Chapter 3
I would like to thank my reviewers, I had eight reviews when I opened my email this afternoon, and then a few more rolled in over the night!
Everyone was at Hana’s house and watching TV. Sango, Miroku and Kagome were on the couch, Inuyasha and Hana were sitting on the floor at their feet.
“No! I want to watch Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends!” Sango argued grabbing the remote out of Miroku’s hands.
“No! We want to watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force!” Miroku, Inuyasha, and Kagome whined.
“We are watching a movie!” Hana said taking the remote from Sango and switching the channel to HBO. He scrolled through to see what was on. “Damn there’s nothing good on. I vote for Foster’s.” He said turning it back.
“Hey we want to watch TV too!” Jisho said upon entering the room and plopping down on the couch with Souta following her.
“Jisho leave!” Hana said angrily pointing towards the stairs. “My friends are here.”
“So is mine,” Jisho said stubbornly folding her arms across her chest, “And this is my house too.” He sighed and pointed towards the chairs not too far from the couch. She smirked triumphantly and sat in it, with Souta at her feet.
They ended up voting, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force won. Not without much grumbling from the two who hadn’t wanted it.
Unfortunate enough for Sango and Hana it was a special marathon of some sort. They sat talking and watching TV for hours. Kagome fell asleep after losing track of time. When she awoke, she saw silver hair and twitching doggie ears. She rubbed her eyes in confusion before realizing who it was. She smiled slightly and tweaked his ear. He awoke and groggily tried to rub the sleep out of his eyes. Kagome looked down at her watch.
“Oh shit!” She cursed quietly. She hastily got up and shook Souta awake.
“What the fuck?” Souta asked groggily looking up at his sister.
“Souta we have to go! It’s after curfew!” She hissed at him, pointing at the time. He looked alarmed, got up and swiftly went to the door and shut it behind him.
“Kagome wait!” Inuyasha whispered to her, standing up from his spot. “What’s wrong?” He asked, his amber eyes looking worried.
“I…have to be home…it’s after curfew...” She said looking at her feet impatiently, nervously switching her gaze to her watch every other second.
“Kagome…what is it? You would never tell me. Not even after three months! And then not after six!” Inuyasha demanded an answer. She looked frightened for a few minutes before sighing.
“Come with me and you’ll see.” Kagome grabbed his hand and pulled him out the door behind her. They reached her car to find Souta already in the backseat.
“Kagome…what are you doing!?” Souta asked confused, once they got into the car. He knew that Kagome didn’t allow anyone to come over, not even Sango had.
They arrived in the driveway an hour after curfew. Kagome turned off her car and slowly got out. Naraku, her stepfather, was sitting on the porch with a bottle of sake in his hands.
“Kaagome…Soouutaaa….Get your asssses inside!” He slurred his speech; he didn’t even notice Inuyasha‘s presence. He got up and stumbled into the house.
“Inuyasha…Go upstairs to the first door on the right and stay there until I come up to get you.” Kagome whispered in his ear. He nodded and silently went to do what he was told. Kagome and Souta tried to sneak up the stairs, but Naraku grabbed Kagome by the hair and slung her to the ground. She cried out and hit her head on the leg of the table. She cradled her stricken body part cautiously.
“You stupid little bitch!” Naraku screamed at her slapping her face. Kagome looked up to see Souta staring at her solemnly. She hated having her little brother see horrible things. Especially when he knew that, she would always get worse than he would. With her eyes, she told him to leave; he did.
“What were you doing out past curfew? Huh? Were you out screwing some guy!?” Naraku demanded.
“No. I was at Sango’s house” Kagome lied, seething that he had accused her of screwing a guy. She was a virgin and didn‘t tolerate such talk about herself.
“You little liar. I called Sango’s house.” Kagome gulped. She closed her eyes in fear of what was to come. She felt it. The blade of the knife slicing across the still fresh cuts on her stomach. Silent tears rolled down her cheeks. She fell to the floor silently sobbing; Naraku left. From the living room, the wounded miko could hear the TV turn on. She got up and walked up the stairs to her room, clutching her stomach the entire way. She opened her door, walked in her room, and shut the door behind her. When she turned around, she saw Inuyasha staring at her in astonishment.
He came to where she stood. “Kagome…I had no idea…” He reached up to brush her hair away from her face. She pulled away and walked to her bathroom (it was adjoined to her room). She cleaned and bandaged her wound. She walked out and saw Inuyasha sitting on her bed, and looking at the floor. She quickly changed shirts and walked over to him. He looked up whenever she came over to him.
“Kagome…” He started but she cut him off by shaking her head. She put her head on his head. He looked at her stomach and he could see some blood seeping through. He lightly touched her stomach and felt her tense, but she didn’t stop him.
He lifted her shirt up just enough to see the bandages. He didn’t know what to feel or say. He grabbed her around the waist, being careful of her wounds, and pulled her on the bed carefully. He stood up and tucked her in. He kissed her on the forehead and whispered softly to her, “Kagome…I’m sorry…I don’t know what to say…But I’m here for you.” His amber eyes bore into her own. Her heart wretched at how much sympathy he was giving her. ‘He only just met me…Well…No…We’ve been talking for six months online…We’ve told each other a lot…But not enough apparently…He’s the only one who knows…’ She drifted off to sleep knowing that he was there for her.
Inuyasha crossed the room and sat on the floor, leaning against the wall. He dozed lightly the whole night, keeping an eye on Kagome. ‘She’s my only friend…I thought she had life so grand…All those times on the internet…Now I’ve been proven otherwise…I’m sorry Kagome…I wish you would have told me…’
If you are confused let me know…If you like it, or hate, I would like to know. Constructive criticism and compliments are both welcome! Next chapter coming soon!
