Inuyasha watched Sesshomaru as he cradled Kagome's body to his chest both in shock at what they had witnessed. She had shaken both of them out of their blood induced adrenaline rushes and they were now standing gawking at the fallen priestess. She had expelled a blinding purifying light yet it had not hurt ether Sesshomaru or Inuyasha her purification subduing their inner beast rather then destroy them.

What did she do to us? Inuyasha thought passively as he scooped Kagome into his arms bridal style.

"Take her to her rooms, I will send Ade into care for her" Sesshomaru stated matter-of-factly as he turned on is heel to leave. He should be enraged at her defiance; any female would give her life to have Sesshomaru court her! And yet this human turned half-demon blatantly disregards his affections! She was not worthy! She was not worthy for this Sesshomaru's affection. And yet the jealous pain that he had felt when Akina had told him of the passionate embrace that she had found Kagome and his lowly half-brother in was unbearable. It was unfair that his mutt of a brother controlled the will of such a beautiful women. He would not be fooled with by a slip of a girl that could hardly control her own power. Then next time she was well he would simply challenge her. After all there was no way she could ever win.

Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kilala all walked towards the gates of Sesshomaru's castle well on guard to any demons that may attack them. After Inuyasha took down the barrier he had quickly fled to where ever Kagome was and left them stranded to find their own way. That was about a day ago, they had slept in the woods expecting Inuyasha and Kagome to quickly return. But, by the time morning came and they hadn't returned the group began to get worried. Sango was in the lead with a worried Shippo perched on her left shoulder and Kilala walking by her side. Miroku walked behind them, after all no amount of worry could take away his love of Sango's feminine form. But, his intentions were not all perverted he wanted to stay behind to be sure that no attackers would take advantage of their turned backs. They had been walking for a few hours now and only an hour or so more was in front of them. They were not sure what they would find but the apprehension that the felt hung thickly in the air. Hope was the only thing they had to pray for.

Kagome awoke in her bed, again, and looked around. Ade sat by her side stirring tea for her. She sat up her head spinning slightly from the impact that she took when she fell on the hard stone floor.

 

"What happened?" she asked putting a hand to her head. Handing her the tea Ade made himself comfortable at her side.

 

"You expelled a purifying energy" Ade said reading the questioning gaze in her eyes. Kagome gasped she remembered how she had walked upon Inuyasha and Sesshomaru fighting. Sesshomaru slowly changing into the massive dog that she had seen him in once, Inuyasha's face becoming the picture of a full-blooded demon. She had screamed at them to stop, trying desperately to get their attention. Then with a great scream of "sit" energy flew out of her causing her to pass out. But what if she had hurt them? Or killed them! Kagome began to panic her breath returning faster and her heartbeat becoming more rapid.

 

"Where are they? Did I hurt them? Are they ok?" Kagome asked all at ounce. Ade chuckled,

 

"They are fine, I am not sure what you did but your energy did not do them any bodily harm" a sigh of relief came from Kagome as she lay back down.

 

"I'm afraid that the little act that Akina caught you and the lord's brother in did not please Sesshomaru vary much" Kagome stiffened at Ade's words. She had completely forgotten about that, blushing madly Kagome looked at him.

 

"Was that why they were fighting?" Kagome asked.

 

"I have no doubt in my mind that it was" Ade answered with certainty. Dog demon brothers often fight over mates Kagome. They even share them at times, but that is not as common. When one male finds a bitch suitable for mating it is important that he does so before his rival sibling, the most common way that dog demons do this is by catching the attention of the female and winning her favor. Another common way is to simply challenge the other male and who ever wins gets the female, but of course the female still has the right to reject. And lastly there is the other way, manly viewed to be unethical by most demons but it is quite natural for dog demons to do, a male will challenge the female and if he wins she mates him whether she like is or not. Of course the female has the right to decline the challenge but once the challenge begins there is no turning back." Ade said. Kagome had not asked for the explanation but she understood that it was important for her to know.

 

"Thank you Ade, I don't know what I would do with out all your help" Kagome said leaning over and kissing the lion demon on the cheek. Ade let out a small purr at being kissed by the beautiful girl.

 

"Do you know where I can find Sesshomaru?"

 

“He should be in his study, it's down the hall to the left you should be able to smell him” Ade said getting up to leave himself. Both Kagome and Ade left the room Ade walking the opposite direction them herself. Walking towards the study Kagome began to smell the spicy scent of her host, opening the door she found the lone figure that was Sesshomaru standing looking out the window.

 

“What do you need Kagome?” cam Sesshomaru deep passive voice. Kagome stepped farther into the room rounding the desk to stand just behind him. His shoulders were rigid his posture immaculate.

 

“I was wondering if you were ok.” Kagome asked worry leaking into her voice. She watched as his profile twitched in irritation.

 

“I'm fine, you could not hurt me in your current state” Kagome was slightly insulted by his statement.

 

“We should spare, a challenge if you will, winner takes all” Sesshomaru said turning to face her fully. Kagome stood staring, she had never seen the demon lord like this before and it slightly bothered her.

 

“Winner takes all of what?” Kagome asked Sesshomaru merely smirked.

 

“Come with me” Sesshomaru said leading her out that door through the intricately decorated hallways out into one of the many courtyards that the large estate had. The yard was a large round shape in the center of the garden was a sandpit that provided the perfect slightly padded training ground. Around the ring was merely green grass not structures to possibly hinder the persons training. Sesshomaru stripped himself of his over kimono not wanting to rune yet another of his beautiful Kimono's.

 

“This is one of the many training rings in my castle, it will be suitable for our purposes” Sesshomaru said in a matter-o-fact tone of voice. Kagome stepped into the ring, slightly nervous at Sesshomaru's persona

 

“I'm not dressed to train,” Kagome said slightly. Nervous about the position she found herself in what is he planning? Kagome thought to herself as she stepped into the ring and moved to the middle of the sandpit.

“So, you accept the challenge?” Sesshomaru asked.

 

“I'm standing here aren't I?” Kagome replied with a sarcastic tone. She had spared with him before, it had been fun, why should it be any different? A deep smirk graced Sesshomaru's lips as he crouched. Ruling her would be fun.
