound of the man's voice, bowing with respect.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru” Jaken yelled in surprise. Rushing to the side of his master.

 

“ A fierce lion demon attacked us, almost costing rin's life, but the witch that travels with Inuyasha used her powers and saved her” Jaken said with a slight sneer, resentful of the fact that it was not him that had rescued his masters ward. Sesshomaru looked at the girl so that's where I know her from Sesshomaru thought. The girl would die unless he helped her, even now he could smell the sent of death waiting to consume her.

“Aun come here” Sesshomaru demanded. Aun came obediently to his master's call kneeling down ever so slightly so Sesshomaru could none to gently toss Kagome's torn body on top of the dragon.

“We are taking her with us then?” Jaken asked confused at his master's pity for this human girl certainly this is not worth a life debt Jaken thought. A death glare was sent Jaken's way for questioning his master's doings so Jaken promptly shut his mouth. Sesshomaru rose into the sky along with his debt heading westward towards his castle.

 

 

 

Inuyasha sat silently in the tree Kagome had gone home he could smell her sent leading towards the well. She just doesn't understand he thought, Inuyasha would always hold a love for Kikyo but this isn't about that, this is about him repaying her debt, something that humans don't understand about demons. She died because of him! He owed it to her to avenge her death. He just didn't now how to explain it to her he felt a connection with Kagome that he has never had with anyone else in his life and it hurt him to see her get angry or sad. Inuyasha sighed gently he would give it a few days and then go get her as usual.
