Miroku covers his mouth to stiffle his laughter as he leans into his mate's side. Inuyasha looks down at him, amusment evident in his amber eyes. He and the hanyou sat together on the plush grass of the largest garden of the western estate, enjoying a bit of peace. Sango had been there when they'd arrived, planting some of the plants needed for her poisons. She'd been using them on missions since she'd convinced(or rather Inuyasha convinced) Sesshoumaru to take her up in the small group of warriors that helped enforce Sesshoumaru's rule and keep disturbances down. Of course that was not the funny thing. Since Shippo had the afternoon to be a kid, Yuji had time to himself as well. Of course, there wasn't much to do around the estate if you didn't make something. The fox had, to the two's amusment found his calling helping Sango with her plants, trailing after her around the toxic garden like a lost pup. Inuyasha wraps an arm around his mate's waist.
"It's so sickeningly . . . cute" Miroku chuckles lightly, distractedly watching his toes flex, sandles just beyond his heels. He looks up at the silver haired hanyou.
"I'd never thought I'd hear you use that word-- and that's kind of mean" Inuyasha shakes his head
"It is" he watches as Sango moves asside so Yuji can give the newly buried seeds a little incintive to grow. He practially glows in responce to Sango's satisfied nod in his direction. "I wonder if she realizes his intentions, if she knows anything about youkai courtship" Inuyasha ponders aloud, a hand coming to rest on Miroku's head when he moves to lay his head in his lap, fingers laces on his stomach
"perhaps" Miroku's eyes drift shut, he visibly relaxes "I knew about as much as she does coming into all of this, and I knew nothing about it until I asked you"
"hnm, for his sake I hope she figures it out"
"you won't tell her?" the monk's voice is hardly audible as he mumbles
"it was his choice" he cracks an eye open to look up at the hanyou
"how so?" his eye close again
"he could have directly asked her, or this. Actions speak louder than words, it's the more traditional, and used to be more popular if I remember right. The extended amounts of time he's spending with her, the closeness, the submissiveness, the gifts"
"the food?" Inuyasha nods slightly
"he's showing her his ability to provide by bringing her fresh kills and fuit, vegitables, etc. Showing affection by the closeness and time, and his desired roll by the submissiveness. There's a lot in gestures when it comes to youkai mating rituals"
"hnm, I see, I like that idea" seeing a small smile touch his mate's lips, Inuyasha allows a smile of his own. He hadn't known those things himself at first. Since they'd relocated to the Western Lands, Sesshoumaru had been helping him train and feeding him information in the process, things he'd missed out on as a child. Honestly it felt good to know more of his heritage as part youkai, knowing human customs weren't enough, especially when it only represented part of him. Even though, Sesshoumaru had some alterior motives. He wanted him to have some active roll in ruling the territory that was partially his by birthright, which wasn't entirely bad. Most of the information he'd been learning was about how things worked government wise, so he'd had to ask about the courting. He'd told his brother of the situation and the taiyoukai had given him the information willingly. Looking down at his mate, who had fallen into a light slumber, Inuyasha presses a whisper of a kiss to his temple, smiling fondly when the monk snuggles closer. In the back of his mind, he regrets that Keade didn't have this peace, and was back at her village training the new miko. Hopefully . . . soon.
